Why did he have to feel bad about something that he had no emotional attachments to? Well… at least, he shouldn’t have any emotional attachments to this group. It had been about four, maybe even five weeks since he met Jongup and his friends and he has only wanted to leave this job more and more. The frustrating part was the fact that he couldn’t just get what he wanted, so what else was he supposed to do? Run?

That was an option.

At least he wouldn’t have to do the deed himself, but then he might become responsible for an even worse fate. Did he want that thought constantly on his mind? Of course not. So, the only thing he could do was try to lessen the outcome as much as possible. It may not have completely solved the situation and Jongup and his friends will most likely still hate him, but it was all he could come up with.

With a heavy sigh, Taehyung forced a smile on his face as he walked into the building that had become the agreed upon meeting spot. Although he hadn’t exactly established a strong relationship with Jongup or Zelo, the plan has to be executed as soon as possible. Why? Well… it was because Young Jae was currently happy with how things were, or at least, that’s what Kyungsoo said. So, it was supposed to be their job to remind Young Jae that happiness comes with a price.

Looking around the store for a moment, Taehyung began to wonder if he was the first one there. It would’ve been a bit strange, considering the fact that he had shown up late, but maybe this was a sign to turn back now. Maybe he was supposed to come clean with everything and ensure Jongup and Zelo’s safety. Though… how was he supposed to do that?

If those two suddenly go missing, then Kyungsoo would have a fit. He MIGHT be happy if he were to see Daehyun and Yongguk stressing over their missing brothers, but it most likely won’t have the kind of effect that Kyungsoo wanted. Still… this could be a better answer than what he originally had planned. But then… would he have to come clean to Jongup and Zelo about everything? What if they didn’t believe him?

Just as he sighed once more, a tap on his shoulder quickly pulled Taehyung’s attention. Forcing a smile on his face, Taehyung turned around to see Jongup and Zelo. Although Jongup was smiling, Zelo had a look of suspicion on his face. Zelo had been suspecting him from day one, so if he ended up coming clean about this, then it would be hard to convince them to follow him to a safe area. “Hey there.” (V)

“You’re late.” (Z) A slight look of surprise appeared on Taehyung’s face as he adjusted his posture a bit. What did Zelo mean by that? Taehyung thought that he had gotten here before everyone else.

“Eh? I am? I thought I got here before you two.” (V)

“We got here a while ago. You walked past us at the front.” (JU) Taehyung was thoroughly confused at the moment, but he blamed the fact that he had ben lost in his thoughts lately. Well, since they’re all here, he won’t have to worry about waiting long for them to show up. Of course, that was the least of his worries anyway. “So… what are we doing?” (JU)

“Huh? Oh, uh… it’s a surprise. I’ll take us there.” (V)

“Really? Sounds exciting!” (JI) Taehyung turned a bit to see Jin, Baekhyun, and Jongin standing nearby. At first, he didn’t really know how to react to their presence. They had just shown up suddenly and for some reason, his mind couldn’t process the fact that there were now three additional people for this false hangout.

“Uh… what are you guys doing here?” (V)

“Jongup told us about it and we didn’t wanna miss all the fun!” (JI) Taehyung briefly glanced over at Jongup before looking back at Jin. Now what was he supposed to do?! No matter which plan he went with, he knew that it would be unwise to involve even more people. Still… maybe he could work with this little change.

“Well… alright. Let’s go to my car.” (V)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sitting in the garden while listening to the sound of the wind blowing and the water running a gentle stream, seemed to have brought some form of peace to him. It was usually what he needed to sort out his thoughts and figure out what he needed to do. This time, however, the answers that he was usually able to grasp just didn’t seem to come to him.Was it because the leaves haven't grown back yet? Probably not, but he usually came out here when it was spring or summer, not when it was nearing the end of winter. “What… to… do….” (YJ)

“Are you bored?” (TF) Young Jae jumped at the sound of Tiffany’s voice, his eyes wide as he stared at Tiffany and Hyosung from across the table. Thanks to his thoughts, he had somehow managed to forget that he was currently having tea with these two ladies. In a way, it was kind of impressive that he forgot, but that thought could be held off for the time being. It would be rather rude and offensive to mention something like that to them. “What? Did I scare you?” (TF)

“Me? Scared? Ahahaha…. Don’t be ridiculous.” (YJ)

“You looked plenty scared to me.” (HS) Young Jae probably would have given her a glare of some sort, but Tiffany had waved a cookie in their faces before setting a cookie on each of their plates. She already knew how Hyosung could be with her teasing and how Young Jae could be with his pride, so the best thing to do was to change the subject.

