“What did she do to deserve this?” Kwangsoo asked on her behalf.

“Oppa, I’m fine. You drank garlic juice, Jaesuk-oppa got pricked on the finger, Sehun-oppa went inside the secret compartment, and then there’s me. Everyone does their part.” Sunmi tried her best to reassure him with a smile.

“I don't know where we are going, but can we go faster? Sunmi seems to be feeling dizzy.” Kwangsoo told Haejin.

“We are going to the shaman's house. I hid the new medicine I discovered at the shaman's house.” Haejin stated.

“Will it cure her?” Kwangsoo asked, pertaining to Sunmi.

“No. It will cure me.” Haejin stated and when Sunmi heard that, she grew worried. However, she couldn’t do much. She didn’t know why the antidote was affecting her faster than usual.

“You have her antidote, right?” Kwangsoo checked.

“Of course. I will give it to her after I find my medicine. Don't worry.” Haejin reassured him.

“I am asking because I am curious. Why did the villagers kill your girlfriend to keep you from leaving?” Kwangsoo asked him.

“My grandfather passed down an incurable disease. The villagers believe a patient with that disease will keep them safe from the vampire. That's why the villagers are keeping me locked up. To keep me from leaving the island, they murdered my girlfriend. Now, I want to leave the island.” Haejin narrated.

“Oh, wait...I hear bells.” Kwangsoo said as they arrived at the Shaman’s house. Kwangsoo was about to come in when Haejin stopped her.

“Wait. Don't tell her I'm here. What's your name?” He asked Kwangsoo.

“It's Lee Kwangsoo.” He answered.

“And yours?” He looked at Sunmi this time.

“Lee Sunmi.”

“Kwangsoo, you go in and distract her. I'll look for the cure with Sunmi. If she sees me, Sunmi will also die. She rescued you. Now, her life is in your hands.” Haejin told him.

“What's with all of these death threats?” Kwangsoo asked out loud.

“Don’t worry about me, oppa. Just do your best.” Sunmi encouraged.

“Let's go.” Haejin gestured towards the house.

“All right.” Kwangsoo nodded.

“She's right here by the gate.” Kwangsoo reported as Haejin and Sunmi ducked low.

“Are we good?” Haejin asked.

“Yes.” 

“Let's hurry. I'm sure it's in a crock.” Haejin told him.

“Really?” Sunmi asked.

“Kwangsoo, go and distract her. We'll look for the cure.” Haejin said and Kwangsoo showed himself to the Shaman. Haejin led Sunmi to sit beside some of the crocks.

“You, stay there. You must be allergic to one of the ingredients I used for the poison. That’s why you’re weaker.” Haejin told her as he began sorting through the crocks.

Sunmi looked at him as he worked.

“So what’s the medicine really for?” She asked him in a low tone.

“Like I told your friend, it’ll cure me.” He explained.

“I doubt that’s all there is to it. Your test subjects died. I think it’ll do something else too.” Sunmi told him.

“You sure do talk a lot for someone whose time is running out.” He commented as he continued opening the crocks. 

“Well, if these are really my last moments, I want to make them count, at least.” She answered and watched as he opened a crock that launched something which hit him in the face. Sunmi had to do her best not to laugh. The next one he opened launched something out as well and although she was having a little trouble breathing, she laughed without making a sound. He went through the remaining crocks at the front of the house before going to the ones at the side.

“Dr. Park, did you love her a lot?” She asked out of the blue.

“I did. More than anything. I wanted to get out of this Island to build something better for the both of us.” He explained to her but screamed when something launched out at him again. Sunmi couldn’t help but giggle.

“That sound.” He said all of a sudden and Sunmi looked at him curiously.

“You remind me of her. She used to laugh so freely around me.” He stated and Sunmi didn’t know what to say to that. 

“I hope whatever you're planning on doing is worth all this. And that it brings you happiness as well.” She told him and he didn’t say anything so Sunmi left it.

