How I Have Missed You
Overwatch“Taekwoon!” Wonsik cried happily as the slightly older man entered his lab, rushing to hug him, “you’re early!”
“Finding this place wasn’t half as hard as I thought it was going to be,” Taekwoon shrugged, wrapping his arms around the scientist and hugging him just as tightly, “you might want to look into relocating. And getting better locks.”
“Talk about that later,” Wonsik laughed, dragging Taekwoon out of the lab and into the living room, “right now tell me about everything! Everything you saw, everyone you met, and everything you did.”
“Alright, alright,” Taekwoon laughed, letting Wonsik push him onto the couch, “there isn’t much to tell honestly. I was just backpacking through northern Canada. There honestly isn’t all that much to see.”
“Bull,” Wonsik huffed, “I’ve looked up pictures on Google. It’s really pretty there.”
“And super cold,” Taekwoon laughed, “but yeah, it’s beautiful.” He paused for a moment to take in Wonsik’s super interested expression, “ok, what’s wrong?”
“What are you talking about?” Wonsik frowned slightly, “nothing’s wrong.”
“You’re not normally this interested in my travels,” Taekwoon told him, “you don’t ask for details on everything and get upset when I leave stuff out. So what’s happened to make you so interested?”
“Nothing’s wrong,” Wonsik insisted, “is it a bad thing for me to be so interested?”
“No,” Taekwoon smiled slightly, “it’s not bad at all, just different. I worry, you know? About you and how you’re doing. What you’re feeling and thinking. If something is bothering you or if everything is alright. When you act out of the norm like this……it makes me worry.”
“I just missed you,” Wonsik said, curling up against Taekwoon, “you were gone for a while. Sure you called a couple times a week, but……but you weren’t here. A phone call doesn’t change that.”
“Oh, Wonsik,” Taekwoon hugged the other tightly, “I missed you a lot, too.”
“I know I can’t ask you to be home more,” the scientist kept talking, “you’re doing important stuff, way more important than my want for you to be here. But I still……I still want you to be here with me.”
“I can try to come back more often,” Taekwoon said, “a couple more trips home isn’t going to make much of a difference in my work.”
“I can’t ask that,” Wonsik huffed, “your work is important. You’re hunting down the people who ripped apart our family.”
“You can ask that,” Taekwoon told him, “I’m your boyfriend. You’re important, even more then my work.” He paused when Wonsik gave him a look, “just as important as finding the people who broke our family.”
The couple fell silent, Wonsik letting Taekwoon’s words sink in. he knew the other man was right, but asking for Taekwoon to be with him more often….….he couldn’t help but feel a little bit selfish. He thought about saying those words out loud and his mind quickly recalled their broken family. He was lucky just to have Taekwoon call him at least once a week, many other Overwatch members were alone in the world. Like Hongbin for example.
But….would his family really begrudge him having just a little more time with his lover? Would they really hate him for asking Taekwoon to make the trip home more often? Would they be angry at Taekwoon for going home a couple more times a year when he was busting his looking for those who ruined the name of Overwatch?
“Come home more,” Wonsik whispered.
“I will,” Taekwoon promised.
A/N: I’m, like, 99% happy with this. why 99%? Because every time I read over this something feels……off. I honestly can’t tell what is wrong or even if anything is wrong at all and it’s just in my head, but…….yeah. 99% is pretty dang good, right? Also, I think I know someone who’ll be really happy with this wontaek fluff *knowing grin*
