His Act

The Monster That Steals Her Heart

----------------------------------------------------------

The cold wind brushed her bare skin, earning a shudder from her body. Her white dress that was now painted with bloody red color blended in with her tears and blankets of snow.

A 12 years old girl shook her mother’s lifeless body, refusing to believe that she had already left her. The girl sobbed louder as time went by until suddenly, a few guys could be seen. Even though they were still far away and the unstoppable snow kept blocking her view, the guys in black were visible in her sight.

Wondering who it was, she squinted her eyes just to get a closer look at them. Soon, the mysterious men were now standing in front of her eyes with the black cape covering their entire bodies including their faces. The girl curiously peered at them.

By the time she spoke up, one of the men held out his hand. It was ghostly white and pale that it could mix up with the white snow. She tilted her head to the side in puzzlement, “Umm…what are you doing?” His smirk could surprisingly be seen underneath the black silhouette.

“Little girl, what are you doing here? By any chance, is that your mother?”

The little girl followed the man’s gaze at her mother’s dead body and hesitantly nodded as another tear slipped down her cheek, “Yes. Can you help me?” The man cackled softly as his long fingernails came out from the tips of his fingers, “Of course I can.”

She grew wary over his odd action but that was the last thing she could think about that time since her mother was more important to her, “Really? Then can you—” A loud scream escaped her lips as the man grabbed her by the neck and lifted her up. She started to choke from the lack of breathing.

“I can’t help revive your mother however, I can help you. Just think of it as a bad nightmare.” The man smirked as fangs popped out, exposing them from his lips. “What—” Before she could finish her sentences, his long claws dug themselves into her skin, forcing out her blood to drip down to her collarbone. She struggled but that didn’t help her at all. He was too powerful.

Tears of pain and agony spilled out from her eyes. It was too early for her to die. She feared death. Was there somebody out here that could help her?

That was when she broke free from the cruel man’s grasp. In a split second, she found herself in someone’s arms. It felt secure and protective. She looked up only to find a little boy glaring dangerously at the man. His black hair swept through his forehead as his visible pale face could be seen.

“Don’t hurt her.”

The boy glowered at the man. The man let out a mocking laughter, “And what are you going to do, young boy? Save her? Do you have powers? No, correct?” The young boy hissed at him and flew away from them with the little girl that was placed securely in his arms. That was the most best and safest option to take right now.

The man smirked, “What a coward boy. You there, clean this mess up. That woman over there, get rid of her.” His so-called-slaves quickly took care of the mess. The man looked back at the dead body as he approached the lifeless beautiful woman with her eyes closed.

Surprisingly, his eyes immediately softened just by looking at the gorgeous woman as his hand reached out and caressed her pale and delicate face, “You left me so I had no choice but to kill you. If you couldn’t be mine then, no one could too.” Soon, his eyes turned back into empty and cold eyes as he snapped his fingers.

 “Get rid of her.”

----------------------------------------------------------

The young girl cried in the little boy’s arms. She was on the verge of dying. Her neck couldn’t stop bleeding by the deep wound she received from the man. That boy softened and put her down on the white snow. He wiped off the blood from her neck, “I’m sorry.”

“M-my mom is g-gone.” She pointed out the obvious thing. She had lost someone that was special to her. Her father and her mother were no longer breathing. The boy couldn’t help but pity her.

Soon, he pulled her into a warm, comforting hug. She calmed down a bit. After a while, the girl pulled from the hug and questioned him, “Can you tell me your name?” The boy stiffened as he avoided her gaze, “I can’t really tell you that.” “Why?” She frowned.

“I can’t.” He sighed and let out a faint smile. “Please tell me so we can meet again.” She persuaded. Finally, after a few moments, he gave in, “All right.” She instantly brightened, “So what’s your name?!” The boy smiled before answering.

“I’m Kim Myungsoo.”

----------------------------------------------------------

“~~~~~!!!!”

Your eyes instantly opened as you sat up, frantically looking around. Beads of sweats fell down from your forehead. You dabbed them off and looked up only to see Hyo Won putting her hands on her hip, “You’re late.”

Noticing that she was already in her school uniform, you got up and scratched your head, “I’ll be right back.”

