The YoonYul Wedding

 

Few weeks ago, at the restaurant in Seoul Hotel

 

After Yuri and Yoona delivered the good news about Yoona’s pregnancy to both of their families, the Kwon and the Im agreed to meet at the restaurant to have their dinner together and to discuss about their children’s wedding preparation.

 

“Thank you for coming, Im ssi”, Mr. Kwon bowed and extended his hand to shake hands with the latter.

 

“Thank you for inviting me for dinner, Kwon ssi”, Mr. Im replied. Mr. Kwon then invited Mr. Im to take a seat at the table which he had reserved earlier for their dinner.

 

“Alright, Im ssi. Let me introduce you to my family member. This is my wife, Lee Hyunmi and this is my son, Kwon Hyukjun, Yuri’s older brother. This is Hana, Hyukjun’s fiancée”, Mr. Kwon said. The Kwon family bowed to Mr. Im after being introduced by Mr. Kwon, and Mr. Im did the same before he took a seat next to his daughter.

 

“I’d like to apologize on behalf of my eldest daughter and her family, They couldn’t come for dinner tonight because my grandson is not feeling well, so, they send their regards to all of you here”, Mr. Im informed.

 

“Ah.. It’s okay, Im ssi. We understand”, Mr. Kwon replied. “Alright, shall we start our dinner first? We can discuss about our children’s wedding preparation while eating dinner”, Mr. Kwon suggested.

 

“Sure, Kwon ssi”, Mr. Im said and nodded. Mr. Kwon then immediately called the waiter and asked him to start serving the food and drinks for them.

 

“Ermm.. Im ssi, I have been told by Yuri that Yoona had told you about her pregnancy, right?”, Mr. Kwon said.

 

“Yes, Kwon ssi. It seems that we are soon will become grandparents, right?”, Mr. Im replied as he chuckled and patted on his daughter’s thigh. Yoona who was eating her food quietly since then smiled sheepishly.

 

“Yeah, right, Im ssi. He or she will become our first grandchild soon. So, do you have anything in mind about their wedding preparation?”, Mr. Kwon asked.

 

“Right now I don’t have any, Kwon ssi. But, Yoona had told me last time that your wife was the event planner, right?”, Mr. Im replied.

 

“Yes, Im ssi”, Mrs. Kwon said as she nodded with a smile.

 

“I see. Yoona had told me everything about your plan, Lee ssi. On behalf of my family, I would like to apologize for causing you trouble. We really don’t have any idea about the preparation. We will only depend on you, Lee ssi”, Mr. Im said as he bowed.

 

“Don’t mention, Im ssi. Yoona is like our daughter too. I’m more than glad to help you and your family regarding the preparation”, Mrs. Kwon replied.

 

“Thank you so much, Lee ssi. My daughter was so lucky to have you as her mother in-law”, Mr. Im said sincerely. Yoona felt her heart sank when hearing his father’s words. It reminds her about her mother who left her and her older sister with his father, the bad memory which she wanted to forget. Indeed, she was so lucky to be treated by Mrs. Kwon as her own daughter, and she also volunteered herself to help her and Yuri for their wedding preparation.

 

“Aigoo.. Im ssi. We are supposed to be the one who thanked you for letting your daughter falling in love with our pabo son. You know, if Yoona didn’t come into his life, I don’t know when are we going to have our own grandchildren. You know, we are not young anymore to wait for them to get married”, Mrs. Kwon replied.

 

“Mom, I’m not a pabo though”, Yuri said while rolled his eyes annoyingly, causing the rest laughed at him.

 

“I agree with my wife though. Yuri never had a girlfriend since he was in high school and college time. He only spent his teenager’s time involving in sports. We thought what went wrong with him, but when one day he told his mom he fell in love with someone, we celebrating the good news with the whole family”, Mr. Kwon said. Yuri facepalmed as he felt embarrassed after hearing of what his father had said just now. He then glanced at Yoona, and the latter mouthed ‘I love you’ to him, causing him to smile from ear to ear.

