CHAPTER 41: THE NIGHT HE REMEMBERED

                The night of Tokyo was full of stars, twinkling its light. Yamapi leaned against the chair as his eyes stared at them. Inside his mind, he thought about something else. Closing his eyes, the image of Maki haunted him once again. He bit his lips as he opened his eyes. Something was not right. He whispered within his heart. Slowly, he straightened his body and leaned on his hands. His gaze fall on a blue velvet box on the table in front of him. Yamapi took it and opened the box.

              In front of him, two gold rings shone brightly. Five months ago, he bought the rings himself after he the night they shared. Guilty and responsible was the only thing that he had in  mind when he woke up that morning. And he really meant it. That was why he immediately bought the ring it, chose the design and bought it. He did not care anymore with whom she with. What he knew that she was already belong to him and the needed to have her once again drove him crazy.  Yamapi looked back at the rings and took the box. He eyed the rings, looking at it intently. If she did not deny about what happened that night, she would already be mine. He whispered within himself.        

         Rumour had been swarming over him about Maki. Seriously, he did not know why, but sure he heard about her everywhere he worked. About her bad reputation, her mistakes when she filmed, everything. That made his heart squeezed painfully thinking about her. Does she feel affected on their sudden meeting at the restaurant? That time, he really hated that situation. Who doesn’t? When your ex girlfriend is dating with someone that you really know and respected years ago in front of you. What made his heart bleed even more was when Sho hold her hands. That was why, he shifted his gaze to somewhere else.

“Ne....Yamapi, I don’t know that the two are really dating together,” Keiko whispered to him when Sho and Maki left their table. Her eyes never leave the two lover birds. Yamapi scoffed hearing. Inside him, his blood boiled. His hand curled into a fist, controlling the rage that started to form within him.

“ But, they really looked good together ne. Even their face are identical if you look closer,” her words were like a knife, piercing inside his heart again and again. Yamapi glanced his eyes toward the couple, who sat not far from them. But he just looked for a while, and turned his head once again. His heart could not take it anymore.

“Keiko, let’s go. Suddenly I remembered there something that I need to do,” he said while standing up. The woman sat in front of him just shock with his sudden suggestion. But, she just nodded and did not question him any further. They left the restaurant immediately after that.

                About the rumours, the staffs had been talking about it, and it bothered him so much. Although he did not have any relationship with Maki anymore, but somehow, his heart could not help but concerned about her. However, he managed to control his emotion when he remembered the moment where he met Maki and Sho. That incident managed to make him reminded himself that the woman was belong to someone else. So, he suppressed all the stupid feelings within him again, although he had to swallow all the pain inside.

                Then one day, Yamapi met her once again when he had a night out with his friends. His heart nearly stopped when he saw her. That moment, he thought it was a hallucination since it did happen to him before. So, he ignored it and continued enjoy in private room with others. But, his mind was not in peace. Maki’s face was haunting him. Even alcohol and party did not appeal him like usual. Finally, he stood up and left the room, trying to check it once again just to conform on it. Once he reached the area where he saw Maki, he was stunned to see her, sitting at the bar while drinking. Her face was already red due to the alcohol.

                Automatically, his feet dragged him to her. But, Maki did not realise him standing behind her. When he saw she wanted to reach the glass again, to drink more, his hands grabbed his hands. He managed to grab her from the place. That time, he did not care anymore whether on his reputation, or his name. What he knew, he could not see her swallowing the drinks again.

“What are you doing, Marina?” Yamapi pinned her with a glaring look. His eyes were dark, as his face showed deep frown all over it. Maki turned her face front, ignoring the man’s question. Her hand tried to reach the glass once again. Seeing himself being ignored by the woman, Yamapi grabbed her hands, dragging her from the place.

“Let me go!!” she said struggling under the man’s hands. But, Yamapi was stronger and he never let her go. Once they reached the corner of the bar, where nobody was around, he stopped and looked at her. This time, concern was all in his eyes.

“Why are you doing this?” Yamapi asked her with a question. He eyed her face, trying to find the answer. Lifting her chin up, she shot him with a glaring look.
