DOOJOON'S POV CONTINUED:

"Junhyungie oppa!" Heran squealed, throwing her arms around Junhyung and squeezing him tightly. "I missed you so much, I couldn't wait to see you!"

"I missed you too, Herannie." Junhyung said joyfully, looking like he was the luckiest man on earth.
She tugged on his arm. "Junnie oppa, can you buy me lunch please?"

"Of course, Rannie. What do you want?" He took out his wallet and the two of them skipped off to the lunch line.

Hyunseung smiled at the two lovebirds, but I glowered at them. I still didn't trust Heran. She kept on doing weird things -- touching my hair when she walks by, or brushing her fingertips against my arm or my back, winking at me, indiscreetly flirting with me when no one was noticng.

"Doojoon, at least TRY to be nicer to Heran." Hyunseung said, frowning. "Junhyung really likes her, and as the maknae of our trio, you should try to be happier for him."

"I just think.........they aren't right together...........that's all." I muttered. Oh, I really wish I could tell them. But I didn't know what to do. Break Junhyung's heart? I still hoped Heran would just fall in love with the devoted and lovestruck Junhyung and I could forget everything that's happened.

They returned, and Heran kissed Junhyung on the cheek. "Thank you, oppa. You really are the sweetest thing."

Junhyung turned pink and smiled with pleasure. "Whatever you want, I will give you, Heran."

"I know you will, oppa."

Hyunseung smiled at them. "You lovebirds aren't going to start making out in front of us, are you? I want to keep my lunch in my stomach."

"Oh, shut up." Junhyung muttered, turning a darker shade of red.

Heran giggled. "It's okay, Junhyung. After all, WE'RE MEANT TO BE."

When she said those last words, her hand twisted up to my knee and squeezed it.

I shot out my chair, my face pale. I was shivering, a chill going down my spine. "Hyung?" Junhyung asked, surprised at my sudden movement. Heran showed polite surprise, but there was a smirk on her face.

"I'm not hungry anymore." I hissed, before walking out of the cafeteria as quickly as I could without running. I could feel Heran's eyes on me the entire time, and it scared and disgusted me.

I don't know what happened, but somehow I found myself spending a lot of time with Heran. We were doing school projects together, we were homework partners...........it seemed like the teacher was always pairing us up to do stuff together. Did she bribe him or something? And I knew this was bothering Junhyung.

After a few weeks of this, I bumped into Heran again. "What are you up to now?" I muttered.

"Don't be mean, oppa." Heran said, giggling. "I've decided to come clean about only being Junhyung's girlfriend because I liked you."

"Oh, good. Now go away."

"No, there's a teenty-tiny widdle problem, oppa." Heran pouted. "I can't lose my reputation on being a sweet, polite girl who wouldn't hurt anyone, and this might just ruin it. So, I'm going to have to tell a little white lie, okee-dokee?"

"No, ." I snarled. "You tell the TRUTH."

"Awww, but that won't do, oppa. After all......." A deadly smirk appeared on her face. "If I tell Junhyung the truth, that I never loved him...........that might just break his heart, wouldn't it?"

The muscles in my face tightened. "You little ........."

"Well, what's it going to be, Doojoon oppa?" Heran purred, putting a hand on my chest and leaning in close to me. I flinched, but couldn't move. "Tell the truth like good, honest children, or tell a little white lie to save your best friend from a life of self-despair and misery?"

"God damn you......."

She smirked and walked away.

"I'm truly sorry, oppa. I should never have fallen in love with him. I should have loved you, and only you. I'm so sorry."

By the time Junhyung yelled out "Heran, wait!" in panic, she was gone, in her parent's car, driving to Seoul Airport. 

I arrived in time to see her kiss his cheek as she said that.

"Junhyung? Hyunseung?" I asked in surprise.

Junhyung turned around, and I saw pure sadness and anger and betrayal in his face. He sprinted at me, and the next thing I knew, I was down on the ground with a severe pain in my jaw.

"You bastard!" Junhyung yelled, tears filling his eyes. "You damn bastard! How could you? You broke my heart by taking away my girlfriend, then you broke her heart in return? Just how much do you have to with my happiness, HUH?" 

I didn't understand what he was saying. What did Heran tell him? "What are you talking about?" I groaned, slowly getting up painfully to my feet.

"I thought you were my best friend. My bro. Man, was I wrong."

He rubbed tears away and glared at me furiously. "I will promise you this, Doojoon. I will get you back one day, I will take revenge for this. The next time you find a girl you love, I will take her away from you. I will save that future girl from another heartbreak. I will not let another girl have her heart broken by you. I promise you that, and unlike you, I intend to keep my promise."

Then he walked away, and Hyunseung followed with one last glance at me.

I stood there, shocked. And sad.

It was over. Junhyung and I weren't best friends anymore. We weren't friends period. He hated me now, and I bet Hyunseung did too.

I should tell them. I should go over there and tell him right now.

But I knew it would kill him. He loved Heran so much, more than anything in the world. If he knew she never loved him from the start, it would literally kill him. If he believed I stole her from him.............then I won't fight it. I would take all the pain, the hurt, the betrayal, the anger.........if it meant protecting my best friend from the bitter truth, I would do it.
