Through the pile of clothes on the bed, Pie found a Comme Des Garcons royal blue play polo shirt with a red heart on the left side of the chest. She held it to her face and the familiar smell immediately struck her, the feeling of loss was knotting her stomach and pulling her heart. The overwhelming sadness she fought was nearly enough to suffocate her. Kim, her best friend, lover and soul mate almost succumbed to Leukemia. She remembered the time she slogs through aimless days and nights with only the beat of Kim's heart monitor hummed and their memories to keep her afloat. It has been five years since Kim proposed to her. Back then, she had felt hopeful but ever since Kim left, she never felt so alone. Bile rose to and she ran to the bathroom, where she collapsed to her knees before the toilet. The loneliness was getting to her. Despite her every effort, it was still getting to her. The thought of Kim never coming back gave her sleepless nights. The thought of never again to run her fingers through Kim's soft hair, never to feel the warmth of her embrace; she would never share a bed with her again, never be woken up by her soft kisses each morning, never laugh with her so much that her stomach would ache, never fight with her about some silly jealousy. All that was almost left was a bundle of memories and an image of her beautiful face that never seems to falter. Their plan had been very simple which was to stay together for the rest of their lives. It was something they know would be possible. After all, they're best friends, lovers and soul mates destined to be together and everyone thought as well.    Pie flushed the toilet, and shivering from the coldness of the tiled floor, she shakily steadied herself to feet. She just turned thirty-five today. She just wanted to celebrate her birthday with Kim. She'd been missing her more and more. The last time she celebrated her birthday with Kim, she'd wished for them to grow old together. The memory rush back at her and Kim's gentle voice filled her head, deep and melodic.      "Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday my princess... Happy Birthday to you..."    Pie stood, her hands clasped with glee as Kim held a homemade birthday cake. When the song finished, Pie leaned over, closed her eyes, and blew out the candles with a silent wish. When she opened her eyes she saw that Kim's eyes were gleaming with tears.    "Pie, I know it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day. I want you to be happy and I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me. Everyday."      Pie longed for Kim to hold her and wrapped her arms around her again. Her eyes were red and sore and there seemed to be no end to this day for her. None of the rooms provided her with any solace. Just unwelcoming silences as she stared around at the furniture.    "Kim would not be happy with this." she thought.    She took a deep breath, dried her eyes and tried to shake some sense into herself. "No, Kim would not be pleased at all."    ###   Pie's phone has been constantly ringing since she wake up this morning however she hasn't been answering any calls. She stared blankly at the caller's name. Once again, it was a phone call from one of her friends. Almost everyday, her friends and family calls her, never fails to express concern. They probably thought all she did was sleep since she always refused their invitation to go out and have some fun. However, it's her birthday today and she felt that she would need to answer at least one of their calls or they might worry too much and suddenly barged into the house.    "Hello," she groggily answered.    Her voice was hoarse from all the tears, but she had long since stopped caring about maintaining a brave face for anyone. They all know that Kim would be the only one that can fill the hole in her heart. No amount of fresh air or shopping was going to fill it.    "Oh sorry babe, did I wake you?" the concerned voice of Nam came across the line.    "No, I was just dozing, it's fine."    "Happy birthday babe."    "Thanks." Pie answered short.    "Shone went out with Ter today and I was thinking of you."    Somehow the soothing, sympathetic voice of Nam sent tears t
