Strong Willed

Minzy literally felt as though she was living in a dream. Zelo had gone above and beyond. First celebrating prom and now here she sat smiling and listening to Zelo give a speech at her make shift graduation. He talked about how proud he was to have a determined strong sister to have finished high school and now it was time that they celebrate it with a big graduation blow out bash. Everyone cheered as Hyuna hung onto her arm laughing at some random guy who she had spotted that was more interested in digging for gold in his nose than Zelo's heart felt speech. It was just so funny, Minzy couldn't help but giggle along with Hyuna and elbow her to stop before they ruined Zelo's talk.

"What's so funny," Jiyong leaned over to whisper seeing the two exchanging words and laughing.

Minzy shrugged it off as nothing, "Just enjoying each other's company."

"Ah secrets, secrets are no fun," Jiyong tisked her teasingly before he started to clap along with everyone else as Zelo finished his speech. Rising to his feet, he reached out his hand and gave Minzy a big smile, "Can I have this first dance?"

"Sure..."

"I think that's my responsibility. After all she is my girlfriend this weekend," Seunghyun appeared as he took Minzy's hand and pulled her up on her feet and whisked her away onto the dance floor. The crowd clapped their hands together as Seunghyun led Minzy in the first slow dance. Sighing she couldn't help but frown up at him. "What," he asked as if he wasn't just rude moments ago.

"You know what Seunghyun," she shook her head as she slung her arms over his neck. "That was very rude."

"It was rude of him to ask you for the first dance when he knows that Zelo specifically said that this was the weekend of how things were supposed to be," Seunghyun defended his actions.

"But you and I both know that when this weekend is over so are we because this moment is far from reality," she said softly. Her words pierced his ears as he found himself pressing his lips together hard. What was he expecting? Though she was all smiles and going along with what had happened so far over the weekend, he knew she wasn't one to change over night. It was in that moment he realized and knew he was the cause of how things all fell apart. If he had listened to her. If he had stayed away from Bom. If he had not spent so much time and effort on Bom, maybe just maybe this weekend would've been a reality for the both of them. "Seunghyun thank you," Minzy spoke up as she felt him starting to drift off into his own thoughts. "Thank you for helping my brother do all this. You didn't have to. But you've been such a great friend to my brother I just can't help but feel grateful to you," she grinned.

Her sincere words were more than enough to move him, since as of lately all he heard were words of harsh truth. But it was her genuine grin that topped it off for him. It had been such a long time since he'd seen her stare at him in that way. It made his chest tighten as it spread into a bright smile. This was something he truly missed and longed for, yet he didn't realize it until he had lost it. Becoming consumed by the moment, he leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers. Kissing her hard as he cupped her small face in his hands. Moving his lips against hers, he couldn't help but taste her fruit flavored lip gloss. Letting his tongue flick out over her lips to taste more of her, he held her close to him enjoying and remembering just how much he missed her. Pulling away he looked into her eyes and smiled down at her, "I didn't do it just for your brother. I did it for us."

Minzy bit her lower lip as she turned her head as she felt her cheeks starting to burn up. The way he had kissed her was that of longing and remembrance of their relationship. But she had to hold it together, she couldn't just fall back into his arms and pretend everything was okay when they most definitely weren't. Summing up the courage, she turned back towards his intense gaze and grinned, "What about us?"

Seunghyun matched her grin as he reached up behind his neck and took each of her hand in his and intertwining their fingers. Staring down at her, he shrugged, "Can you give us one last try?" Minzy didn't know what to say honestly. She shrugged as he leaned down and pressed his forehead against hers. Staring into her eyes as their noses soon touched as well, "What do you say?"

"I...don't know. I want to but..."

