The South Pole: Confession pt. 2 with the bodyguard and moonlight sonata

Magnet

The magnetic lines of force originate from the North Pole of a magnet and end at its South Pole

A melodic C-sharp minor piano keys was echoed throughout the air, filling every corner of the room. For those who understood, would easily identified a familiar adagio sostenuto in the very first movement. The movement opened with an octave in the left hand and a triplet figuration in the right.

Harmonic melodies compositions played by the audio would seized every beating heart that heard it. Transformation of pianossimo into mezzo forte successfully made a powerful impression for anyone who hear it. One of the most strong, remarkable effect would be a prolonged unfulfilled desire or need that lead to a heart breaking emotion. As the title given, Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven was composed based on a heart-broken feeling of the composer for the love of his life that ended up tragedy because of a different class status.

Lee Sungmin was 9 years old when he heard Moonlight Sonata for the first time. He was in Vienna, watching piano concert held by the Vienna Philharmonic. His heart thumped wildly like a drum and suddenly, his senses were dead. The moment he shutted his eyes securely while listening to the beautiful melodies, he felt like his soul being absorbed out of his body into another world, a world of his own. After presto agitato played as a closing movement, without Sungmin realized, a stream of tears was sliding smoothly on the young boy’s cheek and it made him shuttered. Since then, Moonlight Sonata would always be the soundtrack of his escapades.

A beautiful yet heart-breaking melody of Moonlight Sonata accompanied Sungmin during his ‘session’ with Leeteuk. Park Jungsoo, knownly as Leeteuk, was 10 years older than Sungmin. With light brown colored or as they said, auburn hair, Leeteuk had a slight bangs down over his forehead. Just like Sungmin, he was also one of a kind Leiotrichi.

There was one first impression of this man that you wouldn’t forget if you met him, his dimples smile. It was so tender to see and would send a warm feeling to calm your heart. Having a heart-melting smile became a very much advantage for Leeteuk with his chosen career path, a psychiatrist.

The auburn haired man was 20 years old and just graduated as cumlaude from pre-med school in Royal Sapphire University when he met Sungmin for the first time. A ten years old blonde boy already captured Leeteuk’s heart when the said boy gave him a pink-wrapped lollipop, with his shy smile. Sungmin who apparently was escaping from his bodyguards, clung to Leeteuk and asked him to be his friend. Who would have the heart to resist a pair of big doe eyes, a pouty lips and battled eyelashes coming from a blonde boy wearing a short suspender and a bowtie? Leeteuk definitely melted right there with Sungmin’s cute demeanour and (of course) he wouldn’t say no to him.

Being the only person that Sungmin trust and comfortable with, a year later, Leeteuk was contracted by Sungmin’s father, Lee Sunghyun, as Sungmin’s personal psychiatrist eventhough the auburn man still in the beginning of his medical school to achieve his Doctor of Medicine. Park Jungsoo’s roles as Sungmin’s friend, guardian, counselor, psychiatrist, brother and parents started from there.

The blonde President was laid leisurely on a couch in his big bedroom. His head rested gently on Leeteuk’s lap. The older man was his soft blonde hair with so much gentleness as he glanced down, observing his precious blonde boy who was closing his eyes and smiling while listening to the melancholy symphony. Whenever Leeteuk saw Sungmin drawn in his own world of Moonlight Sonata, he always feel entangled together with the blonde. He felt like Sungmin dragged him slowly into another world, shutted their surroundings and opened the door to the new world for him. It was a foreign feeling for Leeteuk, yet it was comforting at the same time.

“I had a bad dream Hyung....” Sungmin opened his eyes slowly, and found his Leeteuk Hyung staring at him, dimple smile was on his face. Just like usual, it made Sungmin more comfortable to share all of his life concerns.

“Bad dream?” Leeteuk asked, confused tone was slightly audible.

Sungmin nodded slowly. “It was horrible...I-I was alone, lost in the dark. I tried to run but the dark still there, chasing me Hyung.” Sungmin shivered by the memory of his dream, his eyes were gazing to the ceiling. “It was worst when I found out that I was muted.” He tensed.

Leeteuk rubbed the younger’s head lightly, giving Sungmin a gentle massage to calm him. “What happened then?”

“Then suddenly a boy appeared behind me. He was around 5 years old and calling me Min...”

A small creased surfaced on Leeteuk’s face. “Did you remember who was that boy?”