After opening almost all the crocks, he finally found what he was looking for. He went to tell Kwangsoo that they could go.

“Did you find it?” Kwangsoo, slightly out of breath, asked Haejin.

“I did.” Haejin answered.

“Let's get going then.” Kwangsoo suggested.

“Should we head to the launching pad?” Haejin asked the two agents.

“Sure, let's go.” Kwangsoo agreed.

“All right.” Haejin said as he smelt his hands.

“What is that?” Kwangsoo asked him, catching a whiff of his hands as well.

“There was something weird in the shaman's crocks. So…” Haejin said as he wiped his hands on Kwangsoo.

“It really is weird.” Sunmi said as the smell reached her nose as well.

“Why did you wipe it on me? What's that weird smell?” Kwangsoo said as he smelt the part of his coat Haejin touched.

“Let's go.” It was all Haejin said.

“Is it this way?” Sunmi asked.

“Yes, it is. I hope your team makes it to the launching pad on time. I would hate to see the end of your life, Sunmi.” Haejin said as they walked towards the launching pad. Once they got there, they waited for the others to arrive. Suddenly, Sunmi started wheezing.

“Kwangsoo-oppa. I can’t breathe properly.” She was able to say. Kwangsoo was in a panic, he looked around and saw one of the teams coming.

“Over there.” Haejin pointed to the said team.

“Did you find it?” Kwangsoo called out. 

“Yes, we did.” Sehun was in a hurry to get to the flares.

“We're running out of time. Fire them up!” Kwangsoo said, nervous for Sunmi who risked her life for him.

“Fire them up!” Kwangsoo said again.

“We haven't got them.” Sehun hurriedly said as he passed by with Jaewook.

“We're heading…” Jaewook trailed off as they got farther.

“Didn't you just say you found them? Hey! Hurry up! Sunmi’s having some kind of allergic reaction!” Kwangsoo called out. After a few minutes, Minyoug and Sejeong’s team arrive. They hurriedly started setting up. While they were doing that, Kwangsoo saw Jaesuk and Jongmin coming.

“Hyung, did you find it?” He asked them.

“Yes.” Jaesuk confirmed.

“Okay!” Kwangsoo cheered,

“We found two, Sunmi. Just hang in there.” Kwangsoo told her.

“Stick it in here.” Kwangsoo instructed and Jaesuk immediately set it up.

“Kwangsoo-oppa. I feel dizzier now.” Sunmi called out as she curled into a fetal position while sitting.

“Really?” Kwangsoo panicked.

“Give her the antidote.” Jaesuk told Haejin.

“We only need one now.” Haejin told them.

“We found it!” The others could faintly hear Jaewook. Sunmi stood up to welcome the last team, leaning against Kwangsoo.

“Here they come.”

“Let's go.”

“We only have a minute.” Kwangsoo told them.

“Hurry.” Sejeong and Jongmin cried out.

“Did you find the others?” Jaewook asked.

“Yes. Yours is the last one.” Jongmin answered. Sunmi suddenly fainted.

“Hurry! Sunmi’s fainted!” Kwangsoo screamed.

“Stick it on the left side.” Minyoung instructed.

“We have a minute left.”

“Hurry!”

“Sehun, on the left.” Minyoung instructed.

“Thank you, all!” Kwangsoo said, his conscience couldn’t bear it if they lost Sunmi because she was trying to protect him.

“Sehun, over here.” He called Sehun who went and took the girl in his arms.

“What do we do?” Kwangsoo asked, stepping up now that Sunmi was in Sehun’s arms.

“Shall we do it?” Sejeong asked.

“One, two, three.” Sejeong counted off and they hit the buttons together.

“Good.”

“We did it.”

“Come on, hurry.” Minyoung spoke to Haejin.

“Give us the antidote.” Jongmin said as he looked at Sunmi’s shallow breathing even when passed out.
