Bonding time - SooSica and YoonYul

 

“Yo, buddy! What’s up?”, Sooyoung answered the phone call. The caller is no other than his best friend a.k.a his ex-housemate, Kwon Yuri.

 

“I’m good, Soo. How about you?”, Yuri asked.

 

“Mine’s good too. How’s Yoona? Did she treat you good?”, Sooyoung teasingly asked.

 

“Hahahaha.. of course, though. But, she’s keep on vomiting lately. I feel so worried about her”, Yuri replied.

 

“Waeyo? She’s not feeling well?”, Sooyoung asked in curious.

 

“Anni. She is.. ermm..”, Yuri felt contemplated whether he should tell his best friend or not about the good news.

 

“Yah, she’s what? What’s wrong with your fiancee?”, Sooyoung impatiently asked.

 

“Aishh.. well.. actually.. she’s.. she’s in three weeks pregnant”, Yuri shyly said.

 

“Mworago?”, Sooyoung exclaimed in surprise, causing the sleeping princess who was lying on the couch beside him startled, slowly her eyes fluttering opened.

 

“W-waeyeo?”, she asked with a weak voice.

 

“Oh, I’m so sorry, babe. Yuri is calling me. I’m sorry. Just continue your sleep, okay?”, Sooyoung said while patting on her back, comforting her back to sleep.

 

“Hmm..”, she replied, and slowly she fell back to sleep.

 

“What happen?”, Yuri asked over the line.

 

“I was accidentally awakened Jessica from her sleep”, Sooyoung replied, causing Yuri to chuckle on his words. “Hey, let’s meet up. I missed you, though. We never introduced our fiancee to each other, right?”, Sooyoung said.

 

“Yeah, I missed you too, buddy. But, where do you want us to meet? Any idea?”, Yuri asked. Sooyoung puffed his cheeks while doing his thinking. He suddenly got an idea.

 

“Alright, listen. Since your fiancee is not feeling well, why don’t we meet up at your place?”, he suggested.

 

“My place? Err.. it’s Yoona’s actually.. hehehe..”, Yuri replied while giggling.

 

“Yah, it doesn’t matter, though! Your place or hers, it’s still the same”, Sooyoung said while rolling his eyes annoyingly.

 

“Ara, ara. Then, what are we going to do on our meeting?”, he asked again.

 

“Maybe we can have our lunch or dinner together. Ermm.. I was thinking that maybe we can surprise our fiancee by cook for them, how about that?”, Sooyoung suggested.

 

“Hmm.. I like the idea. So, who’s going to do the groceries?”, Yuri asked.

 

“Since I’m the one who suggesting this, I will do the groceries. Any idea on what to cook? I suggest that we can cook for lunch”, Sooyoung said.

 

“Ah, that's good. Alright, I agree. Ermm.. my fiancee is no feeling well, and I think I will just cook porridge for her. About the menu, maybe we can cook simple Korean dishes like kimchi stew, japchae, bulgogi, how about that?”. Yuri suggested.

 

“Sounds delicious to me”, Sooyoung replied as he chuckled. Yeah, he’s a shikshin, remember?

 

“Tch, like I don’t know you well. So, how about the time? This weekend?”, Yuri asked.

 

“Let me check with Jessica first, okay? I will get back to you once I confirmed with her”, Sooyoung replied.

 

“Sure, buddy. Alright, I need to hang up now. Yoona is calling me. See you soon, buddy!”, Yuri said.

 

“Okay. Congratulations, and  send my regards to her”, Sooyoung replied.

 

“Sure do. Thanks, buddy. Okay, goodbye!”, Yuri bid his goodbye.

 

“You’re welcome. Goodbye!”, Sooyoung ended the call. He put back his phone on the coffee table, and was about to close his eyes when he felt Jessica was stirred from her sleep.

 

“Why Yuri called you?”, she asked weakly. She lifted her head to look at Sooyoung.

 

“Oh, he said he missed me.. hehe..”, Sooyoung replied while giggling. Jessica slapped his chest, causing the latter groaning in pain.

 

“Oww.. I’m telling the truth, babeee”, he whined.

 

“Sorry!”, Jessica smiled apologetically while caressing the spot where she slapped earlier.

