--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today was like most days; the sun was shining, birds were fluttering around while singing their melodic songs and nature itself seemed to give off a happy aura. It was a fairly good day for most people. Who knows? It may even be good enough to lift a person’s spirits. Today seemed like a really good day. Was it mentioned that today would be a good day? Sadly, that wasn’t going to be the case for everyone.

Waiting within a tree house were three kids whom had planned to have a whole day of fun this day. They probably would have gone through with their plan, but they were waiting patiently for two of their closest friends to show up. After all, all five of them had agreed to playing together and it would have felt wrong if they started without everyone being present.

Although they did not know what was holding the two up, Seohyun and Woohyun casually spoke with one another on the couch. Anything could have happened and for all they knew, Daehyun could still be eating. While they sat around though, the littlest one there sat by the window with worry coursing through his veins. Jongup didn’t like how late both Daehyun and Young Jae were. Sure, only a few minutes had passed since they were supposed to meet here at the tree house, but he just had a bad feeling that something happened to his two older brothers.

Looking over at Jongup, Seohyun frowned as she neatly folded her hands. Seohyun didn’t like seeing people worry about something, but she knew that it couldn’t be helped. Still, that didn’t mean that she shouldn’t at least comfort the poor boy. Getting up from her seat, she gave Woohyun a small smile before quietly walking over to Jongup. Once she was next to him, Seohyun carefully got down to her knees and sat on the heels of her feet before she began rubbing Jongup’s back. “Don’t worry, Jongup. I’m.. um... sure that they’ll be here soon. Daehyun never breaks a promise.” (SH)

“But... what if something super bad happened?! Then he HAS to break his promise!” (JU) Seohyun paused for a moment before she also ended up looking out the window. Jongup did have a point. Unless something had happened to them, then there was no way that Daehyun would break a promise. Promises were too important to Daehyun, after all. “I wanna look for big brother Daehyun and big brother Young Jae!” (JU)

Jongup looked up at Seohyun with a small pout, his eyes practically pleading for this opportunity. Seohyun tried to look away, to not fall into the trap that had already been sprung, but that one look had already sealed it for Jongup. Seohyun couldn’t help but continuously look at the boy before finally, she turned to look at Woohyun. “Can we go look for them?” (SH)

Woohyun sighed as he was faced with double the pout. Was it even possible to say no at this point? Still, maybe it was best to look for them. The bad feeling he had earlier was resurfacing as he thought about the incident with Yongguk and Sungyeol. He knew he should’ve gotten up and told Daehyun about it, but sleep had been tempting him at the time. “Okay. Let’s go look for them.” (WH)

“Where should we look? They could be everywhere!” (JU) Woohyun got to his feet as he thought on Jongup’s question. From what he saw on the police shows, whenever a missing person’s case came up, they always checked the places that the person usually went to for clues. Maybe it would be helpful for them if they did the same thing.

“We have to check the cafeteria, their room, and the playroom... I think.” (WH) Jongup and Seohyun got to their feet and nodded before following Woohyun out of the tree house. As they made their way down the steps, Woohyun tried to come up with other places they could be. There were a lot of different places and it could turn out that they wouldn’t ever find them, but they had to at least make sure that they were alright. “Seohyun, you check the playroom and Jongup, you check their room. If they’re not there, then.. we meet at their room and try to figure out what to do next.” (WH)

“Okay.” (SH)

“I’ll do really well, big brother!” (JU)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Big brother Daehyun! Big brother Young Jaeee! Where areee youuu~?!” (JU) Jongup listened, but there wasn’t any sort of response. He had hoped that yelling in the hallways would attract their attention, but it seemed like that wasn’t going to happen at this very moment. He pouted, frustrated tears trying to find their way through as he continued to venture through the hallway. Jongup refused to cry. He was a big boy and he wanted to impress his elder siblings as much as possible.

