“Dang it,” N hissed, tossing his pillow across the room.

“What’s wrong?” Sehun asked, but the changeling knew that he had figured it out already.

“Why do ghosts never come when you call?” N sighed, falling back against his bed sheets.

“No idea,” Sehun admitted, “I think it might be distance. Like, the ghost you’re trying to call might be on the other side of the world. Ghosts can’t just poof about, they can travel about as fast as a werewolf or shifter from what I know.”

“So if the ghost I want to talk to is on the other side of the world,” N scowled, “he’ll take some time to show up.”

“Exactly,” Sehun nodded, “and that’s assuming that he isn’t doing something important right now.”

“Considering it’s Biho,” N sighed, “he’s probably doing something really important.”

“Yeah,” the young necro nodded, “he’s probably searching for stuff on the bad guys right now. We most likely aren’t going to see him again until he’s got something to tell us.”

“Or he could be trapped again,” N said after a moment of thought, “like before. A witch could have been called in to tie him to the place they killed him or hid his body or whatever.”

“Also true,” Sehun nodded again, “and it would be where his body is located. Most ghosts like to stay close to their remains. Once their bodies are completely gone they……….well, I don’t really know what happens then.”

“Why not?” N wondered, “does something bad happen or something?”

“The body normally acts like a tether,” Sehun explained, “it keeps them in one place. For the most part anyway. It’s like having a house. You can wander all about, but you always return to the house at the end of the day.”

“So once it’s gone,” N frowned, “they have no home?”

“I guess,” Sehun sighed, “I haven’t met any ghosts like that, but from what I’ve heard, most chose to cross over by that point. I mean, it takes a while for everything to just….be gone, so…….lot of time for a necro to help them. Even more time for their unfinished business, the reason their souls stuck around, to no longer be important.”

“Come again?”

“Important isn’t the right word,” Sehun replied, “more like………if your reason for sticking around was to deliver a message to someone……that someone is gonna die eventually. Once they die, the ghost can tell them themselves and…….no more unfinished business. Or if their reason is see their killer caught. Eventually, the guy would die or the case would be solved so………”

N nodded before a thought occurred to him.

“What about cremation?” he asked, “there’s no body then.”

“Now that I have no idea about,” Sehun sighed, “pretty sure ashes don’t decompose, so……..”

“The ghost could stick around forever if they wanted,” N finished, “and they’d always have a home to go to.”

“I guess.” Sehun shrugged before noticing the clock, “let’s get something to eat, alright? I missed lunch because of all the craziness today over the blood message in Sori’s room and now I’m super hungry.”

“I’ll see if Leo can make us something,” N smiled as the pair got up to pester Leo about cooking them something.
