MERRY CHRISTMAS!; Santa Claus

“Where the hell are you taking me so late?” I frowned at the man who dragged me out of my friend’s apartment. He held my hand tight and is now pulling me out of the building.

I shivered after being welcomed by a gush of cold wind as he pulled me out. He then stopped walking and turned his head as if he forgot something. Once his eyes land on me, he sighed and slapped the palm of his hand to his forehead. 
I simply watched him unravel in various ways in front of me, a small frown creasing my forehead while a small smile played on my lips.

 Letting out yet another sigh, he took my free hand, tucking it in my pocket. I stared at him, confusion evident in my face.

“I forgot to bring your gloves.” he said, his face scrunched up into an apologetic look. I smiled a bit and shook my head, giving him an ‘it’s okay’. He gave me a hesitant look and I just simply shooed him away.

“Let’s go.” I said before starting to walk before him “Where are you taking me anyways?” I turned to him once he caught up to me. He gave me a small smile before tucking my left hand in my pocket and taking my right hand in his own, stuffing it in his pocket. I cocked a brow at him.

“I’ll keep you warm instead.” he grinned at me, making me roll my eyes at his cheesiness. We walked the streets once more, silence soon taking over us. And even though there were people talking, cars passing by, music playing our silence was never broken. It was just him and me and nothing else. 

His hand keeping mine warm in his pocket, his body a little bit closer than normal to mine-- probably because he knows I get cold too easily-- everything was almost perfect. Almost  because nothing will ever be perfect and things can only come close to it. 

But even though there was no perfection and this was probably a fraction of it, this small silence was ours. This intimate moment where we knew and shared more likely the same thoughts and feelings. 

Youngjae stopped walking, making me suddenly halt halfway through a step. I turned to him with a confused look on my face but he just kept his gaze on the toy store in front of us.

“What are you looking at?” I asked, trying to look at what he was looking for but there was nothing in particular that would get his attention here anyways.

“Youngjae--” I tried calling for him but his face brightened considerably and a gleeful smile crept up his face. I gaped at him for a few minutes before snapping back to reality when he pulled me by hand once more towards the store.

“Daehyun!” he called and I could see the mischievous glint in his eyes. I turned to see his best friend dressed as Santa Claus, waiting outside the toy store. My eyes widened and I couldn’t help but snort at his ridiculous outfit.

“What the hell are you wearing?” I asked him and he grunted, scratching the back of his head in annoyance. He gave me a begging look and I pursed my lips, trying to save him the last bit of pride.

“Someone forced me out of my part time job to do this.” he said in a growl and my eyes widened in shock. Looking over to the man beside me who is now dying of laughter at his friend.

“You asked Daehyun to dress up as Santa for me?” I asked, feeling guilty for being happy in this type of situation. As much as I like Daehyun-- and I don’t like doing these things to friends-- I just couldn’t help but feel happy that he actually did something like this for me.

“Well, I didn’t know any other Santas.” he shrugged “He already had the job here but didn’t want anyone to know. I just asked him for this one time.” he said as he pressed his lips together, trying to compose himself.

I smiled up to him and gave in to the urge and wrapped my arms around his neck. His arms immediately wrapped around my waist, his thumbs drawing circles on my hips. 

“Thank you” I said, pecking his lips in between each word. His lips curved into a smile and he looked down to me, his eyes warm and shining as if they reflected how I felt-- all warm and happy.

“Hm. I’d do this anytime if this is what I get.” he wiggled his eyebrows at me and I playfully hit his arm.

“Yeah, yeah. You still laughed at me this morning though.” I scowled at him. He chuckled and kissed my forehead.

“Uhuhm. Sorry ‘bout that.”he murmured, his lips still on my forehead. I smiled and buried my face in his chest before hearing a grunt from the long forgotten Daehyun..

“Just get a room, already.” he groaned, turning to go back in the store. I chuckled and pulled away from Youngjae’s hug-- turning when I heard Youngjae murmur an ‘I am so getting him back for that.’ under his breath as he shook his head.

I smiled and gave him an incredulous look before grabbing his hand and pulling him with me. He put our intwined hands in his pocket once more and I leaned my head on his shoulder as we leisurely started walking back to our apartment in our own contented silence once more.
