Jonghyun Visits 6

I'm a Goner, Somebody Catch My Breath

Jonghyun shuffles a deck of cards, “I have a new game. I just learned it. You match pairs and ask for cards. If the person doesn’t have the cards you want, they tell you to go away.” Kibum sits down next to Jonghyun on the couch. Key hands his book over to Jonghyun, “my ghost slept over last night.”

Jonghyun trades the cards for the journal, “oh, where is he now?”

Kibum drops a couple cards mid-shuffle, “I don’t know. He was gone when I woke up.”

Jonghyun flips through the pages of the book, “Is he always gone when you wake up?”

Key picks up the cards and slides them back into the deck, “not always, but usually. He’s an early riser for a ghost … or are all ghosts that way?”
Jonghyun’s eyes make their way down the written pages, “I wouldn’t know.” He stops after the second entry to flip back to another page, “what is Entry 21 about?”

Kibum puts down the deck of cards, “I remembered a dream.”

“Oh?” Jonghyun shuts the book to give Key his full attention.

Kibum leans off to one side to rest against the couch, bashful, “it’s kind of weird … and embarrassing.” Key brings up both of his feet onto the cushions of the couch. He crosses his legs, “I … was . It was raining. There was one dim light showing what was directly around me. Everything else was dark. It was just me and Minho. Minho was crying. I think he was doing something to me, but I couldn’t really see it. He was saying something, but I couldn’t hear him. I wanted to hug him and tell him to stop crying, but I couldn’t move. I jumped out of bed trying to hug him.”

Jonghyun nods while re-opening the book, “that is very interesting.”

Kibum places his hands in his lap, “that’s it?”

Jonghyun flips a page, “were you expecting something else?”

Key glares at Jonghyun, “yes, I thought you could give me some answers if I told you about my dreams.”

Jonghyun presses his lips together as he continues to read, “… The purpose of dreams has been theorized greatly. It is said dreams are your subconscious trying to tell you something. Dreams can also be memories or activities being played over.”

Kibum spreads the cards out on the coffee table, “I was in the rain?”

Jonghyun laughs while turning the page, “well dreams aren’t always exact. Your mind tends to enjoy itself when it can. Have you thought of the possibility that it wasn’t actually raining?”

Key’s eyebrows furrow, “there was water falling on me.”

Jonghyun puts down the book, “yes, but you also said it was too dark too see anything else. Who’s to say you were even outside? You mentioned being . Why would you be outside?”

Kibum picks out a card, “I don’t know. I told you it was a weird dream.” Key tries to think back, but only remembers what’s already been said.

Jonghyun gathers up all the cards, “shall we play?” Key nods. Jonghyun deals the cards, five cards to each player.

Kibum picks up his cards and looks them over, “now what?”
Jonghyun fixes the cards, “put down all your pairs.”

Key puts down two pairs, “now what?”

Jonghyun drops a pair of aces, “ah, you got a good hand. Are you cheating?” Kibum laughs while shaking his head.

Key glances at his card before placing it face down between his legs, “now what?”

Jonghyun pouts at his cards, “now you ask me for any card you need. Were you not listening to me earlier?”

“I was. Do you have a seven?” Kibum asks cutely.

Jonghyun shakes his head, “no, go away.”

Key bursts into laughter, “what am I supposed to do now?”

Jonghyun points at the deck, “pick up some cards, don’t stop until you have a pair.”

Kibum picks up five more cards before receiving a pair, “Jonghyun, have I told you about this dream already?”

Jonghyun looks up from his cards, “you have. You also asked me what it meant.”

Key watches Jonghyun place a pair of two’s on the pile of pairs, “do you know what the dream means?”
Jonghyun looks back at Kibum waiting for him to take his turn, “I don’t interpret dreams. I once told you what your dream was…” Kibum stares at Jonghyun hoping he'll finish his statement.

“And?” Key asks.

“I learned to let you come to your own conclusions,” Jonghyun sighs, “Understand this Key, this dream isn’t the one you want to focus on. You’ll have plenty more dreams. None of them will have the answers you want, but this one … this one is one best left forgotten.”

Lovlies, sorry about not posting yesterday. You guys left me so many comments X3 I was so happy. You guys all took the time to comment :D I like that you guys are all catching different stuff. After the last chapter chair text me, she told me she has a sneaking suspicion that Jinki is an authority figure of some sort. Can I ask what you think all the characters are? If Skytime is willing to answer i'd also like to know. I haven't heard from you in a while. All of you guys are amazing. Please, tell me what you think so far.

Just one more question! Why were 'Minho' and Jinki always saying that they had to leave?

Moveslikeshinee, yes he was Minho the whole time. Jinki was Minho's (who is Key) co-worker and friend. 'Minho' couldn't shower with Key because of his injury. He would've needed to cover it before getting wet. That man was the guy who Key when he was in the psychiatric facility. The room number Key had for that place was seven.
