Remember
Dark Lake Academy“What to do,” Ravi muttered, “what to do.”
He could not for the life of him figure out a way to free himself. Not without getting even more hurt then he already was. He really wanted to avoid more pain. Especially with the throbbing in his skull. It felt like his skull was splitting open, about to spill his brains out for the whole world to see.
Honestly, that might actually be less painful now that he thought about it. At least once that was over the pain would be gone.
Are you sure this will work?
Ravi froze, trying to figure out what the hell he’d just heard.
It…..it sounded like a woman. But she sounded like she was right there with him. But he was alone. He found himself wondering if hearing voices was a side effect of major head trauma.
I’m sure.
And he’ll forget everything forever?
Ravi let out a small whimper of pain as images started to flash before his eyes. Images that matched the voices he was hearing.
He could see three people. Two women and a man. One of the women……he thought she was a witch. She sure dressed like one. Well, she dressed in what Ken had told Ravi were ceremonial cloths that witches wore for special events or for some spell castings. Or just for fun.
The other woman and the man…….
….Ravi could swear that they looked…….they looked familiar.
And he realized that the images……they weren’t just something his brain had created out of thin air. They were memories. His memories.
Are you sure we should do this?
The woman, a shifter Ravi realized, turned to the man, also a shifter. She looked as upset about the whole thing as the man, but while he was doubting what they were doing…….she was determined to see this thing through.
We need to, dear. We need to do this for Wonsik. This….this is the only way to keep him safe.
I know, but……but are we sure he’ll be ok? That he’ll be loved and taken care of?
Wonsik felt the tears starting to well up in his eyes as he realized that these were his parents. But this also confused him because they looked nothing like the parents he remembered.
He remembered them so clearly. He remembered the last time he saw them, how he’d begged them not to go and everything.
But now……those memories felt wrong.
When he tried to recall them, they were…….weird.
Something was just…….off about them. He couldn’t figure out exactly what it was though. It was just something.
I’ll do my best to ensure that he grows up safe for as long as possible. But know that I cannot promise that this spell will last forever.
Ravi turned his attention back to this memory of the two shifters and the witch.
What do you mean?
What could undo it?
Another spell caster for starters. One far stronger them me. But only if they know what to look for which….well, your son will never know about this, so…….
So how could anyone else.
Head trauma could also undo my magic. If the injury is bad enough, his own mind could unlock these memories that you wish to hide from him.
I see.
It’s a risk we’ll just have to take.
Ravi frowned, trying to piece this whole thing together and understanding nothing.
Why would his parents, assuming that was who these people were, lock away some of his memories? What reasons could they have? What was their end goal? And if they then gave him away…..
Ravi didn’t understand any of this.
It took more memories flooding his mind for him to come to that understanding.
He remembered the field he often took Sori to in dreams.
He remembered that he and his parents had gone there a lot. His mother had told him it was special to her and his father, something about where they met and where they were married. Ravi hadn’t understood back then, he was too young. All he knew was that it was pretty and he liked it.
He remembered his older brother.
He recalled how his brother seemed so nice, so kind. But there was always something……off about him. Something that made Ravi shy away from him. His parents seemed to have the same feeling, but they tried to ignore it. He was their child and they loved him.
And then something…….something happened.
Ravi couldn’t recall exactly what had happened, but he knew it had something to do with him and his brother and lots of pain. After that……after that his parents started acting different around his brother. They seemed……they seemed scared. Of his brother.
And then they took him to the witch that sealed away his memories. That witch….she must have given him to the people he called his parents. Or was that all made up? Ravi didn’t know anymore. He didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t.
But he did know one thing.
He know knew what his friends had recently found out.
Jihoo was his older brother.
A/N: so Ravi now knows about Jihoo being his big bro. and no one had to tell him, he found out on his own.
