Day 16
2013, Year of UsWednesday January 16th, 2013
Right before leaving, Kris had informed Yu-ki that Jongin wouldn’t be showing up at her doorstep today. It was a pity. Yu-ki had come to anticipate and even look forward to seeing him waiting at her front door each morning. Having already gotten ready for the day, she sighed with a collapse on the couch. What was she supposed to do now? Both Minseok and Kris were at work, and everyone else she had come to know in the past two weeks were all unreachable. Had Yu-ki actually been paying attention to her surroundings, she probably could get to campus herself, but the whole time she had only been blindly following Jongin and therefore not really paying attention to where she was going. There was the option of piecing her life together but she kind of wanted to get away from that. Just for today she wanted to live free from the past and focus on the now. Looking out the window, she saw the park down the street. Yu-ki broke out in a smile and grabbed her purse.
Strolling down the path, she breathed in the fresh air. Around her young children were running around and the sunlight was warm on her skin. Turning her head, she saw the jungle gym and unconsciously smiled.
“Stop lying to yourself.”
He leaned forward closing the distance between them.
Yu-ki groaned. Images started to flash though her head. The park, a single street light, and a smile. Stumbling, she made her way to the closest bench and collapsed. She pulled her legs up and buried her face in her arms.
“You look troubled. Penny for your thoughts?” A voice called out to her. Yu-ki felt someone sit down beside her. Lifting her head slightly, she peeked out the crook of her arm. A boy had sat beside her with a small smile upon his lips. He looked no older than she was. Yu-ki groaned again. This was the last thing she needs.
“Even if I do tell you, you wouldn’t understand.” She said, her voice muffled by her sleeves. “If I told you I have amnesia of the past 7 years would you understand? That I have a completely different life from what I thought? This life isn’t even the one I wanted. I don’t even know how I got here. In a span of two weeks, I found out that my parents divorced, I moved half way across the world, and my best friend doesn’t care for me.” By then Yu-ki had tears silently falling down her face. Her headache was gone. She looked up and met eyes with the stranger. He looked confused. She scoffed. “I told you, you wouldn’t understand.” Yu-ki got up wiped her eyes with her hand. The stranger got up and reached his hand out but she had already walked away.