Upon reaching Daehyun and Young Jae’s bedroom, he paused as he looked around. For some reason, he had hoped that either one of the two would just randomly show up. It would have been nice if what he had hoped for came true, but it didn’t seem like it was going to be happening at this very moment either. With a determined look on his face, Jongup took hold of the doorknob and turned it before pushing the door open. Peeking his head inside, he looked around with a hopeful look in his eyes. “Big brothers?” (JU)

Not a single word came in response to Jongup’s question. With a small frown, Jongup stepped into the room as he looked around a bit more. Nothing seemed to be out of place, though there were also still no signs of either Daehyun or Young Jae. It was a let down, especially since he had hoped that the two would be here. Now, though, he would have to look elsewhere for the time being.

His head hanging low with disappointment, Jongup had just started to turn back towards the door when a certain glint caught his attention. Looking towards the object in question, Jongup’s eyes widened and his mouth hung slightly agape as he instantly recognized the fragile item. Walking up to it, Jongup crouched down before picking up the delicate object with curiosity. “Big brother’s glassies..” (JU)

“Jongup? Did you find something?” (SH) Jongup slightly turned towards the doorway as he saw Seohyun and Woohyun enter the bedroom. Getting to his feet, Jongup looked down for a moment before he held the pair of glasses out to the two. Seohyun gently took the glasses and inspected it while Woohyun stared, trying to think of what to do next. “What do we do..? Daehyun always uses his glasses...” (SH)

Both Seohyun and Jongup looked at Woohyun for the next step. Sadly, Woohyuin didn’t know what they should do next. Biting his bottom lip, Woohyun looked around the room. He hoped that an answer would come to him, but nothing seemed to be aiding him in any way. There was only one other option at this point. “Come on. I think we should look everywhere else. Maybe we can find them..” (WH)

With a nod from the other two, the three kids had started to head towards the door when something caught the attention of the eldest one. Pausing for a moment, Woohyun stared at the toy box that now blocked the closet door. Seohyun, noticing that Woohyun was no longer next to them, paused at the doorway as she turned back to face Woohyun. “What is it? Is something wrong?” (SH)

“The toy box.. It’s blocking the closet. It’s supposed to be in the corner.” (WH) Walking up to the toy box, he placed his hands on top as he thought for a moment. Why would the toy box block the closet? It wouldn’t make any sense unless it was somehow involved with a game that Daehyun and Young Jae came up with. “Can you help me move it back? It’s too heavy by myself.” (WH)

Jongup quickly ran up to the toy box, eager to help in any way as he already started attempting to push the toy box. Once Seohyun made her way over to them, the three of them worked hard to move the toy box out of the way. It was a bit different, but they had managed to clear the path to the closet. Oncec they were settled down, Jongup rushed up to the closet door. With little to no hesitance, Jongup opened the closer door as wide as possible before a gasp could be heard from behind. “Daehyun!” (SH)

“Big brother’s dead!” (JU) Instantly, tears sprung forth as Jongup began to wail rather loudly. While Seohyun attempted to calm Jongup down, Woohyun walked up to Daehyun before crouching down. Reaching down a bit, Woohyun lifted Daehyun’s shirt just enough as he stared at Daehyun’s stomach. A small sigh of relief escaped his lips as he saw Daehyun’s stomach moving up and down, indicating a sign of breathing.

“He’s still breathing. I think we should put him on the bed.” (WH) Although he was still sniffling a bit, Jongup helped Woohyun and Seohyun transport Daehyun over to the bed. Seohyun set Daehyun’s glasses on the bedside table before tucking Daehyun in. She frowned, worry running through her the second her eyes landed on the all too familiar Teddy bear that was currently laying on the bed.

“Where’s Young Jae?” (SH) Seohyun looked up at Woohyun, whom seemed fairly uncertain about Young Jae’s whereabouts as well. Jongup, after wiping his face with his shirt, quickly ran over to the closet. He looked here and there, but disappointment ran through him as he looked over at the other two.

“Big brother Young Jae isn’t here either..” (JU) Woohyun mentally kicked himself for not telling Daehyun and Young Jae sooner. If he had gotten up from bed, then Daehyun wouldn’t be unconscious and Young Jae wouldn’t be missing. Still.. at least he knew what happened to Young Jae. His thoughts were broken as he watched Seohyun get to her feet. Just as she started walking, Woohyun grabbed Seohyun’s wrist and pulled her back a bit.

