A one shot dedicated to Soonyoung’s birthday! Even though it isn’t his birthday in Korea anymore, it still is in Canada so..happy birthday Soonyoung! <3

'Special'

It was a cool day out. The sun was shining and the cool summery breeze in the morning made it the best kind of weather to feel. It was the perfect day for Soonyoung’s surprise birthday party.

The members of Seventeen asked you to help them plan the surprise birthday party. Of course, you agreed since he was your boyfriend and what kind of girlfriend would you be if you didn’t help celebrate his 18th birthday?

You were in charge of distracting him the whole entire day as the members hurriedly rush to prepare everything at the practice room. Even though your only role was to distract him, you had mixed feelings about it.

The members told you not to mention a single thing about his birthday and pretend that you forgot about it. You couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty to act like this but hopefully, things will turn out well.

Currently, you pacing around, waiting for Soonyoung to arrive. Though you didn’t mind since the scenery around you was very pretty especially since the perfect breeze in the air made the flowers and trees to sway in a beautiful motion. It wasn’t much like the harsh winds during a storm.

Just when you were about to take a seat down on a bench, you heard someone shout your name. “…___! _______!” Turning around, you saw Soonyoung running towards you with a smile plastered on his face.

"Oppa!" You shouted as you walked towards him. He pulled you into his arms and gave you a big warm hug. He was grinning widely as he pulled away from the hug.

There was a small moment of silence until you decided to break the silence. “Where would you like to go?” He shrugged and held both your hands.

"Anywhere is fine as long as I’m with you today. Since it’s a special day," he said, smiling. You could tell he was hinting his birthday and you tried your best to withhold everything from jumping into his arms, kissing him and screaming ‘Happy Birthday’.

"Yeah, it’s rare to get such a nice weather like today," you replied. His smile slightly turned into a small frown but he hid it from you. "Let’s go get some ramen to eat then," you said.

The two of you walked around, looking for the closest ramen shop. After a while, Soonyoung was able to spot a ramen shop. “Let’s go eat there! Junghan hyung said that it’s one of the best in town,” he said.

Before you could answer, he took your hand and ran towards the shop. You quickly apologized for bumping into a few people. Soonyoung abruptly came to a stop which cause you to hit your head on his back.

"Ow!" You said as you rubbed your forehead. He spun around and quickly apologized. "Sorry I guess I was just too excited and I came to a sudden stop," he said as he took your hand off your forehead.

He kissed your forehead which caused you to blush and smile. “There is it better?” He asked and you shook your head. He rose his brow in confusion. “Where else does it hurt?” He asked.

You pointed to your lips where he chuckled. “Oh then let me make it better,” he said before leaning in for a quick peck on the lips. You pulled away and giggled before walking inside the shop with him.

"Hello! Welcome to our ramen shop! How many people is it for today?" The waiter at the entrance asked. "For two please," Soonyoung replied and the waiter led you towards your table.

"Here are your menus and I’ll be back for your orders," the waiter said and the two of you nodded. There was a nice silent moment when you were skimming through the menus.

"Which one are you going to order?" Soonyoung asked. "I’ll get the Miso Ramen," you said as you placed your menu down. "I’m getting the special for today," Soonyoung said. He made sure he emphasized the ‘special’.

You couldn’t help but smile at his subtle hints of it being his special day of turning 18. “I’ll call the waiter then,” you said. You raised your hand and called the waiter over.

Soonyoung quickly told the waiter the orders. “Great. It’ll be ready in about 20 minutes,” the waiter said as he left the table. You smiled and nodded at the waiter.

"So did you do anything special yesterday?" Soonyoung asked. You bit your lip from letting a giggle escape however you were unsuccessful and the giggle escaped from your mouth.

"No, all I did was studying. I told you," you replied. He frowned slightly before chuckling quietly. "Oh and what do you plan on doing today? Something special?" He tried to hint again.

Oh this boy is just killing me. He’s too cute. You thought to yourself. “It depends on what you want, since you claim that today is a special,” you said and paused to drink some of your tea.

His face lightened up a bit when you said ‘special’. Though you decided to and placed your cup down. “The weather is a something special. Today is a special day with this kind of weather,” you said.

His smile toned down and he sighed as he took a sip of his tea. “Yeah I guess,” he mumbled. He placed his cup down onto the table before asking, “Who’s your specialist person?”

You tapped your chin with your finger and pretended to think for a while even though the answer was obvious. “My parents, you’re close behind them though,” you said as he frowned.

"Are you sure I’m not your special person? Especially today?” Soonyoung tried again. You nodded your head, “Yeah but don’t worry. You’ll always be number one to me.”

Soonyoung smiled just for a second before sighing quietly to himself. The waiter came to your table and set down both your dishes. Soonyoung quietly thanked the waiter as he left.

The two of you ate your dishes quietly and you could tell he was slightly frustrated by not saying ‘Happy Birthday’ to him. The guilt was slowly growing bigger and bigger but you chose to fight it off.