Sungmin shook his head a little. “No...I couldn’t recognize him... And then he gave me bracelet, saying something about saving me.” Sungmin continued. “That’s not the end Hyung... The worst part was after that, when I woke up. I was sweating and panting, then my head hurted a lot. It felt like being with hammer continously... It was really really painful, and I almost hitted my head on the wall to cope with the pain.” Sungmin shivered as he lifted his right hand, covering his forehead and eyes with his palm.

“It’s okay Min...” Leeteuk coupled Sungmin’s hand with his own and removed it from the younger’s face gently. “The pain was gone now...” He smiled.

His Hyung was right. Eventhough it was 10 minutes of hell when he felt that pain, it was gone now. “Yeah... You’re right.” He smiled appreciately towards his Hyung.

Leeteuk continued to rub, scratch and massage the younger’s head, a movement that spoiled Sungmin when the blonde boy needed affection and comfort. Sungmin loved it, especially when Leeteuk did it. No one could do it best like Leeteuk. His magical fingers could measure the exact pressure on his scalp, a skill which Sungmin hadn’t find in anybody else, especially Kangin. There was one time the said buff man tried to do it. And it ended up with cranky Sungmin with his pouty lips all day, since it was too harsh it made Sungmin’s head hurt for couple of hours.

“Min... Why do you think you had those dream... Were something happened, or...bothering you?” Leeteuk started the conversation again.

Sungmin released a sigh before answered. “That was a good question... I was going to go into that topic...” he smiled and continued. “I...had something, or, rather someone that got me confused and nervous.”

“Hmm... Is it that weird Jongwoon again? Or the sweet little Sunkyu?”

Sungmin chuckled and shook his head. “No, none of them... It was this guy named Cho Kyuhyun...”

Leeteuk was alarmed in an instant, the name was new as Sungmin never mentioned it in all of their sessions before. He suddenly remembered about Sungmin’s room intruder that was caught by the fingerprint’s censor in Sungmin’s room. “Oh, what this Cho guy did that made you confused and nervous?”

Leeteuk could feel Sungmin’s body shifted, his upper body leaned closer on his lap. “He is very difficult to deal with Hyung! He got me confused as he could make me uncomfortable and relax at the same time! One time, I got nervous and anxious, and few minutes later I could relax even laugh with him. His snarky and cocky attitudes pisses me off repeatedly!” As Sungmin eagerly blabbered about Cho Kyuhyun, he swayed both of his hands in the air. His body language was convincing his annoyed feeling. “I can’t believe such kind of guy really exist in this world! He got this dark eyes and smirking lips that gave me shivers Hyung. Few times I got kidnapped and confronted directly with criminals, but I never felt that tensed around a person like I was with Cho Kyuhyun. Oh god!! He gave me headache all the time!”

It was totally unusual scene. Leeteuk found it surprising that the blonde boy acted like this while chirping about someone. Sungmin was usually firm and composed, just like a water. He never shown too much excitement in his emotion before. Of course he sometimes bounced here and there, laughing at Kangin when he succesfully made the buff man worried as hell, smiling brightly like a sun when he was utterly happy, but Sungmin never got to this point where he seemed, as Leeteuk described, livelier than he ever be.

The younger boy was still bombarding Leeteuk about several reasons why Cho Kyuhyun was a bastard or a jerk even hearing his name could peeved him, when suddenly the auburn man caught Sungmin’s moving hands and held it gently. The blonde subsided slowly. “Min... I’ve got a whole weekend for you... So, you can start with how you met he who shall not be named guy...” Leeteuk smiled, his dimple surfaced proudly on his face.

Sungmin’s face turned supple and his body began to relax. “Yeah, sure Hyung...” Sungmin smiled in replied.

Moonlight Sonata melodies repeatedly dancing throughout the room. It accompanied Sungmin and Leeteuk to forget the reality and transport them into their own world, where Sungmin could comfortably speak whatever things in his mind and Leeteuk would gladly listen the younger without judgments. Of course just like Leeteuk suggested, the topic would be...Cho Kyuhyun.

*****

A pair of lurking eyes of a man traced the living room cautiously. His sharp vision noticed few things uncommon and out of the routine happened in the said place. After pacing around the room in a careful movement, he wrote down in mind his discoveries. First, there were several cigar’s in the trash bin, under thin bundle of bleeded roller bandages. This was making him terrified and worried since he knew exactly that blood and cigars never referred to a good thing. Second, first aid tool box, which supposed to be stored in the kitchen cabinet, was at the small side table beside the bookshelf. Third, he found a crumpled paper contained a message written from Kyu-Hyung to Min.

