The YoonYul Wedding (Last Part)

At the hotel’s lobby

Yuri was facing back and forth in front of the ladies restroom. After the shocking encounter with her long lost mother earlier, Yoona immediately excused herself to the restroom, and Yuri just followed her suit.

“Sir, are you looking for someone?,” the cleaning worker ahjumma asked him in curious as she was watching him since then.

“Ermm.. y-yeah. I’m waiting for my wife. She has entered inside quite some time, so I’m worried if anything happened to her,” he replied, looking rather nervous.

“Oh, the beautiful pregnant lady with a nice white dress just now, right? I thought she’s already went out few minutes ago,” the ahjumma informed.

“Chincha? D-do you know where she was heading to after she went out?,” Yuri frantically asked. The ahjumma shook her head and smiled.

“Thank you, ahjumma!,” he thanked her and bowed before he dashed out of the restroom area. He then ran towards the lobby and stopped in the middle while his eyes wandering around the area. He wiped his sweat with the handkerchief, and his eyes continued to scan the area when suddenly he saw Yoona was standing while folding her arms at the glass wall near the entrance to the hotel’s cafe. Without waiting further, he immediately walked towards his wife, and slowing down his steps when he nearly approached her.

“Hey, baby,” he said, causing her startled and immediately turned towards him.

“H-hey,” she replied with a faint smile.

“I’m sorry, baby. I should have told you..,” Yuri was about to continue his words when Yoona suddenly leaned closer and stopped him with a peck on his lips as she smiled.

“It’s okay, honey. I know that you want to do this as a surprise for me. It’s just that.. I.. I still can’t do it,” she replied. Yuri sighed softly and nodded.

“Arasso. Let’s take a seat at the couch there,” he said as he grabbed his wife’s hand and lead her to the couch at the lobby area. After making sure his wife took her seat comfortably, Yuri sat next to her, and took her hand, caressing it gently.

“I’m sorry if I made this decision without your concern. To tell you the truth, I have discussed about this with your dad, and he was the one who gave me the details about your mother’s whereabouts,” he said while studied his wife’s face carefully.

“I know. Unnie had told me once that appa knew on eomma’s whereabouts. It’s just that, I didn’t care much about it, and I don’t want to know,” she replied. Yuri sighed softly, and pulled her closer into his arms.

“I didn’t know how much it hurts you back then, but you know, you always have me to support you in whatever circumstances it may occurs. I might sounds like being selfish here, but for you, for our family and our baby’s sake, can you just forgive her? We are going to have our own family soon. I have this small hope that our child will have a complete family, like grandparents from both sides. Can you do that for me, babe?,” Yuri softly said. Yoona sighed deeply.

“Arasso. I will try. But, I can’t guarantee I can treat her good. It will be super awkward for me,” she said as she finally relented. Yuri smiled as he kissed her temple.

“Let’s take one step at a time, okay? Don’t force yourself to it, let it comes naturally,” Yuri replied. Yoona nodded.

“Shall we go back to our reception party now?,” he asked.

“Yeah, let’s go,” she replied. Yuri then stood up, and helped his wife to get up from the couch.

“Yoong ah, are you okay?,” Mrs. Kwon asked the moment she saw Yoona entered the hall.

“I’m okay, mom,” she replied as she smiled. She then looked around, but she didn’t manage to catch her mother’s glimpse. Mrs. Kwon somehow knew whom she was looking for, and she smiled.

“Your mother has already went back to her hotel, sweetie. Ermm.. wait,” she then opened her handbag and took out a white envelope. She grabbed Yoona’s hand, and put the envelope into her palm.

“Here, she asked me to give this to you. Just open it after the reception party is over, arasso?,” she said and patted gently on Yoona’s shoulder.

“Dae, mom,” she replied while holding the envelope.

“Did you see your mother?,” Yuri asked. He just came back from meeting his ex-boss his business partner, Jaejoong and his family.

“She’s already left. Your mom said she left this to me,” Yoona replied while showing the white envelope that was in her hand. Yuri immediately looked at the envelope.

“You don’t want to open it now?,” he asked. Yoona shook her head.

“Mom suggests I open it after the reception party is over,” she replied.

“Arasso. Don’t feel sad and restless, okay? Let’s meet our friends before they left,” Yuri said while grabbing her hand and entwined their hands, and led her to the table where their friends were sitting.