 

“People said, it took some time for you to find the right person to spend your life with, and I think Yuri was a careful person. Maybe he doesn’t want to be hurt in the process if he met the wrong person. Am I right, Yuri?”, Mr. Im said.

 

“Yes, uncle. You’re two hundred percent right!”, Yuri replied, earning a laughter from the whole family.

 

“Alright, as we have discussed and agreed earlier, we would like to suggest to hold the wedding ceremony earlier than we had planned before. So, we would like to seek an opinion from you, Im ssi”, Mr. Kwon said.

 

“Oh, I really don’t mind, Kwon ssi. I just follow suit, and you can proceed with the plan. I think the earlier, the better, am I right?”, Mr. Im replied.

 

“Yes, you’re right, Im ssi. Since Yoona is still an early stage of her pregnancy, that is why we suggest to hold the ceremony a bit early. We were afraid that Yoona will not feel comfortable if we follow the old plan which is four months away. According to the calculation, Yoona will be in five months of her pregnancy. So, we suggest to hold the ceremony on next month”, Mr. Kwon said.

 

“Yes, Kwon ssi. I agree with you”, Mr. Im replied while nodded in agreement.

 

“You don’t have to worry about the cost, Im ssi. It’s on us since Yoona is our daughter too”, Mrs. Kwon said.

 

“Aigoo.. Lee ssi. We should share the cost. I don’t want to burden you and your family”, Mr. Im replied.

 

“We insist, Im ssi. It’s not a burden to us at all. Like I said earlier, Yoona is our daughter too, so, let it be as gift from us to both of them”, Mrs. Kwon said.

 

“Arasso, if you said so. I guess I have nothing to complain”, Mr. Im replied.

 

“Ah, thank God!”, Mrs. Kwon exclaimed in relieved, causing the rest laughed at her. The Im and Kwon family then continued with their dinner while discussed further about the wedding preparation of their children.

Later on that night, at YoonYul’s apartment

 

Yoona was in the bathroom, washing her face and brushing her teeth as a daily routine before she went to bed. Yuri was sitting on the bed with a laptop on his lap, browsing the website of venue for their wedding ceremony which has been suggested by his mother to look at. Through the discussion they had during dinner earlier, Mrs. Kwon proposed to hold the ceremony at W Hotel where it was a famous venue for some top celebrities who used to hold their wedding ceremony there. Since her son is going to marry a famous celebrity, Mrs. Kwon wanted their wedding ceremony to be perfect, so she chose the best venue for them. Both families agreed with the proposal. After the family dinner earlier, they bid their goodbye to the Kwon family first before they sent Mr. Im home.

 

“What are you doing?”, Yoona asked as she slowly climbed on the bed, and sat next to her fiance She leaned closer to him to look at the laptop screen.

 

“Hey, babe. I just browsing the website of the wedding hall which mom had suggested earlier. It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”, Yuri replied while showing the laptop screen to his fiancee. The hotel was located by Han river.

 

“Yup. I like the location. Shall we visit the place tomorrow?”, Yoona suggested.

 

“Yeah, sure. I will call mom on tomorrow morning and we can go together with her”, Yuri replied. He’s actually wanting to ask Yoona about her mother, but he just keep it inside as he doesn’t want to ruin her good mood. He glanced at his fiancee and the latter keep on yawning while rubbing her sleepy eyes.

 

“Honey ah, are you going to stay up until late night?”, she asked.

 

“Not really, babe. I’m still browsing the hotel’s info”, he replied as his eyes still glued at the monitor screen.

 

“Arasso”, Yoona nodded. “You still don’t want to sleep?”, she asked again.

 

“Wae? Are you already sleepy?”, Yuri replied while looking at her. She nodded while rubbing her sleepy eyes. Yuri smiled and ruffled her hair.  “Arasso, let’s sleep”, he said as he turn off the laptop and put it on the side lamp table. He then fixed the pillow for Yoona and gestured her to lie down. He scooted closer and lie down next to her, back hugging her.

 

“Good night, baby. Sleep well”, he said and kissed on the back of her head.

 

“Good night, honey”, she replied and put her hand on top of his hand. Both of them then slowly drifted into their dreamland.

