Live not for the past but for what lies ahead

 

At the photo studio, during break time

 

“I heard from your manager that you are going to get married soon”, Geun Suk said. Both of them were having photoshoot for winter fashion by a well-known winter clothes manufacturer.

 

“Yeah, why?”, Yoona asked nonchalant. Her eyes were busy scanning through the fashion magazine. She’s more interested to read articles about marriage, and looking for the wedding fashion photos nowadays.

 

“With that personal trainer guy?”, he asked again.

 

“His name is Kwon Yuri, oppa”, she replied as she rolled her eyes.

 

“Ah, Kwon Yuri”, he said as he nodded his head.

 

“Why are you asking anyway? Don’t tell me you still have feelings for me, oppa?”, Yoona said, raising her brows. Geun Suk gasped, and almost spilled his coffee.

 

“Mworago? Me still have feelings for you? Don’t kid with me, Yoongie”, he replied, letting out his sarcastic laugh.

 

“Then, why are you asking me just now?”, she exclaimed annoyingly.

 

“Can’t I just ask you as a friend? Anyway, congratulations!”, he said to her while sipping his coffee.

 

“Hmm.. you’re welcome”, she replied with her eyes still glued to the magazine. Geun Suk felt frustrated with they way Yoona treated him. It’s like she’s still holding her grudge against him. He took a deep breath, and slowly inhale it before he started to speak again.

 

“Look, Yoona. I think we still have a problem that has yet to be resolved here. Please, whatever feelings against me that you still keep the past, please let it go once for all, so that both of us can live in peace without any rancor. I’m sorry for whatever I have done to you. Let’s forgive and forget, okay?”, Geun Suk said sincerely. He didn’t want Yoona to see him as a guy who used to cheat on her, and will forever labeled him as the bad guy in her life. Yoona glanced at him before she let out a sigh.

 

“I’m sorry to you too, oppa. Yeah, let’s forgive and forget”, she said as she let out a small smile.

 

“Friends?”, he said as he held out his hand.

 

“Yeah, friends”, Yoona replied as she shook hands with him. Both of them smiled and laughed in unison.

 

“So, found anything interesting for your wedding concept?”, he asked. Yoona shook her head.

 

“Not yet, but, my soon-to-be mother in-law will help us with the wedding planning. She used to work as an event planner before”, Yoona replied as she put the magazine on the table. “So, how about you, oppa? I heard you’re still contacting Shin Hye unnie”, Yoona asked. Geunsuk just let out a small chuckle.

 

“She’s just a good friend, Yoona ah. We used to work together in a drama, remember?”, he replied.

 

“But, you do still have feelings for her, don’t you?”, she asked. Geun Suk was silent for a while. Yoona suddenly felt guilty as she thought that she shouldn’t asked him about the matter. She bite her lips and looked at him warily, nervously waiting for Geun Suk to give his response. He then let out a sigh, and smiled faintly. Geun Suk used to tell her that he liked Shin Hye before they become a couple.

 

“Well, I don’t really want to put any hope for that. If we are not meant to be together, then I can still treat her as my good friend, right?”, he said. Yoona couldn’t help but to feel sorry for her ex-boyfriend’s unrequited love. She determined to help Geun Suk, and she will ask a help from her fiance. Yuri used to work with Shin Hye for the project where Shinhye released her single for CF which she has become the endorser. Maybe she can ask Yuri to plan something to get them together.

 

“What if I said I can help you?”, she said. Geun Suk turned his head to look at her while furrowing his brows.

 

“Mworago?”, he replied. Yoona smiled as she pulled her chair, and sat closer to Geun Suk.

 

“I said, I want to help you and Shin Hye unnie to get together. My fiance used to work with her, so, I think he can help you to come up with something. Maybe he can propose a project which involving you and her, so that both of you can work together. A single for CF or something”, Yoona suggested. Geun Suk then laughed, causing Yoona to pout as she thought Geun Suk will make fun of her idea.

 

“Yoona ah, I didn’t know that you have become a matchmaker after you got engaged. Listen, I don’t want a help from others for my love life. If I want her, I will get her with my own way, okay? Thanks for your brilliant idea anyway”, he replied as he patted gently on Yoona’s head.

 

“It’s up to you, oppa. I just wanna help. But, remember this, live not for the past but for what lies ahead, okay?”, she replied, and slowly got up from her seat. She waved her hand at Geun Suk before she went to the restroom. Geun Suk just stared at her until she disappeared from his sight. He sighed, and sipping his coffee.

