Sehun sat on the edge of the balcony’s ledge with one foot propped up while the other dangled off the side. Dressed in black slacks and a white shirt, he looked regal even in his disheveled state. Staring off at the kingdom below, he contemplated everything that happened since their arrival.

Trying to piece together what he’d come to collect from just observations, Sehun mentally noted how Destan seemed ready to give any form of information about the city without him or Kai really asking. The prince also found it interesting how the young man couldn’t help but fidget in their presence. Whether that be because he was just nervous to be with two soon-to-be princes or something else, Sehun didn’t know. It bothered him greatly because evidence and other pieces to this mysterious puzzle were still missing.

Who was it exactly that wanted Taura? Why were girls being sacrificed in cold blood? Who were the two people behind the door?

Sehun deducted that one of them had to be Destan or Emiyn. They were the only two that would have known that Taura was supposedly left at Balma. Sehun bet his money that it was Emiyn because ever since their first meeting, Emiyn seemed anxious about everything. Then again, Sehun felt something off about Destan too.

Delving deep into his thoughts, Sehun didn’t notice the few knocks on his door until he heard the doorknob turn. Turning in the direction of the door, he planted his feet on the balcony, straightening out his shirt, and walked into his room.

“Sehun,” Kai peeked his head in to see Sehun looking right at him, “Oh, you are in here. I thought you’d gone out.”

Kai slipped in and shut the door behind him. He too wore a white dress shirt and black slacks but his look was more refined and neat when compared to Sehun.

“Were you looking for me?” Sehun leaned on the edge of the desk in the room while Kai sat on the edge of the bed.

“Yeah, I wanted to talk with you about something.” Kai rubbed his hands together before wiping them on his pants. “You know something I don’t and I want to know. I need to know because it’s about Taura.”

The prince raised his head to look at the siren who stared back with a stoic expression. Sehun had his arms crossed but those loosened as he let out a breath. Nodding his head, Sehun grabbed something behind him on the desk. It was a small box. He twirled it in his fingers and began, “A couple of days ago, I overheard a conversation. Someone knows that Taura’s here and he wants her. I warned the others as soon as I found out and I have a hunch who it might be.”

Kai stood up from the bed, walking in Sehun’s direction, “And you had no thought to tell me this?”

Sehun shrugged, “At the time you weren’t my first priority, no.”

“Are we not on the same team here? You should have told me this.” Kai grabbed Sehun by his shirt collar and brought the siren closer to him, “How do I know you’re not the bad guy here?”

This caused the younger man to scoff and easily brush Kai’s hand off of him. Sehun stepped to the side and away from the prince as Kai turned to him.

“I did tell you…just now,” Sehun turned and threw the box at Kai who caught it without flinching, “and I’m not the bad guy.”

            *~*~*~*

Lay, Chen, and Kris separately descended from the boat heading in different directions on the docks. Lay described the men to the others saying that there were three of them, dressed in dark colors, hoods covering their eyes but he said not to look for that specifically. Lay was certain they’d probably changed their approach since it was night fall.

The three friends circled the docks multiple times when Kris finally stopped Chen and Lay, “Chen tell the others the docks are clear. Lay and I are going to take a look in the area around the docks. Tell, the others to get ready.”

Chen nodded and began his ascent up the ship while Kris and Lay walked in the direction off the docks. The sky still had hints of the sun to the west but darkness plagued most of the sky eating up the leftover color. Kris kept vigilant of the surroundings and the few people that wandered the streets.

Some men sat outside their homes smoking, talking quietly. Others walked by with buckets and fishing nets, all of their faces unreadable and unsuspecting. They were mostly old men who didn’t look capable of much.

“Do you trust her?” Lay looked up above his hood to the captain of his crew. Kris didn’t turn to him but kept his eyes forward.

“I do.” Kris pointed to the left, directing their path back to the docks. He did trust Doria. He didn’t feel any ulterior motives behind the g

Chapter 23: isn't taura taking everything too good? she's too nice. Her parents are dead, she lost her lover infront of her own eyes, she lost her close friends, she cant even go back to her kingdom because of her trauma and now her people hates her think she abandoning them. Not to mention the "nice" reaction from humans about her wanting peace. I'm suprised she's so calm. She sacrificed a lot and she suffered the most, yet no one seem to acknowledge that