"Then let's leave it at that. You want it and so do I. Let's see where things should've been this Summer," Seunghyun cut in before descending once more to take her lips again. Minzy laughed as they pulled away and didn't realize that they had an audience gawking and cheering as the pair glanced around. Seunghyun raised their connecting hands in the air to get the crowd cheering louder and Minzy shook her head at his celebration. But she could sense that not everyone was cheering. Glancing over she saw Jiyong staring at her. The look in his eyes glimmered briefly with sadness before he gave her a hard look and turned to leave. She could also see that Hyuna wasn't her usual cheery self as she clapped along with the rest of the crowd. She seemed as if she was unsure as to what was happening and Minzy in turn felt the same way. She was just as confused as Hyuna when she felt herself being pulled against Seunghyun allowing him to kiss the top of her head.

"Did I up," Minzy exhaled as she turned to Hyuna who had stayed to help her clean the last of the mess.

Hyuna opened to say something before closing it and shaking her head, "The hell if I know. But..."

Minzy knew Hyuna well enough to know she would make sure her thoughts were heard, "What?"

"Don't get me wrong Minzy. You and Seunghyun together are like dynamite..."

"But," Minzy cut in knowing she was just trying to ease her way into the truth.

"But after all that Seunghyun put you through this year and on top of other things that happened to you this year. I feel like you're different now. You're not the same Minzy you were a year ago." Hyuna stopped what she was doing and took Minzy's hands in hers and smiled, "Maybe I'm wrong and you two are meant to be together and what happened this year was just a way to strengthen your relationship. Or maybe you're just falling back into bad habbits that are stopping you from what fate has in store for you."

"And what is it that fate has in store for me," Minzy grinned at her friend who sounded like some kind of fortune teller.

Hyuna shrugged before embracing her dear friend, "Just listen to your heart and follow it. That's all I'm saying. Your heart knows and feels where fate wants you to be."

She sighed as she hugged her friend back, "Thank you fortune cookie. I will try thinking with my heart." Pulling away she turned back to picking up the red plastic cups, "Now get the out of my house and go get your beauty rest. I got the rest of it."

"Are you sure," Hyuna frowned.

Minzy nodded as she took the items out of her hands and started to guide her to the front door, "Remember you promised to hang out with Fei tomorrow and I know she's gonna wanna hear all the details of what you and I have been doing the past couple of days."

Hyuna rolled her eyes as she was reminded of what she had to do the following day, "Damn you two! Can't you es just make up and stop acting like little s. It's exhausting going back and forth between the two of you."

"She knows where I live..."

"So, you know where she lives too! Why can't you two meet like at my place and we can settle this once and for all," Hyuna suggested.

"Not when she's being such a little y with Bom. You and I both know that ain't happening if she's still hanging around that ," Minzy shook her head.

"Bom's not that bad...I mean when she's not talking about you of course," Hyuna shrugged.

This made Minzy cough a laugh as she slugged her friend right in the arm, " you! You can get out of my house now since you wanna hang out with her too."

Hyuna laughed as she was pushed out of the house, "Fine, I'll leave you rude !"

"Bye y who hangs out with the enemy," Minzy sang sweetly as she flipped her friend off and closed the door. Sighing as she shook off the thoughts of Bom, she walked back to the kitchen and finished cleaning up. Smiling at all her hard work, she stood proud of her domestic work. The house was spotless and she would like to say shimmering in cleanliness. Taking it all in, she heard her brother call for her. Making her way to his room, she grinned over at him to see him sitting up in his bed. Patting his bed, he nodded for her to come sit by him. Being the big sister that she was, she didn't just sit, but bear hugged him as she wrapped her arms around his waist and lay against his chest. "Thank you baby brother for this great weekend."

"Did you like it," he asked.

Glancing up at him she smiled brightly, "I loved it. Thank you."

"It even got you and Seunghyun to get back together too," Zelo grinned as he wiggled his eyebrows up and down at her.

She laughed as she laid her head back on his chest, "I guess you can say that."

"Is that what you want?"

Her laughing subsided as she thought about what he was asking her. Shrugging more to herself she didn't know how to answer that, "I'm...not sure."