 

Although he used to cheat her before with random girls, that was because he just wanted Yoona’s attention as both of them were busy with their schedules. They rarely could spent their time together as a couple, and it causing Geun Suk to feel upset. He didn't expect that Yoona was really affected by his doings, and asking for them to breakup. The fact is that, he's still love her, but he knew, it's already too late for him to get back to her.

 

“What lies ahead is my past that was still hanging around you, Im Yoona”, he mumbled.

“I’m home!”, Yoona shouted right after she closed the door. Her eyes wandering around the living room while took off her shoes. There’s no sound of Yuri’s voice welcomes her home. She suddenly inhaling a smell, and quickly walked towards the kitchen. As expected, Yuri was in the kitchen, wearing an apron, and was busy cooking something.

 

“Annyeong!”, Yoona greets dorkily while back hugging him, causing the latter gasped.

 

“Aigoo, babe! I almost got a heart attack, you know”, Yuri said as he rubbed his chest. Yoona laughed as she pulled Yuri’s arm, and turned him around to face her. She gave a peck on his lips, and smiled dorkily.

 

“Sorry, honey!”, she apologized. Yuri squinting his eyes while looking at her suspiciously.

 

“You looked happy. Did the photoshoot goes well?”, he asked, and pulled her by waist to hug her.

 

“Yup, yup. And guess what?”, she replied.

 

“What?”, he asked.

 

“Just guess”, she insisted.

 

“You got another contract to become an endorser?”, he said. Yoona shook her head.

 

“You got an offer for drama, film?”, he tried to guess again. Again, Yoona just shook her head. Yuri curled up his forehead. He then let out a sigh, and raised up his both hands as a sign in defeat.

 

“Alright, I give up. So, tell me what is it, babe?”, he said. Yoona chuckled upon hearing his words, and she leans closer and whispered into his ear. Yuri gasped, his eyes widened in surprise.

 

“J-jeongmal?”, he asked in disbelief. Yoona just nodded her head smilingly.

 

“Wow! I-I never expect I will become a daddy soon..”, he said as his voice trailed off. He suddenly become emotional, and Yoona could see a single teardrop rolled down his cheek. She quickly hugged her beloved fiance, and rubbing on his back to comfort him.

 

“Gwenchana?”, she asked as she pulled of the hug, and cupped Yuri’s face.

 

“I’m.. I’m sorry for being such a crybaby”, he said as he felt embarrassed. Yoona just giggled and leaned closer to kiss on his nose bridge.

 

“It’s okay, honey. It’s okay to once a while letting your guard down. It doesn’t mean that you are weak. You’re going to be a daddy soon. Daddy Yul must look strong for our baby, right?”, she said soothingly, causing Yuri to smile. He pulled Yoona closer to hug her.

 

“I love you, babe”, he said. “I cried because I feel so happy and complete”, he continued before he kissed her lips.

 

“I love you too, baby. You make my life complete too”, she said after they broke the kiss. Yuri was about to lean for another kiss when he suddenly stopped because of the unexpected sound coming from Yoona’s stomach. He laughed out loud, causing his fiancee to pout.

 

“Aww.. sorry, babe. I didn’t mean to laugh at you. But I think it’s funny, though”, he said still giggling. Yoona glared at him while crossing her arms.

 

“Alright, alright. Let’s eat, okay? Mommy Yoong and the baby needs to eat dinner first”, he said as he leaned closer to kiss her forehead. Yoona couldn’t help but to smile. She sat on the stool, and watching Yuri busy preparing the table for their dinner.

 

“Don’t you want to freshen up first?”, he asked while his hands were busy arranging the plates and cutleries on the table.

 

“I will do that after dinner”, she replied lazily. She looked tired.

 

“Babe, how did you find out that you’re pregnant?”, he asked in curious as his hands were busy scooping pasta sauce from the pot, and put it into the serving bowl.

 

“Ermm.. well.. actually..”

 

:: Flashback ::

 

“Geun Suk ssi, have you seen Yoona ssi?”, Miss Han, the assistant director for the photoshoot asked. Geun Suk looked at his surroundings, but he didn’t see her anywhere.

 

“Oh, I think she went to the restroom earlier”, he said as he suddenly remembered on where Yoona was heading to last time.

 

“Okay. Gomawo, Geun Suk ssi”, Miss Han thanked him before she headed to the restroom.  Geun Suk looked at his wristwatch, and it’s already past 15 minutes since Yoona went there.