The next day

 

RING! RING! RING!

 

“Yoboseyo?”, Mrs. Kwon answered.

 

“Annyeong, Mrs. Kwon. Are you by a chance free on today?”, Yuri asked.

 

“Now what’s with this formal greetings, huh?”, she replied, causing Yuri chuckled.

 

“I’m just being polite with our wedding planner, is it wrong?”, he playfully said, teasing his mother.

 

“Oh, yes. For once I forgot that I’m your wedding planner”, Mrs. Kwon couldn’t help but laughing.  “Yes, I am free the whole day today, and why are you asking?”, she asked.

 

“We want to visit the wedding venue at W Hotel, and we want to bring you along”, Yuri said.

 

“I thought you don’t want to tag along when I suggested to visit the venue in the next few days.  Why do you want to do it early?”, Mrs. Kwon replied.

 

“Well, actually Yoona had suggested to visit the venue on today. She was afraid she couldn’t make it later. She will be busy with her schedules on next week, mom”, Yuri said.

 

“Ah, I see. If it’s my daughter who suggested, then I got no problem at all”, Mrs. Kwon replied, causing Yuri furrowed his brows.

 

“Why is that? I’m your son too though. Your biological son!”, Yuri dramatically exclaimed while rolling his eyes annoyingly, causing his mother chuckled. It’s Yuri’s turn being teased by his mother.

 

“Don’t complain like a small kid, and pick me up by 11:00. We can have our lunch together there”, Mrs. Kwon said.

 

“I was about to suggest that. Okay, I’ll see you soon. Bye, mom!”, Yuri said as he ended the conversation.

 

“Okay, see you later, bye!”, Mrs. Kwon replied as the call ended.

“Annyeong, mom”, Yuri greeted his mother and hugged her. The YoonYul couple just arrived at the Kwon’s residence to pick up Mrs. Kwon for lunch and visiting the venue of their wedding ceremony.  

 

“Annyeong, my son”, Mrs. Kwon return the hug and patted on his back. She pulled off the hug and walked towards Yoona and hugged her.

 

“Annyeong, mom”, Yoona greeted her soon to be mother-in-law and returned the hug.

 

“Annyeong, Yoona. How are you? How’s your sleep last night?”, Mrs. Kwon asked in concern. Yoona once told her she couldn’t sleep well for the past few days because of her stomach ache. They secretly went to the hospital to see the doctor when Yuri was at work. Mrs. Kwon suggested Yuri to let Yoona stayed with her because at least there’s someone who could take care of her if anything happened. She didn’t want to make Yuri feel worried about her condition, that’s why she asked Mrs. Kwon to help her. Both of them relieved as Yoona has been diagnosed having diarrhea only.

 

“It’s good, mom. I’m fine”, Yoona replied. Yuri furrowed his brows as he felt curious with these two women’s ‘overly caring’ act. He then suddenly planned to tease them.

 

“Mom, I’m your son too. You don’t want to ask me on how am I doing?”, he said. Yoona and his mother then chuckled.

 

“Aigoo.. You are a grown up man now and you can take care of yourself though. Your fiancee here needs to have an extra attention since she’s pregnant”, Mrs. Kwon replied.

 

“If I am pregnant, then will you give an extra attention for me?”, Yuri sillily asked while pouting, causing the two beloved women of his life bursting out laughing.

 

“Yah! Are you out of your mind? Don’t talk silly things, Kwon Yuri. Bring the car now!”, Mrs. Kwon exclaimed while smacking on his arm.

 

“Geez! I’m just kidding though! Ara, ara! I’m going to take the car now ma’am!”, Yuri said annoyingly while rubbing his arm, and walked towards the car’s garage.

 

“This kid could be so childish sometimes. I don’t know how you can handle him, and fall in love with him”, Mrs. Kwon complained.

 

“Yuri is such a wonderful and caring person, mom. Ever since we were living together, he’s the one who took care for me, and cooked for me. I have learned a lot from him”, Yoona smilingly said, feeling proud of her fiance. Mrs. Kwon couldn’t help but to smile on her words about her son.