 

“He said he wanted to meet us. He kind of missed our bonding time. Besides, he shared a good news just now”, Sooyoung said.

 

“Chincha? What’s that?”, Jessica asked while staring at him with full interest.

 

“His fiancee, Yoona. She’s in three weeks pregnant”, Sooyoung replied.

 

“Jeongmal?”, Jessica asked with her eyes widened in surprise. Sooyoung nodded his head smiling.

 

“Aww.. they both must be happy!”, Jessica said enthusiastically. Sooyoung chuckled in amusement.

 

“Of course, though. That’s why he suggested for us to meet. He wanted to share this good news while having a bonding time with us”, Sooyoung said as he put his hand on Jessica’s shoulder, and pulled her closer to hug her.

 

“My best buddies are now father soon-to-be, I’m so happy for them, you know”, Sooyoung said while caressing her hair. Both of them then fell into silence, enjoying each other’s embrace.

 

“Do you.. want to be a father too?”, Jessica asked out of sudden while playing his shirt’s button.

 

“Mwoh?”, Sooyoung said in surprise. He tried to regain his conscious upon hearing those words from his fiancee.

 

“Aishh.. you heard me just now, right?”, Jessica replied while burying her face shyly on his chest. Sooyoung giggled on her sudden shyly act.

 

“Are you ready to become a mother then? If you’re ready, I’m more than ready to become a father to our future child”, Sooyoung said softly. He heard Jessica let out a soft sigh.

 

“I.. I don’t know. Don’t get me wrong here, baby. I love kids, but I’m afraid I don’t know how to take care of them”, she said. Sooyoung smiled upon hearing her answer.

 

“Don’t worry too much, babe. We can take care of them together. I don’t know either, but we can learn from our parents as well”, Sooyoung replied. Jessica slowly lifted her head, and staring at Sooyoung.”

 

“Chinca?”, she asked while staring deeply into Sooyoung’s eyes, seeking for his assurance.

 

“Dae. I know you can. I will help you, and will always be by your side. You will become a wonderful mother to our child”, Sooyoung said with a smile, patting her head gently.

 

“Tch, such a sweet talker!”, she replied, playfully slapping his chest.

 

“Yah! I’m telling the truth, though! It’s my dream too. I want to have child from the woman that I love the most, who’s willing to spend her lifetime with me, raising our child together, and being a good parents. Don’t you want that too?”, Sooyoung said rather serious. Jessica smiled upon hearing his words. Deep down in her heart she knows, Sooyoung is the best man she ever fall in love with. She believed he will become a good father to their future child too.

 

“I know it, baby. I know that I can depend on you. That’s why I’m willing to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you, Choi Sooyoung, soon-to-be father to our child”, Jessica said as she pecked on his lips.

 

“Aishhh..”, Sooyoung smiled sheepishly, earning a laughter from Jessica. “I love you too, Jessica Jung Sooyeon, soon-to-be mother to our child”, he replied while pulling her for a tight hug. They enjoyed in each other’s embrace ,and fell into silence again.

 

“So, do you have schedules this weekend?”, he asked while rubbing her back gently. Fifteen seconds had passed, but, he didn’t hear any answer from his beloved fiancee.

 

“Babe?”, Sooyoung called his fiancee, but he still got no answer. Not long after, he heard a soft snore coming from the latter. He chuckled after he found Jessica has already fallen asleep.

 

“Aigoo.. such a sleepyhead!”, he muttered. “Alright, let’s sleep some more, okay?”, he continued as he closed his eyes, joining his fiancee into the dreamland.

Later on Saturday morning, in front of the supermarket building

 

Since Sooyoung has already told Jessica beforehand that they were going to have lunch with YoonYul couple, they went for groceries shopping at the supermarket nearby their place. Coincidently, Jessica doesn’t have any schedules during weekend, so, Sooyoung practically ‘dragged’ her to have their groceries shopping together. Well, she’s not a morning person when she have her break time though.. lol!

 

“Alright, we are here!”, Sooyoung announced soon after they arrived at the parking space of the supermarket building. He turned his head towards the passenger’s side, and giggled silently when he saw his fiancee was in a deep slumber.

