Act 17 - Change of Heart

Her wedding was approaching by fast. Ever little nerve inside of her was appealing it's self.

Her parents were so far away. If only they were here to comfort her and tell her that everything will be alright.

Today she was to meet her future mother in law for lunch. She was afraid of her to be precise. Something about the looks of her makes her hair stand up.

Her mother in law was sitting in the back waiting for her. She wore a clean outfit to impress the mother in law.

"You're here on time." she look at her watch.

Victoria bow before taking her seat.

"H-how are you?" Victoria stutter on her every question.

"Let's get to the point. I call you up not because I wanted to go shopping with you. I'm giving you a warning. Stop this wedding before it gets messy. I don't like you one bit."

Victoria was speechless. What was she suppose to say?

"I.."

"You're probably never educated enough. You're no match to my son."

She excuse herself.

Victoria sat still with a shock face.

She knew his mother did like her but did she really have to say all of that to her face?

"Mom. Where'd you go?" Sherleen ask eating a bite of her apple.

"To meet her."

"Who?"

"Who else?"

"Mom, don't tell me.."

"Too late."

Sherleen knew what her mother just did.

"MOM! You know that's not right of you to say such words to her."

"I'm just telling her the truth. If she can't handle it, she can always step out of this marriage."

Her mother went into her room. Sherleen hated this moment. She needed to comfort Victoria.

Sherleen walk up to her brother's studyroom.

"Happy now?" Sherleen scream at him.

He look up confuse.

"You're probably happy inside because Mom's taking care of everything for you while you sit and enjoy the scenery huh?!"

"What are you taking about?" Nichkhun finally ask her.

"Mom just told her a bunch of crap to Victoria. Poor her. She must be suffering." Sherleen sigh loudly.

"What did you say?" Nichkhun jump out from his seat.

"Mom told her that she didn't like Victoria and wanted her to step out of this marriage."

Though Nichkhun didn't like her, he knew this was wrong. She didn't deserve such crucial words from his mother.

"I'll go see her." Nichkhun ran out.

"Nichkhun!" Sherleen shouted after him but was too late.

He was already out the door.

Victoria was still taken back from what she heard earlier.

Maybe this was a wrong choice she's chosen. It's not late to turn back since she hasn't pick her dress yet. Mr. Horvejkul should understand her situation right?

That's what she needed to do. Meet with him.

Nichkhun knock at her door but no one answer.

"Where is she?" he started to panick.

It was his fault for letting his mother run loss like this. He was angry at himself.

Wait, why is he mad? He should be proud right?

If she backs out then that means no marriage for him.

But than why is he feeling a guilt inside of him?

Has he fallen for her already?

Victoria waited in Mr.Horvejkul's office for him.

She sat down in the comfortable chairs.

She waited and waited for him but no presence of him anywhere.

She was ready to leave when he finally came in with his secretary.

"Leave for a moment." he motion for him to leave.

"Yes sir."

"What brings you here child?"

Victoria smile. The sight of him can brighten your mood regardless if you're having a bad day or not.

"Mr.Horvejkul.."

"Don't call me that. Call me Father instead."

Victoria hesitated at first.

"F-father." she merely smile.

"What is it dear."

How was she going to break this to him?

"I.. " she trail off.

"Yes?" he waited for her to start explaining why she was meeting him.

"Is it possible to - "

"Victoria!" Nichkhun rush in.

Victoria made a small jump at Nichkhun's appearance.

"Son. Why are you here?"

"Can I talk to Victoria for a bit?"

"Sure."

Nichkhun drag her out.

"Are you crazy?" Victoria yell at him.

"What was that?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're not going to cancel on the marriage are you?" Nichkhun seriously ask her.

"Why do you care? It's not like you'll be sad if I did cancel this marriage. It's ridiculous to start out with." Victoria turn around but was stop by Nichkhun.

"No. You can't stop the marriage."

"What?!" Victoria yell in protest.

What's going on here? First he wanted to cancel the marriage and now he wants to continue it? What's real?

"You can't. If you do, my father will charge you with bills and I'm sure you won't like it." Nichkhun try explaining it to her.

She understood some of the concepts but the rest was just too confusing to her.

So did he like her or what? Why did he suddenly have a change of heart out of the blues?

"So you can't tell him anything."

"Fine. I won't." Victoria finally gave up.

"Good. Let's go." Nichkhun drag Victoria out of the hotel.

She didn't even get a chance to tell her father in law good-bye.
