Chapter 8
In Time You'll LoveDear Kibum,
Dinner was absolutely magical. For a while in the beginning, it was really awkward with the way we confined ourselves to small talk. Then the most bewitching tunes arose from the circle of musicians off to the side. The music seemed to push my body into action. It flowed through me and took control. Other couples got up to waltz, and I couldn't help but want to join them. It was the one time I actually had the courage to be more social, and it was incredible. After softly reddening your cheeks with my proposal, you accepted the offer and took my hand as I'd always dreamed of. We danced the night away together without any idiotic small talk to get in the way as it always did. We were silent as our bodies moved together as one, in sync with the music and the universe.
I can still hear your sweet giggles from when I twirled you around like a princess, then pulled you back close into my loving embrace. Your cheeks were as red as my rose bushes that night, and it was the most perfect image of you I'd ever seen. You were adorable, happy, and relaxed. This brought me the most joy in the world, because all I live for is your happiness.
We danced even as others left, never growing weary, never tiring of the same movements over and over. We just let time slip away. I believe this can be said of our love as well. Even as other marriages come and go, we'll still be there smiling at each other as always. Our love will never grow weary. We will never tire of each other, even when we're old men without much excitement left in our lives, because we've got a bond even stronger than marriage. Time doesn't exist with us, because as time passes nothing will change between us. We'll always have that powerful unspoken love that prevails over all misfortunes.
I found it funny how we hadn't noticed time at all until the restaurant's staff told us that it was closing time. When we looked around again we were the only couple left. After that was still just as magical. It was like a scene from a movie or a love story. You were shivering out in the cold, so I instantly handed over my jacket to you. Then we walked home together with my arm around your waist, rubbing your side to help keep you warm. Doesn't that sound like a love story been told a thousand times? Maybe we're reincarnates of the eternal lovers, those whose souls are always destined to fall in love, and share that love for all their days.
Did you feel the magic in the air that night too? It was as if the great force of the universe was pushing us together. I can only hope that you do, since it's likely I won't receive a letter from you any time soon. Minho seemed very upset when he saw us coming home with my arm around you. I'm deeply sorry for that. I hadn't meant to get you in trouble, but know that if he hurts you I'll kill him okay? I was about ready to kill him the moment I saw him that night for fear that he would take you away from me for good.
Can we go out for dinner again? I'll even pay this time. I tried to offer last time, but you insisted that it was you who owed me something. I found that statement a little amusing though, because I owe you everything. You have brought me happiness, peace, and a will to live these past couple months. For that, I owe you the world. Please consider my offer. That night was one I shall never forget probably even when I'm old with Alzheimer's, and I'd love more than anything to have more nights like that with you.
Love,
Jonghyun
