A few hours ago...

“Pie, could you cook for our lunch today?” Kim queried as soon as they were done with their breakfast.

Amused by the silly question, the girl raised her perfect eyebrows to the tom with a mocking gesture. “I always do that.” Pie let out a soft chortle.

“Good. You shall prepare it for three this noon.” Kim said before she picked up her belongings, getting ready to go to work.

“Why three? Do we have a special guest today?” It surprised the girl out of her expectation.

“Sure.” The tom nodded and before Pie could ask for more, the latter had already made her way leaving the kitchen.

“Who is the guest?” The girl asked as expected.

“Your sister. Call her to join us for lunch.” Kim bellowed from afar. “It is an order. Make sure she is here before I come back from the office.” The reminder slipped clearly to Pie’s hearing before Kim’s figure gone from her sight.

Current time...

“P’, do you live here? This house is huge… and luxurious.” The teenage girl gasped to the completely bizarre environment which lied to her view. The awkward feeling grew stronger as she stepped into the huge bungalow. For the first time ever, she was invited to such good place, far more different from the slum area where she used to live for years.

“This is Kim’s house and yeah I do live here.” Pie nodded her answer. She studied her younger sister’s reaction. The girl was wandering around the house in awe. She brought her fingers to touch every element around the dining hall like a curious little girl. Once, she stopped at the corner of the hall, staring to a huge paint hanging on the wall admiringly. Pie wondered what the girl was thinking about.

“P…” Hongyok turned around to look for her sister. “What are you really doing here? Don’t you tell us that you’re working as a personal assistant for Boss?” The girl asked with a sour suspicious in her tone.

“Yes I am.” Pie realized it was not the time to fret with the arising suspicion. She needed to cover up all the lies she had set up all this while. The secret between her and Kim should not be disclosed to Hongyok.

“Why are you staying at home and be more like a maid? P’, you know you can always tell me anything. I am your sister.” The girl queried, dissatisfied.

Pie was trapped for a fleeting moment, Hongyok wasn’t a little docile child to be fooled around, and the teenager was big enough to understand the norm of life. It hurt Pie that she couldn’t tell her sister the truth behind her stay in the house but everything seemed complicated to be explained in a short time.“Don’t you see it, I am a personal assistant.” Pie spoke. “I’m helping Kim with every personal matter; like cooking for example. I’m responsible in arranging her private life.”The elder stuttered. She didn’t think it does make a good sense of an answer but she needed to cover up the lies.

“It sounds so weird here.” Pie saw the teenager mused, overwhelmed with doubt.

“Look, what had I done is worth the payment right? You got to pay for your tuition fee and what not. Kim had helped us a lot so it’s fine for me to do the same in return. I’ve developed my cooking skill as well. Now stop wondering and help me to set up the table. Kim will be here in any minutes.” Pie said long and at the same time, she tried to avoid more questions from her younger sister.

“I thought I am the guest here.  Do I need to help you?” The girl pouted.

“Yes you’re Hongyok Chansakorn and you should have come much earlier to help me.” Pie shot a look to the teenager. “Why did it take so long for you to reach here and who took you to this place?” Pie wondered. When Hongyok did arrive to the place earlier, she didn’t see any transportation around the main entrance. It was impossible that the girl did walk for a great distance from their home to this housing area.

“P’Nan gave me a ride and dropped me here.” Hongyok said.

“Who is Nan? I have never heard the name before.” Pie’s eyebrows raised into a perfect shape of confusion as she tried to recall some of her younger sister’s friends.

“P’Nan is a newcomer and she is my new friend at school.” Hongyok answered her sister but then she tore her gaze away from the eldest, flushing for no reason.

Pie was about to respond to the young one when she caught a glimpse of Kim’s figure heading to the dining hall. Hongyok didn’t see her coming as she was back facing the tom.

