Been quite a while since I made a one shot..I am so sorry for how late I released this!

Wrong Prom Date

The moment you entered the school, a wave of squeals hit you. There was a big crowd of girls in the front foyer, all crowded around the bulletin board. You caught a small glimpse of it and saw the word, ‘prom’. Of course, the thing every girl was looking forward too; even you.

The crowd slowly broke out as you slowly approached the board. You stared it up and down, viewing all the details of it. Just as you were about to turn around, you felt someone’s hands on your shoulders. “____!” you turned around and immediately saw your best friend, Seulgi.

"Please don’t scream in my ear," you said as you moved away from the board. Seulgi simply laughed before linking arms with you. "So who are you asking to prom, hmm?” She wiggled her eyebrows in a weird way which made you scrunch up your face.

"I dunno," you replied. She automatically pouted and nudged you lightly at the side. "Oh come on! I know you have at least one person in mind!" She was indeed correct. You did have someone in mind, however, you knew it was almost impossible.

He was your close friend, but this year, you never seemed to talk much due to his busy schedule so it seemed awkward whenever you had the chance to talk to him. Wonwoo was never one to talk much but he usually would be quite talkative around you. That is, until the recent months, he’s been acting weird lately which cause you to wonder. Was he tired of me? Did he hate me?

"…___. _____!" You felt a slap on the arm and you sent a glare over at Seulgi. "S-Sorry. You were staring off into space," she said. slowly twitched into a smile. "But you were definitely thinking about this mystery prom date guy, am I right?"

You shook your head in response but your slightly heated cheeks said otherwise. “Oh don’t worry, I’ll find out soon enough,” she said. The two of you proceeded to class and the morning progressed like any other regular morning.

Lunch had finally arrived and you were currently reserving a table as Seulgi went to get the two of you lunch. Your stomach growled and you mentally cursed the long lineup. Just as you were about to call Seulgi, you heard a deep voice. “Um, is it alright if we sit here?” You glanced up to see Wonwoo and a taller boy next to him.

You tucked a loose strand of hair behind your hair and nodded your head. “Oh um, sure, feel free,” you replied as you gave a small smile. Wonwoo nodded his head in thanks as the other boy smiled and said, “Thanks there aren’t many seats around with this many people around.”

There was an awkward silence for the past few minutes until Seulgi came back with two sandwiches and a few other food items. She was panting heavily as she took a seat next to you. “Sorry, for the-” She stopped midway of her sentence as she noticed the two boys sitting across the table.

She immediately straightened up and flattened her clothes as she fixed up her hair. You tried to stifle a giggle as she cleared and smiled at them. “Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you guys,” she said.

The tall boy laughed softly as he flashed a charming smile. He stuck his hand out to Seulgi. “I’m Mingyu, a year younger than both of you,” he said. A faint blush came across Seulgi’s face as she shook his hand. You couldn’t help but think how cute they were. “I’m Seulgi, and there’s no need to be so formal,” she said.

The two went off into their own little conversation, leaving you with an awkward silence lingering in the air between you and Wonwoo. “So um, h-has practice been hard lately?” You tried starting a conversation. Wonwoo glanced up to you before finishing his soup.

Surprisingly, he smiled and nodded his head. “Yeah it has, especially with Mingyu pestering me every second,” Wonwoo said. He laughed and you joined him. “Hey! I heard that!” Mingyu said as he pretended to be mad at Wonwoo.

"Well I’ve only been pestering him because he keeps asking me advice about some gi-" By then, Wonwoo has already took his spoon and stuffed Mingyu’s mouth with rice. "Shut up," he said. You noticed a tint of pink in his cheeks and you tilted your head curiosity.

"About what?" Seulgi asked. Mingyu swallowed his rice and was about to speak once more until Wonwoo stuffed his mouth again. Mingyu shot a glare at Wonwoo’s direction as he silently laughed. It was quite amusing to watch the two.

"It’s quite funny don’t you think?" Seulgi whispered. You nodded as you tried to contain your giggles. Just as Seulgi was about to break up their little fight, you jumped a little in your seat from hearing a voice.

"Hey _____," you heard. Turning around, you saw a tall figure. You looked up and saw your classmate, Taehyun. "If you don’t mind me pulling you away, can I just talk to you for a second?" You glanced over at Seulgi who had a smirk plastered on her face. She winked at you as you nodded your head in response. "Uh sure," you said. "I’ll see you uh, guys around, I-I guess." With that, you left the cafeteria and followed Taehyun down the hall.

