My Mysterious Boss

┍━━━━ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ━━━━┑
“I got in.”

Eunwoo quickly ducked and crawled under your bed, rolling to the other side, away from sight.

“Yes, I got inside. Who told you to hide your key under the welcome mat?” she chuckled, as she juggled with her keys and bag; her shoulder supporting her phone.
•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“Haein,” Eunwoo whispered, recognizing the voice.
He knew if anyone saw him, the mission would be over.
He’d have to leave the country and everything behind, starting a new life and identity as he agreed to.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“Hey, did you leave your bedroom door open?”
“Yah! Don’t go inside. Can you close the door for me?” You asked on the line.
“Why can’t I go inside?” Haein asked, walking closer to the room.
“There’s a gift inside that I don’t want you to see. It’s for you,” you lied, panic in your tone.
You weren’t ready to tell Haein your secret project yet.
“So, you want me to close your bedroom door?” Haein asked again, standing outside, scanning the inside of your room.
“Please.”
“Okay then," closing your door.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
Eunwoo sighed in relief.
He pressed on his ear piece, calling the other person.
“Mission compromised.”
“Get out safely.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“There’s an air mattress in the closet by the front door. The air pump should be on the shelf below that.”
She opened the closet, finding those items where you said they would be.
“Did you find them?”
“I did,” she pulled out the mattress.
“There should be blankets and pillows in that closet too, Haein.”
“I found them,” she smiled, pulling a blanket out.
“Thank you so much, Haein. I’m sorry for calling you so late. I really appreciate it.”
“Anytime!”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

Eunwoo quietly got up from his spot, trying hard to not make any sound as he unlocked the top and bottom lock to the window.
“Are you out?”
He pressed the earpiece again.
“Working on it,” he whispered back.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

The sunlight pierced through the sheer white curtains, as you heavily opened your eyes.
What time is it?
You thought, looking over at the clock on the nightstand.
“Why am I up so early?” You sighed, rubbing your eyes.
You sat up, winced in pain, lifting the blanket to see your bruised ankle.
It looked a lot better than last night; less swollen, but the pain was still there.
You frowned, knowing that you were more than likely to be stuck in the hotel all day.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

Your arms rested on the railing of the balcony, looking out at the beach.
There were a few people on the beach, doing their own little things.
You scanned your outfit, frowning to the thought that you couldn’t show it off.
You wore a flowy, midi pastel yellow skirt with a white blouse.

Knock. Knock. Knock.
You limped to the door and opened it.
“Good morning, Ms. Park,” the lady greeted.
You smiled at her.
“Breakfast delivery.”
“Oh, I…didn’t order it,” you replied, confused.
“It comes with the room,” she smiled.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
You sat on the couch, looking at the silver platter that was filled with food inside.
“That’s nice,” you thought.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“Mr. Wi, it’s been delivered,” the lady said.
Hajoon looked at your door.
“Thank you.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

Hajoon walked out onto the balcony, holding a cup of coffee.
He looked over at your balcony.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
He took out his phone, answering the call.

“Did you figure who was at her house last night?”
“Boss, it was Cha Eunwoo.”
“Eunwoo?” He furrowed his brows.
What is he doing there?
Hajoon questioned with a sense of stress.
“We’re still looking into it. He came out from the bedroom window last night.”
--------‘s room. Is he looking for the black box too?
Hajoon felt the pressure to get the box before Eunwoo does.
“Keep an eye on him until I return,” Hajoon instructed.
“Will do.”
He gave the ocean one last look before he walked back inside.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You walked out onto the balcony, looking over at your neighbor's balcony, noticing the door closing.
You turned look at the ocean, taking in the cool breeze.
You took your phone out, looking at his name.
Should I call him?
You contemplated for a few minutes.
Maybe he’s busy. I shouldn’t bother him.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
You plopped down on the couch.
Aish, I can’t stay inside all day. It would be a waste.
You thought.
Maybe I can go to the beach for a few minutes.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
Hmm…which floor is he staying on?
You thought as you made your way to the elevator.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You hopped off the elevator and walked to the back of the hotel.
“--------shi.”
You looked over your shoulder.
“Oh, Minhyuk-shi!” you waved at him.
He jogged up to you.
“You heading to the beach?” he asked, noticing the path you were taking.
“Ah, yes.”
He looked around.
“You’re not going with the man from last night?” He raised a brow in question.
You thought about him for a second.
“Oh, he’s busy today, so I’ll be going to the beach alone.”
“I thought you came here alone?”
“I did. He’s actually a friend who also came here by coincidence,” you chuckled.
“Oh, I see,” he smiled.
“Mind if I tag along?”
“Not at all. It’ll be fun!”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“Is your ankle okay?” Minhyuk asked, noticing your limping.
“I feel okay, but my ankle does not,” you chuckled, lifting your skirt a bit to show him the color of your swollen ankle.
His eyes widened by the blue and purple look.
“Omo, you said you tripped?” He asked, shocked by how severe your injury was.
“Did you want to hear the story?” you laughed, making fun of yourself.
“Tell me.”
“So, I’m walking and walking, and then I come upon this map. While I’m looking at the map of the trail, out of nowhere, this dog comes spiriting towards me. You know, it’s instinct, so I started running as fast as I could. I literally took a second to look behind, and that’s when my ankle twisted. I fell and rolled down a hill, and I ended up on another trail, and that’s where my friend found me.”
“Wow, that’s quite a story,” he laughed.
“It really was,” you laughed along.
“Have you bought ointment for it? Put some ice on it. It’ll help.”
“My friend bought some ointment already. It looks a lot better; better than last night.”
“Hopefully, your ankle will be okay before your trip ends.”
“I don’t think it’s going to get any better. I’ll just spend the next few days on the beach.”
“If you need a friend, I’m here,” he smiled.
“I appreciate it.”

