Chapter 15

A Cracked Reflection

“So… Are you sure you’re not just joking with me?” Youngjae studied Yongguk’s facial expression before he held up his hands in mock surrender, “ ‘M Sorry, hyung, it’s just… well… It sounds painful…”

“Well, it’s not so bad, I promise. If Zelo sat through getting on, so can you… And if you want, I’ll just have Channie knock you out before hand so you won’t even be awake for the process.” Yongguk’s deep laughter bounced off the walls around them as they made their way to the top deck of the large boat.

In all honesty, Youngjae’s mind was still reeling from the information overload. This whole time the police force had been searching for the mysterious leaders of B.A.P, they had been hiding in plain sight. The few members of the task force that managed to gather information and comeback alive had spent time with the leaders themselves, and were none the wiser.

Hell, Youngjae had lived with them for over two weeks and he was still having trouble that the deep voiced man with the gummy smile was the ‘cold and ruthless leader’ that the task force had made him out to be. Youngjae had a hard time believing any of what was going on, but it wasn’t his job to believe it. He had strict orders just to follow what was put in front of him and wait.

So now, he was forced with the decision of actually following orders and putting a tattoo, a permanent tattoo, onto his body. Despite how many thoughts were racing around his head, he still managed to hear Yongguk loud and clear, “What? No!! I do not want to be drugged again, thank you… Twice now, you guys have drugged me. Twice!”

Yongguk laughed lightly, patting Youngjae’s shoulder affectionately, “You’ll get over it.” He said, walking out of the dark hallway and into the bright sunlit top deck of the very expensive looking boat.

With a sigh, Youngjae slowly followed after him, surprised to find the whole top deck packed with people, namely women in scantily clad dresses, their hair blowing in the wind as they danced among the other members of B.A.P. The music was loud and the bass thumped around him, his head was practically spinning from the overload of stimulant. Youngjae took in all of the sights, from Jongup creating an empty space in the center of the deck with his wild yet sharp b-boy moves, to Zelo, who was reclined back on a leather couch eating grapes like some sort of Greek god.

Youngjae continued to let his eyes roam until he came to a stop upon a familiar brown head. He couldn’t help the small giggle that welled up in his throat as he watched the other awkwardly try to dance among the women that surrounded him. As though he could feel Youngjae’s gaze, Daehyun looked up and made eye contact with the younger, his cheeks flushing lightly as he grinned, hiding the smile behind his hand as he ducked his head back down in laughter over being caught dancing so horribly.

The flutter that occurred in Youngjae’s chest was enough to confuse the other and completely throw him off guard as Daehyun made his way over.

“Hey… I wanted to talk to you.” Daehyun said, leaning forward to speak directly into Youngjae’s ear as the music around them made it near impossible for any real conversation. Daehyun’s hand felt as though it were fire upon Youngjae’s back as the elder lead him through the crowds and to a more secluded part of the party boat.

Despite the odd, and slightly awkward, feels that were arising due to Daehyun’s placement of his hand, Youngjae found himself missing the small warmth when Daehyun removed his hand to snag two glasses and a bottle from a nearby stand before leading Youngjae into one of the empty V.I.P rooms.

Daehyun immediately flopped onto the soft, leather couch, tucking his feet beneath him as he set down the glasses and began to fight with the bottle to pop the cork. He paused for a second, staring up at Youngjae before jerking his head to the side, “Well, c’mon now, I don’t bite…” He said, grinning up at Youngjae.

With a roll of his eyes, Youngjae immediately walked over, flopping into the spot next to Daehyun as he watched the other struggle with cork. Laughing a little, he pushed himself up and held out his hand, wiggling his fingers at Daehyun, “Hand it over.” He said with a small laugh as Daehyun pouted and passed him the bottle. “Do you have a knife on you?”

“Yeah, here…” Without even a second thought, the knife was in Youngjae’s hand.

If the younger had been surprised at how fast Daehyun had produced the weapon, he didn’t show it as he flipped the switch blade open and stabbed it into the cork, twisting the handle of the knife as he pulled it up. He grinned widely as the came out with a solid ‘pop’. “There…” He said, setting down the bottle onto the table that sat in front of them as he pulled the cork off of the tip of the knife. He stared down at the nicked knife blade before slowly closing it, “Uh… should… Should I give this back to you?” he asked, holding out the closed knife.

“Nah, as part of B.A.P, you need to keep yourself armed.” Daehyun said nonchalantly as he grabbed the bottle, pouring a decent amount of the bright red wine into the two glasses.  He handed one over to Youngjae before holding his out, “To a new member of our family…” he said, grinning at Youngjae, giving the other a cheeky wink.

“Stop being so greasy, Daehyun hyung.” Youngjae gripped as he clinked his glass against Daehyun’s and took a sip of the sweet wine. He tried not to cough to hard as the alcohol burned at his throat.

“Not much of a wine drinker?”

“What… No, I mean… its good…” Youngjae spluttered, setting down the glass for a second to catch his breath, “Ah, it’s just been a while…”

Daehyun raised an eyebrow as he watched Youngjae over the rim of his glass, “Hmm, Well, Mr. Yoo Youngjae… You just turned legal to drink this year… What were you doing during your teenage years?”

