Start Over

Hey, Playgirl!

Soomin was massaging her temples to ease her growing headache when U-Kwon sat down beside her. She looked up at him and instantly grew furious.

"What the hell do you want now?! Can't you see I've had enough of your games!?" Soomin shouted, hot tears forming in her eyes. U-Kwon was taken aback for a moment, finally seeing just how heavily his antics affected Soomin.

What he did next, surprised the both of them.

"I'm sorry." He murmured almost inaudibly. Soomin couldn't believe her ears so she stared at him for a moment, blinking confusedly.

"W-what do you mean?" Soomin asked. "Sorry for what?"

"Nothing, it doesn't matter anymore. Come on." U-Kwon replied, grabbing Soomin's wrist. He pulled her up to her feet.

"Woah, wait! What are you doing?" Soomin snapped. U-Kwon didn't reply this time. Instead, he got a firm hold on her wrist and began to tug her along behind him.

"H-hey! Stop it!" Soomin shouted, attempting to pry U-Kwon's fingers off her wrist. U-Kwon turned his head to look at her and he flashed her a wide smile. It wasn't a mocking one like usual, it was a sincere one.

"We're going to go and cheer you up. B-Bomb was being a jackass wasn't he? Don't worry though, Kim Yookwon is here to make you smile!" He said, grinning brightly.

Soomin was absolutely bewildered. What in the world had made U-Kwon act this way? That childish and playful smile on his face right then, reminded Soomin so much of the old Kim Yookwon. The Kim Yookwon she knew before he had heartlessly dumped her.

Maybe it was just a trick that he was playing on her. A ruse to get her to put her guard down, just so he can shatter her again. But, some part of Soomin's heart couldn't help but hope it wasn't a trick.

It might just be those old, powerful feelings she had for him before, rising up again. She thought those feelings had disappeared by now, pushed away into the darkest depths of her heart.

Yet, he was her first love after all. *You know what people say, Soomin. You never forget your first love.*

Those feelings were hard to fight back. She definitely couldn't deny how much she wanted the old Kim Yookwon back again. No matter what she said, there was always that tiny hope that he would come back to her as her Kim Yookwon.

"Hey, Shin Soomin. Are you alright?" U-Kwon asked, his voice filled with worry. He waved his hand in front of her face. Soomin blinked and snapped out of her trance, only to get into U-Kwon's eyes boring into her own.

"Is everything okay?" He asked again, raising an eyebrow. "Maybe~ You were thinking of how y I am?" U-Kwon teased, his lips curling into a smirk.

"." Soomin said, shoving him away. *Damn, I can't believe I fell for it again. I thought that just maybe, he was trying to make things right.*

"Wait, wait! Don't walk away yet. I guess I was joking around right then, but I'm serious about what I said before." U-Kwon said, his eyes not showing that michevious sparkle they usually had. "I wanna get that frown off your face and replace it with your beautiful smile."

*, why is he such a good sweet talker? I really hope I'm not blushing right now.* Soomin anxiously bit her bottom lip, still not believing his words.

Closing her eyes, Soomin took a deep breath. Then, she opened them again and looked U-Kwon straight in the eye. "I'm only going to say this once, so listen closely, alright?" She waited for U-Kwon to respond, continuing once he gave a small nod.

"I'm grateful that you're trying to cheer me up, but you don't need to do that. We have no connection to each other anymore. We're just strangers now... so, why don't you just go back to your friends and leave me be."

U-Kwon didn't say anything for a minute. He averted his gaze, seeming to be caught in deep thought. After what felt like a millenia, he spoke up.

"What if... I don't wanna be strangers anymore? What if I was genuinely sorry for the pain I caused you before? And, what if I want to start over with you?"

Now, it was Soomin's turn to be speechless. Time seemed to come to a stop. Everything around them slowed down to a snail's pace.