“Minhyuk-shi, can you help me down this step?” you asked, noticing the big step you had to take to step on the sand.
“Of course.”

Before Minhyuk could lend you a hand, a hand grabbed your arm, pulling you back.
You looked over your left shoulder.
“Oh, Hajoon-ah.”
Hajoon looked at Minhyuk; his dark eyes glaring at him.
“What are you doing here? You’re not healed yet,” Hajoon scolded.
“I…I was just going to take a walk.”
“I got her,” Minhyuk looked at Hajoon.
Hajoon glanced up at Minhyuk; his hand still gripped onto your arm.
“She’s with me,” Hajoon said, making it clear to Minhyuk.
You felt the tension between them.

You twirled your arm, freeing yourself from his grip, grabbing a hold of his wrist in the process.
Hajoon looked down at you, as your touch gained his attention.
You two made eye contact; his eyes softened.

You turned to look at Minhyuk.
“Minhyuk-shi, please excuse me and my friend. Thank you for walking me this far,” you smiled.
Minhyuk nodded his head, understandingly.
“Enjoy the rest of your day.”
“Thank you. You too!” Minhyuk smiled, before walking away, maintaining eye contact with Hajoon.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“What are you doing here?” you asked, still holding onto him.
“No, I asked you first.”
“I can’t stay in my room all day. Do you know how much I spent on this trip?”
“It doesn’t matter. Your ankle is not healed yet.”
What the heck is wrong with him?
You thought, rolling your eyes, as you made eye contact to your hand still on his wrist.

You quickly let go, drawing his attention.

What’s going on with me?
Hajoon thought, as he took a step back.

“I mean, you can do whatever you want. I’m just saying that you shouldn’t put too much pressure on that foot,” Hajoon corrected himself,  clearing his throat.
“Well, thank you for looking out for me. You can go wherever you want to.”
You turned around to, hopefully, get a foot in the sand.

“What else do you have planned for today?” Hajoon shyly asked.
You stopped and turned back.
“What do you mean? You just told me to go back to my room.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You looked out the window and then back at Hajoon.
“Where are you taking me?”
He glanced at you then back on the road.
“Somewhere.”
“Is Soohyuk and Mrs. Lee here too?”
“Why would they be here?”
“I don’t know. You would only take me if we had something to do regarding to them.”
You thought for a second.
“If you want me to work, then let me say that you should just drop me back at the hotel. This is my vacation, and I am not going to work on my vacation. I will get back to you when I’m back in Seoul.” You crossed your arms, looking back at the view.
“What if I double your pay?”
Your eyes widened by his sudden raise in salary.
“Triple,” you negotiated.
“Fine.”
“Great! I would like the payment by the end of the day,” you smiled.
“Isn’t that too----,” before he could finish, you cut him off.
“That, or send me back to my hotel.”
Hajoon heavily sighed by your insane request.
He glanced over at you.
“This time only.”
“That’s fine with me,” you smiled from ear-to-ear.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

The car came to a stop. You looked outside, noticing that he parked in front of restaurant.
“What are we doing here?” looking at him over your shoulder.
He removed the key from the ignition.
“Eat? Isn’t that what you do at a restaurant?”
He got out first.

You facepalmed, getting out after him.
Hajoon stood outside in front of your door, waiting.
“You need help?” He asked, as he saw you struggling to pull out your injured foot.
He lent his hand out for you to hold for support.
You looked at him, noticing the kind gesture.
“I can get out myself,” you confidently told him.
You grabbed the door, as Hajoon took a step back, staring at you.