Min? Dear Min?! Is this my Min this whatever Kyu-Hyung name referring to?

His third discovery was the peak that put Kangin at the edge of turmoil. He suddenly rushed towards the bookshelf area, a place where his poison needle targeted towards, presumably, Kyu-Hyung guy. Kangin bent down and trailed the carpeted floor with his fingers. When his fingers touched something, he grabbed it carefully. It was a familiar needle that he assembled along with a custom-made arc, specifically build and connected to his computer.

Kangin stood up and glanced at the clock. It was already 40 minutes since Leeteuk and Sungmin stayed inside the blonde’s bedroom, having their session. Sungmin theraphy session with Leeteuk always over an hour, means he still had 20 minutes to secure Sungmin’s living room with, Kangin would called, protection’s equipments.

Kangin, 26 years old, a big built man who had sworn to protect Lee Sungmin since 5 years ago. With a real name called Kim Youngwoon, Kangin was familiar with investigation’s tools, weapons, self-defence and basic IT. He didn’t like to be known as Kim Youngwoon since it reminded him of his past life. However, as much as he hated that name and preferred to be called Kangin, whenever Sungmin or Leeteuk called him with his real name, he couldn’t get mad and would responded resignedly.

Kangin pulled out several books from the third row of the bookshelf. He pushed a certain spot on the backside of the shelf that resulted a rectangular-shaped part of the shelf sticked out. With his right hand, Kangin pulled the rectangular cover to reveal a square hole filled with his custom made weapon, small arc that built to release a poison needles. After making sure the small arc still had enough needles to shoot few unwanted people in Sungmin’s room, he closed the hole with its cover and made sure everything were placed back in its spot.

The buff man went to the middle of the room and looked up at the ceiling, where another of his custom made weapon for phase two located. Eventhough he had the urge to check on it, he decided to do it another time, when Sungmin left his room for a good few hours. Instead, he pulled out a tube from his pocket which contained x-ray powder that used to identify fingerprints.

With a chic interior design, many people were gullible with the real capability of Sungmin’s room. The Young Lee’s room was surrounded with a few censors that connected and controlled in Kangin and Leeteuk’s house, two stories apartment’s room in SM Town. One of the censor was the fingerprint’s censor. The censor would capture any fingerprints that had contact with the x-ray powder. And it would send an alert through Kangin’s computer if the same fingerprints captured few times.

Kangin spread the x-ray powder at certain places, mainly near documents or personal spots in Sungmin’s room. After that, he changed all of the frame pictures standing on the wooden counter with his custom made frame pictures. The same photo displayed on the new frame that was equipped with a small hidden camera. The buff man made sure that he put all of the frame at the same spot and in the same angle. After all, the least thing he wanted was receiving another silent treatment from Sungmin if the blonde boy discovered about it.

Done with all of his task in securing the place, he went to the balcony and setted up all the equipments needed for their barbercue session. When he passed the living room to take few utensils from the kitchen, he took the crumpled paper contained the Kyu guy’s message and shoved it into his jeans pocket.

*****

“Eat more.” Few slice of meats were placed on Sungmin’s plate.

“Come on... I’m full Hyung.” Protested the blonde boy. He put the meat back one by one into the grill.

“Bull, you eat only a little, it wasn’t even considered as eating.” As Kangin retorted, he put another few slice.

Before Sungmin could say something to reply, Leeteuk interrupted. “True. You looked slimmer, and paler Min. You definitely need red meat for your anemic body.”

Kangin lifted his beer bottle towards Leeteuk, motioning to have a cheers since both of them agreed upon the same thing. Leeteuk welcomed the gestures and clanked their beer bottle together, making a certain blonde boy pouted in annoyence. “I hate it when both of you conspired against me. Serving as the President of Royal Sapphire’s High School, I regarded it as a form of treason.” Sungmin flaunted.

Leeteuk and Kangin were exchanging glances before cheered mockingly in unison “Ooouuuu... Cockyyy Min!! We’re loving it!!” they laughed afterwards.

The happy atmosphere was disturbed suddenly with a few knocks coming from the front door. Leeteuk and Kangin’s laughters were slowly faded as all of their attention directed towards the door.