"Is it because of that Bom girl," Zelo asked. She knew she couldn't hide all her problems from him, but she didn't want to talk about it. Laying down next to him, she snuggled up against Zelo hoping he wouldn't press her further. Hearing him let out a soft sigh, she grinned to herself as he wrapped his arms around her.

Minzy arrived early to work the next day, she wanted to make sure she made the best impressions this Summer being her first job and all. Glancing at herself in her mirror, she breathed words of encouragement to herself. "You are strong. You are Minzy. You ing got this!" A light tap at the window startled her, as she snapped to the left to see Teddy smiling and waving at her.

"Wow you're early," he spoke through the glass.

Embarassed by his sudden appearance, she rushed out of the car to greet him, "Yes, I just wanted to make sure I made it here on time."

"Well since you're here early how about you join me for some breakfast," he offered as he nodded towards the trailer.

"I...I don't want to intrude. I can just wait..."

"In the cold," he chuckled as she gave a small shiver at the mention of the temperature.

Minzy grinned and nodded, "Umm I guess I could join you."

"Great, c'mon," he continued to smile as she fell into stride with him. "I can't really cook so I hope you don't mind some blue berry muffins and orange juice," Teddy said as they entered the trailer.

"That sounds pretty good now that you mention it," she smiled at the sight of them sitting on his desk. "I'll just take one and you can put me to work," she thankfully bowed slightly as she took one.

"Whoa there, I promise I showered this morning and the boss would kill me if I over worked you," Teddy teased as he gestured to the seat in front of his desk.

She grinned at his kind offer and took a seat, "I can handle it."

"Something tells me that you probably can. But that doesn't mean you have to," he matched her grin as he took a seat across from her. "So...tell me a little about yourself."

Minzy sighed inwardly, noting to herself to not be early like this ever again. "What do you want to know?"

"I don't know, what do you do for fun? How many brothers and sisters do you have? Stuff like that," he suggested.

"Well," she took a piece of her muffin and thought about it. "I have a brother and I like to hang out with him and stuff."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, thanks for the muffin. But I'd like to get to work now if you don't mind," she plastered a smile on her face not wanting to say much more about herself.

He grinned and stood to his feet, "Of course, just like your father. He's such a great..."

"I'm nothing like my father and I would very much appreciate you to treat me just like another employee rather than a friend's daughter," she cut in before she could hear another praise of a man she thought differently on. He grew quiet for a moment and nodded before he went about giving her instructions on her daily tasks. Grateful for his professionalism, she gladly went to work. Sorting and organizing was just too easy, as she was able to finish it in half the time she was expected to finish. Asking for more work, she was able to do more than expected in such a short time. Watching how hard she worked, Teddy found it hard not to compare her to Mr. Gong, at least in his mind he would.

"I think you should take a lunch break. You've finished about three days worth of work in half a day," Taeyang chimed in as he approched her.

"Sure thing," Minzy nodded as she quickly took her leave.

But before she could walk out the door, Teddy called after her, "Minzy..." Watching as she paused in her tracks, he sighed. "I'm sorry for earlier. I'll respect your wishes and treat you as your own person and no one else."

"Thank you," she gave him an appreciative smile before walking out. Inhaling the fresh air, she walked down to a near by diner and took a seat by the window. Gazing out it, she sat staring at the construction work site thinking of her father. Gripping her cup tightly she didn't want to despise her new job. She pushed back the thoughts that subconsciously were eating at her. It was in her concentration that she didn't notice the young woman approching her.

"Someone looks all grown up," a voice rang through her ears.

"What the do you want," Minzy said flatly as she stayed staring out the window.

"Nothing from you," Bom coughed a laugh as she stood with a smirk on her face. "It must be hard having to work the Summer while the rest of us get to enjoy each others company before college starts."