“Is everybody here?” The tom queried purposely. It caught Hongyok’s attention when she turned around just to see who was coming. There she saw Kim was pulling up her long sleeve shirt charmingly.

“Hello Boss.” The girl said in reflex. “Thank you for inviting me here.”

“There’s no need to be that formal Honey. Call me P’Kim.” The tom smile flirtatiously. Hongyok exchanged her awkward gaze to her sister and so did Pie.

“Her name is Hongyok, Kim not honey.” Pie warned the tom with a stern look. It told Kim a direct message of “Don’t you dare to flirt with my sister.”

Kim didn’t seem affected by the warning. Instead she came up to Pie and said, “Alright sweetheart. Don’t be jealous. It’s my courtesy to treat all ladies rightly.” Before Pie could register the mean, Kim already reached down to plant a kiss to her forehead.

Pie gasped to the sudden act while Hongyok couldn’t believe her eyes. The moment grew silent as Pie petrified to her feet, wondering what her sister would think about the matter.

“Can we have our lunch now?” Kim asked, watching the two girls who seemed deep in their own thought. Hongyok didn’t move her gaze from Kim for a long second while Pie stared to her sister anxiously.

            “Sure.” Hongyok nodded slowly.

Lunch time…

Of all the adjectives to describe Kim, Pie could only explain that Kim was an unpredictable person. The first time she met Kim, the tom used to be so rude yet boastful in manner. The tom annoyed her almost every ticking second of her lifetime in the house or sometimes Kim could be as cold as ice but what comes to worst so far, Kim has become a lovely person out of sudden. The tom started to treat her right yet it didn’t seem right to her eyes; it scared her. It scared her to the fact that Kim started to have feeling towards her when she was uncertain with what’s happening in between them. Back to the current moment, it was unbelievable that Kim could be that thoughtful to ever invite her younger sister, Hongyok to the house. She has been missing the girl terribly and now that her sister was here, Pie became the witness of how wonderful Kim was to ever exist as a normal human being. Pie learnt that Kim was an easy going person. It didn’t take that long for Hongyok to get along with the tom. She watched how Hongyok broke into a hearty laughter whenever Kim cracked jokes, she saw how interested Kim was when Hongyok told her about her school or some of her activities that she joined and one that caught Pie the most was Kim had never lack of smile. It happened that whenever her gaze met the tom’s, Kim always gave her best smile; the enchanted smile which she hated the most.

“Pie…?” Kim’s voice broke Pie from her reverie. “I know I’m this charming and good looking. You don’t have to gaze to me as if you were trying to make a hole on my head.” Kim said, running her fingers through her hair delicately. Pie knew it in any seconds the tom was about to brag about herself.

“Who said I’m looking at you?” Pie tore her gaze away quickly. “I was trying to remind you that your lunch hour is about to end.” Pie claimed, gesturing her finger to the nearest clock on the wall.

“Gosh! You’re right.” Kim managed to have sip of her orange juice before she rose from her seat in hurry.  “Honey, we’ll talk again next time, maybe? You are welcome here anytime.” Kim said to Hongyok and the girl nodded ardently in return.

            “It’s Hongyok, Kim.” Pie corrected.

            “Oh whatever Pie.”

“See you next time, Hongyok.” Kim beamed. “And I’ll see you when I come home later.” Kim turned to look to Pie.

“Sure. Now, go. You’ll be late.” Pie tapped her finger to her wristwatch, reminding the tom that the time didn’t await her.

“Thank you for the treat P’Kim.” Hongyok took the opportunity to thank the tom.

“It’s my pleasure. You should thank your sister. She has become a great cook so far.” Kim winked. It sounded like a compliment to Pie. However, before Pie could utter her response to tom, the sisters saw Kim rushed to leave the dining hall.

“P’Kim is a nice person. I like her.” Hongyok told her sister. A second later, she caught Hongyok grinned like lunatic as it seemed that the young one had been put under a love spell.

            “Stop that. Now, you shal