“It’s a rather nice day today. It’s not too cold.” (TF)

“It’s lovely indeed! I don’t have to wear so many layers today.” (HS) Hyosung took a sip of her tea before smiling contently. Being forced to wear many layers in order to keep warm has always been quite inconvenient to do, but it was better to be warm as opposed to remaining cold the entire day. Though, that wasn’t that much of a problem. It was just a matter of whenever she had to shed a few of those layers when it got too hot. Could things just not be simple?

“Ah…! I know. Let’s do something nice today. I have been meaning to try a recipe that I stumbled upon and it would be fun for us all to try it out! What do you think?” (TF) Young Jae thought on the idea for a moment, but so far, there weren’t any cons to it. If anything, it could potentially get him away from any of his thoughts. “We should invite Daehyun and Yongguk too. He’s been working hard to get your grades up, right? I heard from Yongguk that you’ve really boosted your grades!” (TF)

“D-Daehyun…?” (YJ)

“Hmm?! Is something wrong with that?” (HS) Young Jae stared at Hyosung for a moment before shaking his head. When Hyosung and Tiffany began talking about what was needed for the recipe, Young Jae turned his gaze towards his tea. Would that be alright? Yes, he has had doubts every now and then, but he remained quiet for the time being. He knew that he wanted to be with Daehyun, but he also knew that he wanted to make his mother happy.

Maybe… he should listen to Daehyun and actually talk to his mother.

Daehyun had come to him some time ago and asked him if it was possible to talk to his mother about the possibility to cancel the marriage. At first, Young Jae wasn’t so sure if that was a good idea or not. Sure, he was starting to think it was a good idea, but he still wasn’t sure. Would it be better to take it up with Tiffany first? Would she understand or… would she be against it?

Looking up at Tiffany, Young Jae stared for a moment as Tiffany returned his gaze. She merely gave a brief smile before turning her attention back towards Hyosung, but he couldn’t help but feel that maybe it would be worth a shot with Tiffany. After all, she has been his closest friend ever since he left the Orphanage to live here. She would be able to understand his feelings better than anyone else.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“How long are we going to be gone?” (JU) He thought that they were simply going to the mall, but the fact that they were leaving the town had Jongup very confused. A few of the others seemed to have the same thoughts, but Jin told them otherwise. He usually said something along the lines of it being an adventure and that they should give it a chance to see where they end up. Jongup, however, wanted to at least know how long they would be gone.

“Uh… Don’t rush things! I mean, time flies when we’re having fun, right?” (V)

“Right! So just relax and wait patiently, Uppie!” (JI) Jin adjusted his position as he looked out the window. Jongup let out a sigh as he pulled out his phone. It should be alright as long as Daehyun knew that they were leaving town for a bit, right? At least this way, Daehyun won’t have to worry about him for the time being.

Looking through his contacts, Jongup pressed Daehyun’s name before putting the phone up to his ear. He waited patiently for Daehyun to pick up his phone, but before he could do so, the car came to an abrupt stop. Gasps and complaints escaped from each of the males as they each turned towards Taehyung, whom had pulled out a bag and set it in the middle. “Hey! No phones, calls, or texts! Everything has to be a surprise or else it won’t be any fun.” (V)

“What is this, prison? Why do we have to give up our phones?” (K) Taehyung looked at each one of them, though he had no idea what kind of other excuse he could give. It’s not like they could make any calls to figure out where they’re going and it’s not like they’re going to be able to look it up ahead of time anyway. Still… he couldn’t let anyone know where they were or where they were going to.

