Day 89

2013, Year of Us

Saturday March 30th, 2013

After going through her acceptance letters yesterday, Yu-ki realized that she had brought back a lot of things from both Seoul and Guangzhou and she needed to finally go through everything. Having already looked through the entirety of the letters, she decided to go through her journals before tackling the box of photos from her room in Seoul. Grabbing her journals, she made to leave her room when something fell from the books to the floor. Bending to pick up the object, Yu-ki saw a piece of folded paper. Curiously, she opened it.

Miss Li,                                                                                                              August 8, 2011
May I first congratulate you on your acceptance to Seoul National University, I have heard that it is a difficult program to get into, you must be very good at what you do. I am glad to have been the inspiration behind your decision to change career paths. As you have said, a picture is worth a thousand words. So, as a gift, please accept, what I believe is some of my best work, a set of three framed prints of the Guangzhou skyline at sunset. This way, you will never forget where home is. I hope that in the future we are able to cross paths and run into each other.

Sincerely,
Lu Han, a proud photographer

Yu-ki was perplexed. Why did she have a letter from Lu Han? Flipping to the other side, she saw no distinctive markers giving her any indication as to where it came from. When she last saw him, he had mentioned that they were friends, yet when they had bumped into each other in Hong Kong, none of her friends knew who he was. Yu-ki could tell that Lu Han was never fully telling her the truth, that he was hiding something. That much was obvious, but what he was keeping from her was a mystery. Taking out her phone, she dialed a number.

“Hello, Daniel?” She spoke when the other picked up. “It’s me Katie. I’m not bothering you am I? I need you to double check something for me.”

“Sure thing, what can I help you with?”

“Does the name Lu Han come up in any of our databases?”

"That name sounds familiary, but it’s not coming up in any of our contacts.” Daniel responded after a moment of silence.

“Check our mailing contacts.”

“Ah, yes. Now I remember. That was the name of the person who sent those photos you were asking about last time.”

“I thought you said there wasn’t a name attached.”

"There wasn’t. We had to look into it. Lu Photography was owned and operated by a Lu Han.”

“Right. Thanks Daniel. Have a good night.” Yu-ki whispered into the phone her mind spinning. Lu Han had lied when he said that he worked for her father once. But how did he know who she was? I mean she didn’t exactly have a low profile and anyone could have mailed something to her through the company, but how did he know about her acceptance into Seoul National? He also mentioned that the two have talked before, but how, when?

Grabbing her computer, she quickly opened up a search engine and typed ‘Lu Photography’. Clicking on the first link, she found the official webpage. Locating the ‘Contact Me’ tab Yu-ki easily spotted two mailing address, one in Beijing and one in Seoul, and business email. Switching to a new tab, she opened her email. Going into her sent mail folder she did a search for his business email address and one message popped up. Scanning the contents, Yu-ki went to grab her journals and flipped to the entries she was looking for.

October 18, 2009
I can’t believe I have to sit through these dumb seminars. I purposefully chose to sit in a seminar about going to a school overseas majoring in art so I don’t have to hear the scouts up to some kids. At least the guy doing this is young and looks like he doesn’t care about our statuses….

October 22, 2010
I hope it’s the same person from last year doing this year’s seminar. The way he spoke about photography was really interesting and made me actually second think myself. I mean I keep saying that I want to get out of here and what better way than moving to a completely new country. I should ask him about life overseas if I get the chance. What was his name again? Lu Han?

Yu-ki finally knows how she knew Lu Han and what exactly their relationship was.

[A/N]: Uh oh. Yu-ki knows now...what will happen to Lu Han?

Haha and then I learn about them) until now.... hahah I'm still here anyway and will be looking forward to any updates! (i wont be waiting, because you wont set deadline, so I suppose waiting may push you; therefore I use "looking forward" for anticipating) (as if it makes any difference hahah but I hope you know what I mean) take your time! i really enjoy your writing anyway :)