“Where are you going?” (WH) Seohyun remained quiet for a moment before turning towards Woohyun.

“We have to tell Mr. Kim! Something bad happened and the adults have to fix it!” (SH) Seohyun attempted to pull her wrist free from Woohyun’s grasp, but it seemed like he didn’t intend to do what Seohyun wanted to do. Looking back up at Woohyun, the two stared at one another before Woohyun shook his head.

“We can’t do that yet. Let’s just.. um.. wait until Daehyun wakes up. I want to know what happened first.” (WH) Seohyun looked towards the doorway as she tried to think about what to do. It was important to tell a grown up what happened, but.. Woohyun was also in charge whenever both Mr. and Mrs. Kim were busy or out. With slight hesitance, Seohyun looked back at Woohyun before nodding.

“Do we tell Mr. Kim after he wakes up then?” (SH) Woohyun thought for a moment before shrugging. He did want to tell Mr. Kim what happened, but he also wanted to know what Daehyun wanted to do. Though, as he looked at Daehyun, Woohyun can already guess what Daehyun would plan to do next.

“I dunno.. I think we should let Daehyun pick what to do.” (WH) Both Seohyun and Jongup looked over at Daehyun, uncertainty clear on Seohyun’s face. Still, if Woohyun thought that that was the best idea, then she would comply. Walking over to the bed, Seohyun gently sat next to Daehyun as she made sure that Daehyun was currently comfortable. She just hoped that they were doing the right thing.

Jongup fiddled with his thumbs and index fingers, a look of worry and uncertainty on his face as he kept his gaze towards the ground. Looking up a bit, his eyes traveled from Daehyun to the bear that laid in the corner. Walking forward, Jongup soon crawled onto the bed and around Daehyun before taking Mister Buttons into his arms. Sitting down with his legs crossed, he held the Teddy bear tightly as he looked up at Seohyun. “Is big brother Daehyun hurt? Is that why he’s sleeping?” (JU)

Seohyun thought on it for a moment before she looked down at Daehyun. If Daehyun really was hurt, then they HAVE to tell the grown ups and bring Daehyun to the hospital. If it was something really bad and they didn’t do anything about it, then.. Daehyun could end up dying. Without a trace of hesitation, Seohyun began to check Daehyun’s person. She may not know a lot, but she can at least identify a cut or a bruise better than any of the other kids here. “Are you checking him?” (WH)

“Mhm..” (SH) It was always best to be safe. There had to be a reason that Daehyun fell unconscious, right? In movies, it was usually because they had gotten beaten up a lot, but Daehyun didn’t have many injuries on his person. Well.. she didn’t see that many. If that wasn’t the case, then what could it be? Sitting up once more, Seohyun looked at Daehyun as she tried to think. What else could knock a person unconscious?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With his victory finally played out, the adrenaline that had been felt was quickly drained. Young Jae was in his grasp and he had finally defeated Daehyun. Today just couldn’t get any better. All that needed to be done now was to regain his energy so that he could finally play with Young Jae however he wanted. Looking back over at Young Jae, Sungjong couldn’t help but grin once more as he eyed his new pet. “Yongguk! Watch him. I’m gonna take a nap.” (SJ)

Yongguk merely gave a thumbs up, letting Sungjong disappear into the back room. Getting up from his seat, Yongguk made his way over to Young Jae before sitting down on the couch a small distance away. Once he was comfortable, Yongguk looked over at Yuri and Zelo, whom were currently playing in the center of the room. He was rather happy to see Zelo having fun at the moment. Now that things had calmed down, maybe it would go back to normal. That would be nice for a change. The way Sungjong acted now had Yongguk a bit worried about the path that they were taking. Just because he was taking orders didn’t mean that he wasn’t trying to decide what was right and what was wrong.

