Forget Me Not
I smiled, as I saw the name of the person calling me. “Hey,”
“Minyoung,” it was Key. “I miss you so much,”
“Me, too. How are you?”
“I’m fine, but not that fine, because you’re not here,” he said, and then laughed gently. “You?”
“Same,” I said, and then sighed. “I wish I can come back,”
“Yeah. I wish you can. Are you busy?”
“A bit. I’m helping my dad at the hotel,”
“Oh, I see. Just don’t get yourself stressed, okay? You don’t want to look ugly, right?”
I laughed gently. “Yes, sir! Anyways, how are Jjong and Hyorin?”
“Still on their honeymoon. I don’t know when they will be back,”
“I guess I should prepare their room. You know, just in case,” I told him, and then laughed gently.
Key laughed gently, too. “Yeah, I think you should. Anyways, I have a surprise for you,”
“Surprise?”
“Yes. I want you to close your eyes,”
“Okay,” I said, and then closed my eyes. “I wonder, what kind of surprise would this be when you’re in Kangwondo and I’m here in Seoul? I’m very curious,”
“You’ll see. Now, I want you to turn around,”
“Okay,” I said, and did what he told me to do.
“Open your eyes,”
I opened my eyes, and saw nothing.
I pouted. “Key, there’s nothing in here. I can’t see anything but the tall buildings here. Are you joking?”
“No, I’m not,”
“But I can’t see anything besides the tall buildings,” I said in a sad tone.
“You really can’t,” I can hear his voice from somewhere near me, getting clearer with every word, but I just ignored it. Maybe it was just part of my imagination, because I miss him so much.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Because it’s behind you,” I can really hear his voice, and this time, I know that it’s true. It wasn’t part of my imagination, but it was really him.
Tears of joy came out rushing from my eyes. I turned around, and saw him. He was standing in front of me with the warm smile that I love.
He laughed gently. “Surprise.”