After you finished your ramen, you placed your chopsticks on top of the bowl and took your phone out. Checking the time, you had about an hour left before taking him to the practice rooms for his surprise birthday party.

"Bill please!" You heard Soonyoung say. "That ramen was really good," you commented. He nodded in agreement. "You should’ve gotten the special," he said.

"I should’ve," you said. "Since it is such a special day with such a special weather." You decided to again. The bill came and both of you paid for your half of the meal.

"Thank you for coming to our ramen shop! Please come again!" You heard the waitress at the front say as you left the packed shop. "Well where should we go now?" You asked.

"I’m full," he paused for a second and rubbed his stomach. "Let’s go walk it off. That special meal was really something." You giggled and nodded. You linked arms with him as the two of you just walked around the city.

"The scenery today really is beautiful," you said as you stopped and stood by the edge of a bridge. "Yeah. It’s a really special scenery for a special day," Soonyoung said.

He walked up to you and stood next to you with his forearms hanging off the bridge. “Really is, I heard you only get to see it with this kind of weather,” you added.

Just when he was about to say something, your phone rang. “Oh sorry, excuse me for a moment,” you said. You moved away from the bridge and answered your phone.

"Yoboseyo?" You said. "Noona! Where are you?" You heard Mingyu ask. "At the bridge wae?" You replied. "Well I’ll meet you there then, stay there!" He said. "Wait wha-" Before you could say anything, he hung up the phone on you.

"What the heck was that all about?" You muttered quietly. You put away your phone and went back to looking at the scenery with Soonyoung. "Who was it?" He asked. "Oh it was just Mingyu," you replied.

"Hey do you know what day it is?" Soonyoung asked. "Um Sunday?" You said and he nodded his head, "Yeah but I meant like the date." You pretended to think for a while and tapped your chin like you did previously.

"Sunday, June 15," you answered. "And..?" He said. You looked into his eyes and it seemed like he was very desperate to get a ‘Happy Birthday’ from you.

You couldn’t help but feel extremely guilty for behaving like this but you it up and continued on acting. “And what? It’s Father’s Day I know. Am I missing something like is it international pie day or something?” You asked and he frowned.

"No, it’s my bir-" He was cut off by someone shouting. "HYUNG! NOONA!" You turned around to see Mingyu running towards you. Thank you for saving me Mingyu. You thought and smiled at him.

"Oh hey Mingyu," you said. You greeted him with a short hug. After pulling away, Mingyu gave Soonyoung a hug. "Hey Mingyu, do you know what day it is today?" Soonyoung asked.

You looked at Mingyu and mouthed, 'Pretend you don't know.' Mingyu gave a slight nod before replying, “Father’s day? It’s Sunday, June 15.” “I already told you this oppa,” you said and Soonyoung frowned.

"It’s a special day today besides Father’s day," Soonyoung hinted. You could tell Mingyu was trying to stifle a laugh like how you were trying to hold back a smile.

"With this special weather it is really a special day," you answered. Soonyoung sighed heavily. "Do you really not know guys?" "Know what?" Mingyu asked.

"It’s my bir-" "Oh yeah! It’s my friend’s birthday today!" Mingyu said. "Oh thanks for reminding me, I’ll make sure I’ll tell him later." Soonyoung gritted his teeth.

"As I was saying, it’s my bir-" "Oh! It’s my cousin’s birthday today!" You quickly added. "Thanks Soonyoung. You really do have good memory." Soonyoung took a deep breath in before talking.

"It’s my bir-" "We know, it’s her cousin’s and my fri-" Soonyoung was fed up and he exploded. "IT’S MY BIRTHDAY FOR GOD’S SAKE!" Soonyoung shouted.

Your eyes widened at how frustrated he was. “You know since all those all people are much more important, I’m leaving. I’ll just go practice. Goodbye,” Soonyoung said.

He pushed pass the both of you. “I-I didn’t mean to make him that angry,” you said. You felt a pain in your chest which you always did whenever you felt extremely guilty or bad for lying.

"They aren’t finished at the practice room! We have to stop him!" Mingyu said. He started running after him and you quickly trailed behind him too.

"Soonyoung!" You shouted after him. He ignored you and continued to walk. "Hyung!" Mingyu tried. As he heard each call for him, he quickened his walking pace.

Soon enough, he was running towards the practice rooms. “We have to stop him quickly otherwise it’ll be ruined!” Mingyu said. You nodded in agreement as both of you ran after him.

Just when he was about to go into the practice rooms, Mingyu blocked his way. “Move Mingyu,” Soonyoung said. He shook his head, “Nope. I’m not letting you go in!”

You were almost there and you could hear the two arguing. Just then, your phone rang. You quickly picked it and heard Seungkwan yelling through the phone.

