Realizing Feelings

Dark Lake Academy

N really had no idea what he was doing. Suho had told him to grow some wings, but how the heck did you grow wings? Clearly, N didn’t know or else he’d have a pair of dragon wings.

“Maybe we should rest?” Suho suggested, realizing that N was too frustrated to get anywhere now.

“Why is it so hard?” N sighed, dropping to the ground and looking up at the passing clouds, “why can’t I just do one simple thing with my powers when I want do use them?”

“Maybe you aren’t ready?” Suho said, taking a seat beside him, “Maybe you need to be able to access all the supernatural blood inside of you.”

“I can access all of it, though,” N argued.

“Not true,” Suho pointed out, “you’ve used your werewolf blood, your shifter blood, your warlock blood, and your dragon blood. Oh, and your fae blood. You still have to access your necromancer blood, your vampire blood, your fallen blood, and your nightmare blood.”

“Question,” N asked, “with my fallen blood and vampire blood.”

“Ask away,” Suho smiled, “I’ll try to answer as best I can.”

“Will I grow wings that I can’t get rid of?” N asked, “Or start drinking blood? I mean, the drinking blood thing is kind of gross to me still.”

“I know,” Suho patted the other’s shoulder, “the drinking blood thing is gross to a lot of people. Even Tao and D.O had problems with it at first. Xiumin was fine ‘cuz he’d grown up with it being part of his life.”

“How do they drink it?” N asked, “Doesn’t it taste like, well, blood?”

“Xiumin says it tastes like fruit punch to a vampire,” Suho explained, “I think it has to do with how vampire taste buds have evolved or something. Never thought to ask or had much interest in digging deeper.”

“Right,” N nodded, “so I should only be concerned if someone starts bleeding and it smells like juice.”

“Yeah,” Suho nodded, “but I don’t know if you’ll drink blood. We probably aren’t going to know until you access your vampire blood.”

“What about the wings?” N questioned, “same deal? We only know till it happens?”

“I guess,” Suho shrugged, looking a bit sad that he couldn’t be more helpful to the other boy, “I wish I could help more.”

“It’s fine,” N smiled, “you’ve helping so much already, you shouldn’t feel bad about not being able to help me with this. It’s something I just have to find out on my own.”

“You sound like Sori when you say it like that,” Suho joked, “just with the ‘find out on your own’ part. That’s totally something she would say.”

“Yeah,” N laughed lightly, “but there should be a silent ‘don’t ask about my personal life’ at the end.” Suho nodded, laughing along.

“She tells you a lot more than the rest of us, though,” the dragon said once his laughter had died, “she trusts you a lot.”

“I trust her a lot, too,” N said.

“You more than trust her,” Suho smiled slightly, “you like her.”

“Of course I do,” N rolled his eyes, “I wouldn’t spend so much time with her if I hated her.”

“You know what I mean,” Suho rolled his eyes, “you like her like her, N. You know it and I know it, so just admit it.”

“I like her,” N finally nodded, “but that doesn’t mean anything if she likes someone else. She used to date Kris, right? Maybe she still has feelings for him.”

“Trust me,” Suho patted N’s shoulder before getting up, “she doesn’t like Kris that way. I’m not sure if she ever did to be honest. She loves Kris like a brother now though, I know that for sure.”

“What if she likes someone else then?” N said, “what about Chanyeol? Or Luhan?”

“Chanyeol is too into Lina to consider anyone else,” Suho replied, “and if she liked Luhan she would have made a move by now.”

“Still doesn’t mean she likes me,” N sighed sadly, “I can’t tell her unless I know. I can’t tell her and mess up our friendship if she doesn’t feel the same.”

“I see your point,” Suho nodded, “but know that you have me on your side. Kris, too.”

“Kris knows?” N tired not to groan, “oh god.”

“He’s not going to kill you or anything,” Suho laughed, “but if you do get together with Sori, he’ll threaten you. you know, the whole ‘if you hurt my sister they’ll never find the body’ talk.”

“So he doesn’t mind?” N clarified.

“He totally supports the Nori ship,” Suho laughed, “he even came up with the name.”

“Cool,” N smiled slightly, “we’re Nori.”

The pair started laughing at the couple name and the fact that Kris had been the one to come up with it. Eventually their laughter died and Suho announced that it was time to go back to training.

“Hyung,” Ravi sighed, sitting down beside Lay, “you look tired, maybe you should sleep.”

“I’m fine,” Lay smiled, trying to hide his yawn, “don’t worry about me.”

“But you’ve been working with Leo hyung all last week,” Ravi frowned, “and now you’re training me. All at night. You need to get some sleep.”

“Trust me,” Lay said, “I’ll be fine. If I wasn’t, do you really think that Sori would let me do this? I’m getting enough sleep, Ravi.”

“Fine,” Ravi sighed before getting up, “what do you want to train me in tonight?”

“Sori’s working on your hand-to-hand combat skills, right?” Lay asked, getting a nod from the younger shifter, “then I’ll focus on just your transformations. What animals have you shifted into?”

“Just normal things,” Ravi explained, “cat, dog, bear, horse, and other mammals like that.”

“No fish or birds?” Lay asked, getting another nod, “then we’ll start with that.”

Lay decided to start with the less tricky of the two; birds. As he told Ravi, changing into a fish required the shifter to already be in the water – or at least very close to it – because once in for form of a fish they could only breathe like a fish. The only problem with shifting into a bird was you had to learn to fly. Since they weren’t close to the lake, they had to go with bird transformations.

“Good,” Lay smiled slightly when Ravi finished changing into a hawk, “now comes the hard part. Actually flying.”

This is when the problems happened.

“Hyung!” Ravi called, shifting back into his human form, “are you alright?”

Just as Lay had started shifting into a bird himself, he’d collapsed. Naturally, this caused Ravi to panic. He had no idea what was wrong or what he could do to help. The small bright side was that Lay wasn’t out cold, he’s legs had simply given out from under him and he had gone down.

“I’ll be fine,” Lay sighed, “but I think you were right about me needing to rest.”

“What do you mean?” Ravi asked, “You’re just tired? You’re sure that’s it?”

“I’m sure,” Lay nodded, using Ravi to pull himself up, “I’ve been working too hard and my energy levels are low. I just need to get some rest. I think I might even skip class tomorrow.”

“Let’s get you back to the dorm,” Ravi sighed, relieved that there wasn’t anything majorly wrong with the older shifter, “the sooner you get back, the sooner you can sleep. Besides, I don’t think you can walk by yourself.”

“Shut up,” Lay joked before turning serious, “don’t tell Sori, alright? She’ll get upset.”

“I know,” Ravi nodded, “she’s stressed out enough with everything else.”

“We all are,” Lay frowned, “none of us know what’s going to happen next, how long we have before the next attack. We’re all pushing ourselves and it’s not good.”

“Sori and Kris are pushing themselves a lot more than everyone else,” Ravi nodded, “I think that’s because two of the attacks were against them.”

“Maybe,” Lay agreed, “we need to keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t over work themselves.”

“Right,” Ravi nodded, “I’ll watch Sori, you watch Kris. Ok?”

“Ok,” Lay nodded, smiling slightly at the fact Ravi had decided to watch over Sori. the younger’s crush on her was so obvious. Lay was silently cheering for him.

Chapter 134: ...damn. It's finally over, isn't it? Well, it's not really over, considering there's going to be a sequel and the cliffhanger, but..
Well anyway, it's been a wonderful journey reading this story. So much has happened and I can't really believe this story is now finished, haha.
