Meeting The Board for the second time was nerve-racking enough, but to ask them to accept someone else as the CEO for two months or so, made him even more edgy.

"What? Preposterous!"

"How do you expect us to accept that?"

"You have to reconsider."

Kai massaged his temples in frustration. Of course, he had to at least expect that almost every single one of these major shareholders to object.

"It's only for a certain period of time."

He tried reasoning as much as possible. Kai was still young, he was below the age of twenty five. It was only natural for The Board to distrust him.

"Still, it won't be the same." One of them voiced out.

Kai frowned and looked at him skeptically. "The same? I've only been here for a month." His forehead creased deeper. "There won't be much of a difference."

The tanned male continued to ramble on, handling protests after protests. He had to make sure that they would agree to let Taemin take up the position. He kept thinking of his wife. How he had so little time left if he were not to succeed in convincing her.

After approximately an hour or so, the protests and objections died down. So far, he was glad that he'd discussed with his brother of all the kinds of possible questions he might receive. Kai heaved a sigh as he sank deeper into his seat.

He turned to his right and gave his brother a vague smile. Kai looked back to the shareholders and eyed every single one of them.

"So. I've answered and given all the positive responses that would assure-"

"Wait."

Kai grumbled inwardly, and here he thought he was nearly done.

"I still have one more doubt."

Both Taemin and Kai looked to the direction of that one member of The Board they both despised.

Mr. Jung.

"If your brother were to hold two very important positions - CEO and COO - don't you really think that he will be able to carry the burden?" Mr. Jung inquired with a subtle smirk on his lips. "I mean, your father didn't want him to acquire the post of the CEO. There must be a valid reason."

The room buzzed with agreement as they turned to each other ; whispering and nodding amongst themselves as soon as their previous CEO's decision was brought up.

Kai shut his eyes and willed himself to not lose his temper. "Enough."

"Stop using my father's name as backup." He snarled once the room went silent. "I'm the CEO now, are you doubting my father's trust in me?"

Mr. Jung shook his head slightly, that smug smile still plastered on his face. "We're not doubting you or your father," he averted his gaze to the older sibling as he paused. "We're doubting your brother."

Kai stood up, fifty shades of red painted his face.

"Kai. Don't." Taemin warned in a voice that was only audible to his brother. "If you flare up now, your efforts will go down the drain."

Kai groaned slightly and sat back down. He tapped his foot as he tried so hard to hold back. "Why do you doubt him."

It came out rhetorically, but Mr. Jung still wanted to shoot back. "Simple. Your father- no, our previous President must've doubted your brother's ability, I assume."

Kai sneered. "You assume? You know nothing."

Mr. Jung pressed on. "Well, perhaps he was incompetent."

The room went dead silent, as the two shared a heated glare. The Board of Directors all fidgeted in their seats. Jung had definitely gone too far.

They continued doing so until Kai gave a snicker.

"Incompetent?" The tanned male sniggered even more. "You really know nothing."

Kai slowly got off his seat and dusted invisible dust off his suit. "Do you know when he started working - contributing - for Shinhwa Organisation?"

Mr. Jung cocked an eyebrow. "A year before you did, three years ago."

"Wrong."