"Um sorry about Seungkwan! You could come in now noona! We’re ready!" You heard Dongjin say. "Are you sure?" You asked. There was quiet a lot of noise in the background but Dongjin reassured you, "Yep. Don’t worry we’re all getting into our places."

"Okay then I’ll be coming in now," you said and hung up. You put away your phone and turned to see Soonyoung and Mingyu still bickering about.

You ran up to Soonyoung and grabbed his arm. “Let’s go into the practice rooms,” you said. Soonyoung shook your grasp off and he pushed pass Mingyu.

"Just leave me alone," Soonyoung said before walking in. "Well now I feel overboard guilty, this is why I protested," you said. "Sorry noona we didn’t know he would get that angry," Mingyu apologized.

"It’s fine let’s just go in," you said. Mingyu nodded in agreement and both of you went into the practice rooms. Just when you saw Soonyoung push open the door, the lights and you heard everyone shout ‘Happy Birthday’.

You walked into the room and softly said, “Happy Birthday Soonyoung.” He didn’t hear you but you didn’t mind. Mingyu went in and you could see him frantically apologizing for his previous behaviour.

"So how did it go?" Jisoo asked. "Not so well," you replied. "Oh how come?" Junghan asked who was right beside Jisoo. You didn’t notice him which surprised you a bit.

"He got frustrated and he hinted a lot by throwing in the word ‘special’ in almost every sentence he said," you said. "Then when Mingyu came, he just exploded."

"I told you guys it was a bad idea," Jisoo said. "Aish! You didn’t say anything!" Junghan said and playfully shoved Jisoo. You giggled at the two boys.

"Well I guess you should say something to him," Jisoo said. "I should but I’ll be outside. I want some fresh air before I do," you said. They nodded as you turned around to leave.

"Again, I’m really really sorry hyung! I didn’t mean to make you so angry!" Mingyu apologized for the tenth time. "I already told you, don’t worry about," Soonyoung reassured his dongsaeng.

"Anyways, have you seen ________ around? I want to talk to her," Soonyoung said. Mingyu shook his head, "No but she did come in with me. I don’t know what happened to her."

"Oh hyung, I think I saw noona outside," Seungkwan said. Soonyoung thanked Seungkwan before walking outside to the front. Before walking outside, he saw you outside, crying.

His eyes widened and he quickly ran out to front. “Jagiya?” Soonyoung said before he slowly approached you. You looked up and saw Soonyoung. You quickly wiped away the tears that were escaping.

"Oh hi Soonyoung," you said. "Why are you crying?" He asked before carefully pulling you away from the wall and into his embrace. "I just feel really guilty," you mumbled into his shoulder.

"Don’t be. I heard from Mingyu what you guys were trying to be. If anything, I should be the one guilty for suddenly exploding at both of you," he said.

You sniffled and pulled away from his warm embrace. “Happy birthday jagiya,” you whispered. “Sorry for forgetting your special day.” He chuckled as you giggled too.

"It’s fine," he said. "But I was acti-" He cut you off by a kiss. You were surprised at first but quickly melted into the kiss. You leaned into his warmth and wrapped your arms around his neck as he wrapped his around your waist.

You pulled away and hugged him tightly. “Any day is a special day if I get to see your beautiful face,” he said. You giggled at his cheesiness. “Happy birthday,” you said once again before going in for another kiss.

Just when your lips touched, you were interrupted by Mingyu. “Even though it’s your birthday hyung, you shouldn’t be showing too much affection. It’s uncomfortable for third wheels,” Mingyu said.

"Aish just leave us be," Soonyoung said. "But you have to be there when we cut the cake and a-" "We’ll be there in a minute," you cut Mingyu off.

"Don’t be too absorbed in each others’ faces off," Mingyu said. He walked away chuckling as the two of you were left outside. "Are we really going to take just one minute?" Soonyoung asked.

You shook your head, “Nope.” He chuckled quietly before pressing his lips against yours. “NO MAKING OUT PLEASE!” You heard Mingyu shout again.

This time, both of you ignored it and continued on. “YAH! STOP MAKING OUT! IT’S BEEN OVER A MINUTE!” Mingyu shouted. “WE WANT CAKE!” You could hear Junghan and Jisoo add.

After a few more seconds, both of you finally pulled away. Before walking in, he quickly pecked your cheek and held your hand. “Saranghae jagiya,” he whispered into your ear.

You giggled and pecked his cheek. “Sarangehae,” you whispered back. He pushed the door open and walked in. “Ew. Please don’t be all lovey dovey in front of us,” Mingyu said.

"You wish," Soonyoung said before pecking your lips. Mingyu playfully rolled his eyes. "What a cute couple," Junghan said before Jisoo and him quickly walked towards the practice room with Mingyu trailing behind.

Before you walked into the practice room, he pulled you back and pecked your lips. You giggled, “Looks like someone’s in a kissing mood today.” He chuckled and nodded before leaning in for another kiss.

"HYUNG! STOP MAKING OUT!" You heard Mingyu shout for the millionth time.