 

“I know he’s someone you could rely on. He’s a good kid, I tell you. He never gave us problem since he was small, except when he had an argument with his brother. I was afraid after he said he wanted to live on his own, afraid he would do silly things like wasting his life partying all the night, or got drunk. Thank God, he had great friends like Sooyoung and Taeyeon. I felt relieved when he told me he stayed with them. And, I feel so grateful that he’s already in a good term with his brother. I’m glad he met you, Yoona. You changed him to be a better person. Thank you”, Mrs. Kwon replied. Yoona smiled and hugged the middle-aged woman from the side.

 

“Don’t mention, mom. He will be a great daddy to our child”, Yoona said and patted on her arm.

 

“Alright, ladies. Let’s get in the car now”, Yuri said as he opened the car’s door for them.

 

“Kaja!”, Mrs. Kwon said as they started to walk towards the car. After they all got into the car, Yuri started to drive to their next destination.

At The Wedding Boutique

 

After visiting the hotel for their wedding ceremony venue and followed by having their lunch there, Mrs. Kwon suggested them to go to the wedding boutique which belongs to a good friend of hers. Since YoonYul’s wedding will be in a month away, Mrs. Kwon wanted to make an early reservation for their wedding dress and suit.

 

“Are you two okay with the white color theme?”, Mrs. Kwon asked. They were just arrived in front of the building where the wedding boutique was located.

 

“We trust you, Mrs. Kwon. Anything you suggested will be fine with us. Besides, you’re our wedding planner, right?”, Yuri said teasingly, earning a smack from the back of his head. He pouted and Yoona chuckled on his silly act. She then rubbed on the back of Yuri’s head.

 

“Can’t you be serious this time, Kwon Yuri? I want to make sure you two won’t feel regret in choosing the right color for your wedding dress and suit”, she said sternly.

 

“Arasso, arasso. Like I said earlier, white color is fine with us, right baby?”, Yuri replied, earning a nod from Yoona.

 

“Yuri is right, mom. We really don’t mind about it. Any colors you choose is fine for us”, Yoona said.

 

“Alright, if you two said so. Let’s get inside”, Mrs. Kwon said and lead them to the wedding boutique.

 

They then met with the owner of the boutique, who is also a good friend to Mrs. Kwon. They began discussing the concept and design for their wedding dress and suit. Once both parties were satisfied with the design and concept, the boutique owner promised to prepare their wedding dress and suit as soon as possible.

The Day

 

“I can’t believe you two are ahead of us”, Taeyeon said while fixing his white tuxedo which paired with a black pants and black bow tie.

 

“Yeah, it supposed to be Taeng and Fany who will get married first, and me and Sica next . What was really made you changed your mind, huh?”, Sooyoung said, still struggling to put his bow tie. “Aishh.. I hate to wear this stupid tie!”, he groaned in frustration, causing his two best friends laughed at him. They were inside the preparation room for the groom which have been provided by the hotel.

 

“I don’t want to wait for too long, though. Besides, Yoong is pregnant, and my mother wanted to take care of her until she will give a birth to our baby. My parents wanted me to stay with them since our baby will be their first grandchild. They didn’t want me to leave Yoong alone while I’m working”, Yuri explains.

 

“Ah, same goes with my parents, though. They knew Tiffany was staying alone before. After they found out she’s pregnant, they immediately asked me to move on to my parent’s house”, Taeyeon replied while helping Sooyoung to put his bow tie. “There you go, giant!”, Taeyeon said as he finished fixing Sooyoung’s bow tie.

 

“Thanks, midget!”, Sooyoung thanked him with a grin. Taeyeon glared at him and playfully showed his fist to his tall friend. Sooyoung chuckled and stuck his tongue out at him. Yuri who noticed on his two best friends silly act just shook his head. The stylist then instructed him to sit still as he wanted to put some makeup on him.

 

KNOCK! KNOCK!

 

“Come in!”, the stylist shouted. The room’s door slowly cracked open, and Hyukjun entered the room.