“Hey! Don’t question it! Maybe it’s a game. Exciting, right? Let’s put our phones away and see what he has planned.” (JI) Jin took his phone out before putting his phone into the bag with little to no hesitation. The others were a bit hesitant, but they decided to do it as well. After Taehyung had counted the phones, he put his bag on the ground before the drive began again.

Baekhyun adjusted his position a bit as he leaned against Jongin. Jongin looked at Baekhyun for a brief moment before looking towards the ground. He couldn’t help but hold a small smile as he leaned in a little more towards Baekhyun. Baekhyun looked at Jongin, a bit curious about why Jongin had leaned more against him, though he didn’t have a problem with it. “Hey! Baekhyun! Do you have anything to eat?” (JI)

“Eat? Uh… No…? Why would I have food?” (BH)

“Dunno. Was kinda hoping.” (JI) Jin chuckled a bit as he adjusted his position. He couldn’t help but at least hope that someone had food. None of them had the chance to eat yet, but then again, Taehyung had purchased quite a lot of groceries before they left town. So, based on that bit of information, Jin could only assume that they were going on a picnic of sorts. It would be rather interesting, considering the fact that he’s never had a picnic before. “Taehyung! We’re going on a picnic, right? That’s why you wanna keep it a surprise?” (JI)

“Huh? Oh… uh… yeah… A picnic.” (V) Taehyung knew that his answer wasn’t convincing at all, but if it meant that they would be less suspicious of where they were going, then it was well worth it. As long as he kept his calm and didn’t give away anything, then maybe this would all work out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“What’s wrong?” (YJ) Young Jae leaned in a little towards Daehyun as he looked at Daehyun’s cell phone screen. Daehyun had received a call just a brief moment ago, but all Daehyun heard was the sound of the phone falling as well as the sounds of people talking. Then, after that, the call came to an end.

“Uh… nothing I guess. Maybe Jongup accidentally called me.” (DH) Daehyun wondered what that had been about, but he merely shrugged his shoulders as he put his phone away. Looking back up, he could see Tiffany going about here and there to gather ingredients with Hyosung following close by. He didn’t necessarily understand why he had to come along as well, but he wasn’t really complaining about it. “So why, exactly, won’t you tell me why I came along?” (DH)

“It’s a… a surprise! Yeah… a surprise.” (YJ)

“Then why did I have to come too?” (BY) Young Jae looked at Yongguk, whom was currently walking next to him as well. Tiffany had suggested inviting Yongguk and considering the fact that it was his day off, it seemed like the perfect idea to Tiffany. Yongguk didn’t seem to have any objections to it, but he was still curious about things like this.

“It’s a surprise too! Stop questioning it. Anyway, let’s catch up to Tiffany and Hyosung.” (YJ) Young Jae quickened his pace in an attempt to get away from the constant questioning. He knew that Daehyun and Yongguk were smarter than to fall for the ‘it’s a surprise’ excuse, but he didn’t really know what to say either. At least this way, he would be able to have them stick around without feeling either awkward or cocky about the whole thing.

“How about this thing?” (HS)

“That’s not garlic. Those are onions.” (TF)

“What’s the difference…?” (HS) As Tiffany explained the difference, Young Jae brought the cart to a stop before listening in on the explanation. Of course, he immediately lost interest the second he realized what they were talking about. It wasn’t exactly all that interesting to learn about something he already knew about, so his eyes ended up wandering around.

Unknown to him, however, two people had been plotting something. He didn’t realize that these two people could potentially turn on him and cause something a bit embarrassing. Of course, it wasn’t like they wanted to hurt him or anything. They just decided that it would be a little fun just to mess with Young Jae a little bit. Since he wasn’t telling them anything, it seemed like the perfect time to do so.

Slowly creeping up to Young Jae from behind, the two were trying their best not to laugh or make any sort of sound that would alert Young Jae of their presence. When they were certain that he wouldn’t notice, one of the two quickly reached out and tickled Young Jae’s sides. In that instant, Young Jae jumped forward as he let out a rather loud yelp, pushing the cart forward in the process and causing it to bump into the produce shelf.