You took a deep breath, pulling yourself up with the support of the door.
He closed the door behind you.
“Thank you,” you looked at him, shyly.
“I can walk myself inside too,” you told him in advance.
Hajoon arched his brows in confusion.
“I wasn’t going to offer you any help anyway,” he smirked, walking inside first.
You scoffed, embarrassed that you thought a little too far and maybe even expected a bit too much.
You sharply sighed, trailing behind him.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You smiled at the waiter.
“Thank you,” as you sat down.
He bowed his head.
You looked around the restaurant, taking in the vibe of the room.
It felt rich, but home-y at the same time.

Hajoon looked up from his menu.
“What do you want to eat?”
You turned back to face him.
“What are you getting?”

“Probably just coffee,” he said, setting the menu down.
“You came to this restaurant just for coffee?” you were confused.
“Yea. Is there a problem?”
“Hajoon-ah,” you leaned forward, resting your left arm on top of your right, “if you want coffee, you go to a café, not a restaurant. A restaurant is for food.”
“So, are you going to eat?” He leaned back in his chair.
You grabbed the menu, reading it as quick as you could, but also taking your time.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
While waiting for your food, you scanned the room again, taking in each piece of art displayed on the wall.
You set your elbow on the table, cupping the right side of your face, looking out the window. The ocean was just so calming.
The creamy blue sky. The yellow sun. It was simply just too dreamy for you to believe that you were vacationing on Jeju Island.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
Hajoon: Any updates on ---------‘s residence? 12:35PM/ 12:35
Wonwoo: Haein is leaving the premises right now. 12:37PM/12:37
Hajoon: Keep watch on her house until I get back. Eunwoo too. 12:37PM/12:37
Wonwoo: Yes, Boss. 12:38PM/12:38

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
Hajoon looked up from his phone to see you admiring the view.
He didn’t want to ruin the moment, so he just stared at you.
Would one say admire though?

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“Here’s the French toast,” the waitress said, setting the plate of food in front of Hajoon.
He wore a puzzled look.
“Here’s the waffles and chicken,” setting that plate in front of you.

Your eyes gleamed and a smile formed.
You’ve never seen waffles so fluffy and huge, and chickens so tender and crispy.

Hajoon looked at you, waiting for an answer.
You made eye contact with him at the same time.
“It’s not a café. Thank me later,” you winked.

Hajoon took a small bite.
It’s not bad.
He thought.

“So, do you like it?” you asked, taking a bite of your waffle drizzled in maple syrup.
“It’s okay.”

You thought to yourself for a second before proceeding with your curiosity.
You sat up, fixing your posture.
“Hajoon-ah.”
He looked up from his plate.

“Do you mind if I ask you some questions?” You set the fork down.
“Depends on the question,” he answered as he continued to eat.
“Your favorite ice cream?”
It was not the type of question he was expecting.
“Mint chocolate chips.”
“Favorite food?”
“Ramen with abalone.”
“Really?” you gasped with his answer.
“Do you smoke?”
“…no.”
“You hesitated,” you raised a brow.
“No, I don’t smoke.”
“Do you sing?”
“Pass.”
“Do you dance?”
“Pass.”
“Do you like clubbing?”
“No.”
“Is Wi Ha Joon your real name?”
He furrowed his brows in confusion, setting his fork and knife down.
“Well, what do you think my real name is?”
“It could be anything. Do-il, Jun-Ho, Gi-Cheul, Ji-Hoon?,” you shrugged.
Hajoon leaned back in his seat.
“Why did you move to the States?”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“Why did you move to the States?”
Your question replayed in his mind, zoning him out.
It brought him back to that day; the day he left Korea with his father.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“Hajoon?” You waved your hand.
He snapped out of his thoughts, realizing that you were still there with him.

“…pass.”
•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“Thank you for lunch," you thanked as you two walked out.
He was still distracted by your question from earlier, not hearing your appreciation.

