Chapter 17: Detective Lay?

"Dinner's ready!" Xiu Min's voiced echoed the entire house but you and Luhan couldn't hear a single thing.

Since the both of you were still inside your room, Lay decided to call the both of you out. He knocked on the door and yet there were still no response. Lay opened your door abruptly, causing the both of you to jump.

"Was I interrupting something?" Lay rubbed his neck awkwardly after he witnessed the mini staring session between his two best friends.

"Lay! N-no," you began stuttering, "We were, I was just.."

Luhan interrupted you and started rubbing his eyes, "She accidentally poked my eyes. That's all."

"Okay then," Lay totally wasn't buying it, "Dinner's served. Come out once you've, you know… taken care of your eyes."

Lay closed the door behind him and joined the rest of the boys.

"Aren't they eating?" Kris asked.

"Something happened to Luhan's eyes," Lay simply shrugged.

The boys decided not to wait any longer and started to eat first.

"Taemin," Lay turned to face the said boy, "Does Yuri stutter when she's lying?"

"Yuri? Kind of. That girl can't lie to save her life. I once got into trouble thanks to her horrible lying skills. Why did you ask?"

"Nothing, just curious," Lay took a sip of his apple juice and couldn't help but smirk as he drank the juice.

Minutes later, you and Luhan came out of your room with Luhan's eyes in perfect in conditions. Seeing how flustered the both of you were, Lay couldn't help hut chuckle to himself.

You took a seat beside your cousin away from Luhan. Taemin noticed your flushed face and grew concerned, "Hey, are you okay? Why is your face so red?"

Lay, who was sitting beside, decided to pry further, "Yeah why? Are you still down with fever?"

He decided to test Luhan's reaction and so Lay reached out to touch your forehead. He noticed how Luhan stiffened at his actions and at that moment he knew that his best friend has feelings for his new best friend.

"You should rest after dinner," Kris commented.

"Yeah, we'll clean up the place for you," Chen assured you.

Not wanting to be in anymore awkward situation with Luhan, you decided to allow them to clean up your place while you rest.

You didn't want to eat your medicines and so you walked to your and quickly shut the door. You heaved a sigh of relief when nobody caught you.

"Trying to run away?"

You jumped on your spot when you heard someone's voice, "Luhan! W-what are you doing here?"

"Taemin told me to make sure you actually EAT your medicines," he held up the tray from your study table and walked towards your bed.

Luhan made you sit beside him as he carefully checked the medicines, "it says right here that you're supposed to eat two pills three times a day. Shouldn't you have completed them by now?"

You saw the look on Luhan's face and you couldn't help but felt guilty for not eating the medicines since he paid for them.

"If you don't want to eat the other medicines, you should at least finish up your antibiotics."

"Fine," You held out your hands and Luhan gave you the antibiotics which you gulped down with a glass of water.

He passed you a piece of tissue paper to wipe your face and asked if want the candy, "Yes please!"

He gave you a Mentos and rolled his eyes, " You're such a kid Tinkerbelle."

"Says the boy who looks like a 12 year old."

Luhan stuck his tongue out at you before leaving your room so that you could rest.

Outside, the boys were busy cleaning up and Xiu Min was walking around giving them instructions. Even Taemin was forced to do some work. Xiu Min saw Luhan and the first thing he did was to shout at the boy, "Ya! Why aren't you cleaning up?"

"Geez! I was making sure that woman actually eats her medicines!" Luhan walked to the kitchen and kept the medicines.

"Are you sure?" Lay raised his eyebrows, "Did she poke your eyes again?"

Luhan eyed widen and he quickly covered Lay's mouth, "Zhang Yi Xing, one more remark from you and I swear you won't be able to dance again."

"I know you wouldn't dare. Besides I wasn't saying anything. Why are you so uptight?  Unless you two really did something in there just now."

Luhan let go of his hands and sighed, "You know what? There's a dance competition tomorrow and I'll get a ticket for you if you stop bothering me about her."

"Deal! Buy me two if that's the case."

"Two?!"

"Yeah. I want to ask Yuri to come with me."

"Are you kidding me? She's sick. Find someone else," Luhan snapped.

Lay laughed and rolled his eyes, "Fine! I'll ask Kai. Happy?"

Luhan flashed a smile a quickly walked away to help Tao with clean the guest room for Taemin.

"You're not getting away with this Luhan. I'll continue monitoring you," Lay talked to himself. "ZHANG YI XING! Stop spacing out and start cleaning!" Xiu Min screamed.
