It was Wonwoo’s birthday. And Hanbyul swore she didn’t know what to do. She wanted to greet Wonwoo casually but she was too shy. She always froze in her spot whenever he was around.

It was the end of the day already and for the whole day, all Hanbyul thought about was Wonwoo’s birthday. She also thought about how he would smile when he thanks her. But she still couldn’t do it and it remained as a haunting thought for her.

Hanbyul peeked out of her classroom and caught sight of Wonwoo entering his classroom. Yes, Hanbyul and Wonwoo weren’t classmates and Hanbyul kind of hated it.

She returned to her room and relaxed her back against the wooden door. She felt her heart beating faster and faster. Would she be able to do it? She was not sure.

Hanbyul stepped out of the room, only to find herself in front of Wonwoo, blocking his way. When she realized this, her face turned red, redder than a ripe tomato.

“Excuse—“

“Happy birthday!”

Hanbyul inhaled meanwhile Wonwoo was shocked by the sudden greeting. After a few seconds of Hanbyul staring at the floor and Wonwoo staring at Hanbyul, the boy patted the lovesick girl’s head.

“Thanks, even the birthday boy forgets his birthday sometimes.”

Wonwoo was about to leave her but Hanbyul held his wrist for some reason.

“What?”

Hanbyul loosened her grip on him, shaking her head. Maybe she wasn’t able to say it after all.

“Nothing. I hope you have a happy birthday, Wonwoo-ssi. I hope you’ll have happier days to come.”