His thoughts were quickly interrupted by a single sniffle. At first, Yongguk had little to no idea as to where the sniggling was coming from, however, the second sniffle soon caught his attention. His eyes landed on Young Jae, whom was innocently sitting in his seat while looking around the room. He was slightly rocking from left to right, his curiosity clearly on his face. Yongguk’s eyebrows furrowed once a third sniffle escaped Young Jae’s nose. “Can you stop doing that? It’s really annoying!” (BY)

Young Jae looekd over at Yongguk and frowned a bit as he turned his gaze downwards. It’s not like he was sniffling on purpose. With his hands unusable and no tissue nearby, Young Jae couldn’t exactly stop his sniffling. “I-I can’t..” (YJ)

“Why not?” (BY)

“I can’t wipe my nose..” (YJ) As if to make a point, Young Jae moved his arms a bit before the handcuffs restricted his movement once more. With an annoyed sigh, Yongguk dug through his pockets for a bit. Once he had the object that he was looking for, Yongguk moved closer to Young Jae before reaching up and covering Young Jae’s nose with the object. Young Jae whined a bit, though the familiar softness of the tissue quickly had him look over at Yongguk in confusion.

“Blow.” (BY) It took a moment, but once it finally clicked into his head, Young Jae blew his nose into the tissue. This process was repeated two, maybe three times, before Yongguk began wiping Young Jae’s nose. Young Jae furrowed his eyebrows and shut his eyes tightly as he whined a little. He probably had been moving his head around as well, considering the fact that Yongguk was now holding onto his head with a firm hold. It didn’t take all that long before Young Jae’s nose was nice and clean. In fact, Young Jae was surprised by how clear it felt as he happily breathed through his nose. “There.. now don’t sniffle anymore.” (BY)

Yongguk carefully balled up the tissue that had been used before setting it onto the nearby table. As he comfortably sat back in his seat, Young Jae looked over at Yongguk with a smile on his face. A bad guy wouldn’t have cleaned his nose for him, right? So maybe that meant that Yongguk was actually a good guy! “Thank you a lot!” (YJ)

His body froze for a moment before he looked at Young Jae’s smiling face. Why was he thanking him? Yongguk just didn’t want Young Jae to sniffle anymore and since he couldn’t let Young Jae free, Yongguk did what he usually did with Zelo. Though.. why was Young Jae smiling? Young Jae should be scared of him, but.. this might be better for Yongguk. After all, he didn’t want to seam mean or scary. It was just something that.. well, happened. “For what?” (BY)

“For wiping my nose for me! You’re super nice!” (YJ) Nice...? Yongguk always did try to be nice before all of this occurred. Did it work? No.. not really. Since Yongguk was usually shy around the other kids, the things he did always turned out to be awkward or creepy. Maybe this time would be different. No.. why would it be? Shaking those thoughts out of his head, Yongguk had looked off to the side when Young Jae’s voice caught his attention once more. “Are you a hero too?” (YJ)

A hero..? Yongguk turned to look at Yonug Jae, whom had a hopeful glint in his eyes. There was no way that he would be a hero. Heroes saved people and were liked by everyone they met except the villains. Yongguk was certain that he didn’t fit that description, so he shook his head before looking back at Zelo and Yuri. “No.. I’m not a hero.” (BY)

“But you seem like a hero..” (YJ) Yongguk didn’t understand why Young Jae thought he was a hero, but he didn’t think on it too much. In fact, Yongguk was busy wondering if.. they really could be friends. It may not seem like it, but Yongguk just wanted friends. The only reason he went with Sungjong was because he was the only other kid at the time that didn’t seem to care about his behavior.

Slowly, Yongguk moved closer to Young Jae while trying not to make it obvious. He would pause every now and then, making certain that Young Jae wouldn’t suspect a thing. Yongguk didn’t want to scare Young Jae away like all the other times. No. This time, he wanted to get to know Young Jae, but how was he supposed to do that? Once he finally came to a complete stop, he could practically feel Young Jae’s curious gaze on him. Who could blame him though? Yongguk had moved too close to Young Jae to the point that their arms were now pressed up against one another. “Um..” (YJ)