YoonYul’s penthouse

The reception party has finally over and it went well like what it has planned. All guests, relatives and friends of the newlywed couple eventually leaving the venue and went back to their respective homes, Yuri told her parents and Yoona’s family that they wanted to go back to their penthouse. Yoona’s family were having their overnight at the hotel, while Yuri’s parents went back to the Kwon’s residence.

After taking her shower, Yoona slowly climb to the bed and immediately lie down. Her body was tired as they have spent the whole day for the wedding ceremony until the reception party. She couldn’t stand for too long due to her pregnancy, and it causing her to easily feel tired. She was about to close her eyes when suddenly something came across her mind. She slowly got up to take her clutch purse which she put inside the dressing room. She then took the white envelope which have been sealed, and tear the side of the envelope before she could take out the content. It’s a letter written by her mother. She took a seat in front of the dressing table, and began to read the latter.

My daughter, Im Yoona,

Can I call you by that? I don’t even know if I have a right to call you my daughter.

Congratulations! You finally have become a wife and soon-to-be a mother. I really hope that you will live happily with your beloved husband, Kwon Yuri. He is a good man, and you’re so lucky to have him. Treat him well, and love him wholeheartedly, arasso?

Yoong,

I know, if I seek the forgiveness from you, it is still not enough wash away the sin that I have done to you, to your unnie, and your father. I was so young and naive at that time, and being an obedient daughter, I had no choice but tried to fulfill my parents wish, to become a filial child. I accepted your father to be my husband, and performed my duty to be a wife, but not a good mother for my own child. I was selfish and become ignorant.

I feel regret for losing the precious time to watch you and your unnie grew up, and now, knowing that you two have already had your own family, I keep questioning myself whether I should be given another chance to feel the long lost happiness that I have been longing for. I feel lonely after my parents passed away. I have a thought to get back to your father, but I feel so ashamed for what I have done to him. So, I chose to live my own life in my hometown, Busan.

Dear Yoong,

Did you know, Yoong was the nickname that I gave to you? I bet, your father never told you about this, right? And I thought he’s already forgot about it. Do you know what it means? It means ‘brave’. I wanted you to be a brave kid when I’m not around, and indeed, you have become brave to live your life without me.

Believe me when I say that I never hated you and your unnie, Yoong. You two were the most precious gifts that I have ever had in my life. It’s just that, I didn’t know how to cherish for you two. Please forgive me.

I wish you to have a happy life with the beloved people around you.

Yoona didn’t realize since when the tears rolled down her cheeks. She didn’t know how to feel about it because all this while, she lived without her mother's love and care since she was small. But, after reading this heartfelt letter from her mother, she felt sympathized for her. All this while, her mother lives in regret. She didn’t know whether she should give her a chance to feel the happiness, or just to continue ignoring her. She couldn’t make a decision, so she ended up crying as she felt a frustration. She then felt a sudden warmth engulfing her. She lifted her face, and could see her husband was hugging her from the back.

“You can let out your sadness and frustration if you want to. Don’t hold it back. I’m ready to be your punching bag, a shoulder to cry on, or whatever you want,” Yuri said. Yoona couldn’t hold her emotions as she suddenly got up and hugged Yuri while crying. Yuri hugged her back, and patted on her back gently.

“I hate her! I hate her for making me feel like this,” she said in between her cry. Yuri just smiled and continued patting on her back.

“Shh.. it’s alright, baby, it’s alright. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes good things fall apart, so better things can come together,” he said. Yoona then stopped crying, and pulled off the hug while staring at her husband.

“I-Isn’t that Marilyn Monroe’s quotes?,” she asked between her sobbings. Yuri burst out into laughing while pulling his wife back into his arms and hugged her. Yoona couldn’t help but joining him laughing.

“Yes, and I purposely said it just to lighten up your mood, baby. See? You’re laughing now,” he replied. Yoona pouted while pinching his arm, causing the latter yelped in pain.

“I hate you,” she mumbled, and tighten the hug.

“I love you,” Yuri replied with a smile. He then kissed on top of her head before he pulled off the hug. He wiped the remaining tears on Yoona’s cheeks and pecked on her lips.

