Chapter 23

The Arranged Marriage.
A/N-happy birthday Chanyeol! When ı awoke it was light outside. I sat up, stretching and stifling a yawn. Opening my eyes into slits ı let them adjust to the blaring light before looking around at my surroundings. My memory returned to me as ı took in the sight of the hospital room. I sighed heavily and went to lay back down. "Don't go to sleep again" came a familiar voice. I sat back up and looked around in alarm. That was when ı spotted Sehun's figure under the blankets of the large bed. He had his eyes closed and his head rested on his pillow, his arm behind his head. I frowned and sat up further in the seat, straightening out the cushions and patting down my hair. "How long have you been awake?" I asked in an annoyed voice. I wanted to sleep again. He his side to face me, his eyes barely open. "Not long" he answered. I cleared my throat uncomfortably and combed my fingers through my hair. "How do you feel?" I stubbornly asked, looking anywhere but at Sehun. "Terrible" he answered. I didn't respond and continued to stare at the vase besides the couch. "I might die" he continued. I couldn't help but scoff and finally look at him. He had a triumphant smirk on his face. "How horrible" ı said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. He chuckled lazily and closed his eyes, massaging his temple. "My head hurts like hell" he complained, pouting. I scoffed. "Maybe it's because of the ridiculous amount of alcohol you had to drink yesterday" ı snapped. He opened his eyes and stuck out his tongue. "And it would have nothing to do with the concussion you caused" he said dryly. "Ha! I don't know what you mean. It wasn't my fault" ı defended, feeling my cheeks heat up and the guilt chew at my stomach. "Was too" Sehun argued, smirking and laying on his back. I puffed and chucked the nearest cushion at him. It hit his head with a thud. "Yah!" He complained, hiding his head under the quilt. Before ı could stop it a laugh escaped my lips. I quickly covered my mouth with my hand. Sehun's head re-emerged from the covers and he chuckled. "Fool" he muttered before turning on his side facing me and closing his eyes. I sat awkwardly as he gradually fell asleep, trying to advert my eyes from his peaceful face. However ı constantly caught myself staring at his face, noting every detail of his features. He didn't have a perfect face. It wasn't completely symmetrical either. However it was still unbelievably attractive, like the features had been carved into smooth, priceless marble. And in his sleep, there was nothing wrong with him at all. He wasn't wearing that stupid smirk. His expression wasn't distant nor were his eyes cold. He wasn't saying harsh words and did nothing wrong. He was perfect in his sleep. I quickly looked away, growing red and hot as ı scolded myself. What was ı thinking?! Stop it Jessica. You're clearly not thinking straight from lack of sleep, ı thought sternly. Suddenly the air in the room had become thick and hot, and if ı was to try and breathe in here any longer ı would break out a sweat. Quietly ı stood up and went over to the door. It creaked slightly as it opened but Sehun didn't stir and ı quietly left the room, shutting it quietly behind me. Yawning ı looked around and wondered where to go. Walking around the wards would be too depressing, not to mention ı'd be worried of catching an illness. I couldn't go to the cafeteria either. Hospital food would make me puke up. There really was nowhere to go. Then suddenly a short women with elaborate curls in her black hair and who was wearing expensive clothing approached me, a panicked look on her youthful looking face despite her age. "Jessica!" She exclaimed. I turned to see Mrs. Oh looking at me with a worried, panicked expression. "Mrs. Oh!" I exclaimed in surprise. She waved her hand in the air. "The doctor called me. Where's my baby boy?" She asked. I had to stop myself from laughing at her nickname for Sehun. I pointed towards his room door. She suddenly hugged me as high as she could. "Thank you Jessica. Aigoo you're such a good girl. I don't know what Sehun would do without you" she said, pinching my cheek before turning and entering Sehun's hospital room. I stood blinking after her. What the hell? Since when had Sehun relied on me? We hadn't even known each other for that long and suddenly we were already dependant on each other to live?! I don't think so. We aren't even married. I clicked my tongue in annoyance, my mood plummeting further as ı went outside for some fresh air. The light breeze helped clear the fog in my head and ı took a deep breath of cold air. It was freezing, morning frost covering the surrounding grounds. I started shivering but had unfortunately left my coat upstairs in Sehun's room. There was no way ı was going up there in this moment of time to retrieve it when there was a possibility ı would be forced to stay by Mrs. Oh. I felt like playing a game, but my phone was in my coat pocket. Mumbling complaints ı skidded over to a bench and sat down, the cold wood making my bum numb. Hugging my knees to my chest ı closed my eyes and rested my head on my knee, shivering myself to sleep. I had only been half asleep, and so ı easily heard my name be called. "Jess-ssi?" Came an unfamiliar voice. I opened my eyes and looked around, but ı didn't recognise anyone. Then suddenly someone waved at me and