The Flower Boys (Three Flowers)
It was past midnight and most of everyone had left to go home. You were still there with Ga Eul. Ga Eul was on the verge of passing out right on the floor. Kai was still there as well. He saw when you had came back from the trash bin into the classroom with your hair in a ponytail. It was down to your shoulders when you had left. He also noted the chalky stains on your plaid skirt. (You thought you had gotten rid of the stains due to the trash that had been poured on you but you missed.)
When you had came back from cleaning yourself off, you couldn't shake the words Lu Han had said to you.
"Why don't you stop being weak and become strong."
One of the handsomest boy in school had told you this. You felt happy to have heard his strict words and yet you felt a new surge of energy. Sulking and blaming yourself was not going to make you happy. And just because one boy rejected you, it doesn't mean to continue walking around the world with your head down while everyone is looking down on you. You have to become stronger. You try to focus back on your studies but it was useless. When it came to midnight, Ga Eul had claimed that she needed to go to the bathroom before she leaves for home. You nodded your head and started to pack up.
You took out your cell phone and started to text your mother to let her know you were wrapping it up and going home. Little did you know that you and Kai were the only ones left in the room. What was even more startling was when Kai's hands were on your cell phone chain. As soon as you looked up, your eyes matched his as you suddenly realize you were really close to him. Close enough to smell his body cologne. Your eyes widened as he smiled, looking at you.
"It's pretty." he said.
Not fully understanding what was happening or why, you try to piece together what reality was like right now. Here is a handsome guy, staring you in your face with a charming smile, while he almost singed the words "Its pretty." Hanging onto his moment for a little bit, you try to grasp it all before you looked down blushing.
"W-what is?" You said above a whisper.
You looked down at your lap feeling so nervous. Your not in the mood to be bullied or teased with. It's late at night and you were feeling both tired and hungry.
"This...." he yanked at your cell phone chain.
It was a crystal chain with a fake red jewel heart attached. You try to look up and surprisingly you see him trying to catch your eye level.
"T-thanks." You said to him.
"What's your name? I'm Kim Jong-In. But everyone calls me Kai." he said
.
This was the first time any guy had introduced themselves to you. Let alone approach you. In school no one would even think of trying to become your friend. The only person who has done that was Ga Eul. And it was equally hard on her as it was on yourself. To you, this was really rare and a bit weird. "Is he trying to be polite as they say?" you ask yourself.
"Why are you telling me this?" You asked, gaining a little volume in your voice to speak.
Kai's smile slackened a little and then he looked away for a second as if he had to think about it. Feeling uncomfortable you shift in your seat and avoid eye contact.
"We're classmates right? I like to get to know my surroundings." He came up with.
You didn't say nothing as you stared at your lap. Finally you thought of something to ask.
"Your friends with Ga Eul...right?" You asked him.
"Oh...yes...that's right." Kai said returning to that enchanting smile that already became imprinted in your mind.
You nodded once and continued to gather your stuff. He sat there waiting for something and decided at first he wasn't going to say anything. But he couldn't fight the urge to ask you again.
"Could you tell me...your name?" he asked.
"It's
"
"Cute? Did he just say...cute?" This time you could not look away from his carefree grinning face. This smile was far different from the smile's that were always taunting you. For him to say that your name was "cute" was insane. You felt like you were definitely being picked on. Quickly you gathered the rest of your things and stuffed them in your book bag. Once Kai stopped fancying himself after learning your name, he noticed you were in a rush.
"Is someone waiting for you?" he asked.
"Deh?" You asked, suspicious as to why he would be asking you this.
Kai notices the worried expression on your face and calm's himself down a notch. He was excited to have known the name behind the bread creme girl.
"Are you in a rush? Your packing up so quickly..."
You tried to think of something to tell him.
"My umma doesn't like for me to walk too late at night by myself. Even though my house is a couple of blocks away."
"Aren't you walking with Ga Eul?" Kai asked.
"Only to the intersection. She usually takes a bus. Tonight she'll be taking the taxi." You said to him.
"So your going to be walking home all alone?" he asked.
You bend your headed down and nodded once. Kai saw this as the perfect opportunity. Once again he lowered his head to try to meet your gaze.
"Then I'll walk you home." he said.
"Deh?"
The shock in your tone was questioning. "A handsome guy like him send me home? Is this really out of sympathy?" You ask yourself.
"Then it's agreed?" Kai settled.
"Ill be fine. I don't need..."
"It's too late. I'm walking you home." He said.
He stood up and gathered his things while wearing a smile so confident that it too imprints in your mind. Somehow you can't feel bad about this gesture he was doing.
THE UNTOLD ENDING...that's right I will post a mini follow-up to this series. After many people not being satisfied with the ending I will add a mini sequel!