You grabbed his arm, making him stop.
He looked over his shoulder.
“What?”
“Why are you walking so fast?”
“Am I?”
He was unaware of how fast he was walking.
“Yes. I’m handicapped at the moment.”
“I thought you didn’t need my help?”
“I don’t. I’m just trying to keep up.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“You know what’s weird?” You asked, putting your seatbelt.
He gave you a “what” look.
“I had breakfast delivered this morning too.”
“Wow, that’s wonderful,” he said sarcastically.
“Yea, it really is wonderful,” you smiled.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“You can take me back to the hotel. I’m sure you’re here for business.”
Before he could say anything to you, you interrupted him.
“Those waffles are making me sleepy. Wake me up when we get to the hotel.”
You placed your head back, and then you closed your eyes, drifting away immediately.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
Hajoon parked the car, looking over at you.
You sound a lot better when you’re sleeping.
He smiled.
He looked at the time. It read 4PM/16:00.
How long are you going to sleep?
He thought.
Hajoon pulled out his phone from his pocket; no notification.
That meant there was no update on Eunwoo.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You opened one eye.
Are we at the hotel already?
Then, you opened the other eye, briskly sitting up, looking out the window.
There was no hotel in front of you.
You quickly turned to look at Hajoon, who was staring at you.

“Where are we?”
“How do you sleep so long?” Hajoon asked.
“How long has it been?”
“It’s 4:30PM/16:30.”
Your eyes widened from his answer.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU WAKE ME UP?” you scolded him.
He was taken back by your words.
“What do you mean?”
“You should have woken me up. Where are we?” you looked out the window again.
He sighed, getting out the car first.
“HAJOON-AH!”
He closed the door, doing a small stretch as he waited for you.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You adjusted your eyes, scanning your surroundings.
Walking quickly to the view, your mouth agape, a gasp escaped your mouth.
Hajoon walked behind, enjoying the view with you, one hand in his pocket.

A slight breeze brushed past; you closed your eyes as you took in nature’s kiss.
He smelled your scent; jasmine and vanilla.
Your wavy hair freely flowing along with the breeze. He looked at you, and his lips slowly curved into a smile.
He’s never seen you so carefree.

I’ve smelled this scent before.
You thought.
You opened your eyes and looked over your shoulder, to see Hajoon behind you with a smile.
Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.

His smile quickly faded away from embarrassment, when he made eye contact with you.
He cleared his throat, making you snap out of your daydream.
You turned back to look at the view, feeling your cheeks flush pink.

“This is Seongsan, right?” You asked, as your heart continued to race itself.
“So, you do know this place.”
“No, I’ve heard of it. I wanted to come here, but it was too far from the hotel.”
“Well, you’re here, so stop standing there.”
Hajoon walked away first.
Your lips curved up, as you watched him.
You enjoyed that side of him, a side that no one knew, not even himself.

You speedily limped, hoping that you would catch up to him.
“Hajoon, wait for me!”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You just noticed that he was not in a suit.
He had on a white tee shirt paired with a black sweater, and a pair of black pants.
A boyfriend look?

Hajoon took a glimpse behind, noticing your struggle keeping up with him.
He chuckled quietly to himself as he stopped for you to catch up.

You panted, unintentionally holding onto his arm for support.
“You walk really fast,” you panted in between, “Did you forget that I’m handicapped?” You side-eyed him, as he looked down at you.
“You did that to yourself,” he answered, looking back at the field.
You scoffed, letting his arm go.
You took in the moment with him for a few minutes.
“Can you walk?”
“Slowly.”

Hajoon thought for a while.
He popped his arm out.
“What?” you asked.
“My back aches.”
You laughed.
“I told you to put me down. It’s your own fault.”
You slowly raised your hand, linking it to his arm.
You felt every vein with his bulky built.
“Thank you,” you smiled; your cheeks warming up.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You and Hajoon slowly walked on the trail, both sides filled with yellow flowers.
You’ve always wanted to see the Canola flowers of Jeju.
“What about you?”
You looked at Hajoon, a little clueless.
“What about me?”
“Shouldn’t I get a chance to ask you some questions too?”
“Same rules apply to me though. I’ll only answer if I want to.”
Hajoon gave you a nod.
“What’s your favorite color?”
“Purple.”
“Ice cream?”
“I’m basic. Vanilla.”
“A place you want to visit?”
“That’s hard,” you chuckled, “hmm, I would say Lake Como.”
“Italy, I see.”
“Yup,” you laughed.
“Are you and Soohyuk dating?”
You raised a brow.
“No. We’re just friends.”
“I…just want to make sure. What about Eunwoo?”
“Eunwoo?” you arched your brows in puzzlement, “he’s a friend and a neighbor, that’s all.”
“What about that neighbor?” He looked at you.
“Which one?” You asked; your head slightly tilted to the left.
“The lady on your street?”
You both stopped, facing each other.
“There’s many of them. You have to be specific.”
“There was a lady you mentioned on the night that you got kind of tipsy,” Hajoon said, trying to not be suspicious.
You thought for a second.
“Hmm, was it Haein?”
“No, I know Haein. I think there’s a lady who lives on your block? She’s a friend?”
With another few seconds, you gasped in realization.
“Oh, her! What about her?” you smiled, as you two continued walking down the trail.
“How far does she live from you?”
“She lives down the street.”
You gasped after finishing your other thought; startling Hajoon.
“Do you like older women?” you asked; your eyes widened.
“W-what?” Hajoon was surprised himself, as you two stopped again.
“I can show you where she lives when we get back to the city. If you liked her, you should have told me sooner,” you laughed, pulling him back to walk.
He laughed along.