----------------------------------------------------------

The two of you arrived at school before the bell rang. You sighed in relief as both of you made your way towards the classroom. “Have you contacted Zico?” Hyo Won suddenly brought up. Your morning smile instantly faded when you heard his name, “I don’t know, Hyo Won-ah. Jiho oppa didn’t come to school yesterday too.”

“Same goes to you. You skipped classes yesterday, right?” She raised one of her eyebrows suspiciously. You laughed sheepishly, “I know.” “What did you do anyways?” She asked and waited patiently for your answer. To her dismay, you casually said, “Nothing. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday so I took a rest.”

“You didn’t tell me though.” She pouted. Ignoring her small tantrum, you walked forward and entered the classroom. To your relief, Zico was there. Instantly, all of your worries disappeared as you strode to him. He looked up with an emotionless face just like the old days.

“Are you alright, oppa?” You asked in a caring tone. He just gave you a bitter smile, not trying to ease your worry for him. You sighed and glanced at him, “Are you hiding something from me?” He tensed up. Maybe, just maybe you had guessed it right. You looked at him with skepticism. *He is hiding something from me.*

As if he could read your mind, he quickly replied, “I’m not hiding anything from you.” “Are you sure?” Doubt was still there though. “Yeah so don’t worry about me.” He didn’t even look your way and buried his face into his arms on the desk. You frowned. *How come you keep on lying to me? I wish you were a bit open-minded.*

Nevertheless, you went to your seat and plopped on the chair with a huff. You glanced at Zico for the second time and bit your thumb, “I need to spill out the secret as fast as I can.”

*I need to know everything so I can protect you.*

----------------------------------------------------------

During lunch hour, Hyo Won dragged you to eat at the cafeteria. Since you knew you couldn’t do anything, you had no choice but to follow her. After all, you wouldn’t want to make her more upset. Consoling Zico to tell you the truth needed to be postponed by this time.

While on the other side, Zico hung out at his usual place, the old school gym and if not, it would be the large, shady tree. As always, Zico was resting on a big branch of the shady tree near the school garden. In the midst of his nap, a faint voice could be heard but he didn’t bother to open his eyes but as time went by, the voice didn’t fade away but instead, it became louder and nearer.

The corner of his mouth twitched in annoyance. Not standing the noises, he got up only to find his friend, Kyung staring at him. He backed away in a slight surprise. “What the hell are you doing?” He asked in irritation, definitely not pleased to find his friend accompanying him when he needed some time alone. Kyung nonchalantly shrugged, “Just missing my best friend.” Zico’s eyebrows pinched together in doubt, “Are you sure? I’m sensing that you’re trying to ask me something.”

Being a vampire was not that bad. They could sense anything that felt wrong in someone’s mind. Kyung smoothed his face with his hand, “You know me too well. I’m a vampire too but you can still read my mind.” Zico smirked and shrugged, “Well. That’s just me.” Kyung rolled his eyes, “Yeah, right.”

“So, what’s up?” Kyung glanced over his friend. Zico stared ahead without giving a glance at his friend, “Nothing, really.” “Don’t lie to me. I know there’s something wrong.” Kyung pointed out. Zico mentally cussed, “Damn you for being a vampire just like me.” “Well, that’s just me.” Kyung shot back. This time, it was Zico’s turn to roll his eyes, “Karma.”

Kyung chuckled, “Yeah. Well, back to the topic, tell me. I know you’re hiding something from me.” Zico stared somewhere far away, “You know the time when I needed to go there again right?” Kyung warily nodded, “Does that mean—” “Yeah, I went there yesterday.”

“Did something bad happen?” He asked with an anxious look on his face. Luckily, to his relief, Zico shook his head, “Nah. Nothing bad happened.” Kyung let out a heavy sigh, “Good. So what did he tell you?” “Nothing. He ordered me to stop coming back here and stay there for the rest of my life.” Zico confessed, unfazed.

“Damn. What does he really want anyways?” Kyung shook his head. “I don’t know but I have a bad feeling about this.” He sighed. “Do we need to prepare again?” Kyung questioned. “For now, let’s just relax for a bit. But just be prepared for anything that’ll come in the future.”

Kyung nodded.