 

“Hyukjun hyung!”, Sooyoung and Taeyeon exclaimed excitedly the moment they saw he entered the room.

 

“Hey, guys! Long time no see, eh?”, he said while walking towards them, saying hello to each other and exchanged their brief hug. He then walked towards Yuri who was still sitting in front of the dressing table.

 

“Hey, lil’ bro! How’s everything?”, he asked and patted on Yuri’s shoulder. The stylist just finished putting makeup on him.

 

“Everything is okay, hyung. Except me”, Yuri replied while looking at his brother through the dressing table mirror. Hyukjun raised his brows, looking at his brother in confused. He then slowly smiled and patted his shoulder again.

 

“I know you’re having a cold feet right now. Don’t worry, okay?. Once after you exchange your vows and rings, she will be your Mrs. Kwon forever, I know you can do it”, Hyukjun said, encouraging him.

 

“Thanks, hyung”, Yuri thanked him with a smile. At least he gained some confidence after his brother gave him some encourage words.

 

“Don’t mention it, lil’ bro. Alright, are you ready now? It is about the time you need to be in the altar. The pastor has already arrived”, Hyukjun said. Yuri took a deep breath, and breathing out loud before he got up from his seat.

 

“I’m ready. Guys, kaja!”, Yuri exclaimed enthusiastically. Taeyeon and Sooyoung walked towards him.

 

“Good luck, bro!”, both of them said while patted on their friend’s back encouragingly. Hyukjun then bowed to the stylist before he walked towards the door.

 

“Let’s go, guys”, he said while holding the doorknob. The trio then bowed and thanked the stylist before they left the room.

“Nervous?”, Mr. Im asked his daughter. They were already standing in front of the main door, getting ready to begin the wedding ceremony. He could feel Yoona tighten her hold around his arm. The rest of the Im family were already inside the hall, joining the Kwon family, together with their relatives, friends and some mainstream media reporters whom have been invited by both families to attend the wedding ceremony.

 

“A bit, appa”, Yoona replied while smiling faintly. Part of her felt nervous, but excited at the same time. Nervous to think of the guests whom their eyes will be on her the moment she enter the hall, and walking to the aisle later. Although she is the well-known actress and model, and have won several awards along her career path, she never felt so nervous in her life like today.

 

“Don’t be, okay? Appa will be walking next to you until we reach the altar. Yuri will be standing next to you after that. You’re not alone”, Mr. Im said smilingly. Yoona felt touched with his father’s words. She had mixed feelings, thinking that she will no longer be her daddy’s girl, and will start a new life as a wife and mother of a child to the one and only her beloved Kwon Yuri. She wanted to cry, but she tried to hold it the best she can as she doesn’t want to ruin her important day today.

 

“Thank you, appa. I love you”, Yoona said as she bites her lips, trying to hold herself from burst into crying. Mr. Im smiled and patted gently on her hand.

 

“I love you too, sweetheart. Be a good wife to your husband, and a good mother to your child, arasso?”, Mr. Im replied.

 

“Appaaaa.. Please don’t say like that. I’m going to cry later”, Yoona whined. Mr. Im chuckled and patted on her hand again.

 

“Arasso, arasso. Mian, okay?”, he said as he tried to comfort her.

 

“Alright, Ms. Im, Mr. Im, are you two ready?”, the wedding officiant asked as he was holding the hall’s door handle, ready to open the door. Mr. Im then turned to look at his daughter. Yoona nodded, signaling that she was ready.

 

“We are ready”, Mr. Im said to the staff. The wedding officiant then talked to the walkie-talkie, informing his colleague inside the hall to get ready.

 

“Alright, please get into the hall”, he said while pulling the door handle, letting the father and the bride to enter the hall.

 

The moment the two Ims entered, the MC announced on the bride’s arrival, and the pianist then started to play the “Wedding March” song. All guests immediately stood up and applauded while watching in awe the beautiful bride and his father slowly walking down the aisle. The media photographers quickly capturing the moment of the bride and her father walking down the aisle. The bridesmaid, Jessica, Krystal, Tiffany and Hana (Hyukjun’s fiancee) who were already waiting inside the hall then following the Ims walking behind them, while each and everyone of them holding a small bouquet of white roses.