I guess we can do that too.
Hajoon thought.

There would be a greater chance of getting information quicker.
Hajoon knew he couldn’t say too much about the lady and the black box, or you’d be suspicious.
“What else did I tell you that night?”
Your cheeks flushed pink, knowing that you were drunk that dinner night.
“Nothing at all,” he smiled.
“Remember that dream you told me, the one in a yard or something. I want to hear about that dream.”
Your heart began beating rapidly as you thought back to that night at the junkyard.
“…pass.”
“What does Eunwoo do for a living?”
“I thought this was about me? Are you….”
“No.”
“Why do you want to know about Eunwoo?”
Does he know about Eunwoo? I didn’t tell him anything though, did I?
You questioned yourself.
“I just thought we should know about each other’s friends,” he smiled, trying to assure you.
“What do you want to know about him?”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“Ahh, another couple!”
You and Hajoon were caught off guard by a tour guide.
She had a polaroid camera in her hand.
“One picture for 6,000 won.”
Your eyes beamed, ignoring what the lady thought you two were.
You forgot about Hajoon’s question as well.
Tugging onto his arm, he turned his attention to you.
“Can we?” You smiled with puppy eyes.
He rolled his eyes and sighed.
“One.”
Your smile curved even wider.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“You guys can step right here,” she smiled, pointing at the spot.
“You’re not joining me?” You stood there alone on the spot; your eyes on him.
“No, thank you,” he said, inserting his hand in his pocket, looking at the field behind you.
“Yah, Hajoon-ah!”
He looked at you, startled by you yelling at him.
“Please! Just one!” You placed your hands together, pleading him with your puppy eyes.
He sighed, giving in quickly.
He walked next to you, a few inches away.
The lady tilted her head to the side.
The pose looked off, so she waved her hand, gesturing you two to get closer together.
You grabbed his arm, pulling him closer to you.
Naturally, it felt right to link your arm around his. Then, your head slowly rested on his shoulder.

Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.
He felt.
“You better smile,” you told him through a smile.
He smiled, upon hearing your playfully request.

The picture slowly rolled out from the top of the camera.
Before the lady could give you the copy, you quickly made another request.
“Wait, one more please!”
“W-what?” Hajoon asked, as he turned his head to face you.
You looked back at him.
“For memories,” you smiled.
Snap!
Another photo came out.
“Thank you, Hajoon!”

“Here you go,” the lady said, handing you the two polaroid pictures.
“Thank you,” you bowed.
Before you could take out your wallet, Hajoon had handed cash to the lady.
“Keep the change.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
You looked at the pictures as you two continued walking.
Don’t we look like we’re together?
You thought, as you smiled stupidly to yourself.
Hajoon peeked over, hoping to get a glimpse of the pictures.
“If you want to look at them, you could have just asked,” you laughed, handing him the pictures.
Hajoon shyly took the pictures.
“Which one did you want to keep?”
He took a second look at you.
“H-huh?’ He stuttered.
“You paid for it, so don’t you want to keep one?”
“I did pay for it,” Hajoon covered it up.
Truth was he did want a copy.
“I’ll take this one, I guess,” Hajoon held up the first picture.
“Good. I wanted to other picture anyway,” you smiled, taking the other picture from his hand.
“Wait, there’s a beach here too!” Your eyes widened.
“I thought you knew?” He chuckled.
“No, I’ve only seen pictures of the flowers.”
“Can you walk over there?” He asked, looking at your ankle.
“You’ll let me hold you, right?”
“…yea.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

“Can you take your shoes off?”
“Yup, I just need a place to sit first.”
Hajoon looked around.
“Can you make it over there?” He pointed at the wooden bench.
Your eyes followed where he pointed.
“I’ll just take it off here, on the sand.”
The bench was a bit too far for you.
You slowly plopped yourself on the sand.
“Thank you for helping,” you sarcastically thanked him.
You took off your right sandal, then the left one.
You raised your hand, waving at him.
“What?” he looked down at you, his arms crossed.
“Are you going to help me up?”
“You got yourself down.”
You sharply sighed, annoyed with his attitude.
“Yah!” you scolded him.
He lent his hand.

