I was in Junghye’s room and I was reading the Gingerbread Man to her as she sat on my lap with a blanket that hovered over my back, creating a hollow cavern for Junghye. Jung kook sat beside me as he leaned on his palm sitting cross legged.
“Unnie?”
“Mm?”
“How were people born? Were we gingerbread man to?” I looked to Jung kook because the relevant answer to her question wasn’t appropriate for her age… and not that she’d understand.
“Why don’t you ask your dad?” She quickly got up from my lap, causing the blanket to slide off my back. She walked out of the room as she did what I asked. I turned to Jung kook and he continued to glance at me.
“Kids! Dinner is ready!” Mrs Jeon called out.
We were all sitting at the dinner table, except of Mrs Jeon who was getting the last batch of food, then suddenly Junghye popped up the question again.
“Dad? How were people born?”
“Hmm… You know Adam and Eve right? They made babies, then the babies turned to adults, the adults made babies then the babies turned to adults. And it keeps going!” Junghye looked at him in confusion as Jung kook and I chuckled. Junghye got out of her seat and went to her mother.
“Mum? How were people born?”
“First, before us, we were monkeys. Then slowly, they turned into humans and created us.” Junghye turned to her dad.
“Dad! You lied to me.”
“Aniya Junghye… your mum was talking about her side of the family.” The response from Mr Jeon filled the room with hysterical laughter. It was a good joke.
After dinner, I messaged Han Byul (I got the number from when I watched him during practice) saying I was sorry that I couldn’t make it.
Ani! It’s not your fault! Are you okay? I heard what happened.
Yeah… I’m fine. Just diagnosed with starvation is all.
Hehe ;) I’m sure plenty of cuisines will suit for your cure.