 

When both of them reached the altar, Yuri who was standing there since then looked rather nervous, and immediately bowed to Mr. Im. Mr. Im smiled and gently pulled off his daughter’s hand from his arm. He then took Yuri’s hand and entwined it together with his daughter’s hand. He patted gently on Yuri’s back before he bowed to the pastor and leaving the altar to take his seat. The MC then invited the pastor to begin his wedding sermon.

 

“Kwon Yuri, as you look into bride’s eyes, please say your vows”, the pastor said to Yuri after he finished giving the wedding sermon. He did as told, and he took Yoona’s other hand and hold it, while staring lovingly into Yoona’s eyes.

 

“Im Yoona, you are the most amazing woman I’ve ever met. You are dependable, yet full of surprises, and you are beautiful inside and out. I love you so much, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to be standing here with you today. In front of God and our friends and family, I promise to stand by you and to stand up for you, to laugh with you and never laugh at you, and to do everything I can to make you happy”, he paused as his voice started to crack. Yoona couldn’t help herself as her tears began to roll down her cheeks. Yuri took a deep breath and cleared his throat before he continued.

 

“I promise to be loving, patient and faithful. I will be the very best husband I can be to you and the very best father I can be to our children. I’ll be your partner on all of life’s adventures. Through hard times and good times, through sickness and health, I’ll always be at your side, for all the days of my life, for all eternity”, he finally said.

 

“Alright. Im Yoona, as you look into groom’s eyes, please say your vows”, the pastor said to Yoona.

 

“Kwon Yuri, you are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. You are kind and caring, and one smile from you brightens my whole day. I am completely and totally in love with you. You stole my heart, and I want you to keep it forever. In front of God and our friends and family, I promise to stand by you and to stand up for you, to laugh with you and never laugh at you, and to do everything I can to make you happy. I pledge to accept you as you are, to respect you as an equal and to encourage your dreams and passions. With you, I’ll create a peaceful, happy home and a loving family. I will grow old with you, and never stop growing with you. When you’re sad, I’ll comfort you, and when you’re happy, I’ll share your joy. I will love you through sunshine and storms, as long as we both shall live”, she said between the soft sobbing. Yuri smiled and dug his pants pocket to take a handkerchief. He helped her lover to wipe the tears on her cheeks.

 

“I love you too”, he mouthed, causing Yoona to smile faintly.

 

“Miss Im, have you calm down yourself?”, the pastor asked, causing the guests burst into laughing.

 

“D-dae”, Yoona replied as she smiled sheepishly. Yuri giggled on her cute act. He then took her hand and caressed it gently, ensuring her that everything will be okay.

 

“Alright, let’s proceed with the ring exchange, okay?”, the pastor said. The wedding officiant gestured the ring bearer, Sooyoung and Jessica to bring the ring box and present it to the bride and groom.

 

“Groom and bride, please take the ring, and hold your partner’s hand”, he instructed. Yuri and Yoona simultaneously took the ring from the box, and hold each other’s hand as told. Sooyoung and Jessica then walking back to their respective standing spot.

 

“Alright, groom. Please repeat after me, and then place the ring to your bride’s ring finger, arasso?”, the pastor said. Yuri nodded understandingly. “ I, Kwon Yuri, give you, Im Yoona, this ring, as a symbol of my commitment, to love, honor and cherish you as my wife, companion, and partner. I place this ring upon your hand as a sign of my love and fidelity”, Yuri said after the pastor, and place the ring on Yoona’s finger.

 

“Bride, please repeat after me, and then place the ring to your groom’s ring finger, arasso?”, the pastor said. Yoona then nodded. “I, Im Yoona, give you, Kwon Yuri, this ring, as a symbol of my commitment, to love, honor and cherish you as my husband, companion, and partner. I place this ring upon your hand as a sign of my love and fidelity”, Yoona said after the pastor, and place the ring on Yuri’s finger.