 

“Aigoo, are you that sleepy, babe? I should just let her sleep at home”, he mumbled. He slowly patted her thigh to wake her up.

 

“Babe, sweetie, wake up. We are already here”, Sooyoung said softly while keep on patting her thigh.

 

“Huh?”, Jessica startled, and slowly opened her eyes. “W-we have arrived?”, she asked with a weak voice.

 

“Yes, sweetie. Kaja!”, he replied. Being a gentleman, he helped Jessica to unbuckle her seatbelt.

 

“Thanks, baby”, Jessica thanked her.

 

“You’re welcome, babe”, he replied with a smile. He then got off the car, and rushed to Jessica’s side to open the door for her.

 

“You don’t have to do that all the time, sweetie”, Jessica said.

 

“I want to. I want to be a romantic person only for you, my love”, he replied while holding out his hand, waiting for Jessica to grab it.

 

“Aishh..”, she smiled sheepishly. “Arasso, cheesy boy!”, she said, causing Sooyoung to chuckle. She grabbed Sooyoung’s hand, and slowly got off the car.

 

“Alright, let’s go!”, he said while intertwining their hands, and walked towards the main entrance of the building.

“Baby, who’s going to cook for our lunch? Is it Yoona?”, Jessica asked while watching her fiance busy picking some ingredients, and put them inside the cart.

 

“Yoona is still not feeling well, babe. Yuri and me will cook the lunch”, Sooyoung replied, and started to push the cart and walked to the meat section. Jessica held his arm, and followed suit.

 

“Chincha? Yuri can cook too?”, she asked in surprise. Ever since they lived together, Sooyoung has took the responsibility to cook for them as Jessica didn’t know how to cook.

 

“Of course, sweetie. We learnt a lot from Taeng when we were living together. Taeng is a great cook, you know. He always cook for us whenever he had free time”, Sooyoung replied.

 

“Chincha? Wow, his fiancee must be so lucky, huh?”, Jessica said.

 

“Of course, though”, Sooyoung replied.

 

“And, I’m so lucky to meet you too. You’re my great cook too, you know”, Jessica said while wrapping her arm around his waist.

 

“Jeongmal? Thanks babe”, Sooyoung thanked her for the compliment while grinning dorkily, earning a chuckle from the latter.

 

“Ermm.. babe, don’t you want to learn to cook from me? I can teach you..”, Sooyoung was about to continue his words when Jessica suddenly raised her hand, gesturing him to stop talking.

 

“Thanks, but no thanks, baby. You know, me and kitchen doesn’t clique”, she said, causing Sooyoung to burst into laughter. “Yah! I’m telling you the truth, though!”, she snapped at him while slapping his arm.

 

“Arasso, arasso. I don’t mind being your cook for the rest of your life”, he said cheekily.

 

“Aishh..”, she smiled shyly while playfully slapping his arm. The two then burst into laughter once again.

 

“Alright, let’s speed up our groceries shopping. Yuri and Yoona are waiting for us”, he said as he started to push the cart away from the meat section. Jessica linked her arm through his, and walking together to other sections.

“Hmm.. number 1205. I think this is the one”, Sooyoung said.

 

“You think so?”, Jessica asked as the two were standing in front of the apartment’s door.

 

“Yup. Yuri texted me the apartment’s number just now. Babe, can you please press the doorbell?”, Sooyoung replied while putting down some plastic bags on the floor.

 

“Sure, sweetie”, Jessica said, and quickly walked closer to the door, and press the doorbell.

 

“DING! DONG!”

 

“Coming!”, they heard a voice shouting from inside the apartment. A few seconds later, the door swung opened.

 

“Hey, guys! Welcome! Let’s get inside”, Yuri said as he welcomed the couple.

 

“Hi, Yuri! It’s nice to finally meeting you”, Jessica greeted him.

 

“Hi, Jessica! Yeah, nice to meet you too. Please come in. Yoona is at the living room”, Yuri replied as he stood aside to let Jessica in.

 

“Hey, buddy! Can you help me carry these?”, Sooyoung said as he took the plastic bags he put on the floor earlier, and handed them to Yuri.