Minzy remained unfazed as she finally turned to acknowledge Bom's presence, "I chose to work, unlike you who has to be given things. How is your Summer with Seunghyun so far? Did he tell you about his weekend or has he even spoken to you after you lied?" Seeing the reddening in her face told her all she needed to know. Minzy winked at her before standing, "I gotta get back to work. Have fun all by yourself this Summer!" Walking past her, she took every stride confidently as she left the diner.

"Minzy you're such a ! I ing hate you," Bom shouted after her. To which she only waved before walking down the street to enjoy the last couple of minutes of her lunch to herself.

Minzy slowly made her way back to the trailer, to over hear an annoying high pitch voice yelling at the top of her lungs. Not wanting to be caught in the storm, she stood in place, to watch the door swing open with Bom flying out. "Why?! I don't understand! I don't want her here!" Bom growled when her eyes met Minzy's, "You don't belong here!" She started stomping her way down to miss a step and fall flat on her face.

As much as Minzy wanted to laugh, she kept herself composed as Teddy along with other workers helped her to her feet. "Bom are you okay?"

"Yeah, are you," Minzy spoke with a monotone voice.

Bom bursted into tears as she hung onto Teddy for dear life, "I hate her!"

"What's going on," Mr. Gong stepped in to see what all the fuss was about.

Teddy shrugged as he held Bom in his arms, "She fell."

"Here let's get her to the hospital," Mr. Gong rushed to her aid and lifted her into his arms gently. "I got you Bom there's no need to cry," he cooed to her as he walked her to his car. "It's going to be okay," he kept repeating before he jumped into the car and rushed off.

Meanwhile Minzy stood in disbelief. Who was that man? She didn't know her father had a caring bone in him. But there he was acting so gentle and kind. And everyone just stood there as if this was normal to them. Mr. Gong the gentle, the kind, the hero at this construction site. Not to mention that it was towards someone who didn't deserve such attention. "She still acts like she's in high school," Teddy's voice echoed as he stood next to Minzy.

"It would seem so. I'm going to get back to work," she said as she swiftly moved to avoid any further conversation.

Minzy worked harder than she had earlier, finishing basically a week's worth of work. It wasn't to impress, though it had been the inital thought. She wanted nothing more than to push back the thoughts of her father's actions earlier that day. Working harder was the only thing that was keeping her grounded at the moment, before a strong hand took hold of her shoulder. "I think that's enough for the day."

"Let me just finish the last few in my hands then I'll go," Minzy half grinned before she turned back to what she was doing.

"Do you want to talk about it," he softly offered.

"I promise this is the last stack I'm going to do today," she brushed off his offer knowing very well what he was hinting towards.

He sighed as he stopped her, "Minzy you know what I'm talking about. You and Bom aren't the best of friends and on top of that your father..."

She spun around quickly and narrowed her eyes at him, "The only thing that I would like to talk about is work!"

"Then as your boss I ask that you take the rest of the week off. You've finished more than I thought you could handle."

"I can handle a lot thank you very much," she snapped.

"I can tell," he spoke softly as the thoughts of how she looked earlier that day.

It grew quiet for a moment before she spoke up, "Is there anything else you need?"

"For less hostility," he offered in a teasing manner.

She chuckled and nodded, "I'm sorry. Would you like me to finish more work before I leave?"

Teddy smiled as he shook his head, "No thank you. You've done more than your share. Next week I'll give you more to do."

"I'd appreciate it," Minzy smiled. "Then I'll take my leave."

"Good night Minzy and have a great weekend," he waved before she left.

Relieved to be home, she walked to the kitchen to find Zelo sitting at the table with food set out. "Hey, thought you'd like some dinner."

"I freaking love you Zelo," she sighed as she took a seat next to him.

The pair laughed at each other's day. Enjoying each other's company before they heard the front door open. The pair grew silent as their father walked into the kitchen. "Mr. Park has invited us to dinner at his home tommorrow." Minzy didn't say anything as she sat half way listening. "I expect you to..."

"Be on my best behavior I know," she snapped as she started to clean the table.

