For everyone

Infinite Secret Santa 2014

Prompt: Sunggyu pretending to be santa because he believes Sungjong is still young and naive.

Pairing: Sunggyu/Sungjong

I’ll be for Santa

I – I really like you”

Sunggyu and Sungjong knew each other since they were young. They had met on one big party around the neighborhood that the adults would throw on very year around Christmas for everyone. While the parents and other neighbors would drink and talk, the kids would be playing, laughing and enjoying their time together. There were different types of food on a table with drinks for the kids and adults and on another there were cookies and little cupcakes that would be given to everyone right after the big dance was finished. The huge hall was decorated with pretty yet delicate snowflakes simulating falling snow in the warm place and white lights giving it a nice atmosphere to the present people. At their first meeting, the older of the two was very awkward with the other kids, not sure how to approach or what to say to them since he wasn’t used to have children around his age to play with living all his short life surrounded of people much older than he was.

When Sungjong noticed this, he immediately ran all wrap up with the winter coat his mother made him wear towards Sunggyu and made sure to include the older in every game the other kids played and made sure he was comfortable around the others. By the time the party ended and the children were saying their goodbyes to each other, little Sunggyu and Sungjong were already best of friends, or at least that’s the story their parents always tell. As the time passed slowly the older learned to opened up more to others and got closer to the younger which lead him to be overly clingy towards Sungjong (not that he mind on the first place). He would happily follow the younger around the park like a puppy not wanting to lose his close friend to the more fun kids.

Not that the younger had a problem staying inside and read books with the older since he knew that was what he liked to do the most besides eating blueberries; but Sunggyu would always tell him he didn’t mind going outside and play. In the end the younger one would try to compromise and go out and play but bring some books with them to read while they take a breather, to say that Sunggyu was happy with that arrangement was an understatement. They could spend their days happily like that, playing then reading and eating blueberries.

Sunggyu was ten and Sungjong seven, when the oldest learned the horrible news that not kid would like not learn- there wasn’t such thing as Santa. The way he heard the statement wasn’t one of the best ways either. You would think that his parents had sit with him and show him that old story of how many years ago someone really went around giving toys to kids, but not Sunggyu. The little boy was minding his own business when he heard his mother saying how he was getting old for all that Santa bid.

He was devastated, heartbroken, confused and shocked, young Sunggyu didn’t want to understand nor listen to anything his parents wanted to explain him. How it possible was that parent would lie like that to him, - to all the kids he knew and probably all over the world. Sunggyu felt like a little piece of his heart broke and simply couldn’t take the news the right way and cried, in his innocent mind they all had been deceived and not taken seriously when they had written all those letters to Santa.

Many other emotions and thoughts started to invade his little mind that he couldn’t help it and cried so much that night that his parents couldn’t understand how this had affected their only son to the point they couldn’t get him to stop crying until he feel asleep with exhaustion. Little did they know he wasn’t crying because he learned that one of the most important things of this childhood was a lie or that they had keep this from him all this time. No, he was crying because eventually the adults will have to tell his younger friends; more importantly, they had to tell Sungjong which in his mind was the most pure and innocent child of them all.

In Sunggyu’s eyes little Sungjong shouldn’t have to pass such heartache and should always be smiling that sweet smile of his that would light up a room and not have his illusions crushed like his were. Thus Sunggyu, as the oldest and most responsible hyung of them both decided to protect the small ball of sunshine from the dark truth.

So for the next two years Sunggyu would make sure none of the grownups would go to the younger children and tell them anything that could make the holidays sour for them. By the third year he already made some nice hyung he knew from his music class call the house of the younger kids, asking their parents if it was okay beforehand and tell them how good they had been the whole year and what they would like as presents. Before he noticed, for the last couple of years he did everything he could with the little help of his older friends to make it perfect for the kids. From planning different games to go as far as helping getting what the kids wanted. As the years went by it became somewhat a tradition to invent new games and make little gifts for the other and later to do the same for his closest friends.

On the house parties Sunggyu would wait for the younger kids (aka Sungjong) to be tired out enough not to recognize him and dress as Santa and tell Sungjo- them how they been good to their families and friends and give them they small goody bag as a preview of what will be waiting for them the next day. There was no doubt that little Sungjong bag would have some extra things like candy and cute notes praising him to no end.

He was satisfied every time he saw the pure happiness on them while the adults fined his actions adorable and would always praise his enthusiasm of the holidays with pets on his head and little treats. It went like that a couple of years more, he would try to do his best and the grownups would let him be. Everything was perfect and nice. Sunggyu did what he thought it was his mission and always made it fun and enjoyable for everyone.

That’s it, until a very special day where everything in Sunggyu’s life changed or so he thought been his dramatic self. He was exactly seventeen and Sunggjong was fifteen. They were in their favorite tea shop talking as usual or how the older liked to call it “their special bonding time”, telling each other what was new and their plans for the rest of the week when the younger suddenly asked. “Are you going to dress up as Santa for the kids this year too?” Sunggyu was momentarily confused (doesn’t that bring back some memories) at the question.