 

“Sure, bro. Wow, what did you buy, huh? These are a lot!”, Yuri said in surprise while lifting the plastic bags.

 

“Aishh.. you know I’m a shikshin. Of course half of the food today are mine”, Sooyoung jokingly said while giggling. Yuri just rolled his eyes at his best friend’s antics, and carried the plastic bags inside the apartment, followed by Sooyoung. They then made a stop at the living room, approaching the two ladies who were busy chatting.

 

“Alright ladies. Make yourself comfortable while we are preparing the lunch, okay?”, Yuri said while lifting the plastic bags in his both hands.

 

“Okay”, Yoona and Jessica replied in unison. The two guys then continued to walk towards the kitchen.

 

“How are you doing, Yoona?”, Jessica asked.

 

“I’m good, Sica unnie. It’s just that I feel a bit under the weather”, she replied as she smiled faintly.

 

“You looked pale, dear. Don’t you want to try to eat something? I heard seaweed soup is good to be taken to reduce nausea”, Jessica said.

 

“Chincha?”, Yuri told me the same, unnie. But I have never tried it. I’m afraid I will vomit after eating it”, she replied.

 

“Just try it, okay? I’m sure it works. Did you take any supplements?”, Jessica asked.

 

“Dae, unnie. Yuri bought some after being recommended by the doctor”, Yoona replied.

 

“Ah, good to know that. Yuri must be so happy to become a father soon, right?”, Jessica said.

 

“Ermm.. yeah.. you can say that, unnie. He automatically become overprotective towards me and the baby”, Yoona replied as she smiled sheepishly. Jessica giggled upon hearing her words.

 

“Of course he will do anything for you, dear. Who doesn’t, right?”, Jessica said with a smile. Yoona nodded her head in agreement.

Meanwhile, at the kitchen

 

The two besties were busy preparing ingredients to cook while chatting.

 

“Soo, is it okay with this size?”, Yuri lifted a slice of beef which he cut some earlier. He was in a middle of preparing the beef to cook bulgogi.

 

“Yeah, it’s okay, just nice, bro”, Sooyoung replied while showing his thumb up at Yuri.

 

“Arasso. How’s your japchae?”, Yuri asked, glancing at his best friend.

 

“About almost seventy percent done”, he replied while putting the glass noodle inside the big bowl. His hands quickly doing the work as he took the pan, and put it on the stove. He starts cooking japchae by heating the oil and saute the chopped garlic.

 

“Wow, smells good, bro”, Yuri said.

 

“Hahaha! Wait till I finish cooking this japchae, bro. You will asking for more after you taste it”, Sooyoung proudly stated.

 

“Tch.. so full of yourself! You should try my bulgogi first, and you will cry while praising on how delicious the taste of my bulgogi”, Yuri said as he doesn’t want to lose to his best friend. Sooyoung chuckled on his words as he found it was funny.

 

“Aigoo.. what are we doing right now? Are we in the middle of competing each other just like the TV program MasterChef, or what?”, Sooyoung said jokingly, earning a laughter from his best friend.

 

“You started it first, bro. I just follow suit”, Yuri replied, causing Sooyoung to stuck out his tongue at him and laughed. Yuri then joining him laughing too.

Back to the living room

 

“Our chef seemed like enjoying their work at the kitchen, eh?”, Jessica said while giggling. Their fiance’s laughter could be heard from the living room.

 

“Yeah. I wonder what they had done so far. Want to join me doing a site visit, unnie?”, Yoona said jokingly.

 

“Sure, why not? Kaja!”, Jessica replied as she got up from her seat, and holding out her hand to Yoona.

 

“Kaja!”, Yoona said while grabbing Jessica’s hand, and quickly she got up from the couch. Both girls then slowly leaving the living room, heading to the kitchen.

“Hey, what are you girls doing here?”, Yuri said soon after he noticed they were entering the kitchen. His hand was busy stirring the bulgogi inside the pan. Yoona patted the stool, gesturing Jessica to take a seat next to her at the kitchen island.

 

“Hey, babe! Are you already hungry?”, Sooyoung said as he walked towards the kitchen island, carrying a bowl of freshly cooked japchae. He placed the bowl on it.