*Start over? With me? No. I can't give in to him that easily.* Soomin looked up at him, steeling her gaze. "I'm sorry. You don't understand just how deeply you managed to leave your scars. It's not going to be so easy for me to forgive you. Maybe, I'll never forgive you. But, if you wanna try to open me up to you again, then try."

U-Kwon tapped his chin thoughtfully, pondering what to do. Then, he smiled. "Alright then, I'll take you up on that offer. I'm going to do my best to get you back. Starting now." He said.

With that said, he grabbed Soomin's wrist and tugged her along again, but more gently than before. "Let's go catch a movie! There's this one action movie that I've been wanting to watch. I think you'll probably like it too." He exclaimed, excitedly.

Soomin wanted to protest at first, but she softened when she heard the excitement in his voice. He really seemed like the old Kim Yookwon right then.

"By the way, what's in that bag?" U-Kwon asked curiously. The two of them were now walking at a comfortable pace, heading towards the movie theater.

Soomin had forgotten about the bag of Disney movies she had borrowed from Chaejin. Now that U-Kwon pointed it out, she couldn't help but feel a little pang of guilt in her chest.

*If Chaejin saw me now, going to watch a movie with another guy, would he be hurt? But, why should I care? It's not like he's my boyfriend yet.*

"Just a couple of movies. Nothing special." She replied. "Can I see them?" U-Kwon asked, reaching out for the bag.

"No! Umm, I mean, they belong to a friend of mine and they wouldn't like it if I let someone touch them." Soomin answered quickly. She also clutched the bag a bit tighter, almost protectively.

U-Kwon looked at her, puzzled. He didn't want to probe any further so he switched the subject. "So, who's going to pay for the tickets?" He asked.

Soomin blinked at him, confused. "I know your policy. You don't like having the guy pay for everything. You want things to be fair. It's a part of who you are." He added.

*How does he remember that about me?* Soomin didn't know what to say. "How about, we do it the way we always did?" U-Kwon asked.

Soomin's lips twitched in amusement, remembering the way they used to decide things like this.

"Alright, heads or tails?" U-Kwon asked, holding the quarter in his hand. Soomin bit her lip, contemplating which side she wanted.

"Umm, heads!" She called out. U-Kwon grinned and flipped the coin. Since they were standing out on the street, when U-Kwon missed the coin, it landed on the concrete and rolled into the sewer. The pair stared at it in disbelief for a second, before bursting out in laughter.

"Kwonnie, how could you miss the coin?!" Soomin teased, playfully smacking U-Kwon on the shoulder. U-Kwon chuckled and slung his arm around her shoulder.

"Sorry, Minnie  Mouse~ Just for that, I'll pay this time." He said. Soomin giggled at his fail aegyo and leaned up to kiss his cheek.

"Heads or tails?" U-Kwon asked, causing Soomin to snap out of her daze. "Uh, heads." She replied. U-Kwon let out a low chuckle and flipped the coin.

It came back down to earth and U-Kwon caught it with a flourish. "Aaaand the result is? Heads!" U-Kwon sang, cheerfully. "Miss Shim Soomin, you are the lucky winner of the coin toss game! Now, go buy those tickets!"

Soomin tried to hold in her laughter, but she couldn't. Between U-Kwon's ridiculous MC act, and the impish grin on his face, she broke down and laughed out loud.

U-Kwon smiled victoriously, happy that he made Soomin laugh. Soomin quickly stopped laughing and went to go pay for their tickets.

U-Kwon watched her for a moment. *Is it just me or is Shim Soomin making the game feel like it isn't a game anymore? Why do I feel like I don't want it to be a game? Why is it that, somewhere in a dark corner of my heart, I truly do want to start over with her?*

Chapter 38: That is the cutest, and bad- story !!!! Some of the characters were a tad weird... and I was expecting for some embarrassing bomb to occur to Eunhee or something - and that everyone finally realise who's the real b****. Anyways... the story is very good and very amusing ^^