“Do you... maybe.. know Himchan?” (BY) Himchan? Young Jae thought for a moment before nodding. He may not have known Himchan that well, but Young Jae definitely knew the other kid. Heck, he even saw him as a friend, considering all the stuff that they’ve been through. Young Jae just wondered why Yongguk was asking specifically about him. “Do you.... know if he, uh... likes anyone?” (BY)

Information swirled around in his head as Young Jae tried to come up with the answer that Yongguk was looking for. He wanted to help, even if he didn’t know why Yongguk wanted information on Himchan. Sadly, Young Jae didn’t know Himchan well enough to know the answer to Yongguk’s question. With a small frown, Young Jae turned his head towards Yongguk. “I don’t know. I-I’m sorry..” (YJ)

“It’s okay. Um...” (BY) What was he supposed to say? How was he supposed to befriend someone else? Sure, he had been able to become friends with Yuri, Sungjong, and Sungyeol, but that was because Sungjong had spoken to him first. Now, though, he was the one trying to initiate the conversation. “Can we... be.. f-friends..?” (BY)

“Friends?” (YJ) Yongguk turned away as he furrowed his eyebrows a bit. A slight shade of pink creeped up on his cheeks, but he tried his best to hide his embarrassment. Taking in a deep breath, Yongguk gave a small nod. Young Jae’s eyes widened a bit as he smiled happily. “Okay! I wanna be your friend!” (YJ)

Zelo looked up at his older brother, his eyebrows furrowing as he puffed out his cheeks. He didn’t like that Yongguk was spending time with Young Jae instead of spending time with him. Zelo didn’t want to share his older brother with anyone and he wanted to do something about it. The second he saw that smile on Yongguk’s face, Zelo got to his feet and was about to walk over, when he felt a hand take hold of his wrist. Looking down, his eyes came into contact with Yuri’s as she shook her head. “Are you mad at Yongguk and Young Jae?” (Y)

“Yeah..! I don’t want Yongguk to spend too much time with anyone else..” (Z) Yuri thought for a moment before shaking her head. Zelo whined for a moment before sitting back down and picking up the action figure he had set on the floor before getting up. He wanted to get Yongguk back, but it seemed like Yuri didn’t want to let him. “Why can’t I get Yongguk back?” (Z)

“Look how happy he is..” (Y) Both of them looked back over at Yongguk and Young Jae, whom were currently talking to one another. Zelo pouted a bit. He didn’t necessarily understand what Yuri was talking about, considering Yongguk usually looked happy whenever they played together, but.. he decided to listen to Yuri.

“Um.. Why are you with mean people? You’re super nice..” (YJ) Usually, nice people were friends with other nice people. Then again, he didn’t personally know Sungyeol, Yuri, or Zelo. Sure, he didn’t really know Sungjong all that well either, but he didn’t really want to know him. After all of the things that they’ve been through, Young Jae just wanted to avoid Sungjong as much as possible.

“Because.. Sungjong was the only one who wanted to be my friend.” (BY) Young Jae frowned a bit as he looked at Yongguk. Was that really the reason behind it all? Would it be different this time though?

“T-Then, um... Why not be friends with Daehyun and everyone else? You’re my friend now and I think you would get along super well with everyone!” (YJ) Yongguk thought on Young Jae’s words, but he wasn’t necessarily certain about it. Although he didn’t approve of Sungjong’s actions now, they were still friends. He also didn’t want to just leave his current friends behind. It would have been better if they all could become friends, but he doubted that would work.

“I.. I don’t know. I have to think about it.” (BY)

“Oh.. Okay.” (YJ) Young Jae hummed happily to himself as he leaned against Yongguk a bit. He was just glad to have made a new friend, even if he was in this sort of situation. Though, a certain feeling down below was starting to grab his attention. Biting his bottom lip, Young Jae crossed one leg over the other as he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He wanted to go up and handle the problem himself, but he couldn’t do so with his current situation. What was he supposed to do? “Um..” (YJ)

“Hm? What is it?” (BY) Young Jae continued shifting uncomfortably in his seat, trying to hold back the pressure that wanted to desperately release itself. He didn’t want to tell Yongguk his problem, but he didn’t seem to have any other choice. Once he came to that conclusion, Young Jae looked at Yongguk with a bit of a desperate look on his face

