Everyone started talking about what they wanted to do tomorrow.

Sunmi looked at Minyoung and remembered the pictures she had taken of Jonghyun earlier.

“Ah! Minyoung-unnie. I almost forgot.” She said as she took out her phone and sent all the photos to Minyoung. Minyoung’s phone buzzed, making her look at Sunmi.

“Open it. You’ll love it.” Sunmi said with a grin. Minyoung opened Sunmi’s messages, Sejeong looked over her shoulder and blushed at the pictures of Jonghyun in a wetsuit.

“Where did you get this?” She asked the younger girl and Sejeong and Sunmi laughed at their Unnie’s expression.

“Earlier, Sehun-oppa and Jonghyun-oppa had to go diving to get the treasure.”  Sunmi told her. Minyoung closed the messages, not making it obvious that she was trying to save it for later when she noticed a text from an unknown number.

Hi, this is Hong Jonghyun. Is this Minyoung, the detective I rescued yesterday, by any chance?

Minyoung was shocked. How did he get her number? Sejeong and Sunmi noticed their Unnie’s expression change into shock and looked over her shoulder to see what she was looking at. They saw the text from Jonghyun.

“Oh, so he did have the guts to text you.” Sunmi mentioned with a grin.

“I… what?” Minyoung was so confused.

“You wanted his number, right? I gave him yours and told him to text you. Well, I didn’t exactly say it was your number but I guess I dropped enough hints throughout the day that he was able to guess.” Sunmi told her.

“I thought he wasn’t interested?” Minyoung asked.

“You met him while he was on a mission to find out more about the letter his mother left him. Now that he knows the truth, he can focus on other things now.” Sejeong advised and Sunmi nodded.

“I doubt he’d text if he wasn’t interested. I saved your name on his phone as ‘Future GF’. It’s your job to change that to ‘GF’ or whatever. I already did my part.” Sunmi shared and Minyoung blushed even more as Sejeong laughed.

“Ah, Sunmi, you’re good at this. I want my prince charming too.” Sejeong said and the three of them laugh.

“You should respond to him, unnie. Who knows, maybe you can bring him tomorrow.” Sunmi told her and Minyoung texted him back. Jaesuk gathered everyone’s opinion on what they wanted to do. At the end of the meeting, they agreed to go on a food trip, courtesy of Sejeong and Sunmi, so they looked up all the notable food establishments in Jeju. They then made a route and decided to incorporate three tourist spots that the others chose so that they don’t spend the whole day just eating. In the end, they decided to visit Loveland, just for laughs, Manjanggul Cave, and lastly Aqua Planet. After the plans were finalized, they agreed to meet at the same place the next day and separated into their respective lodgings. Sunmi had invited Sejeong to stay at her family’s vacation home in Jeju to save money and also to stay under one roof so they could both look out for each other.

“Good night, unnie. See you tomorrow.” Sunmi waved to Sejeong before she entered her room which was right in front of Sejeong’s room. She decided to shower to get clean and to wash away the day’s stress. Afterward, she crawled into bed and browsed through her phone before sleeping. In the middle of watching youtube videos, her phone buzzed, signaling a text from someone.

--
Fr: Oh Sehun

Are you asleep?
--

It was from Sehun.

--
To: Oh Sehun

Not yet, oppa. Why?
--

It wasn’t even a minute from when the message was sent when Sunmi’s phone started ringing.

“Hello? Oppa?” Sunmi answered in a confused tone. Hadn’t she just spent the day with Sehun? Why was he calling her? Was something wrong?

“Hey, Sunmi.” He sounded calm on the other line which made Sunmi relax a little bit; at least it wasn’t an emergency.

“What’s up, oppa?” She asked him.

“I just wanted to check up on you. I’m gonna be honest, I saw you cry when Jonghyun was reading his dad’s letter to us. I wanted to make sure you were fine.” Sehun admitted.

“Oh. I didn’t expect anyone to notice. I thought for sure I hid it well.” Sunmi trailed off in a sad tone this time.

“So why did you cry? Do you want to talk about it?” He asked her.