"Why are you trying to make my life at work harder than it needs to be," their father growled in frustration.

"Oh I'm sorry that your little princess fell flat on her ing face. She should watch where she's going," Minzy fired back.

Anger surged through their father as he threw a cup that shattered across the wall, "Leave that girl the alone!"

"Or what?! You're gonna throw me to the ground like you did to mom," she challenged him.

Mr. Gong stormed towards her, but before he could reach her Zelo was quick to Minzy's aid, "Don't you ing touch her!"

"Move boy," their father roared as he roughly shoved Zelo to send him tumbling back into Minzy.

Both went crashing down, before Mr. Gong pulled Minzy up by her neck. raising her into the air as he gripped her neck tightly. "ing kill me already," Minzy choked out as she felt her air way being constricted. Clawing at his arm, she felt like the room was spinning before she fell to the ground. Gasping for air, she felt herself being helped up as she tumbled towards Zelo's room. There Zelo locked the door and pushed his dresser in front of it before rushing over to Minzy.

"Are you okay," Zelo breathed as his eyes teared up.

Minzy nodded as she hugged her brother. Both sobbing as their father banged on the door yelling vulgar things at them.

Minzy awoke to the still night air, wiggling out of the arms of her over protective brother, she made her way to the bathroom. Flipping on the light, she hissed as she touched the markings on her neck. Splashing some cool water on it, she fought the stinging pain that burned deep within her.

The ride was silent as Minzy sat staring out the window as her father drove them to the Parks' residence. Not a word was said until they parked the car. "Mr. Park doesn't know about your mother."

"I don't think it really matters since he's never met her," she shrugged it off.

Her father reached out to grip her arm tightly, "Don't be a smart ."

"What, are you going to hit me in front of your boss' home," Minzy glared at him before she was reluctently released. "Let's just get this over with."

Mr. Gong made his way out before Minzy followed suit. "Well , I didin't think it was going to be a reunion," someone called out to which Minzy saw Fei standing smug before her.

"What are you doing here," Minzy said through gritted teeth.

"My friend invited me here. What's your excuse," Fei spoke with disgust.

But Minzy knowing exactly where she was, wasn't going to let her past ruin it for her, "I didn't think you knew what a friend was." Taking quicker strides she followed her father into the mansion where they were led into the dinning room.

"Please take a seat. Thank you for coming," Mr. Park smiled brightly as everyone was being seated. "I'd like to thank everyone here for coming. First off I'd like to offer my deepest apologizes to Minzy for my daughter's rudeness. Please know that Bom will no longer be impeding in work efforts. In fact, Minzy you have inspired me to also have my daughter work within the company..."

"Father..." Bom gasped in shock.

"Hush," he sternly shot a look at her before continuing. "Bom will learn the meaning of work. She will learn what it means to work for what you have this Summer..."

"With all due respect Mr. Park, your daughter and I do not see eye to eye," Minzy interjected.

Mr. Park nodded in understanding, "The more the reason my daughter will be working along side you."

Minzy was speechless, while Bom rose to her feet, "Father this isn't fair! This is all her fault! She shouldn't be working there in the first place..."

"When did I raise such a spoiled brat? You will do what I say and that's final," Mr. Park sternly spoke before Bom went rushing off in tears with Fei following suit.

"Sir you shouldn't be so harsh on her," Mr. Gong spoke up. "She's still so young."

"And so is your daughter, yet I don't see her acting like a little spoiled brat," Mr. Park shook his head in disbelief.

"Mr. Park with all due respect I will most likely withdrawal from your offer if I have to work with Bom. Please understand that I want to work, not make friends," Minzy cut in before her father could try to defend Bom again.

Mr. Park went quiet before Mr. Gong took it upon himself to explain, "Sir what she means to say is that maybe Bom would be able to work for you just not in the same area."

