Without realizing it, a week had come and passed by so fast. It was Mingyu’s last day on Earth, so he spent the entirety of his day devoted to his friends. They grabbed fresh smoothies at Juicy in the morning, then went biking riding around the Han river. When lunch came, they went to a nearby Korean bbq spot where they indulged on pork belly and bulgogi. It was his last meal here, and Mingyu went crazy on the pork belly. Lord knows, his parents weren’t going to let him eat anything fried up at Planet Diamond. Vernon and him fought over the last piece of pork belly, and with S.Coupe’s help, Mingyu won the last piece.
When the sun had began to set, they returned back to S.Coupe’s place to help Mingyu pack up. This had been one of the greatest weeks of his life, living with S.Coupe and his family was the smartest decision he had made since arriving on Earth. He always thought family meant those of the same blood, but now he knew that the word was just a term. In Vernon and S.Coupe, he saw a reflection of his own brothers. Now that he was leaving, he could feel the pieces of his heart breaking. He wasn’t ready to accept the truth that he was actually leaving. He had been living here for half a year and it felt like a home to him, and the people he had befriended had become his family. He wasn’t ready to accept that it was time to say goodbye to his friends.
Reluctantly, his friends walked him downstairs to the front door.
“Are you sure you don’t need a ride?” asked S.Coupe.
“No thanks bro, I’m good,” smiled Mingyu, trying to put on his happiest of smiles.
Vernon was the first one to break down in tears. “I can’t believe you’re leaving us man!” He threw his arm around his best friend, wishing that parting wasn’t so bittersweet.
Mingyu looked up at the ceiling, trying his damn hardest to not cry. “Stop it man, don’t you cry.”
S.Coupe joined in on the hug. The three of them clinging to each other as silent tears fell down their cheeks. “Thanks for the hospitality S.Coupe. I’ll never forget all the things you two have done for me.”
S.Coupe nodded, not saying a word. “I’m going to miss you bro. Keep in contact.”
“Skype us when you get home,” demanded Vernon as he pulled away. “Wait do you even have internet back at your place?”
“No, we don’t.” lied Mingyu. Their expressions fell right away. He hated to see them sad, so he lied once more. “I’ll be back. Don’t forget me.”
“Come back as soon as possible!” cried Vernon.
Mingyu nodded. Before he turned to leave, he held both his fists towards his friends.
S.Coupe lifted his palm out as well, saying, “This is not a goodbye… this is a see you later.”
Vernon bumped it back as well, sniffling. “See you later man.”
Mingyu struggled to smile, but forced himself anyway. He picked up his suitcase, and began making his way out the door while his two friends watched him leave.
“Bro… I can’t believe it’s just us two now,” cried Vernon, wiping the back of his palm over his eyes.
“Shut up, don’t make this anymore sad than it already is,” frowned S.Coupe. They watched Mingyu until he disappeared down the street an