 

“Hmm.. this is weird. Why she took a long time to do her business there? I don’t think she’s taking a bath”, Geun Suk mumbled while continue reading his script. He was about to turn to the second page of the script when suddenly he heard a female voice shouted Yoona’s name from the restroom.

 

“Omo! Yoona ssi!”, the voice shouted in panic. Geun Suk’s eyes widened in surprise the moment he heard Yoona’s name. He threw his script on the table, and quickly got up from his seat, running towards the restroom. He passed through the crowd of the staffs to get inside the restroom.

 

“Miss Han, what happened?”, he asked as he saw Miss Han was trying to awaken Yoona who was lying motionless on the floor.

 

“I-I d-don’t know, Geun Suk ssi. When I entered the restroom, I already found her was lying on the floor”, she said as she was about to cry.

 

“Somebody please call the ambulance, now!”, Geun Suk yelled as he carefully lifted Yoona’s body, and carried her out of the restroom. He carefully laid Yoona’s body on the couch, and grabbed her wrist as he tried to check her pulse.

 

“Her pulse is okay, but, what’s wrong?”, he said. Ten minutes later, the ambulance came with the paramedics carrying the stretcher. The paramedic quickly checked on her pulse.

 

“She’s fainted. We need to get her to the hospital for further check up”, the paramedic said as he ordered his colleagues to transfer Yoona into the stretcher.

 

“Can I follow her, Sir?”, he asked the paramedic.

 

“Sure. We need her family member or close relatives to be there to register her admission”, the paramedic said as he ordered his colleague to lift the stretcher, and get into the ambulance. Geun Suk then went inside the ambulance after he told Miss Han and the staffs that he need to accompany Yoona to the hospital.

 

At the Seoul Hospital

 

Yoona slowly opened her eyes, and all she could see at the moment was the white ceiling and lights that blinded her sight. She blinked her eyes rapidly while slowly wandering around.

 

“W-where am I?”, she asked with her voice almost like whispering.

 

“You’re at the hospital, Yoong. Miss Han found you fainted inside the restroom earlier. We got panic, so we brought you to the hospital”, Geu Suk who was sitting beside the bed replied.

 

“J-jinja? W-what happened to me?”, she asked. Before Geun Suk could open his mouth, suddenly the doctor interjected.

 

“Ah, you’re already awake, Miss Im. Alright, let me do some check up first”, the doctor said as he gestured the nurse to help Yoona to sit on the bed. He then started to check his patient using the stethoscope while jotting something on the patient report sheet.

 

“Alright Miss Im. After doing some early check up, we found out that you’re pregnant. So, congratulations to both of you!”, the doctor said smilingly.

 

“M-mworago? I.. I’m pregnant?”, she asked in disbelief. Geun Suk eyes widened as he was in shock too.

 

“I-I’m not her boyfriend”, Geun Suk said as he shook his head.

 

“Oh, sorry. Yes, you’re pregnant. But, I need to do a further check up on you, so you need to do a urine test first. After that you can discharged”, he replied. The doctor ordered his nurse to bring Yoona for the urine test. Meanwhile, he asked Geun Suk to follow him to his office room.

 

After she had done the urine test, the nurse then brought her to the doctor's office room.

 

“Please have a seat, Miss Im”, the doctor invited her to take a seat. Yoona just complied, and sat next to Geun Suk. He then reading something on the file, and smiled.

 

“Okay. After checking on your urine test result, we found out that you’re in two weeks of pregnancy. So, maybe your body is a bit weak because of the fatigue, that is why you couldn’t cope with your surroundings, and you fainted. So, you need to take a lot of rest after this. No strenuous activities since you’re in an early stage of pregnancy. So, Mr. Jang here said that you have a fiance. Do you need us to contact him?”, the doctor asked.

 

“No. It’s okay, doctor. I will tell him myself later”, she replied.

 

“Alright, if you say so. So, as I said earlier, you need to take a lot of rest, and watch out on your food taking. You can find out more info about the pregnancy through our pamphlets that we provided here. So, congratulations once again Miss Im. You can take the prescription at the counter outside, okay?”, the doctor said.

 

“Okay. Thank you so much, doctor”, Yoona thanked him as she got up from her seat, followed by Geun Suk. Both of them bowed to the doctor before the went out of the room.

 

“Congratulations, Yoong!”, Geun Suk congratulate her. Yoona just let out a faint smile. Geun Suk frowned when he found out Yoona doesn’t seem like happy to receive such news.