“Feeling better now?,” he asked. Yoona sighed.

“I don’t know what to feel, honey. Part of me wants to forgive her, but another part still hates her. Tell me, what should I do?,” she replied.

“Forgive? But not to forget because it will become a lesson for us in the future. Every child needs care and attention from both parents. If the parents neglecting their responsibilities, that means they neglecting the trust that God has given to them. A child is a blessed from God, baby,” he said.

“Why are you so good in your words for making me feel better, honey ah?,” she asked. Yuri let out a smile before he answered.

“Because we completes each other. You once helped me to reconcile with my brother, and I owed you for that. And this time, let me repay you back,” he replied.

“I did that because I didn’t want both of you to fall apart, and keep on hating each other,” she said.

“See? The same thing goes with you and your mother,” he replied, causing Yoona fell into silence for a while. “You can hate her all you want, but until when? After all, she’s still your mother, a woman who has given birth to you into this world. If not because of her, I won’t be able to get married to you and soon to have our own child. This is the only way for me to thank her, and to help you reconcile with your mother,” he said.

Yoona was silent again, tried to ponder on what her husband had said just now. She have to admit, Yuri was absolutely right. When will she going to stop hating her mother? It doesn’t give any benefits to her if she continue to act like one. So, after taking a deep breath, and exhale it slowly, she finally made her decision.

“Arasso. You’re right, honey. I will see her on tomorrow. Can you please call her, inform her that we are going to meet her for lunch? I will call my dad and unnie to ask them to join us too,” she said.

“Sure, babe. I will call her right now,” Yuri replied, and pecked on her cheek before he went out of the dressing room to make a phone call to his mother-in-law.

The next day

“Thank you for coming, omonim,” Yuri thanked his mother-in-law as soon as she entered inside the restaurant. He was waiting for her arrival, while Yoona and the rest were waiting at the dining room which has been reserved for them earlier.

“Thanks to you too, Yuri ah. I can finally meet my daughters,” she said as she smiled. She couldn’t help but to feel nervous as this will be the first time ever in her life she will meet them again. Yuri could sense that his mother-in-law was a bit tense. He then smiled and patted on her shoulder.

“Don’t be nervous, omonim. I have already have a heart-to-heart talk with them before you came, so just calm down, okay?,” Yuri said. His mother-in-law just smiled and nodded. He then pulled the door’s holder, and gestured her to enter inside the dining room.

“A-annyeong haseyo,” she nervously greets them and bowed a little. Yoona’s father and the rest greets her back as they did the same.

“Have a seat, Yoojung ah,” Mr. Im said to his ex-wife as he pulled the chair for her.

“Thank you, oppa,” she thanked him and took her seat. She then glanced at Yoona who was sitting next to her, and her elder daughter who was sitting across her. Yuri then took a seat next to his wife, and patted gently on her thigh before he started to speak.

“Thank you omonim, abonim, noona and hyung in joining us for lunch today. As I have said earlier, this is about the right time for us to bond together as a family. As a new member to the Im’s family, I would like to apologize if there’s any inconvenience that might occured later. Please, don’t be awkward. We can talk casually without thinking about the past. Just like what Marianne Williamson used to say, by bringing the past into the present, we create a future just like a past. By letting the past go, we make room for miracles. So, I hope after this bonding time, there were more miracles will happen in the future. Thank you,” he said.

“Thank you, Yul ah. Today is also a miracle to me, to be able having lunch with my children, my sons-in-law, and my grandchildren. And, not to forget, to the mother of my daughters here. Yoojung ah, thank you for coming. Don’t think too much about the past, arasso? Our two angels here will forever be your angels no matter what,” Mr. Im said earnestly. His heartfelt words causing Yoona, her elder sister and her mother teared up. Her elder sister suddenly got up from her seat, and dashed towards her mother, hugging the older woman.

“Mianhae, Yoonhee ah,” she said as she returned the hug and both of them crying into each other’s arms. “Jeongmal mianhae,” her mother apologized.

“Gwenchana, eomma,” Yoonhee replied and patted on her mother’s back. She then gestured her husband and her son to come to her. “Eomma, this is my husband, Kwon Young Jae, and this is our son, Kwon Yoonho,” she introduced them to her mother. “Yoonho ah, say hello to halmeoni,” she said to her son.

