LA, Here We Come! - Part 1

 

“Passport, check!”

 

“Jelly worms, check!”

 

“Candies, check!”

 

“Chocolate, check!”

 

“Totoro plushie, check!”

 

“You bring Totoro too? I thought you want to cuddle with me?”, Taeyeon asked his fiancee while pointing at the medium-sized pink Totoro plushie. Tiffany was busy checking the stuffs she brought along inside her bag. They were sitting at the waiting area at the boarding hall, waiting for departure to LA in about one hour time.

 

“This is for Kim-Hwang Junior. He wants to cuddle too”, Tiffany replied, giving him her famous eye smile. Taeyeon chuckled on her words. Tiffany’s pregnancy has already reached five months.

 

“Junior can cuddle with both of us, sweetie”, Taeyeon said smilingly while wrapping his arm around Tiffany’s shoulder. Tiffany leaned her head on Taeyeon’s shoulder, and took one of the jelly worms for her to eat. She took another one, and slightly nudged Taeyeon’s tummy, gesturing him to open his mouth. He gladly opened his mouth, and eating his favorite jelly worms.

 

“Babe, who is going to pick us up when we arrived in LAX later?”, Taeyeon asked.

 

“My sister, Michelle and her husband I guess. I have already told unnie about our arrival time. Gosh, I’m so excited to see my family again. It’s been a while”, she replied excitedly.

 

“I know. I’m sorry for making it delay. I was worried that you couldn’t take the flight because you’re carrying Junior right now. Glad the doctor said you can”, he said while caressing Tiffany’s tummy. Suddenly she gasped.

 

“Omo.. Junior is moving!”, she exclaimed. Taeyeon was stunned as he could feel the baby’s movement too. He grinned on his fiance’s excitement. This is the first time the baby started his movement, causing the young parents felt so moved and excited at the same time.

 

“Aigoo.. I think he’s excited to meet his granddaddy Hwang and his aunt and uncle too”, Taeyeon said smilingly. Tiffany couldn’t help but to grin widely.

 

“Hang in there okay, baby. We’re going to meet them in 13 hours time”, she said while caressing her tummy. “LA, here we come!”, she said excitedly, causing Taeyeon to giggle on her excitement. The TaeNy couple continue their chatting until it’s about their time to depart from Incheon to LA.

13 hours later, at LAX

 

The flight safely landed in LAX. The pink princess could not stop smiling ever since she got out of the plane.

 

“Ahh.. it’s good to feel the LA breeze again..”, she said while deeply inhale the air, and exhale it slowly. Taeyeon just smiled, looking at her excited pink princess at his side while his hands were busy pushing the cart which contains both of their luggages.

 

“Babe, have you called your sister, informing her of our arrival?”, Taeyeon asked.

 

“Yeah, and she said they are waiting for us at Starbucks cafe. They suggests we could have our breakfast together since it’s still early in the morning”, Tiffany replied. They took a 2:50 p.m. flight from Seoul, and arrived in LA around 8:30 in the morning. Taeyeon suddenly felt nervous as he was about going to meet his soon-to-be in-law family members. Tiffany could feel his body tensed when she put her hand at his back.

 

“Don’t worry, okay? My siblings and their spouses are so friendly. They already welcomed you the moment they knew about our engagement and my pregnancy”, Tiffany said, trying to calm down her nervous fiance.

 

“It’s just that, you know, I’m not really good when having conversation in English”, he muttered. Tiffany just smiled upon hearing his concern.

 

“It’s not a big deal, baby. You have met my dad last time, right? He can speak Korean just like you. So do with my unnie and oppa. It’s just that their spouses couldn’t speak Korean, but they understand a bit, though”, she replied. Tiffany’s sister, Michelle married to an American Caucasian guy, while his brother married to American born Philippines girl.

 

“I see..”, Taeyeon nodded his head. They finally arrived in front of Starbucks cafe where Michelle and her husband were sitting at the table near the glass wall, waiting for them. Michelle quickly got up from her seat, and ran towards her little sister.

 

“Oh my gosh! Look at you! You looked radiant and beautiful when you’re pregnant. Welcome home, baby!”, Michelle said in English excitedly while carefully embraced her little sister. Taeyeon just smiled while looking at them. Now he understand, the Hwangs really inherited the loudness of their voice. He just giggled silently.

