PROLOGUE / Part One.
For your eyes only (I show you my heart)
Taeyeon watched her father dragging her younger sister by the roots of her brown hair, throwing her against the hard wall.
It was sickening and infuriating, but all she could do was cower like a rabbit in a corner.
Defend her.
Shield her.
Protect her from your father’s cruel hands.
She always whispered those words to herself, but she never did, not even once.
Because Taeyeon was a coward, and scared of their terrible father.
“You’re nothing but a shame, and an absolute embarrassment to our family.” Mr Son kicked Seungwan on her stomach. “You’re always a disastrous klutz whenever we have guests. Can’t you behave like a normal person in front of them even for once?”
“I’m sorry, father.” Ten year old Seungwan clutched her small tummy, not daring to meet her father’s burning gaze.
“You’re sorry, huh?” The man yelled as he crouched down, and grabbed the back of his daughter’s hair, her braids now completely ruined.
“I’m so sorry. I truly am.” The child stammered as she trembled in fear.
“No, stupid brat, you shouldn’t be sorry for being a klutz. You should be sorry for being born instead.” Mr Son hissed, pure malice radiating in his cruel eyes. “Ah correction, you should be sorry for existing in this world. You have no idea how ugly the world is because you’re in it.”
At the mention of that, the fourteen year old Taeyeon felt a pang in her heart.