 

“By the power vested in me by God and man, I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Kwon. You may kiss the bride”, the pastor announced. Yuri leaned closer gently pulled Yoona by the waist and kissed her. Both YoonYul smiled between the kisses as they felt relief and happy at the same time as they are now a married couple. The guests happily applauded, and the camera flashlights started bombarding the newly-wed couple as the media photographers took their photo. The YoonYul couple then pulled off the kiss and they immediately bowed to the pastor.

 

“Mr. and Mrs. Kwon, can we take your photo now?”, one of the photographer asked. Yuri glanced at the wedding officiant, and the latter nodded, indicating that he granted the permission. Yuri gave a thumb up, and the newly-wed couple happily giving their pose for the photographers. The MC then made another announcement about the photo session time for both families and friends, and then followed by the media press release session about the wedding.

At the hotel’s ballroom, wedding reception

 

After the wedding ceremony, all guests were invited to attend the wedding reception. While waiting for the newly-wed couple to change their outfit, the guest were busy helping themselves with the food and drinks served by the hotel staffs.

 

“I hope Yoong will not get mad at me with my surprise”, Yuri mumbled to himself while leaning his back on the wall, crossing his arms. He was watching his wife getting her makeup touched-up by the makeup artist. Her dress had been changed to a simple white dress which designed by her mother-in-law’s friend. He suddenly remembered on what his father-in-law had told him two weeks ago after he met him at his restaurant.

 

Flashback

 

“Yul ah. It’s not that I against your good intention to invite Yoong’s mother to your wedding ceremony. I just don’t want her to get hurt. You know how she hates her mother for leaving her when she was small”, Mr. Im said.

 

“I understand, aboji. I just want Yoong to forget about the past, and forgive her mother, like what she did to me when I had a misunderstanding with my brother”, he replied. Mr. Im let out a sigh, and got up from his seat to walk towards the cashier counter to take the name card from the drawer. He went back to the table where Yuri was sitting and he sat back on his seat.

 

“Here, Yul. Her mother’s name card. She opened a flower shop in Busan, her hometown. I met her once when I attending a food seminar there few years ago. She coincidentally got the project to supply the fresh flowers for the hotel where the seminar has been held”, Mr. Im said.

 

“I’m sorry to ask you this, aboji. Did she.. remarried?”, Yuri carefully asked. Mr. Im just shook his head and smiled.

 

“It’s okay, Yul ah. You’re going to be a part of our family soon, and you have a right to know about my ex-wife too. We were married because of her father’s will. Her father and my father were good friends. Before we got married, I never asked her about whether she had a boyfriend before or not. I brought her to Seoul after we got married because of my work. I worked as a junior chef in one of the hotels in Seoul. Besides, I’m a Seoulist, I was born here, and I never thought I will move from Seoul and leaving my life here”, he paused to drink some water.

 

“We lived our life like ordinary married couples do. I think without love, we were able to continue our life as usual until she got pregnant and Yoong’s elder sister was born”, he continued. “On the third year of our marriage, she was once again pregnant and Yoong was born, she began to change. She kept on telling me that she wanted to move back to Busan, and coincidentally her mother fell sick at that time, causing her desire to come back there ever increasing. We fought everyday, and after she had done with her confinement, she left us and going back to Busan without me knowing it”, Mr. Im said as he smiled sadly. Yuri was speechless for a moment. Now he understand why Yoona hated her mother so much. She barely could feel her mother’s care and love since she was born.  He felt sorry for Mr. Im and his fiancee.

 

“I.. I don’t know what to say, aboji. I feel sorry for you, and for Yoong especially”, Yuri said.

 

“Don’t be, Yul ah. It’s our family’s fate. We never asked this to happen, but what else could we do? We just continued to carry on our life as usual. I’m glad at that time, my sisters helped me to take care of Yoong and her unnie while I went to work. Yoong and her unnie have grown up with their aunties love and care. I was glad that my daughters never rebelled when they saw their friends have mother, because her aunties loved them so much until they didn’t feel lacking on their own mother’s love”, Mr. Im replied. Yuri then took Mr. Im’s hand and patted it gently.