With a heavy roll of his eyes, Youngjae pushed at Daehyun’s arm, “Oh, like you never drank with friends as a teenager.”

With a laugh, Daehyun shrugged, “I guess you’re right there.” He said with a small laugh as he rested the glass against his lips, taking a small sip of the sweet wine. “So, Any thoughts on your tattoo yet?”

Youngjae instantly pouted, picking up his glass and throwing back a large swallow. “No… I really don’t want to get a tattoo.”

“Oh, c’mon… we all have one… even baby Zelo… I’m not even sure how young he was when he got his…”

Youngjae looked up, “What do you mean… you joined after him?”

Daehyun nodded, finishing off his glass quickly and pouring himself some more of the red liquid. “Yeah… Zelo’s been with Yongguk hyung since the beginning… Even before Yoseob hyung and Channie hyung.” Daehyun said with a shrug.

“How did such a young kid get into the gang life anyways?”

“I still am not sure…” Daehyun admitted, staring off at the wall as though it were a million miles away. Suddenly he shook his head and rounded back on the younger, “Yah! Don’t change the subject, Jae!”

Youngjae couldn’t help but flush the lightest of pinks at the nickname coming from Daehyun’s lips. Quickly writing off the blush as the effects of the alcohol building up in his systems, Youngjae shrugged softly, “Can’t blame a guy for trying… Why do I have to get a tattoo anyways?”

“Because!” Daehyun huffed, flailing his arms a little and sloshing the red wine within his glass around, not once spilling a drop. “It’s like… something that connects us all… Sure it’s permanent, but… You’ve seen Himchan hyungs and Jongup told me you say his… They’re like.. thiiiiis big!” Daehyun held up his hand, creating a circle with his forefinger and thumb, slowly making it smaller as he drug out the syllable.

Youngjae reached over, shoving his hand away, “Yeah, but still… needles are scary…”

“it’s not that bad, believe me!” Daehyun said, smiling at Youngjae. “If you want, I’ll sit with you while you get it done…?” Daehyun offered.

Youngjae played with the stem of the glass between his fingers as he stared at the little drops of wine left at the bottom. With a sigh, he nodded his head, “As long as you promise not to make fun of me!”

“Now why would I do that…” Daehyun asked, nudging Youngjae lightly as he smiled at the younger.

Together they sat in half silence, occasionally breaking it to ask some random, alchol induced question or voice some opinion on a long forgotten thought that was never spoken outloud, for what felt like hours, finishing off the whole bottle of wine between just the two of them. Several times, the door was cracked open and some random girl would poke her head in, asking if they needed anything. Each time, Daehyun shot them down quickly, stating if he or Youngjae needed anything, that he’d take care of it.

“Why do you keep doing that?” Youngjae asked finally, after the fourth girl left, shutting the door softly behind her.

“Doing what, Youngjae?”

“You know what I’m talking about… you keep sending off all the girls…” Youngjae sat up, “You’re scaring them all off with your Busan weirdness…”

“You mean, I’m attracting them with all my Busan weirdness…” Daehyun said with a smirk, “Besides… you’re spending time with your hyung… You’ll have time for what ever girls Himchan promised you later…”

Youngjae couldn’t help but smile, wondering if his hazy, frankly drunk, mind led him to believe that he could hear a bit of jealousy in Daehyun’s voice. Either way, in that moment, the elder looked absolutely adorable in a way Youngjae could have never thought some ‘low life gangster’ ever could. With a bit of a drunken giggle that soon turned into a hiccup, Youngjae scooted across the couch to lean against Daehyun’s side. “Nah, I’d rather spend time with hyung…” He said, a bubble of happiness soaring within his chest as Daehyun wrapped his arm over Youngjae’s shoulder. Maybe it was wrong for Youngjae to flirt with the very wrong feelings he was harboring for the older brunette, but, Youngjae found himself not caring.

If anything, he’d just blame the wine when tomorrow rolled around.

Just when i told you guys I was getting out of the fluff... bam! more fluff.

At least it's DaeJae this time... I have to start somewhere in building up their relationship, so i figured... why not get them a little tipsy~ *seeing as in the MV, Jae WAS drinking on that wine~*

I wish I could stay up and make this longer, but, meh... I'm going to leave it there and then add more explination stuff next chapter, i guess. I'm sleepy.

Peace out!

Cuddles,

Lynn

Chapter 61: First off, I'm really glad I read this story after it was completed, or it would've messed me up and hurt me way more because I wouldn't've known if there was a happy ending. Secondly, the fact that I KNEW there was going to be a happy ending and things were okay in the end but was still affected so much by the things that happened was crazy. Like, I knew things ended up well because I skimmed chapter 60 beforehand because I didn't want to end up reading such a long story just to be wrecked at the end because there wasn't a happy ending. But this story was just so greatly written, everything made sense, and at no point did I have the thought of anything being unnecessary. I felt what the characters were feeling, and every time good things were happening, I would just say to myself, "It's gonna hurt when the betrayal comes" (given that it was based off the One Shot MV).

I also like to think that at the marriage scene, it's just this weird conglomerate of gang members (like Nu'est and Infinite) and cops from Youngjae's old job that have set aside grudges for the happy day.