 

“You can say so. But, we’re actually heard you guys seemed like having fun in the kitchen just now from outside, so that’s why we came here. Just want to check on you guys”, Jessica replied with a smile.

 

“Ah.. we’re actually having a cooking competition here, right buddy?”, Sooyoung said while giving a wink at his best friend. Yuri shook his head while giggling.

 

“Don’t listen to him, Sica. We’re  just joking with each other while cooking”, Yuri said. He left his cooking for a while, and sat next to Yoona.

 

“Hey, are you okay, babe?”, Yuri asked, caressing her back hair gently.

 

“Yeah, I’m okay, honey”, Yoona replied with a smile.

 

“Yuri ah, can I suggest on something?”, Jessica said. Both Yuri and Yoona quickly turned their heads towards Jessica.

 

“Sure, Sica. What is it?”, Yuri replied.

 

“Ermm.. I just want to suggest if you can cook seaweed soup for Yoona instead of porridge. You know, it can reduce her nausea”, Jessica suggested.

 

“Wow, chincha? How did you know it, babe?”, Sooyoung who was busy chopping some veggies suddenly stopping his work for a while. He cleaned up his wet hands using the kitchen towel on the kitchen counter, and immediately took a seat next to his fiancee.

 

“Of course from my reading, sweetie”, Jessica replied smilingly. “And, Yoona said Yuri knew about it too, right Yuri?”, Jessica said while glancing at Yuri. Yuri just nodded his head.

 

“Ah, I see. So, how to make it? Are we just going to put the seaweed inside the boiling water, or we need to add other ingredients inside?”, Sooyoung asked while glancing at Jessica and Yuri back and forth.

 

“No, silly. You need to soak the dried seaweed in water until it softens, and adding the seaweed in soup stock. The stock could be made from beef or seafood such as mussels, clams and dried fish. Some people usually adding sliced beef inside, and they seasoned it with soy sauce or salt, additional flavoring added with minced garlic and sesame oil. They called it ‘miyeok guk’”, Yuri gave his detailed explanation. Sooyoung was dumbfounded as he heard on his best friend’s explanation, while Jessica and Yoona just nodded their head.

 

“Wow, Kwon Yuri. You sounded like a nutritionist though”, Sooyoung said, earning laughter from others.

 

“So, do we have the said ingredients to make the soup?”, Jessica asked.

 

“Yup. I was planning to make it after we are done preparing the main dishes for lunch. Babe, want to join me making the soup?”, Yuri said as he glanced and Yoona, and put his arm around her shoulder.

 

“Yeah, why not?”, Yoona replied, leaning her head on Yuri’s shoulder.

 

“Arasso. I will prepare the ingredients and the tools, and you just do it from here, okay?”, Yuri said as he ruffled his fiancee’s hair.

 

“What about me?”, Jessica asked, looking at Yuri and Sooyoung back and forth.

 

“You can help Sooyoung to prepare ingredients for kimchi stew as well”, Yuri replied.

 

“Come on, baby. Let me help you to put on your apron”, Sooyoung said he got up from the stool, and pulled Jessica’s hand to get up.

 

“Okay, bring it on, baby!”, Jessica exclaimed while winked at Sooyoung seductively.

 

“Aishh… these two. Behave will you?”, Yuri scoffed, earning laughter from the rest.

“Jealous, huh?”, Sooyoung said teasingly.

 

“Yah! I’m not, though!”, Yuri exclaimed while rolling his eyes annoyingly. The SooSica couple and Yoona just laughed at him. They then continued with their respective work in preparing the lunch.

“How was it?”, Yuri asked after he put the spoon into Yoona’s mouth to taste the ‘miyeok guk’. Yoona her lips, and slowly gulped the savory liquid.

 

“Mmm.. mashisseoyo! (delicious!)”, Yoona said while nodding her head.

 

“Alright. Your lunch is ready. Let me put it into the bowl first, okay?”, Yuri said as he scooped some seaweed soup from the pot, and put it into the bowl. Sooyoung and Jessica who had just finished cooking kimchi stew immediately approaching the YoonYul couple.

 

“Hey, Yul. Can we taste the soup too?”, Sooyoung said while looking into the ‘miyeok guk’ pot.