Minzy stood on her feet and bowed deeply, "I'm sorry sir but I mean exactly what I mean. I cannot work alongside your daughter, more like I refuse to. I apologize if I am coming off rude in any way, I don't intend to. I will make things easier and with all due respect withdrawal from my scholarship since it is causing such harship on your household. Thank you for your kindness and inviting me to your home."

Taking her leave, she felt lighter on her feet as she walked out the door. She decided to walk home instead of taking a cold ride home with her father. Pulling her heels off, she made her way down the driveway. "Is the dinner over already," a truck pulled up alongside her.

She grinned over to Teddy and waved, "No it hasn't started yet. Enjoy!"

"Where are you going," he frowned seeing her walking away with her shoes in hand.

She shrugged as she continued to walk, "Home."

"Home?! You're gonna walk all the way home without your shoes on," he coughed in disbelief. "Let me give you a ride."

She shook her head and tried to wave him off, "I'm okay. I want some fresh air. You should really head up there if you don't wanna miss the dinner."

To her surprise, he parked his car and fell into stride with her, "Then at least let me walk you home."

"Okay how about you just give me a ride so you can at least make it for dessert," Minzy gave in. She could sense he was the type of guy that would seriously walk her all the way home if he had to.

Teddy nodded as he opened the passenger side door to let her in, "Thanks for not being so stubborn."

As they rode in silence, Minzy was grateful that he didn't pressure her to talk. Leaning her head onto the window she sighed deeply before closing her eyes, "Do you know where I live?"

"I think so," he answered and that was all she needed before she dirfted off.

Minzy awoke to the soft music playing. Groaning, she turned to see Teddy smiling over at her. "Oh my goodness," she looked over to the time to see she had dirfted off to sleep longer than expected. "I'm so sorry."

"I didn't want to wake you. You were sleeping so peacefully," he grinned.

"You're so kind. Thanks for the ride. I guess I owe you for dinner and dessert since I made you miss it," she gave him an apologetic smile.

He shrugged it off as if it were nothing, "No worries, it was worth watching you sleep."

"Uh...that sounds so creepy," she chuckled at his statement.

"Not as creepy as you mumbling my name and saying that I was really hot in your sleep," he countered.

She gasped in horror, "I said what?!"

He laughed as he shook his head, "No, but the look on your face was worth the lie."

"Such a jerk!"

"A jerk you owe dinner and dessert too," he almost sang as a reminder.

She waved him off as she got out the car, "Thanks again."

"Sure thing, I'll see you next week," he waved as he began to drive off.

"Sure," she half smiled not wanting to tell him the truth.

Turning to make her way towards her home, she was greeted by Seunghyun, "Hey Minzy who was that?"

"A friend," was all she offered to say as she made her way into the house and into the kitchen. Grabbing a couple of items to make her something to eat.

"A friend huh," he followed her into the kitchen and continued to question her. "Was it a guy friend?"

"Maybe, are you here to see my brother," she asked as she sat at the table.

"Yeah. So was it a guy," he kept pestering her.

She sighed as she turned to look at him, "He's just a friend."

Seunghyun looked at her suspiciously, "Hmm...I guess he's a good lookin friend."

Minzy couldn't lie, Teddy was great looking, "I guess you could say that."

"Hey sis," Zelo appeared in the kitchen.

"Hey baby brother, do you mind kicking your friend out a little early today? He's being a little too nosey for my liking," she winked over at Seunghyun as she continued to eat.

"Only if you walk me out," Seunghyun wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"Gladly," she coughed a laugh as she made her way to the front door. Opening the door, she turned to come face to face with Seunghyun, "What?"

He stood only a breath away as he stared deeply in her eyes. Leaning forward he spoke softly against her lips, "You know what." Brushing his lips against hers, he smirked before taking his leave, "I'll see you later."

Rolling her eyes, she waved before closing the door. Sighing deeply she made her way to the kitchen and frowned, "I need your help."

Zelo nodded with a bright smile that gave her courage for what was to happen tonight.