Without hesitating, you took his hand, gripping on tightly as he pulled you up.
Maybe a little too close.
You held your breath, as there was barely any space between you two.
“Um…can you help me get to the water?” You asked, taking a small step back.
“Yea, let’s do that.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

No words were exchanged between you two, except for the sounds of water clashing each other and children playing with each other.

Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.
Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.
Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.
Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.

Little did you know, he was feeling the same way you felt.

“I will be here for a while, so you can head back up there,” you told him, as you tucked a few strands hair behind your ear.
Hajoon nodded his head.
“But, don’t leave here, okay? You brought me here, so you’re bringing me back.” You sternly pointed at him.
“Wave, when you want to come back to the grasses,” Hajoon said before walking off.

It was that moment you finally admitted to your feelings.
I like…you.

Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.
Th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump.

You watched him as he walked further away from you.
I feel safe…with you.
You smiled.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
Hajoon sat down on the bench, looking out at the view.
His eyes slowly scanned the horizon before stopping on you.
The pastel yellow complimented your skin so well.

Ring. Ring. Ring.
He broke away, pulling his phone out from his pocket.
He read the caller, then he stood up, taking a few steps.

“Dad.”
“Hajoon, you’re on Jeju Island?”
Hajoon sighed, looking at the sun gradually set.
“Yes.”
“For what? What business do you have there?”
“I’ll be back in Seoul soon.”
“If it’s Ricci, come back. It’s not safe for you. I’ll have my men handle it.”
Hajoon’s eyes trailed back to you.
He saw you walking along the shore, limping as you took each step.
“I’m with..…someone special.”
His dad sighed, “I…I’ll be waiting for your return.”

Hajoon ended the call, inserting his phone back in his pocket.

“Excuse me.”
He looked over his shoulder to see an old ahjumma with a bouquet of Canola flowers.
“Would you like to buy a bouquet for 15,000 won?” she asked.
Hajoon didn’t know how to respond.
“Um…”
He thought for a second to himself, then he looked over his shoulder to see you now building sand castles with a few children.
He turned back to face the ahjumma.
She had a wide smile as she extended her arm out with the bouquet in her hand.
“Give it to her,” she smiled.
“Huh?” His eyes widened with confusion.
“Give it to her. She deserves it,” the ahjumma gestured the bouquet to him.
“How much was it?”
“I can’t take it,” the ahjumma said, handing him the flowers.
She walked away before Hajoon could take out his wallet.
“Thank you,” he whispered to the ahjumma.

Hajoon sat back down on the bench, looking at the bouquet.
It brought back memories.
He took one flower out and then another.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“You’re so pretty. Do you have a boyfriend?”
You looked at the little girl, who was sitting across from you, adding water to the sand.
“No. It’s just me,” you smiled.
“What about that man over there at the bench?” she pointed at Hajoon.
You were too shy to look at him after admitting your feelings.
“He’s just a friend.”
“I think he should be your boyfriend.”
Her eyes were too cute to resist.
You smiled at her, followed by a chuckle.
“He’s my boss.”
“It’s okay. Who says he can’t be your boyfriend? You’ll just be extra special,” she smiled with her pearly whites.
“Do you think it would be a good idea though? He’s kind of scary.”
She looked at Hajoon, then she looked back at you.
“He’s probably soft on the inside,” she smiled, “What’s his name?”
She’s right, isn’t she?
You thought, before answering her question.
“Hajoon. His name is Hajoon.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“Nora-ah, I should head back now. He might be waiting for me,” you laughed.
The little girl quickly got up and gave you a hug.
“I’ll miss you! Make sure you ask him to be your boyfriend,” she winked, though with a struggle.
“I will,” you smiled.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You dusted the sand off your bottom, grabbing your sandal, limping back to the grassy area.
You scanned the area, searching for Hajoon.
Did he leave me here?
You thought as you slightly panicked.
No, he wouldn’t do that to me.

“---------.”
You turned around, a wave of relief came over you,  seeing him.
You held onto your chest.
“I thought you left me. Where did you go?”
“I went to the bathroom,” he lied.
“Oh.”
“Are you ready to head back?” you asked.
“Yea,” he answered.
“Great! I’ll walk ahead first. I need a head start,” you laughed.

“-------.”
Saying your name felt different this time for him.
He felt the tingles throughout his arms.
His legs weakened.
You looked over your shoulder.
“Yea?”

Come on, it’s just her. Do it.
Hajoon encouraged himself.

He extended his arm out, holding up a floral headpiece, like the ones little girls used to make together.

