Jinah shoved Youngho away and grabbed his collar tightly with her two hands. The guy was a nuts case.

“Don’t. Put. Luhan. In. This.” She glared at him as she emphasized each word at him.

Jinah was expecting him to laugh at her or fight back, but to her astonishment, he didn’t. Instead, he sighed and put his hands on top of hers.

“I know things that you don’t. I know more than you do. The people you think that cares for you, actually don’t. The people you think you can trust, are the people who will hurt you.”

She was searching for a mocking glint in his eyes, but failed to find for one. His eyes looked so sincere, but she knew better. Something was off with him. She shoved him away and he just stood right in front of her.

“How can I trust someone who gave me nothing but pain through all these years? Luring me to a gang, telling me that I would be happy and my future would be better. Training me to fight, use the knife and a gun. Teaching me how to be a low-life thief and a criminal. Tell me, Youngho, how can I believe someone who wanted me to suffer the moment I left the gang?” She felt a sudden rush of emotions as she recalled how Youngho found her, and the days he spent with the gang.

They were called ‘The Red Rancor.’ The name itself was already bad – it was corny and the meaning of the name was nothing but bitterness and ill-will. It had been just months after her parents’ death when she was just like any other teenager walking down the street. She was sitting alone at the park and watching a group of rowdy teenagers play at the place that was meant for the children. One of them caught her looking and it was Youngho. She quickly looked elsewhere and the second thing she knew, he slung his arm on her shoulders. He asked her if she wanted to join them play and she hesitantly said yes. From then on, she always met with them at the park and found out how those kids’ lives were messed up as well. Some of them were orphans, abandoned by their parents and some ran away from home. That was where she met Xinyi and Kevin. Apparently, Xinyi was a rebel child unlike her sister. Kevin’s parents abandoned him when he was little. She was then recruited into the gang. They would always wear a mask to cover their identities whenever they steal, do pick-pocketing and beat their rival gangs. Stealing sent all of them to college. Yes, it wasn’t her relatives that sent her to college. She was alone by herself. It was during college when they met the current member of The Reds. They knew about their past, but still accepted and trusted them. The Reds showed them the light they needed – the light that they didn’t see that led them to seeing nothing but darkness. The three of them decided to leave the gang and they were hazed so badly in return. That was the ritual – a brutal and merciless hazing. All the pain was worth it as they found hope and life, but the darkness

Chapter 9: I normally don't comment about a story but this one is an exception, and what an exception it is. I really loved the characterization of Jinah, the Reds, Luhan and Exo; I felt that you really made Jinah come alive as a character, not only because of your description of her. but by the way you wrote about her dancing, drawing and her thoughts/feelings, made me aware that Jinah was creative, passionate and diligent. I also liked the fact that Luhan and Jinah already knew each but it just took them meeting in Beijing for Luhan to really notice her and take an interest. Wow! This was a really long and embarrassing comment. On a positive note, I really loved this story and I hope you continue to write more. PS: do you still read comments about this story?