 

“This must be Taeyeon, right?”, Michelle speaks in Korean to Taeyeon.

 

“A-annyeong, noona”, Taeyeon nervously greeted her, and bowed.

 

“Annyeong, Taeyeon. Aigoo, he’s so cute, baby. No wonder you fall in love with him, huh?”, Michelle said teasingly.

 

“Aishh.. unnieee..”, Tiffany whined. Taeyeon smiled sheepishly, causing both Hwangs chuckled on his cuteness.

 

“Honey, come here!”, Michelle gestured her husband to come near her. “Taeyeon, this is my husband, Mark. Mark, this is Kim Taeyeon, Stephanie’s fiance”, she introduced her husband to Taeyeon.

 

“Hello, Taeyeon! It’s nice to finally meeting you”, he said in English while holding out his hand to shake hands with him.

 

“N-nice to meet you too, Mark”, he replied in English with Korean accent, and shake hands with him. Taeyeon could understand and converse some basics in English since Tiffany often taught him in English from time to time.

 

“Alright, guys! Let’s get inside, and we can have our breakfast together. Taeyeon, just leave the cart at outside, okay? Don’t worry, it’s safe here”, Michelle said as she wrapped her arm around her baby sister’s shoulder, and led her inside the cafe, followed by the men at the back.

“Welcome to the Hwang’s compound!”, Michelle announced right after the car stopped in front of the house.

 

“It’s good to be back here!”, Tiffany said smilingly as she slowly opened the door. Taeyeon who sat at the front quickly opened the car’s door, and rushed towards the back seat door to open it for Tiffany.

 

“Such a gentleman, eh!”, Michelle whispered into her baby sister’s ear, causing the younger Hwang blushing.

 

“Be careful”, he said, and helped his fiance to get off the car. Mark then helped the TaeNy couple to remove their luggage from the trunk. Michelle then walked towards the door, and pressed the doorbell. A few seconds later, the door slowly opened, revealing a tall guy who looked exactly like Tiffany, in male version.

 

“Hey, Lil’ Steph! Welcome home!”, he greeted Tiffany, and engulfed her in a hug.

 

“Hey, big bro! I missed you!”, she said as she gave a peck on the tall guy’s cheek. Oh, so this tall guy is her brother, Leo. Tiffany used to tell him about his family members back then in Korea.

 

“Miss you too, little one”, he said as he returned the peck on her cheek. Both of them broke the hug, and Leo shifted his gaze towards Taeyeon, who was standing not far from Tiffany.

 

“This must be Taeyeon, right?”, he said in Korean as he slowly approached Taeyeon.

 

“D-dae!”, Taeyeon replied nervously. “A-annyeong haseyo!”, he immediately bowed. Leo smiled, and pulled Taeyeon by his shoulder to give him a hug.

 

“Welcome to the family, bro!”, Leo greeted him in English while patting on his back.

 

“T-thank you..”, Taeyeon replied with a faint smile as he still felt nervous.

 

“Wow, Tiffany was right. The Hwangs are so friendly!”, he thought.

“Hey, big sis! Hey Mark! Come on in, guys!”, Leo ushered them to get inside the house.

 

“Please make yourself comfortable, guys. Daddy still not coming home yet. He went to Uncle Tim’s house early this morning to discuss something. I guess he will be back in a few minutes”, Leo said. “Lil’ Steph, I will leave your luggage inside your room, okay?”, Leo said as he took one of the luggage, and gestured Taeyeon to follow him.

 

“Where’s Alice?”, Michelle asked before Leo walked toward upstairs. Alice is Leo’s wife.

 

“Oh, she’s working. She will come by later to join the dinner”, Leo yelled as he was climbing the stairs. Leo and Michelle stayed at their respective residence after getting married. So, it’s only Mr. Hwang who left alone at the house. But, they will took their turn on alternate weeks, spending their weekend at the Hwang’s compound to accompany Mr. Hwang.

 

“Did daddy invite Uncle Tim and the family to have dinner here?”, Tiffany asked her sister.

 

“I think so. He told me through the phone few days ago. Krys keep on asking Uncle Tim about your arrival”, Michelle replied. Uncle Tim is Tiffany’s late mother’s little brother, and Kristine or Krys is Uncle Tim’s daughter, her baby cousin.