 

“I promise, aboji. I will make sure Yoong will never feel lacking of love because I love her so much. I couldn’t live without her, aboji. My mother doted her so much like her own daughter until she forgot her own son”, Yuri said, causing his father-in-law burst out laughing with his last words.

 

“Aigoo.. Now I know why she fall in love with you, Yul ah. You’re so sweet and caring to her”, Mr. Im said. Yuri quickly got up from his seat, and bowed to his father-in-law.

 

“Gomawo, aboji”, he thanked him.

 

So, few days after the meeting, he went to Busan to meet Yoona’s mother. He lied to Yoona, telling her that he had to attend a meeting with the supplier there, and she’s buying it. Her mother was hesitant at first, but after Yuri persuaded her earnestly, she finally relented, and she promised to come to their wedding ceremony.

 

End of the flashback

 

“Honey ah! Are you okay?”, Yoona asked as she patted on Yuri’s arm, causing him startled.

 

“Huh? Y-yeah, I’m okay, baby. I’m okay”, Yuri replied as he smiled reassuringly.

 

“I’ve called you many times, but you didn’t answer me. You just stand there like a statue, like you’re in another dimension. It worry me, you know”, Yoona said. Yuri smiled and leaned closer to hug her.

 

“I’m sorry, baby. I’m sorry for making you feel worry. There’s nothing wrong, I just thought of something. Don’t worry”, he replied. He then pulled off the hug and kissed on her lips. “You look so gorgeous, Mrs. Kwon”, he said. Her face reddened as she shyly smiled.

 

“Aishh.. Stop it! Let’s go now. They are waiting for us. Kaja!”, Yoona replied while grabbed her husband’s hand and pulled him out of the waiting room. Yuri chuckled and entwined their hands together, heading to the ballroom.

“Yoong ah, congratulations!”, Geunsuk said as he gave her a brief hug.

 

“Thank you, oppa”, Yoona thanked him.

 

“Congrats, Yoona”, Shinhye took turn to congratulate her.

 

“Thank you, unnie. I hope to hear a good news from you two soon”, she said as she smiled teasingly.

 

“Aigoo.. We just know each other though. Still a long way to go”, Geunsuk replied. Shinhye just smiled sheepishly.

 

“Yuri and me met each other less than a year though”, Yoona said.

 

“This is what we called fate, Yoong. You and Yuri have been fated to meet each other and you two are now a married couple now”, Geunsuk replied.

 

“Arasso, arasso. Just don’t wait too long, oppa, unnie. You two are not young anymore”, Yoona teasingly said.

 

“Yah! Aishh.. This kid. Going to be a mother soon but still acting like a choding”, Geunsuk replied with an annoyed tone. Shinhye just chuckled. “Anyway, where’s Yuri?”, he asked while his eyes wandering around the hall. The guest were gradually leaving the hall as it’s already in late afternoon.

 

“Oh, he said he’s going to meet a guest who came from Busan”, Yoona said while looking around the hall. She then spotted her husband was jogging towards her.

 

“Sorry, guys”, he said breathlessly. Yoona patted on his back as to helping him to calm down.

 

“Have you met your guest?”, Yoona asked him.

 

“Yes, and she’s waiting outside with my mom. I want to bring you to meet her too”, Yuri replied.

 

“I think we should go now. Congrats once again, Yuri, Yoong”, Geunsuk said and extended his hand to shake hands with Yuri.

 

“Thank you for coming, Geunsuk ssi, Shinhye ssi”, Yuri said and shook his hand.

 

“Alright. See you guys later”, Gleunsuk replied and waved his hand at the newly-wed couple before they left.

 

“Can we go and meet the guest now?”, Yuri asked.

 

“Okay. Kaja!”, Yoona replied excitedly while hooked her arm through his and began to walk together towards the door.

 

“Mom!”, Yuri called her mother who was busy talking to the special guest. She turned to look at Yuri, and the guest did the same. Yoona was surprised as her eyes becomes widened the moment she saw the guest’s face.

 

“Eom.. eomma?”