"Hmm, I wonder what they might be discussing," Seulgi said. "Maybe about homework, prom or a favour," Mingyu suggested. "Well the prom thing might be it," Seulgi said. She finished her drink and Wonwoo eyed her. "What makes you say that?" He asked.

"Well who wouldn’t make that assumption? Everyone is, the two are quite notable in the school council," Seulgi said. "Plus everyone says they make quite a couple. Even the teachers agree. There are also rumors going around that they’re dating in secret." Wonwoo stopped eating and placed his chopsticks down.

Seulgi stared at him in confusion as Mingyu chuckled at his actions. “I guess it’s safe to say that the girl he has a crush on might be ________,” Mingyu said. Wonwoo had pink cheeks but shook his head. “Don’t listen to this idiot,” he said.

"But hey, Wonwoo who are you going with?" Seulgi asked. "No one," he replied. At the same time, you re-entered the cafeteria and walked back to the table. You sat down next to Seulgi.

"Uh, hi," you said. Mingyu smiled in response due to his stuffed mouth as Wonwoo simply waved as he chugged the last bit of his water. "Why are you cheeks pink?" Seulgi asked. "T-They are?" you didn’t notice this but it must be due to the conversation with Taehyun. It was quite the conversation.

Seulgi smirked as she scooted closer to you. “Did something happen between you and Taehyun?” You shook your head but your cheeks continued to rise as a smile formed on your face. Seulgi’s eyes widened and she squealed. “Something did happen!” You continued to shake your head and denied as much as you could.

"It’s quite obvious," Mingyu said. He too was smirking as he stared at you. Wonwoo had a perplexed expression on his face. "So, what happened ______? Hmm?" Seulgi persisted.

You couldn’t contain your happiness but you definitely couldn’t reveal the piece of information you received from Taehyun. Though you were definitely jumping to conclusions. Taehyun had told you that Wonwoo revealed to him that he liked you. That of course, was enough to make you feel so mixed with your emotions.

Of course, you couldn’t always trust Taehyun since he loved to tease you. However, you couldn’t help but think that there was an actual chance of being a couple with Wonwoo.

”_______!” You snapped out of your thoughts from someone shouting your name. “This is definitely a sign of something, tell us!” Seulgi said. She grabbed your arm and gave it a shake as sign of pleading you to reveal what happened. You glanced over to the guys and they were both staring attentively at you.

"Wait a minute…Let me guess, did he ask you to prom?!" Seulgi said. You blinked at her and tried to protest before Wonwoo said something quite unpredictable. Something that you never really guessed he would say.

"Hey Seulgi, wanna go to prom with me?" Wonwoo abruptly asked. From that moment, Seulgi released your arm in shock as Mingyu dropped his spoon.

Flopping onto your bed, you sighed as you thought back at what had previously happened at lunch.

Flashback

”_______!” You snapped out of your thoughts from someone shouting your name. “This is definitely a sign of something, tell us!” Seulgi said. She grabbed your arm and gave it a shake as sign of pleading you to reveal what happened. You glanced over to the guys and they were both staring attentively at you.

"Wait a minute…Let me guess, did he ask you to prom?!" Seulgi said. You blinked at her and tried to protest before Wonwoo said something quite unpredictable. Something that you never really guessed he would say.

"Hey Seulgi, wanna go to prom with me?" Wonwoo abruptly asked. From that moment, Seulgi released your arm in shock as Mingyu dropped his spoon.

End of flashback

The bell had rang before Seulgi replied. Everyone scattered to their classes, except the four of you and some other students who stayed to help clean up. The news hit you quite unexpectedly, but what had shock you even more was Seulgi’s reply.

You remembered her cheeks burning up as she shyly nodded her head. “O-Okay,” she whispered. From that, the guys had left and so did you. The rest of the afternoon didn’t go so well since you were so caught up in what happened at lunch.

So the news of Wonwoo supposedly liking you was false. Though, it puzzled you. Taehyun wasn’t the type to lie despite the fact that he does tease you a lot. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t fit the pieces together. Why would Wonwoo ask Seulgi?

It just didn’t seem to click together.

A week and half later, prom was slowly approaching. As the days passed by, the more anxious you grew. You haven’t spoken to Wonwoo since that day and you barely talked to Seulgi.

In the end, you decided to go to prom with Taehyun. It was annoying to have rumors travel around the hallways of the apparent news of you and Taehyun dating. It was awkward for Taehyun too since both of you had crushes on other people.