“Annyeonghaseyo halmeoni, Kwon Yoonho imnida,” he greets his grandmother and bowed.

“Annyeonghaseyo Yoonho ah,” his grandmother greets him back with a smile, and gently pulled the little boy by his arm to hug him. She patted on little Yoonho’s back before she pulled off the hug.

“How old are you, sweetie?,” she asked.

“I’m five years old, halmeoni,” little Yoonho replied, showing his five fingers to his halmeoni. She chuckled as she found his act was cute.

“Aigoo.. You’re so cute and brilliant, Yoonho ah,” she said ruffled the little boy’s hair gently.

Yuri smiled while looking at them. He then gently elbowed his wife. Yoona turned to look at him with a glare.

“Just go, baby,” he whispered to her and smiled. Yoona sighed deeply. She then slowly got up from her seat with the help from her husband. She slowly walked towards where her mother was.

“Yoong ah,” her mother called her. They were standing while facing each other. Yoona looked at her mother while studied her face. Not much wrinkles, and she’s still beautiful as for a fifty five years old woman. She realized that her sister resembles their mother a lot. Her mother grabbed her both hands, and pulled her into a hug.

“Mianhae,” she said as tears rolled down her cheeks. She could feel her shoulder started getting wet. Yoona couldn’t say a word as she was crying, pouring out her pent up emotions she’s been holding for a long time.

“Jeongmal mianhae,” her mother apologized.

“G-gwenchana, e-eomma,” she said between her sobbings. Her mother smiled and patted gently on her back before she pulled off the hug. She then wiped the tears from her daughter’s cheeks.

“You resembles your appa a lot, sweetie” her mother said. Yoona smiled and nodded.

“Imo and unnie said the same thing,” she replied. Her mother smiled and her eyes shifted on Yoona’s little bloated stomach. She put her hand on her stomach and caressed it gently.

“Have you done with the ultrasound scan?,” her mother asked. Yoona shook her head.

“We haven’t done it yet. But, Yuri and me didn’t mind about the baby’s gender. As long our baby is healthy, it’s fine for us,” she replied. Her mother nodded understandingly.

“Alright, Yoong and Yoong’s eomma, can we proceed with our lunch now? I feel so hungry,” Mr. Im said, causing the rest laughed at him.

“Sorry,” both mother and daughter said and laughed in unison. The Im’s family members couldn’t help but to smile over their act as they felt relieved that the two were finally reconciled after what had happened.

Yoona and her mother then went back to their respective seats, and Yuri immediately called the waiter, asking him to start serving the food and drinks.

After the lunch, the Ims family continued their random chatting while having desserts. Yoona couldn't stop eating the ice cream, but Yuri and her mother forbids her from eating the cold dessert more.

“Yoong ah, you can eat all you want after giving birth and confinement. But right now, just having it a little bit, arasso? It’s not good for your health and for the baby as well,” her mother said.

“Aishh..,” she hissed sulkily while putting the big bowl of the ice cream on the table. Yuri just chuckled on her childish act and side hugging her.

“Just listen to your eomma, babe. She is more experienced than you,” Yuri said. Yoona sighed in defeat.

“Arasso,” she replied. Her mother smiled in contented while looking at the two.

“I’m so glad that you married to Yoong, Yuri ah. Please treat her well, and love her wholeheartedly,” his mother-in-law said.

“I will, omonim. Don’t worry,” Yuri replied as he smiled warmly. “Ermm.. are you going to extend your stay here, omonim?,” Yuri asked. His mother-in-law shook her head.

“I will be going back to Busan this late afternoon. Yoong’s appa will send me to the airport. I have an order from client which need to be send to their place on tomorrow,” she replied. Yoona then grabbed her mother’s hand, and caressed it gently.

“I want you to come to the hospital when I’m giving a birth, eomma. I want to introduce our child to you first,” she said. Her mother patted on her hand and smiled.

“I will be more than glad, Yoong ah. Thank you,” she replied. Yoona just smiled in return.

The Ims continued their chatting until it’s about the time for them to return to their respective homes. Yoona wanted to join her father in sending her mother to the airport, but her mother advised her not to do so because of her condition. She was sulking once again, but her mood suddenly becomes brighter when her mother promised to visit her again before she will giving birth in another three months.