There were stares here and there, but for the most part, it hadn’t been that crowded of a grocery store to begin with. Young Jae could feel his cheeks and ears burning with embarrassment as he took hold of the cart and pulled it near him. Turning around with furrowed eyebrows, he saw and heard both Daehyun and Yongguk laughing from a safe distance. “What are you two doing?!” (YJ)

“We’re just messing with you.” (BY)

“Sorry, Young Jae! Couldn’t resist!” (DH) Young Jae puffed out his cheeks before turning around and walking away with the cart. Tiffany shook her head, though she couldn’t help but smile as she followed after Young Jae. She was happy to see that Young Jae had other friends who were close enough to mess around with him without pushing it too far. Considering the fact that Young Jae seemed to usually be closed off to everyone but his mother, her, and Yongguk ever since he had moved here, it was nice to see him open up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So you want the groceries in… there?” (K) The group of men all stared at the cellar that Taehyung had opened up. It looked like it was well maintained, but the part that confused them was the fact that they were bringing the groceries into the cellar as opposed to the upper portion of the cabin. Unless the kitchen was downstairs, it made more sense to keep everything downstairs.

“Uh… yeah! Everything has to go downstairs. Don’t worry! It’s furnished and everything, so it’ll be like act more like the living room than the living room itself.” (V) Simple nods and shrugs were exchanged here and there as they each started moving. If it was as nice as Taehyung said, then there was no reason to doubt the cellar anymore.

Seeing everyone’s reactions and how they seemed to comply, Taehyung let out a relieved sigh as he began helping them. All he needed to do was get them all inside at once with all of the things he bought, and then he had to lock them inside. The doors of this place were all solid wood since this had originally been built as a disaster shelter. It may or may not be able to protect against a bomb attack, but it will most definitely keep them inside.

Going inside, the group looked around as they followed Taehyung towards the kitchen. They were surprised by how nice the place looked and they weren’t afraid to show how amazed they were by it. The second the groceries were placed into the kitchen, half of the group went to look around while the other half went to go obtain the remaining groceries.

If he timed it right, Taehyung could lock everyone inside without them suspecting a thing until it was too late. Within the cellar, or rather, the basement, there was television, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms. There was also electricity and plenty of games for everyone to use, so they shouldn’t feel the need to escape… at least for a little while.

After all of the groceries had been transported from the bag to the kitchen, Taehyung waited nervously by the entrance of the cellar for everyone to be inside. The house itself is completely locked, so he didn’t have to worry about them getting out through there. It was all a matter of how well he could get away with this that was getting him nervous. “Hey. You okay?’ (JI)

“Huh? Oh, uh…” (V) Taehyung rubbed the back of his neck as he avoided Jin’s gaze. Jin narrowed his eyelids a bit as he leaned forward to get a better look. When he was close enough, Jin stared for a moment or so before taking hold of Taehyung’s wrist and pulling the male out of the cellar. “H-Hey! What are you doing?” (V)

Jin ignored Taehyung’s question as he led him off to the side. When he was certain that they were no longer within earshot of anyone, Jin finally released Taehyung from his hold before turning to face him. Taking in a deep breath, Jin put his hands on Taehyung’s shoulders before looking him straight into his eyes. “You’re madly in love with me and you were too nervous to say anything, so you were trying to work up your courage to confess. Right?” (JI)

“Wha-… What?! What are you talking about?!” (V) Taehyung had a look of disbelief on his face as they stared at one another. However, Jin couldn’t keep a straight face as he soon burst out laughing. Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows as he shoved Jin away before dusting himself off. “What are you doing?” (V)

“Trying to get you to lighten up! You had such a serious look, almost like you were going to cry.” (JI) Taehyung scoffed as he leaned on his right leg and looked away. There was no way that he had that kind of look on his face. Sure, he was a little stressed over everything, but it’s not like he was going to cry over it. “So… what’s wrong? Wanna talk about it?” (JI)

Taehyung briefly glanced at Jin before looking over at the nearby tree. Should he say anything? Would they believe him and go with his plan? He didn’t want them getting hurt because of his idiocy, but he knew that they would think he’s a bad man if he just locked them up. Though… maybe it’ll be worth it as long as they stayed locked up in the cellar. Then again, maybe they wouldn’t ever trust him if he didn’t tell them. “I… have something to say. Will you trust me?” (V)

“Uh… sure. What is it?” (JI) Jin could see just how serious Taehyung was, so he wanted to at least see what he had to say. Maybe it was a confession to being a secret agent or maybe he was going to confess his attraction towards someone. What if he was in love with his cousin?! Jin definitely wouldn’t know how to react to someone being in love with their cousin!