The days passed by and prom night had finally arrived. You were all dressed up and waited for Taehyun to arrive. There was a knock on the door and you quickly said your goodbyes as you left the house with Taehyun.

"Whoa," he said. He stared at you from head to toe with a smirk on his place. "Let’s just go quickly so I can get this over with," you said. You weren’t in the mood for any teasing since the fact that Wonwoo and Seulgi were going together got you quite pissed off.

You arrived at the destination and quickly spotted Wonwoo and Seulgi as you went inside. They were off at the corner talking to each other. The more you stared at them, the more your jealousy meter rose.

As you stared at them, you didn’t notice that Wonwoo and Seulgi were occasionally staring right back at you. Taehyung nudged you at the side as he whispered, “You know they notice you staring.” You quickly broke off the stare and walked into the beautifully decorated room.

"Well they sure did make this quite special, considering it used to smell like sweaty gym socks," Taehyun said. You nodded in agreement as the two of you found an empty space.

The night went on and the music pounded through your head, giving you a headache. After finally being able to squeeze through the tight crowds, you were able to leave the gym. You made your way through the couples out in front and walked out to the front of the school.

As soon as the cool wave of air hit you, you let out a sigh of relief. It was way too humid in there with all the crowds of people dancing. Not to mention the blasting music that was about to make you go deaf. It wasn’t the supposed ‘best night of your life’ you had sought it to be.

Finding a nearby bench, you sat down and took off your heels. At this moment, you felt miserable. There wasn’t a single thing on mind that you could think of at the moment that could make it any better.

Taking a five minute break, you were about to go back until you had heard a cough behind you. Turning around, your eyes widened as you saw Wonwoo standing. You quickly turned around and put on your heels.

Just as you were about to take off and leave, he grabbed your arm. “Wait, _______, I need to talk to you,” he said. You bit your lip, unsure of what to do. Either tug away or agree.

In the end, you had slowly backed up and waited for him to speak up. There was a moment of awkward silence before you decided to break the silence. “So, what was it that you wanted to talk to me about?”

You stared in his eyes and you could see that he was debating on something. He let out a heavy sigh before saying the three words you never heard he’d say. “I like you,” Wonwoo said. You stared at him in confusion, it was quite random that he would just jump out and say this. He was never one to like or do surprises.

"I mean, I, uh, um," he stared at the ground as he scratched the back of his neck. You couldn’t help but let out a soft giggle. "It’s okay, just take your time," you said. He took a deep breath in and opened his mouth to talk but groaned in frustration.

"Look, I-I know you might not like me back but I really like you, like really, really like you," he paused for a moment and shook his head. "Not like, love! I really do love you but it’s fine if you don’t love me back-" Suddenly, you heard a familiar voice.

"Oh my god Wonwoo!" You turned to see Seulgi pop out from the bushes. She quickly walked over to the two of you and pushed you closer to him. "Let me explain since Wonwoo here suddenly can’t speak properly anymore,” she said.

You stared at her in confusion but she shushed you. “I know, I know, you’re confused but let me explain,” Seulgi said. “Okay, we know you’re pissed about him asking me out to prom but let me explain.”

"We actually somewhat planned this night out, just I was shocked from the news at lunch. So Wonwoo does not have any feelings for me, whatsoever just to get that straight," she said. "Later on the day, he explained to me about how he likes you and I agreed to his plan. What we planned was to go together to make you jealous which clearly worked."

"But-" "No interrupting me, shush," Seulgi said. "Now, basically, he was supposed to confess to you tonight but it’s not going as what he planned so I’ll just give you guys a little push."

"Wait, Seulgi wha-" She really does stay true to her word since she did actually push you. You weren’t able to continue your sentence as your lips were pressed against Wonwoo. From the corner of your eye, you saw Seulgi smirking as she walked away.

The two of you quickly pulled away and averted eyes from each other. An awkward atmosphere lingered in the air before Wonwoo gentle pulled you close to him. Your bodies were pressed against each other and you were able to feel his warm breath, hitting against your skin.

"S-Shall we redo that kiss?" He whispered. You meekly nodded your head as you slowly closed your eyes and leaned in. His lips were pressed against yours and you melted into the kiss. It was a short but passionate.

"I love you," he said with a smile on his face. "I love you too," you whispered. You enjoyed the quiet moment in the front. The two of you had a little alone time for the rest of the night.

I am finally finished! I hope the wait was worth it. I tried my best finishing it before passing out. I gotta go now but I hope you enjoyed it!