 

“Oh, that little brat. I missed her too”, Tiffany said as she chuckled.

 

“Hey, guys! Just continue catching up, okay? I’m going to the kitchen to get some drinks”, Mark said as he got up from the couch.

 

“Thanks, honey!”, Michelle thanked her husband. Mark winked at her before he walked towards the kitchen.

 

“Welcome to our pink princess room!”, Leo said as he opened the bedroom’s door. As expected, the interior design of the room, starting from the wallpaper, bed, closet, dressing table were in pink color, except for the curtains which were in white color.

 

“Oh my god!”, Taeyeon exclaimed in surprise as he playfully blocked his eyes because of the brightness of the color, causing Leo to laugh his head off.

 

“I bet she did the same to your bedroom back there, huh?”, Leo said as he giggled.

 

“You can say that”, Taeyeon replied, joined him giggling too.

 

“I still blamed Michelle for causing her to become like this. She’s the one who introduced her to pink, and bought pink presents for Steph. Starting on that day, our little Steph declared, “everything pink is mine!”, he said while laughing.

 

“If we got a baby boy, I hope she will not pinkified our son’s life”, Taeyeon replied as he chuckled. Leo couldn’t help but to laugh too as he found it funny.

 

“Yah, yah! Stop insulting my favorite color!”, suddenly the pink monster’s voice snapped, causing the two guys jumped in shock.

 

“Uh-oh!”, Taeyeon said nervously. He shifted his gaze at Leo who still got his eyes widened in shock.

 

“Ermm.. oh, I heard Michelle is calling me. I’ll see you guys later, bye!”, Leo said as he quickly put the luggage inside the room, and left the couple, and ran towards downstairs.

 

“I’ll get you later, Leo!”, Tiffany yelled. Taeyeon gulped once Tiffany shoot her with an icy glare.

 

“B-babe. It’s not what you think. We just.. we were just joking, that’s all”, he nervously explained. Tiffany crossed her arms, still glaring at her fiance. Taeyeon carefully approached the latter, and caressed her crossing arms as he tried to soothe her. Tiffany uncrossed her arms, and leaned her face closer to Taeyeon. He smiled apologetically, and the moment Tiffany’s nose tip touched on his, she put her index finger on Taeyeon’s chest.

 

“You. Kim Taeyeon. Sleep on the floor tonight”, she said as she poked his chest with her index finger.

 

“M-mwoh?”

“I’m back! Where’s my baby girl?”, a raucous voice echoed through the living room.

 

“She’s at upstairs, daddy”, Michelle yelled from the kitchen. She was busy helping her husband preparing lunch for the family. Mark is a chef who worked at the five star hotel in LA. He took a leave today just to welcome her sister in-law and her fiance back. He volunteered himself to cook for today’s lunch and dinner.

 

“Oh, what is she doing there? Is she sleeping? Where’s Taeyeon?”, Mr. Hwang asked his elder daughter soon after she entered the kitchen.

 

“I don’t know, daddy. Taeyeon is at upstairs too. Maybe both of them busy unpacking their luggage”, Michelle replied as she was busy preparing the salad.

 

“Hey, Mark! Thanks for volunteering to cook for us”, Mr. Hwang said as he patted on his son in-laws back.

 

“No problem, dad!”, Mark replied enthusiastically. He was chopping some garlic as to prepare the ingredients to cook for lunch.

 

“Alright. I’m going upstairs to check on the two of them”, Mr. Hwang said as he head out of the kitchen.

 

“Hey, dad! You’re back!”, Leo greeted his father. He was carrying a sack of charcoal that to be put at the backyard of the house. He did some early preparation for barbecue dinner tonight.

 

“Yup. Where’s Alice?”, Mr. Hwang asked.

 

“She’s working, dad. She will be joining us for dinner tonight”, Leo replied.

 

“Okay. I’m going to check your little sister and her fiance”, he said as he patted on Leo’s shoulder before he climbed the stairs.

 

“Yah! Control your hormone, Taetae!”, Tiffany said as she slapped on her chest. Taeyeon grinned while his y hands were busy groping Tiffany’s bum.They were having their passionate kiss when suddenly…

 

“Omo!”

“D-daddy..!”
