The MaskTaking the paper bags with her, she left the restaurant with a heavy heart. It was their first date, and it turned out like that because of Luhan’s love for Yeon Ah. She wasn’t blaming her, but she couldn’t help not to feel jealous and envious of her. Who wouldn’t be when someone as sweet and kind as Luhan took good care of her?
As she walked across the street, she could feel the stares and hear whispers behind her back. She lowered down her head and refused to meet anyone in the eye, in fear that they would recognize her as Luhan’s girlfriend. Fear because she knew how sasaengs can go really crazy and she couldn’t even distinguish who was a sasaeng and who was just an ordinary fan at one look.
She started walking faster to the bus stop, and she could hear footsteps following her until someone called her, “Unnie!” Before she could even think properly, she whisked her head and looked behind where the voice came from. The girl didn’t seem familiar to her, and there were a few girls with her. Then, it clicked to her that she might be a sasaeng or just a fan.
She had an experience with people recognizing her as a dancer, but not as Luhan’s girlfriend. She smiled awkwardly at her and bowed. She was planning on continuing walking because she was getting scared.
She only managed to take one step further from them until she felt a strong yank on her right wrist. She winced slightly at the pain and tried to keep her temper down as she looked at the same girl. “Unnie, why is Luhan oppa dating you?”
As she tried to gather her thoughts and fix it, she couldn’t, due to the pain on her wrist. She just unknowingly bowed at her again as she turned, but she kept pulling her hand like a little kid who was asking for a candy at her mom. “Unnie, answer me,” she demanded, and Jinah was trying to take her hands from her grip. The girl was getting impatient and soon, the people started crowding, filming and taking pictures of them.
Jinah tried to pry her hand nicely from her again until she got so angry at Jinah for not answering her. “Ugh, this is so useless!” She shoved Jinah’s hand away strongly and her wrist hit the metal pole beside her. That was when Jinah started to scream in pain and the girl just rolled her eyes at her, not without saying, “Serves you right.”
Instead of helping Jinah, she just walked away. Jinah was expecting the onlookers to help her, but none of them did, and they just continued looking and taking pictures. Tears were running down on her face and she quickly wiped them away while running to nowhere in particular.
She clutched her hand in pain as she sat down on one of the benches and fished out her phone from her bag. She tried calling Luhan several times, but he never answered. She gave up and called someone who would surely pick up her call despite of anything.
“Kevin, please pick me up.” She started crying again and she could hear the panic in his voice as she told him where she was.
In no less than fifteen minutes, he arrived and the worried look was visible on his face. “What the hell happened?!” He started looking at her hand that was swollen and red. He was about to touch it, but she kept it away from him.