“… I want to lock you guys up in my cellar to protect you from my boss that wants to hurt Jongup and Zelo because he wants to hurt Young Jae indirectly.” (V) Well… that was part of what he had been expecting, though what he had been expecting were all jokes. However, seeing the seriousness in Taehyung’s eyes made it quite evident that he wasn’t lying about it.

“I… uh… wow. Really?” (JI)

“… Yeah… really.” (V) Jin hummed a little bit as he folded his arms. He was surprised that Taehyung had just admitted to doing something bad, but maybe this wasn’t a trap or a trick or a joke. He has watched maybe a few too many movies, but in most movies, the ‘villain’ who always tells their plans always end up not being believed and thus, even more problems arise because of it. So… maybe it would be a good thing to trust Taehyung this time.

“So… that’s why you bought so much food. Do you need any help? Maybe we can help.” (JI) Taehyung wondered if Jin really did believe him, but he didn’t have much time left to ponder it. It was probably best to take his chances and hope that Jin would be the aide that he needed in this type of situation.

“Just… keep everyone there. You, Baekhyun, and Jongin don’t have to be there, but maybe you guys can keep Jongup and Zelo safe while you’re locked up in there. Can you do that?” (V) jin grinned as he give a thumbs up before walking towards the cellar. He paused for a brief moment as he looked at Taehyung once more.

“You’re gonna lock us up in there, right?” (JI)

“… Yeah, but um… maybe you can do it. The lock can be placed on either side, so… do you want it? Just in case you have to get out or… something.” (V) Jin thought for a moment before nodding. Taehyung smiled a bit as he took the two locks and keys from his coat pocket before holding it out to Jin. “Here. I… have to go back to my boss and tell him something. Be careful… okay?” (V)

“Don’t worry about it! I got everything under control.” (JI) Taehyung smiled once more before he went to his car and started it up. Jin waited until Taehyung had driven off before he made his way back into the cellar. Closing the cellar doors, Jin stared at one of the locks for a moment before taking the lock and closing it through the cellar handles. He quickly placed the other lock and the keys into his coat pocket before turning around and making his way down.

Hopefully… he was placing his trust in the right person.

Chapter 48: I swear this is like one of the best fanfic I have ever read. The childhood part was really interesting and nicely done, I wish you would detail some scenes but that's okay. And now... I don't know where you are going with this but I feel so excited. I am sad for Jin though because for the first time, he found someone important and yet, he lost it. That's so cruel you know. R. I. P Taehyung ~ ;-; Kyungsoo is a freaking bastard, hope he would end up in prison. Seungjong too! Feels like you are plotting something with him haha! Especially since he didn't get his revenge. Damn.... Daehyun will get to suffer again. X) about DaeJae, I love how slow you are making it. That's frustrating and sweet at the same time. And BangHim gosh, I want them to be together officially. But each time something interrupt them. X) is their couple going to be part of your plot or is it not that important? That's funny because I thought from the childhood that Himchan would have ended up with Sunny ~ By the way, that's been a long time we haven't seen her, is she going to make a cameo haha?
I also found it funny how Zelo and Jongup didn't like each other and how dependant Junhong seems to be towards Jongup when they both grew up haha! I actually laughed a lot when they bickered back then and now Junhong likes his hyung haha! Funny ~ Anyway I'm just going to end this review because I spent the last four nights reading these 48 chapters, I feel like I'm not making any sense anymore haha! Well, fighting for the next chapter, I am kind of excited to read it now! Fighting!!!!