 

“Sure, buddy. Don’t worry. It’s more than enough for us to eat. Are you guys already finished cooking the kimchi stew?”, he asked.

 

“Yup. It’s all done and ready to eat. Let me check the rice first”, Sooyoung said.

 

“Arasso. Ermm.. babe, can you please help us to prepare the table?”, Yuri said to Yoona.

 

“Okay, honey. Come, Sica unnie. Let’s prepare the table”, Yoona said while approaching Jessica, and slowly grabbed the latter’s hand, and lead her to the dining room.

“Oh my God! There goes my diet!”, Jessica said while rubbing her cute bloated tummy, earning a laugh from Sooyoung and the rest.

 

“Aishh.. this is all your fault, baby. Who told you to add more rice into my bowl, huh?”, she said while slapping Sooyoung’s arm.

 

“Oww!”, Sooyoung groaned. “Why is it my fault now? You said all food are delicious, and asking me for more rice, so I just complied, though”, he replied while caressing his sore arm.

 

“Guys, guys! It’s not good to fight in front of food though. Sica ah, don’t worry much, okay? You can always gain back your ideal weight after this. Keep on doing your exercise, especially with Sooyoung”, Yuri said teasingly before he burst into laughter. Yoona widened her eyes upon hearing his words, and automatically slapped on his arm.

 

“Yah, Kwon Yuri! You want to die?”, Sooyoung snapped while shooting his icy glare at him. Jessica couldn’t help but to giggle, and her face turned red due to the embarrassment.

 

“Tch, Choi Sooyoung! You and your dirty mind. Exercise that I intended are exercise like training at the gym, jogging, or something like that though”, Yuri explained as he rolled his eyes.

 

“Then why are you laughing after you said that? You’re the one who had a dirty mind”, Sooyoung replied as he stuck his tongue out at him. Yoona and Jessica just shook their head, watching their fiance’s childish antics.

 

“Just let those kids be, Yoona. Let’s continue to eat”, Jessica said as she gestured Yoona to continue eating. Yoona just chuckled upon hearing her words.

“Hey, thanks for coming, buddy”, Yuri said, giving his hug to his best friend and patted on his back.

 

“Don’t mention it, bro. We need to visit each other often. Sica can be friends with Yoona too”, Sooyoung said while glancing at Jessica.

 

“Yeah. They can become a shopping buddy too besides gossiping buddy”, Yuri said with a chuckle.

 

“Yah!”, Yoona exclaimed while slapping on his arm.

 

“Guys are gossiping too, though. Sometimes they’re more worse than girls, right Yoona?”, Jessica said while putting her arm on Yoona’s shoulder.

 

"You're right, Sica unnie!", Yoona replied while giving her thumbs up.

 

“Alright. You better stop right now Yul before they will teaming up together to beat you”, Sooyoung said jokingly.

 

“Arasso, arasso. My arm already become numb though”, Yuri replied, still caressing his sore arm.

 

“Serves you right!”, Yoona said as she stuck her tongue out at her fiance.

 

“Aishh..”, Yuri childishly pouted, earning a laughter from the rest.

 

“Alright, take care of yourself and the baby too, okay? You need to eat more, and get more rest”, Jessica said while slowly pulling Yoona into a hug.

 

“Dae, unnie. You take care too”, Yoona replied as she returned the hug.

 

“We should invite Tae and his fiancee to join our gathering in the future. It will be more fun, right?”, Yuri said.

 

“Yeah. I will inform him after he come back from LA later”, Sooyoung replied. “Alright, we need to go now. Thanks buddy, Yoona for having us here. We will see you later”, Sooyoung said.

 

“Thanks for coming too, Soo oppa, Sica unnie”, Yoona replied, and bowed slightly at the couple. The SooSica couple bowed at them back, and waved their hands at YoonYul before leaving their apartment.

Chinggu annyeong! Yeah, I know, I know. It's been a long time since I updated this fic, right? Mianhae! I'm so sorry guys for abandon this fic for awhile. No, I'm not going to end this fic, or stop writing. It's just that sometimes when I have a writer's block, there's nothing I could do except to do my reading on other fanfics as well, to get some ideas on what to put on my next update.
