A day in Kim Junsu's life

My Private Host

JUNSU’S POV

That Tuesday I woke up at unholy hours after having slept nit even 5 hours. I opened the curtains of my bedroom’s window expecting to feel the sunlight on my face, helping me to wake up. But the sun hadn’t even come out yet. I sighed; it was gonna be another of those busy and boring days.

I hoped up in the shower and let the cold water run trough me to wake me up.

My first appointment yearly in the morning was with an old rich lady that was gonna make me pass by her grandson who was in the other half of the world enjoying his youth not caring at all about his grandma’s business. I was gonna pose has her grandson in a business exchange with a foreign investor. Basically what I had to do was to stay by her side, play my part and not say a word.

I didn’t even recall how I got into that, but I was preparing myself for some hours of pure boredom.

I searched my closet for a nice suit.  Then I choose a pair of glasses and shoes.

I always tried to dress differently when I was working and in my daily life. It’s not like I was some Clark Kent with two different personalities, I just tried to change some things to not make very easy for previous clients to recognize me on the street.

And it wasn’t very difficult either. Normally when working I had to dress formally so on my everyday life I had a very casual style. While working I tended to use my hair pushed back very neatly and out of work I used it in a more messy style. Even the glasses were different, I preferred the big stylish ones but at work I always used some more chick and classic.

I looked at myself on the mirror sighing: “Dressed up so neatly just to stay there quiet.”

Not feeling like preparing my own breakfast I just fed the cats and went to a little cake shop to eat something.

I read the newspaper while I ate a cupcake and drank a cappuccino. At more suitable hours I texted Yoochun:

To: Grandpa Chunnie

Annyong Chunnie-ah. Are you awake yet?

I’m eating breakfast alone =( I’m gonna have such a boring day.

I should just keep teaching dance at your company, what do you say?

I . I waited for his answer for about 10 minutes but when he didn’t answer I just assumed he was still sleeping, after all it wasn’t even 7 in the morning.

At 7:30 I was waiting in front of my client’s house. She walked out in a fur jacket and covered in jewels. She reached me and looked me from head to toe with a displeased impression.

“Anyongaseyo, Junsu imnida. We talked on the phone.” I greeted.

“You look nothing like my grandson. We wouldn’t dress… well, like that.” She looked at my outfit once again. “Anyways, my business partner is foreign so it’s not likely for him to meet you on the street so I guess it won’t matter. Just keep your mouth shut and obey what I tell you.”

“Yeh.” I said and vowed politely.

I entered the car after her feeling extremely uncomfortable and just wanting to get out of there. Her bodyguards? maybe, ridded the front seats of the car but even with their black suits and sunglasses they didn’t look so intimidating like the lady did.

I tried to think of a topic to start a conversation but every time I opened my mouth to say something I immediately regretted and just opted to stay quiet.

We stopped in front of a big glassy building and went to one of the top floors were we met her business partner in a big office. I vowed and stayed behind my client all the time.

They talked fluently in English and I could barely follow the conversation. I noticed I, I mean her grandson, was mentioned in the conversation some times and though the blond foreign man looked at me curiously sometimes I was never asked to join the conversation.

The hours were passing slowly and my feet start hurting from standing up behind my “grandmother” who was comfortably seating on a couch.

After a few hours my legs were complaining and I kept shifting my weight from one to another trying to get some rest. As we approached lunch hour my mouth started getting dry and my stomach was aching with hunger.

We were long into the afternoon when my client finally shake the man’s hand in goodbye. I did the same.

“Jung-In, let’s go.” She called me by an unfamiliar name.

“Yeh, omonim.” I obeyed, keeping the act.

When we reached her car she coldly said: “Your payment will be transferred to your bank account.” She entered the car and drove off without even say goodbye.

“Rich, arrogant people. Yacks.” I mumbled to myself while I walked the street searching for a taxi.

When I finally reached home I let myself fall down on the couch, my legs where killing me. But soon weird noises came from my belly, remembering me of how hungry I was.

I regretted not have taken a better breakfast given that I was having lunch at almost 5p.m.

After stuffing myself I rested a bit and watched some television. I fell asleep for a bit and when I woke up I had to run again to prepare myself to go work again.

This time I was accompanying an old client to the opening of an art gallery of one of her friends. I was sure it was going to be more entertaining than my job from that morning. Even though I didn’t know much about art or how to appreciate it, the age gave between me and this client was little and we always had something to talk about.

I dressed up in a semi-formal outfit, picked her up at her place and drove to the art gallery myself.

There was a buffet and champagne was being served so the fact that I had skipped dinner wasn’t a big deal. I actually enjoyed the evening, So-Ra, my client, kept explaining me all about the art pieces and I met a lot of nice people. But I was so tired that I had to make an effort to keep a smile by the end of the evening.

I reached my place past midnight. Drop my cloths on the way to the bedroom and crawled under the bed sheets. I my phone that I always turned off while working. I had one message and several missing calls from unknown numbers:

From: Grandpa Chunnie

REALLY? ARE YOU TALKING SERIOUS? I’ll fire Eunhyukie right now. =)

Miss you Su.

I smiled to my phone and answered:

To: Grandpa Chunnie

I’m really getting tired of all this. I should find something that leaves me more time to be with you. I’ll think seriously about it.

Miss you too Chunnie.

He didn’t answer. He must be asleep again =/ . I was falling asleep to when my phone rang. I answered it without even seeing who the caller was:

“Yooboseyo?”

“Is this Kim Junsu? I got your number from someone that used your services a while ago. I needed to hire you…”

“I’m sorry mam, I’m really busy in the next few days and I’ll be changing jobs in the near future. You should contact someone else.”

“No, my friend told me how considerate you are and you are young, I need that. It’s for my daughter. I don’t know what to do. I need your help.” She begged. After that I couldn’t just hang up on her.

She told me all how her daughter has been victim of bullying in her school and with a school ball approaching she was getting more depressed each they cause the bullies kept taunting her and telling her that no one would invite her to be their pair.

Her teachers kept disregarding the matter saying it was just a little quarrel between school mates. But I have had enough mother’s calling me with the same problem and I knew how badly it could turn out when the kids in suffering were ignored.

“I’ll pick her up at 8 o’clock then. And don’t worry I’ll take good care of her.” I told the mom and hanged up after hearing all of hers thanks.

I would have more work than I could handle the next week, but at least I was going to do a job that I enjoyed. Helping someone was the reason I liked to do what I did.

I was almost asleep once again when my phone rang one more time:

“I’m sorry but I’m not taking any more clients for the moment.” I said exhausted and without patient to be more polite.

“Oh really? That’s unfortunate. I was really hoping to see you again.” A very familiar voice said surprising me and making me sit straight on my bed.

"You...!"

"Anyong Junsu-ah. I missed you."