“Not really. I mean, I want to? But, I don’t know how to put it into words, though.” Sunmi told him.

“I’ll be listening.” It was all Sehun said. Sunmi decided to open up.

“Well, you know how I’m adopted, right? I just can’t help but think about what-ifs, you know? Like, did my parents have a choice when I was put into the foster system? Are they still alive right now? Did they love me? Those types of questions. The questions make me feel guilty because I always feel like I shouldn’t need to know the answers anymore. My Appa and Eomma have given me a new life. They gave me everything I could ever need and more. Every time I think about my real parents, people I don’t know, people I don’t remember, people I don’t have any sort of memories with, I feel like it’s unfair to the people who have provided everything for me and have given me their 100% starting from when I came into their lives.” Sunmi vented.

Hearing the rich man’s letter to Jonghyun, really hit home for Sunmi. Hearing him say that his greatest treasure was his love for his son and lover, that he was sorry, and that he never forgot them. They were things Sunmi wanted to know about her birth parents. She knew her Appa could probably track them down, whether they be dead or alive. But, she didn’t want her parents to question themselves on why she was curious about her birth parents. She didn’t want to hurt them. Before she knew it, Sunmi was crying again but she was able to pull herself together by taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.

“I wish I talked to you about this in person.” Sehun suddenly said.

“Why?” Sunmi asked.

“So that I could at least hold you while you cry.” He said which caused Sunmi to cheer up and laugh a little.

“You sound so different over the phone and in real life.” Sunmi admitted.

“What do you mean?” Sehun asked.

“I don’t know. You’re more expressive, I guess?” Sunmi told him.

“You don’t think I’ll be able to say these words right in front of you?” Sehun asked her.

“No.” Sunmi honestly answered and there was silence on the other line before Sehun sighed.

“You’re right, I can’t. I don’t know what to say whenever I see you in front of me. So, for now, I hope you’re fine with answering my calls.” Sehun told her.

That had been something that he had made a habit of doing every day after their hangout lunch with Sejeong. They would talk about the most random topics and their calls usually lasted at least 30 mins. It had become some sort of bedtime routine with him for the last month, except for last night when she told him Sejeong was sleeping over at her house. Tonight though, she just didn’t expect him to still call even after they spent the whole day together.

“You know these have become part of my night routine. I just didn’t expect a call today seeing as we spent it together.” Sunmi told him.

“There were a lot of things I couldn’t say to you. You don’t know how scared I was when you decided to play the hero and cut all the wires to that bomb.” Sehun told her.

“I’m sorry I worried you.” She told him and he was silent for a bit.

“It’s late and we had a long day. You should go to sleep.” He told her after a while.

“You sleep as well.” She told him.

“Good night, Sunmi.”

“Good night, Sehun-oppa. See you tomorrow.” She said as she ended the call with a smile. She plugged her phone into the charger and made sure it was charging before she set it on the nightstand and she fell asleep.

-- A Safe Location Recommended by K--

Everyone was already gathered at the place K asked them to meet in, last night. It was very early in the morning but they wanted to make the most of the day because K let them know that he had prepared a dinner boat party for them as well. They had to be at the docks by 6:00 PM so they started their day early. The last person to arrive was Jongmin.

“Is everyone ready for today’s adventure?” Jaesuk asked and everyone cheered. They got into the car and started heading for Somerset Brunch Cafe to have breakfast and then to Loveland, which was the farthest tourist site on their itinerary. Loveland was a Rated-R sculpture park and they decided to go there for laughs. It wasn’t really anything serious. This time, Jaewook was driving the car with Jongmin in the passenger’s seat. The girls were in the second row with Sejeong sitting behind Jongmin and Minyoung behind Jaewook, putting Sunmi in the center. The other three guys were in the back, Kwangsoo behind Sejeong, Jaesuk behind Minyoung, with Sehun in the middle.

“You didn’t ask Jonghyun-oppa to come, unnie?” Sunmi asked Minyoung.

“I did. But he didn’t respond after I told him where we were going.” Minyoung told her with an embarrassed smile.

“Maybe he’s waiting for you there.” Sunmi mentioned.