“Who is it for?” you asked.
“…for you.”
Your eyes widened in surprised; your mouth agape.
“F-for me-me?”
Hajoon looked away, gesturing you to take the headpiece.
You stared at the beautiful yellow-pedal flowers and the soft green leaves.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
You stood there, paralyzed, as you thought about the possibilities.
Does he like me too?
No, that’s stupid to think.
I’m not in his league.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

Hajoon softly sighed as his arm began to sore.
He took a step closer to you.
Then, he slowly raised his arm, placing the yellow floral headpiece on your head.
It fitted so perfectly, like it was meant to be.
Coincidentally, the flowers complimented your outfit.

You two made eye contact, as Hajoon’s arm slowly rested back to his side.
You could care less to what was going on around you two.
All you saw was his soft brown eyes.
His flawless white skin.
His pink lips.
Should I?

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
There was a twinkle in your eyes.
Your wavy black hair waving along with the wind.
Your vanilla scent in the air.
Your luscious red lips.
Stop, Hajoon.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

You wanted to thank him, but no words came out.
It was as if you no longer had vocal cords.
The longer you looked at him, the butterflies intensified.
You were going to lose your balance, if you didn’t look away.

Ring. Ring. Ring.
You two snapped out.
Hajoon looked away first.
“Excuse me.”
He walked away while you stood there.
You cupped both of your cheeks; it was warm.
What’s wrong with me?
You wondered.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“I’m coming right now,” Hajoon said.
He hastily walked back.
“I have to go. I’ll call a cab for you,” he quickly said.
Before you could say anything to him, Hajoon had taken off.
You watched him sprint away. His eyes looked different.
Something’s wrong.
A sense of concern overcame you.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
You limped back to the parking lot, waiting for that cab Hajoon said that he would call for you.
“---------?”
You bent down to look at the driver, who had rolled down the window.
“Yes?”
“Mr. Wi Ha Joon sent me to pick you up.”

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
You looked out the window, smiling as you saw the yellow flowers.
You had forgotten about the floral headpiece until then.
Your hand reached for the beautiful headpiece, gently removing it from your head.
Carefully analyzing the artwork, you noticed there were also some white flowers.
It was as if a professional florist constructed it.
You smiled, recalling the moment he placed it on your head.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••

The car came to a stop.
You looked at the traffic light, then you looked out at the small shops.
Where did he go? It sounded like an emergency.
You worried.

You observed the outside, looking at the big families with their small children.
 That’s…
You squinted for a clearer image.

“Hajoon,” you whispered.
You noticed he wasn’t in his sweats anymore.
He had an all-black attire.

You quickly tapped on the side of the driver’s seat, catching his attention.
“Can you follow that car?” you asked, pointing to the car Hajoon entered.
He nodded.

You anxiously watched his car, two cars ahead of the one you were in.
You fidgeted with your fingers, as you sat in the back, keeping your eyes on the road.

•• ━━━━━ ••●•• ━━━━━ ••
“Park here. Thank you!" as you saw his car coming to a stop.
You limped out of the car, finding a small metal warehouse to hide behind.

What is he doing here?
You thought as you waited for his appearance.
You looked around, scanning the area.
The area was isolated from the rest of the world, if you were to describe it.
Peeking your head out, you soon realized that there were more cars than before.
Your eyes widened to the amount of men that came out; at least a hundred men were present.
They each stood side-by-side, in a block, in front of a black car.
You retreated and held your chest to calm dow, monitoring your breathing pattern.
It's just a hot tourist spot.
You lied to yourself.
You looked up.
Only a full moon and stars twinkling in the black sky.

You peeked your head out once more, after calming down the slightest.
One man opened the back door.
You focuused closely.
He took his first step out.
No, it's not him. It can't be him.
Then, there he was, standing a few feet away from you, facing his men.
All the men bowed their head in unison to Hajoon.
What's this?
You covered your mouth, not allowing that gasp to leave.

Hajoon extended his arm out.
Then, he accepted something in a hand.

Your heart raced.
Your mouth became dry.
Your eyes couldn’t believe what you were seeing.
You turned back, hiding yourself out of sight.

Who are you?

