Wandering

Subconscious Love

Jongin stood outside of the school building trying to fight his emotions. His eyes were blurry as he blinked away his tears. The air supply he had seemed to be running out as his chest rose and fell harshly. With trembling hands, he held himself up on the wall and looked into the front doors of the school. Baekhyun and Chanyeol were making their way to him. Both boys carried a worried look upon their faces.

At that moment, the boy, who was nearly having a panic attack, made a rash decision. Jongin ran down the steps and off the campus. His feet carried him a long way from the school. He was now in downtown Seoul. Jongin slowed his feet and tried to catch his breath. Looking around the town, he smiled.

Finally, some freedom.

The boy strolled around the town taking in all the sights and smells. He has never been to a place that was this huge. So many cars whizzed by on the empty streets. In a few hours, however, the streets will soon be backed up by traffic. The food stands created a delicous scent all throughout the town. Many of the stands were busy with those who were on lunch break and those who spent their day off walking around.

As the student walked around the town mindlessly, he noticed a little cafe. He went into the place and breathed in the scent of the store. He slowly walked up to the counter.

"Welcome to Feel Good Cafe, may I take your order?" a short, pale man asked. His name tag read Min Yoongi.

"H-Hello. May I g-g-get a green tea?" Jongin stuttered a little.

The barista nodded and immediately started making it. "It will take about five minutes. What is your name?"

Jongin nodded as he gave the man his name, paid for the drink, and sat at a table looking around. His nerves were still on edge as he continued to drink in his small bit of freedom. He needed all he could to make sure his head cleared and to ensure his memories stayed in the back of mind.

During the wait, just  as his nerves began to die down, the boy's mother walked into the cafe. Jongin hid his face as best as he could. Once he thought he had good coverage, the barista called his name. He serveyed the area in a panic and noticed his mom was on her phone. He quickly ran up to the counter and accepted the drink. Then he left in a flash.

Jongin strolled through the park sipping his tea. His eyes wandered aimlessly as he took in the beatiful green scenery. His feet softly fell on the winding, gray stone path. His eyes were drawn to the sight of a shallow pond in the park. There was a bench, which sat the edge of the path, near the pond.

Walking toward the pond, he ignored the bench and sat in front of the small bit of water. He put his drink beside his leg and removed his socks and shoes. Rolling up the bottoms of his slacks, he dipped his feet in the water and leaned his head back. The water was warm and soothing. The way the sun reflected off the soft green-gray waves made it have a comforting sparkle.

Sipping his tea, the student began kicking his feet in the water. Childish laughter errupted from his lips as drops of water continuously splashed.

It has been soooooo long.

Jongin could not remember the last time he felt joy out of something so simple. Amused by the action, he continued to kick up the water and watch it fall back into the pond.

Taking the last few sips of his drink, the male removed his feet from the water and walked over to a trash can. On the way, he stepped on a rock that was almost the size of his palm. He cried out in pain a little and picked it up continuing his short lived journey to the garbage. Walking back to the indention he made in the plush grass, his eyes examined the rock. He sighed as he sat and clenched the small stone in his hand.

Let's try this method. Mr. Lee knows what he is talking about.

Jongin shrugged and grabbed marker from his backpack, which he left on his back. Writing a simple thing on the rock, he let his negative feelings surface.

He spoke soft words to the rock.

"You have caused me so much trouble. I'm sick of the problems you give me. As hard as it will be, I will try to forget you." He sighs. "I refuse to let you drag me down even more. I can't let you affect me anymore. So here is goodbye. I need to move on."

Jongin squeezed the rock and threw it into the water watching the small splash. A small weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He felt a little more happiness inside himself. A smile grew on his face.

The student put his feet back into the water and watched it again feeling much calmer.

*      *      *

Roaming around the city at a slow steady pace, Jongin was enjoying his day. He was glad he skipped class. He had not felt this clear minded in his life.  A smile was still touching his face.

As he walked by some stores, he passed one that made him stop and walk back to it. His knees went weak with excitement as he entered the place. It was his one guilty pleasure.

So many video games!

He grinned as he went to the coin machine and converted five dollars into quarters. Walking over to the space invaders game, he put four of those quarters in and began to play. With the one dollar he put in, he got two chances for playing. Once he finished playing that game he moved on to a different one.

He put two dollars into a racing game. The eager gamer got to do four races. Winning each race, he cheered with pure bliss. He was charged with so much excitement when he won the last race. It was the hardest and longest one in the game.

Pacing around the arcade, Jongin was looking for the perfect game to spend his last eight quarters on. Once he found it, he immediately dived into the game. It was like Mortal Kombat. He got a chance to have four battles. Picking his character, which was an overly buff lady dressed in purple, he began to fight. He won the first two battles with ease. On his third battle, it was a bit harder. He almost lost.

On the third round of the last battle, it was a tie between him and his computerized opponent. The concentrated student lost all awareness of his surroundings as he focused on the game hardcore. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around his waist as a person squealed. Jongin jumped and yelped a little. Then he lost the battle. He turned to the supposed-to-be stranger with a puppy-like pout. Then his jaw dropped.

"S-Seokjin?" he asked confused.

"Jongin!" the male squealed. "How is my favorite cousin?"

The boy stared in shock. He has not seen the older male since he was about eight. The older male used to babysit him.

"I-I'm okay.....I guess."

"You still clam up. Always keeping those feelings locked away."

Jongin laughed as Seokjin poked his nose.

"Why aren't you in school?" Jongin shrugged to answer the male. "You know you need to get an education." The male was scolding the young boy.

"Just couldn't stand it today."

The male nodded. "Wanna come to my place to catch up on old times?"

Jongin nodded. Both boys left the small building and entered the cousin's car. They were off to reminisce.