Sure he knew Sungjong was old enough to tell, to understand what he did every year for the last couple of years, yet he couldn’t accept the simple fact that Sungjong wasn’t the cute little chubby cheeked kid that didn’t knew anything of the world anymore- okay maybe he was cute but still. “Wha- what are you talking about Sungjonie?” The younger give him this why you are acting silly kind of look and spoke again, “you know like you used to do when we were kids, before we would go to sleep”. Sunggyu opened his eyes as wide as he could with a panic expression not sure what to say. Seeing the face of his hyung rapidly Sungjong smile and said “No need to be shy, you always looked cute with the Santa suit. Plus I and the other kids loved when you would sing us Christmas carols”. In a daze, the older nodded uncertain to what exactly he nodded at and tried to change the conversation asking how he was doing in school.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
… “So in short now you are traumatized because he always knew it was you? Is that it?”Woohyun, one of his closest friends asked. “You know you are overreacting right” his other equally close friend Dongwoo said. He glared at them both before hitting his head on the table with a groan. Sunggyu his friends were in a small café near their school hearing the elder cries of disappear while eating cake and hot chocolate with the plus of strawberries because they were regular and for some reason favorites of the owner. “Shut up, both of you” Woohyun and Dongwoo snickered to themselves watching their friend throw himself in the table dramatically. “Well what you expect, I mean sure you were a bit on the chubby side…” replied Woohyun “And well he looked more like a stuffed hamster than an actual old man” contribute Dongwoo just as exited. The oldest looked up with a displeased face and said “Ï wasn’t chubby you idiots, I just had big cheeks” Sunggyu said while unconsciously pouted and looked at them, right away the two younger ones laughed and said in unison “right HAD big cheeks”.
Before they could start with the teasing again, he said “that isn’t the point okay, the point is that Sungjong always knew after all I did and I couldn’t stop him from knowing at a young age about the Santa thing” Woohyun and Dongwoo give each other a knowing look and went at it again. “Aww do you know what does means my dear Dino friend?” “Oh yes of course” replied Dongwo when out of nowhere he hugged Sunggyu and said while rubbing his face with the elder’s cheek “Our baby Gyu gyu is in love and wanted to protect his dear love”. Sunggyu detached himself from Dongwoo and looked at his friends like they were completely gone crazy. “Wha- what the hell are talking about?! I’m not in love, I just wanted to take care of him cause him my best and closest friend!”
And he’s your most important person in the world right?” “Yes, wait no!” the two friends laughed at the fluster older; his face was almost as red as the strawberries he was eating. “No need to feel embarrassed, we know how much you like and care for him” said Dongwoo this time with a softer smile while petting in a caring way Sunggyu’s head. “Yeah plus look at the bright side, you can now dress as a y Santa just for him and with those legs of yours it might work just perfectly” Woohyun said wiggling his eyebrow while smirking. They could hear the faint “hey” from the older but no one paid any intention to it. “Now, now Hyun, Sungjong is too young and naïve for such thing”, “Exactly, thank you!-” before Sunggyu could say more Dongwoo continued “And he probably wouldn’t be into that stuff… yet” Sunggyu hit his head on the table once again not bothering with them anymore. “I hate you both, I hope you know that”. “Yeah, yeah and we love you too hyung” With that they spend the rest of the evening making fun of their friend and telling him ways of how he should confess his undying love to Sungjong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunggyu was getting ready for the Christmas party for the kids. This year the parents decided that the party would much shorter than usual so and he quoted “the youngsters can have fun of their own”. He sighed not wanting to admit he was still thinking of what he talked to Dongwoo and Woohyun; maybe they were right and he really liked Sungjong more than just a friend and that’s why he was going overboard with all of this. Okay fine he was pretty sure he always had liked him more than just a friend since day one but he didn’t needed those two to tell him something he already kinda sort of already knew.

Not that was necessary bad but what was he going to do now, confess like those cliché movies and wait for snow to suddenly fall too? He doesn’t think is a good idea especially with two guys lurking around ready to make fun of him. Also he was pretty sure Sungjong didn’t like him that way at all or at least he thought so, the younger haven’t shown signs of the contrary so he wouldn’t think otherwise. Sighing once again Sunggyu made his way to the bathroom to finish getting dressed knowing a headache was making its way with all the thinking he was doing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The party was going great as always with the kids running around asking “Santa” to sing more songs for them. Sunggyu couldn’t help but to always gave into their demands especially when they were so happy to see him there for them. By the time he was singing Rudolf’s song of what looked like the number one million, one of the moms told him to take a break and have a drink and some food. He complied and did as he was told and his way to the table he saw Sungjong talking to one of his friends laughing with them. Then the younger saw the other he excused himself and made his way towards the older.
Hi hyung, I can see the kids wore you out” he said smiling brightly as he picked a drink for himself, “Yeah but they are happy so is worth it”. Soon enough they started to walk to a less noisy area where they could talk more relaxed. Sunggyu noticed Sungjong had a plain but dressy black shirt with some matching black pants that could show his legs better. Looking at the younger talking about how the party was going and if he was having fun he couldn’t help but to wish he could walk holding his hand better and sit down their tree and kiss him fully on the lips, yet one little thing was stopping and that was his stupid brain.
No matter how much he wanted to do all this things with the younger, his brain kept telling him all the cons if he did confess and Sungjong didn’t felt the same. Slowing down he decided that he will do it right there and now and if things didn’t work out he could always run home to cry and stuff his face with ice cream.
Seeing his hyung stopped Sungjong turned around to ask what’s wrong when Sunngyu started to talk “Sungjonie I have something to tell you” the younger looked at the older concerned that something may had happened and he didn’t noticed. Sunggyu looked up with determination and at the same time scared and said it “I- I really like you, and I-“
Sungjong couldn’t help but to laugh a bit while Sunggyu curse under his breath knowing why music suddenly started playing. The older tried once again trying to make the atmosphere more serious “I really like you and even if you-“
Sunggyu was getting frustrated and was ready to kill someone when Sungjong walking straight to the older and while smiling he said “I’ll have you as my Christmas preset if that’s okay” before Sunggyu could say something else Sungjong put his arms around the older and bend him for a kiss. It was simple yet sweet in every way; Sunggyu smiled into the kiss and went for their second kiss with butterflies in his belly and the faint song that his middling friends left in the background.
End
