Chapter 26: Goodbye 'My Friend'

Luhan parked his car at the designated parking lots for students. The both of you were greeted by some of the organizing team members who placed a wrist band around your wrists. Luhan led you to the open field where most students were hanging around.

From where you were, you could spot your classmates chatting with other students. You and Luhan hanged around them for a while since you guys couldn't spot the rest of the gangs.

"Stay with them, I'll get drinks for us," Luhan whispered in your ears.

Before he managed to walk away, you grabbed his hands and pulled him down to your height level, "There's no alcohol right?"

"Of course not!" Luhan slightly raised his voice as the music became louder, "Even if there were, I wouldn't give them to you."

You gave him an appreciative smile and motioned for him to go.

"Yuri ah," a male classmate called for you, "Are you and Luhan dating?"

Your eyes widen and you shook your head vigorously, "What makes you think so."

"You see," a female classmate chirped in, "Before you came, Luhan's kind of close off. He rarely talks to anyone unless he needs too."

The rest of your classmates nodded in agreement, "He wasn't cold but he has that kind of aura around him and nobody dared to approach him."

"Yeah," the male classmate added in, "But right now, he seems more relaxed and it's easier to approach him."

You couldn't help but chuckle at all the new information you're getting, "Your point is."

"Our point is, ever since you came, Luhan seems different. Good different."

"Like as though he's a changed man."

"More like a man in love," everyone laughed.

While you and your fellow classmates were discussing about Luhan, the said boy was busy at the snacks table getting a drink for you. He poured a glass of pink lemonade for you and took a can of coke for himself.

"Luhan right?" Luhan turned to the left and he saw Finn taking a can of coke.

Luhan curtly nods his head and walked off but was stopped by Finn, "Can we talk?"

"I'm sorry but we're not close enough to have a 'talk'," Luhan replied.

Finn tightened his grip on Luhan's arms causing him to drop his coke, "What's your relationship with Yuri?"

Luhan pushed Finn's hands away and narrowed his eyes at the boy in front of him, "My relationship with Yuri is none of your concern."

"Do you like her?" Finn blurted out.

"What if I do?" Luhan asked.

Finn smirked and walked away, "Good luck then."

Luhan stopped him and pulled him back, "Listen up. You have no idea who you're messing with. This is my territory so don't you dare act like you own this place."

Finn rolled his eyes and lightly pushed Luhan, "It's not like you own this school too."

"I don't," Luhan wiped off the dirt on his shirt, "But my parents do."

Finn stared at Luhan in disbelief.

Luhan smirked and took another can of coke to replace the one he dropped earlier, "By the way, I hope you and your friends stick around longer. We have a special gift for you guys."

Luhan purposely bumped his shoulders with Finn's as he walked away.

Luhan finally found you after walking a big round and handed you your drink. His phone rang and he checked to see who called, "Kris what is it?"

"Where are you?" Kris asked.

"I'm at the field with Yuri," he replied.

"Yejin and I are walking to the pool area. The guys and some of the seniors are already there. Bring the rest here."

Luhan hanged up the call and tapped your shoulders, "The guys are at the pool. Let's go."

He told the rest of the seniors around him and they knew exactly what's happening. While you and Luhan walked to the venue, the remaining seniors walked to the podium to make a quick announcement, "Attention to all freshies, juniors and distinguished guests. We, on behalf of the seniors, would like to invite all of you to the pool area. We have a gift prepared for all of you."

Slowly the crowd made their way to the pool and the seniors couldn't help but laugh at the bunch of naive people.

"What's the plan?" Xiu Min asked.

Tau rubbed his palms and paid attention.

"We're going to ask the exchange students to stand by the pool and each of us seniors will hand this empty box to them as a gift," Chen said.

"Once they took it from you, wait for me to blow this whistle," Lay continued, "Once I blew it, we push them into the pool and we shall shout 'Goodbye my friend!’ after that."

The seniors cheered at the brilliant idea while you, Kris and Yejin shook your heads in disapproval.

"Are we even allowed to do this?" You asked.

"It's a tradition! The Principal already expected it'll happen sooner or later so don't worry," says Xiu Min.

"Heol!" You exclaimed.

The pool area was now packed with almost the entire student body. Everyone stood around while the seniors stood at the front near the pool itself.

Xiu Min pushed Kris forward, signalling the start of the tradition. Kris cleared his throat awkwardly as he prayed that nothing goes wrong, "Good evening everyone. I'm Kris Wu the President of the student council."

Everyone clapped enthusiastically, "On behalf of the seniors, we hoped that our guests enjoyed their stay here in Seoul and that you had fun making friends with us seniors."

Kris stopped for a moment and Chen whispered for him to invite the guests forward.

"Like the past years, we seniors have decided to continue the tradition out past seniors has set. So, I would like to call upon our guests to step forward and join my fellow seniors by the pool for a gift presentation."

Juniors knew exactly what's happening by now but they just kept mum.

One by one, the exchanged students walked towards the pool while the seniors scrambled around with 'gift boxes' as they look for their prey. Luhan spotted Finn standing near the centre of the pool and he quickly moved towards him.

By the time he walked over, someone was already standing in front of Finn. Luhan walked towards them and tapped on the boy, "I'll take him. You can have that skinny one over there."

The boy agreed and swapped with Luhan.

You on the other hand were walking towards Jamie and Nicole while Yejin followed you.

You stood beside Luhan and in front of you was Nicole, the girl you used to trust wholeheartedly. Nicole looked at you suspiciously but you avoided eye contact at all costs.

"Nervous?" Luhan asked both you and Yejin.

"Of course I am!" Yejin exclaimed.

"If anything happens, you guys are so dead," Yuri eyed Luhan.

Luhan could only laugh while the other three looked at you guys with confused looks.

Yejin saw Tao passing his gift to his 'partner' and she started panicking, "Oh god it's starting!"

Slowly, everyone handed over their gifts as they waited for Lay's signalled.

When they heard the whistle, every senior shouted at the same time before pushing the person in front of them, "Goodbye my friend!"

One by one, students fell into the pool and seniors ran back to avoid getting wet.

"Didn't I tell you this is MY territory?" Luhan shouted as he laughed at the furious Finn.

Teachers could only watch as they students fall into the pool. One thing for sure is that they have a say in everything except for the seniors’ tradition.

"GO SENIORS!" Tao shouted and some of the seniors jumped into the pool followed by the juniors and freshmen.

"You guys are idiots," Kris mumbled as he watched the exchange students struggling with their wet clothes.

Although you might not admit it out loud but somehow you felt good after pushing your old friends into the pool.