Sungmin was going to open the door when Kangin halted his movement. “Are you expecting someone?” Kangin asked in an alert tone.

Sungmin shook his head. “Not that I remembered.”

“Stay here.” Kangin stood up and started to take steps towards the door.

“But Hyung-” Before Sungmin could finish his sentence, his phone vibrated, alerting a new message for him. Instead tailing Kangin to the door, he took his phone from his pocket. To his surprise, he revealed a message from no other than Cho Kyuhyun.

Dear Min, my lover,

Maybe I skipped another two sessions again without news whatsoever, but I wouldn’t skip giving you your favorite desserts.

You’ll die with diabetic if you ate it with your so called famous home made chocolate. If you wanted to continue your glamorous Presidencies life, try black coffee.

-Your Kyu-Hyung

Sungmin couldn’t hold his chuckled after he finished reading the message. He shook his head slowly while typing a message on his phone to reply.

Dear my Kyu-Hyung,

Is it a bribery? As a President with a lot of integrity, I cannot accept any form of gratification that lead to fraud practice. However, I will overlooked that matter if you provide me with medical records stating that you’re having a decent treatment for your injuries in our next session.

Did you know that cancer, caused by “cigarrates” (especially mixed with caffeinne contained in “black coffee”), killed you faster than diabetic? Well, just a thought.

-Your beloved lover

Leeteuk didn’t miss Sungmin’s small laughter soon after the blonde read a message from his gadget. He saw it with his own eyes how Sungmin’s expression became enthusiastic when he typed something on his phone. It intrigued him. Sungmin's reaction over the message trigerred the auburn man to ask the blonde about it. He was left unanswered because Kangin distracted both of them. The bodyguard came back with an opened paper box on his right hand.

“Min, you’ve got a surprise from your secret admirer. I found this in front of your door.” Kangin grinned. “It seemed we didn’t have to worry about desserts. This pumpkin pie was delicious.” He opened the box wider to reveal a small round of pumpkin pie that crooked a little at the right part.

“You tasted it?!” Sungmin asked Kangin in an accusing tone.

Kangin was startled for a second before replied. “Of course I tasted it. I needed to make sure that it was not poisoned.”

Sungmin rolled his eyes and took over Kangin’s possesion of the box. “I’m finishing this. You’re not getting any Kangin-Hyung.” He said while walking towards the kitchen.

“Hey, you said you were full.” Kangin protested. He was still trying to get the sweets even though he knew his chance was slim. When Sungmin ignored him, Kangin turned his body towards Leeteuk. He lifted both of his hand in confusion, asking for the older male to back him up.

Leeteuk shrugged in response. “I told you to never mess with Sungmin and his sweet tooth.”

The buff man slumped in defeat.

*****

With bottle of beer at their hand, Leeteuk and Kangin was sitting at the kitchen in their room. Since Sungmin live in YG dormitory building, the School Assembly gave several advantages for the Young Lee, whom family had the most shares in SM Enterprise. One of it was providing another room for Sungmin’s guests that located right beside his dorm room. The room was almost the same size as Sungmin’s, and the bedroom was connected directly to Sungmin’s bedroom. It became Leeteuk and Kangin’s place whenever they’re staying over to visit their blonde President.

“It was positive the guy was Cho Kyuhyun.” Leeteuk started a conversation after they settled at the kitchen. “Did we got him?”

“Dunno, I found the needle though.” Kangin was spinning his bottle slightly before he remembered about something. “Oh wait, I need to show you something.” He took a crumpled paper from his jeans pocket and shoved it to Leeteuk. “I found this in his living room.”

Leeteuk was taking his moment to read before replied. “Yeah, I know. Sungmin told me all the details about him. They’re somekind of together now.”

“What?! What do you mean together?!” Kangin narrowed his eyes in response of the newly information he heard.

“As a lover kind of thing. You know... Highschool drama as such.” Leeteuk shrugged it off casually. He knew Kangin would be in rage all over the places with the fact and it’s not helping. Leeteuk needed Kangin not to distract with that matter right now since he wanted Kangin to focus on another important thing. “Kangin... That is not our main issue right now. Our priority is to find out all of information regarding Cho Kyuhyun.”

Kangin pulled a stern face as Leeteuk continued “This Cho Kyuhyun guy... Almost invaded all of Sungmin’s mind.”
