“Can this be over?” Sehun sat at the table with Taura beside him watching as couples danced on the large dance floor. He wore a simple black button up with matching pants and had his blonde hair styled up. Twirling a glass of wine in his hand, Sehun couldn’t find the amusement or joy in the same old repetitive parties that humans prided themselves on. They seemed nothing more than just another way for royalty and the rich to flaunt their money to other rich royals. He’d much rather be alone somewhere or better yet asleep and not put up with the blatant comments about him being a siren and a human.

            Taura had her cheek propped on her palm. She was just tired. All night she had to put up with Mihyun’s obvious dislike towards her and the over emphasis on the fact that she was a mermaid and how most of the people she met never spoke with a mermaid before. Finally giving up on social interaction she decided to settle down at the table with the other boys who also chose to opt out of the social gathering.

            “I don’t see why we can’t just leave.” Baekhyun loosened his tie when Suho sighed, “It’d be rude to their King.”

            “Looks like our prince is enjoying himself. Hey, Taura you should control your husband.” Xiu Min tapped the girl’s shoulder and pointed at the prince who was busy talking with Seunghoon and some other men they were not familiar with. He wore a white dress shirt and black slacks. His hair styled up like Sehun’s, he was once again the epitome of handsome. Taura glanced over at Kai but brushed off Xiu Min’s comment as she grabbed a glass of water and kicked off her heels.

            “He’s a big boy. He can take care of himself.” She propped her feet on the empty seat beside her and sipped her water as the other men at the table ooh’d at her.

            “I’ve never seen you like this, princess.” Chen raised a glass, “I like it.”

            Taura leaned over the table and clinked glasses with him. At dinner, Taura may have had a few glasses of wine. The taste of it was pleasing to the mermaid’s taste buds that she found herself having a little more than a few.  

            Sehun watched her carefully, shaking his head. He knew she drank something just how much of it he didn’t know, “Go to bed before you do something stupid.”

            Taura stuck her tongue out at him, flipping her hair over her shoulder, “No thank you.”

            “Taura you’re drunk. Go to bed.”