“I-I have to go potty..” (YJ) Yongguk scratched the side of his head as he tried to think. He didn’t know if he was allowed to let Young Jae get up and use the bathroom. Yongguk would have gotten up to wake Sungjong to ask him about it, but he knew that Sungjong didn’t like being woken up. “I-I really have to go..!” (YJ)

“I don’t know if I can let you go though.. Um..” (BY) Yongguk looked around here and there, trying to find a different solution. What would be good to help Young Jae with his problem? From his experiences, there were a limited amount of things that could be used as a replacement, but none seemed to really catch his mind until.. “Oh! Will this work?” (BY)

Leaning forward a bit, Yongguk took hold of the empty bottle that sat on top of the table. Once it was in his hand, he sat back before looking at Young Jae and holding the battle out to him. Young Jae pursed his lips as he stared at the empty water bottle, trying to figure out what Yongguk was asking. “Um.. What do I do with that?” (YJ)

“You pee in it.” (BY) Young Jae’s eyes widened as he looked from Yongguk then back to the water bottle. He was supposed to pee in that?! But that was really gross! As much as he needed to use the bathroom, he didn’t want to pee into a water bottle where everyone can see what he was doing and what was inside of it!

“N-No! I don’t wanna.. I wanna use the bathroom!” (YJ) Yongguk rubbed the back of his head as he set the water bottle back onto the table. If Young Jae didn’t want to do that, then what else could be done? He could, technically, bring Young Jae to the bathroom, but again, Sungjong probably wouldn’t like that. The only thing they could do was wait until Sungjong woke up so that they could ask him.

“Can you hold it, then?” (BY)

“I-I can, but.. um.. I-I don’t know how long I can hold it for..” (YJ) Young Jae shifted in his seat once again as he bit his bottom lip. He felt like he was ready to burst, but there really isn’t anything that could be done at this moment. For now, he would just have to hope that Yongguk had some sort of idea as to how to relieve himself.

He just needed to not think about it. Yeah! Young Jae just needed to think about fun things to do like playing at the tree house or playing games with all of his friends. Even eating seemed like something to do, though that may be because his tummy was grumbling a little bit. Could one blame him, though? Young Jae didn’t get a chance to have breakfast before being taken, so he was fairly hungry at the moment.

While Young Jae was struggling with his problems, Yongguk looked over at Zelo. Maybe it would be possible to become friends with Daehyun and everyone else. He just needed to talk to everyone and tell them about it. It didn’t really make much sense to be fighting with everyone. In fact, it would be more fun if they could all play together. If only he could figure out how best to get everyone to get along with one another, then it would be possible.

Chapter 48: I swear this is like one of the best fanfic I have ever read. The childhood part was really interesting and nicely done, I wish you would detail some scenes but that's okay. And now... I don't know where you are going with this but I feel so excited. I am sad for Jin though because for the first time, he found someone important and yet, he lost it. That's so cruel you know. R. I. P Taehyung ~ ;-; Kyungsoo is a freaking bastard, hope he would end up in prison. Seungjong too! Feels like you are plotting something with him haha! Especially since he didn't get his revenge. Damn.... Daehyun will get to suffer again. X) about DaeJae, I love how slow you are making it. That's frustrating and sweet at the same time. And BangHim gosh, I want them to be together officially. But each time something interrupt them. X) is their couple going to be part of your plot or is it not that important? That's funny because I thought from the childhood that Himchan would have ended up with Sunny ~ By the way, that's been a long time we haven't seen her, is she going to make a cameo haha?
I also found it funny how Zelo and Jongup didn't like each other and how dependant Junhong seems to be towards Jongup when they both grew up haha! I actually laughed a lot when they bickered back then and now Junhong likes his hyung haha! Funny ~ Anyway I'm just going to end this review because I spent the last four nights reading these 48 chapters, I feel like I'm not making any sense anymore haha! Well, fighting for the next chapter, I am kind of excited to read it now! Fighting!!!!