Chapter 40: Ah, so that's how those two take care of that ending from the previous chapter? But what did she mean by she didn't want him to blurt it out like that to Eunwoo? I couldn't recall which incident she was referring to. Other than that, Ha Joon getting jealous of her having lunch with Soo Hyuk and then taking up on his offer to drive her home and also, when he thought she was dating Eunwoo. But did he offer to take her home and she rejected him? He was kinda salty when he said something along the line of 'you take up his offer but reject mine?'. And once again what's with this chapter's ending as well? It's illegal to leave us on a note like that. Now what's that bracelet and how does he recognise it? And what did Ha Joon do this time? Surely she can't be his ex and all, unless she was abroad as well. Nonetheless, I can't wait to read more. Will be eagerly waiting for the next update ^^

Chapter 39: Ooh... You didn't bring the twist I was expecting from the ending of the previous chapter. And talking about endings, what is even Ha Joon thinking confronting Eunwoo like that here? How is he gonna justify his reason for knowing that? Regardless, I had fun reading this chapter. Those two showing attitude to each other, then caring about each other secretly... I can't wait to read more. Will be eagerly waiting for the next update ^^

Chapter 38: I'm not gonna get fooled by your ending. I'm sure he's gonna something along the line, who will spy for him and he's in need of a trustworthy partner or so. LoL... But that's a pretty good ending for the chapter. I'll give you that. You almost got me. Anyway, those two were really good this whole chapter. Like her, I'm gonna miss those two being on holiday. Since they can't be this free back home with their job hierarchy. Also, I cracked up hard when she retorted 'In this hotel room?' to his ' I'm your boss' comment XD can't wait to read more. Will be waiting for the next update ^^

Chapter 37: Their vacation is getting over? So soon? Noooooo... I mean it was fun seeing them flirt and spend time together without their status or something holding them back. It was sweet and a bit funny how they ordered food for each other and then acted like they can eat all that by themselves. And will they be having a double date somewhere later in the story with Minhyuk and his girlfriend? Also, that ending though! How are they both gonna escape the guys who have come in search of him? Can't wait to read more. Will be eagerly waiting for the next update ^^

Chapter 36: So Eunwoo hasn't found the box yet, right? I mean since he got interrupted by Haein while searching for it. Also, wonder why Ha Joon is keeping an eye on her as well... And definitely enjoyed reading those two's interaction in the island. I laughed out loud when she asked him if older women was his type and was going to introduce her friend to him. Oh, I totally forgot about her admitting her feelings for him, even though it was just to herself. Now when's Ha Joon gonna realise his own? Also, she gotta stop following people blindly especially when it involves secluded place and warehouses. When is she gonna learn her lesson? Anyway, thanks for the longer update. can't wait to read more. Will be eagerly waiting for the next update ^^

PS New Year wishes to you as well. Wish you the best!

Chapter 35: That ending though! I mean will Ha Joon recognise whose voice it is? And does she have notes on Eunwoo too on that board? I don't seem to remember... Regardless, this chapter was a fun read, especially the interactions between her and Ha Joon. And I'm still wondering about this Minhyuk guy. LoL... Anyway, can't wait to read more. Hope to see an update soon ^^

Chapter 34: LoL... You definitely got us in the last chapter! I still can't believe it wasn't the same black box that he was looking for. Wah, you fooled me completely! Anyway, coming to the chapter, I didn't know such a hotel existed in Jeju. Not that I know of all the hotels there. Nonetheless, I wasn't expecting a hotel with the name 'Ramada' in Korea but now I know, thanks to you and Google. LoL.. also, can't believe Ha Joon really killed someone in this chapter. Not sure why that came as a shock to me though. Also, that nice guy named Minhyuk, is he one of your OCs or is he one of those idols with the real name Minhyuk? I'm really curious. Also, his mother doesn't know about his girlfriend yet or is she not accepting that girlfriend for her son? And what was Ha Joon doing in Jeju though? I'm curious of that too. And the guy at the end, is it Minhyuk again? Or is he someone's else entirely? Anyway, can't wait to read more. Will be eagerly waiting for the next update ^^

Chapter 33: So Eunwoo now thinks she likes him? Also, Ha Joon and her had an indirect date? Those two were too cute, especially trying to deny their feelings. And she gave him the black box? That came as a surprise. Anyway, can't wait to read more. Hope to see an update soon ^^

Chapter 32: At the beginning of the chapter, I was mildly confused if the order of the chapter was wrong but soon realised it was Ha Joon's perspective. Somehow, the mention of an Italian brand and all those ominous reactions and warnings from people make me wonder if it has anything to do with the Italian mafia. Also, her being conflicted with her feelings and her fear, how are things gonna resolve in that department? Also, Jung Hae In here is the actor Hae In, isn't it? Just curious... Anyway, can't wait to read more. Will be eagerly waiting for the next update ^^

Chapter 31: Asdfghjjklkj!! He brought her lunch, didn't he? Ayyo, now he's gonna think she went on a date with Soohyuk. And talking about him, I wonder what the repercussions gonna be for hanging out with him. I mean like she said, his mom is definitely not gonna leave this alone. Also, I'm starting to feel sorry for Eunwoo. Just hope that he was genuinely caring about her till now and not just acting so. Anyway, can't wait to read more. Hope to see an update soon ^^