 

“Wae?”, he asked in concern. He lead Yoona to sit at the waiting area while waiting for their turn to get the prescription. Yoona let out a sigh soon after she landed her on the seat.

 

“I.. I just didn’t expect that I will get pregnant too soon”, she replied. Geun Suk smiled after hearing her words.

 

“Don’t you feel excited to know that the baby inside your tummy is the fruit of love with the person you’re going to get married soon?”, he asked.

 

“I know that, oppa. It’s just that, you know, I’m still young, and my career still have a long way to go…”, she was about to continue when Geun Suk cut her off.

 

“Yoona ah, listen”, he paused before he continued. “You know what? When the doctor had mistakenly thought that I was your boyfriend, the moment he told about your pregnancy, you know how I felt?”, Geun Suk asked. Yoona just shook her head, and bite her lips, anticipating on his next words.

 

“I felt like, I’m a biggest fool for not fighting to get you back, and how I wish I was Kwon Yuri at that time. I felt like want to jump up in joy as I thought the baby was mine. But, sadly…”, his voice trailed off, causing Yoona to feel wary.

 

“Yeah, reality hits me hard. I finally back to my own stride. I realized that the past that I hold on to will not going to back into reality as for my future. I have made a lot of mistakes Yoong ah, and I admit that I felt regret to let you go. But, I guess, it’s too late, isn’t it?”, he said as he chuckled bitterly.

 

“I’m your past, Yoong. Kwon Yuri and your baby are your future, your happiness. I’m happy as long as you happy with your new life, Yoong. It’s about the right time for me to move on”, he said as he let out a faint smile.

 

“Oppa, I..”, Yoona’s voice trailed off. Geun Suk just smiled, and patted her hand that was on her lap.

 

“What I mean is, our past and future life are not the same anymore, Yoong ah. Right now, you’re Im Yoona who soon-to-be a mother of your child, and a wife for Kwon Yuri. I’m sure Yuri will feel happy to know that he will become a father soon. Don’t do something that you will regret later, just like what I did”, he said. Yoona slowly took his hand, and caressed it gently.

 

“I’m sorry, oppa”, she apologized. Geun Suk patted his hand and smiled.

 

“Don’t be sorry, Yoong ah. Just be happy with your baby and Kwon Yuri, okay?”, he said, patting her hand. “Don’t you want to call Yuri and tell him about this good news first?”, he asked.

 

“No, it’s okay, oppa. I will tell him when I get home later”, she replied.

 

“Miss Im Yoona!”, they startled when they heard Yoona’s name being called. Both of them got up from their seat, and headed towards the counter to take the prescriptions. Geun Suk then offered to send Yoona home, but she declined, instead he just sent her to the photoshoot place where she asked her manager to pick her up from there.

 

:: End of the flashback ::

 

“Why didn't you call me first?”, Yuri snapped as he crossed his arms. He felt frustrated because Yoona seems like doesn’t put himself as her first priority that she should tell him beforehand. Yoona felt guilty as she didn’t do so. She got up from her seat, and walked towards her upset fiance.

 

“Mianhae, honey ah. I didn’t want you to worry about me”, she apologized as she caressed his arm.

 

“Aishh.. come here”, Yuri said while uncrossing his arms, and pulled her into his embrace. He could feel that Yoona was sobbing on his chest.

 

“Shhh.. mianhae.. uljima (don’t cry)”, he said trying to soothe her. He then pulled her off from his embrace, and cupped her face. He wiped her tears using his thumbs. He pecked her lips and smiled.

 

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t get mad at you. But please, next time if anything happen to you please let me know, okay?”, he said.

 

“Mianhae”, she replied with a pout.

 

“It’s okay, sweetheart. Come, let’s eat first. Our baby needs to eat too”, he said as he brought his hand to her stomach, and caressed it gently. Yoona couldn’t help but to smile on his words. Yuri often be the first to concede every time they have a misunderstanding. He is also very caring and always concerned about her. In other words, he always put her on top of his priority. Yuri loves her so much. Geun Suk was right. Yuri is her happiness. Plus with their baby on the way, their fruit of love, double happiness.

 

They took their respective seat, and Yuri started to serve the pasta on her plate.

 

“Thank you, honey”, she thanked her.

 

“You are welcome, sweetie. Eat well, okay?”, he said as he patted her head.

 

“Dae. Jalmukesumneda! (I will eat well)”, she replied, and started to eat her pasta. The newly parents then continued their dinner peacefully while eating, joking to each other and chatting on random things.