ı guessed it was the person who had called me. "Do ı know you?" I asked, struggling to see properly. "Why are you out here? You must be freezing" the person said, ignoring my question. I sighed, my breath forming a cloud, and didn't bother repeating the question. The boy was around my age, perhaps a little bit older. He was tall with dark brown hair and big hazel eyes. He flashed a cheeky grin and suddenly grabbed my hand, pulling me from my seat. "Yah" ı complained, grumbling. "You're Sehun's girl, right?" The boy asked. That woke me up. Since when had ı been his girl? "Wow, you're hand's freezing. Come on, let's go" he said eagerly before pulling me inside. I was too tired to protest. My mind wasn't in the perfect condition to recognise every event that happened, but at one point the mysterious boy had given me his coat. I guess ı really looked cold. "You're almost blue" the boy said proving my thoughts right, staring at my face and then my hands. I fidget-ed uncomfortably. "I'm Chanyeol by the way" he suddenly said when we entered the lift. I rubbed my eyes for a second before forcing myself to properly look at his face. He had a childish face, with cute features and bright, glittering eyes. His eyes, paired with his memorable grin made him good looking. He seemed like the type to easily melt a girls heart. I also noticed how deep his voice was. Though it was completely different to his face, it suited him in an odd way. "Why were you outside, especially in this weather?" He asked. I shrugged, which made him tusk and shake his head. "That Sehun, did he make you go outside? Aish, that kid's a handful. Good look with him" Chanyeol teased. I couldn't help but smile at his contagious happiness. "Gee, thanks" ı said sarcastically. Chanyeol chuckled and rocked back and forth on his heels. "By the way, do you know Kai as well?" Chanyeol asked as we left the lift. I stared at him in surprise. "Yes. You too?" I asked. Chanyeol smiled and nodded. "Of course. He's part of our group, though he likes to spend most of his time alone" Chanyeol explained. Then he suddenly laughed. "How ironic, that you'd know both of them and be caught in between them both" Chanyeol said, grinning. "Why?" I asked, hoping ı could pry some information out of this gullible looking Chanyeol. His eyes widened and he covered his mouth with his hands. "Oops! I shouldn't have said anything. Don't tell them ı mentioned it, or else ı'm..." He ran his finger across his throat and made a dying sound. "So you didn't here anything, okay?" He said, covering my ears with his hands and shaking my head. I laughed and batted away his hands. "Okay, okay. I won't mention anything." He sighed in relief and ruffled my hair. "Thank you Jess-ssi. You just saved my life." I giggled at his childishness. Meanwhile ı could feel my curiosity grow further, like a mountain in my chest. I needed to find out what happened. Inside the hospital room Sehun was laid on the bed, firmly tucked under the quilts with a grumpy expression on his face whilst his mother fussed over him. "Omma! Leave me be!" We heard him yell as we entered the room. Chanyeol laughed at the scene and bounded over to the bed, jumping onto the mattress and laying next to his friend with his head rested on his hands. I stood awkwardly at the door, my hand still on the handle as ı contemplated whether to leave or stay. "Oh, hi hyung" Sehun greeted Chanyeol whilst battling away his mother. "Omma, seriously! This is your last warning" Sehun yelled at his mother. She finally stopped fussing about him and stood back with her hands on her hips and set in a grim line. She reminded me of Sehun when she did that. "Alright, fine. I know when ı'm not wanted" she lifted her head up in the air and turned to stalk away in a huff. Sehun chuckled. "Okay, okay. I'm sorry omma" Sehun apologised. His mother laughed and ruffled his hair. That's when she spotted me stood in the doorway. "Jessica!" She exclaimed, her curls bouncing as she suddenly ran to my side. "You should have said you're here! Omo, your skin's freezing. Here, come by the fire to heat up" she pulled me over to the electric fire not far from Sehun's bed and sat me down in the nearest chair. I realised ı still had on Chanyeol's jacket and so ı took it off. "Chanyeol-ah, you're jacket" ı notified him. Sehun shot Chanyeol a dark look. If looks could kill, Chanyeol would be dead, dead and triple dead. Chanyeol chuckled nervously at Sehun's glare and quickly took the jacket from me, flashing his cheeky smile and shrugging his shoulder at Sehun. I frowned at Sehun's expression. First of all, Chanyeol was older than him and so he had some nerve to look at his hyung like that. And second, why was he being so protective? He didn't have a claim on me and there was nothing wrong with Chanyeol lending me his jacket. You didn't see me biting Sehun's head off for having a girlfriend, or so the girl had claimed. The air grew slightly awkward between the two and ı fidgeted uncomfortably. I wasn't good at making conversation which was one of the reasons ı hated to socialise. Luckily, like my mother, Mrs. Oh seemed professional in that field of skills and filled up the stone silence between us with her high, chirpy voice. I answered when it was required but apart from that, ı retreated to sinking in my seat and hoping ı would be ignored for the rest of the morning, if possible the day.
