Why was it that when one grew up, life only seemed to become more difficult? Why couldn’t things stay simple, no matter what stage of life a person was at? Though… maybe it was best this way. With each obstacle that was thrown their way, if they managed to overcome it, then it would better prepare them for more surprises that life may throw their way. At least with the right aid, it would make these obstacles much more easier to overcome.

Entering the main room, the full sound of music hit the trio as they stood by the entrance. Mostly everyone within the room were still enjoying the party, unaware of the troubles that seemed to be brewing by a select few. With a small smile, Daehyun turned towards Woohyun and Young Jae. “Thanks for the help.” (DH)

“Take it easy. You’re at a party after all.” (WH) Woohyun gave Daehyun’s shoulder a quick pat on the back before he made his way back to the table. Daehyun had expected Young Jae to follow after Woohyun, but Young Jae had a sort of determined look on his face that said otherwise.

“I’ll stick with you until you go home.” (YJ)

“Thanks. So, uh… what do you want to do now?” (DH) Young Jae folded his arms as he tried to think. What would be the best thing for them to do now? They could always eat more, but that was kind of boring. Drinking was clearly not an option either, considering what had occurred not that long ago. So… all that was left was either to talk off to the side or to go onto the dance floor. Of course, before he could voice either option, another voice quickly interrupted their conversation.

“Yoohoo! Young Jae dearie.” (MY) Both males turned to see Young Jae’s mother walking in their direction. Once she came to a stop, she looked at Daehyun for a brief moment before looking at Young Jae. “I must talk with your friend!” (MY)

Young Jae gave just a brief nod before his mother quickly turned to Daehyun. Daehyun was rather surprised that Young Jae's mother, of all people, wanted to talk to him. He did, of course, recall her from the Orphanage. She may have gotten older, but she was still just as pretty as he had remembered her to be. “Are you the young man that brought this beautiful bouquet of flowers?” (MY)

Both men looked down at the bouquet that Hanbi was now currently holding. While Young Jae’s eyes widened, Daehyun looked back up at Hanbi before giving a small smile and nodding. “Yes ma’am. I brought that bouquet.” (DH)

“Oh, you did? Good! Then, who is the recipient? There doesn’t seem to be a card of sorts on here.” (MY) A brief hint of panic crossed through Daehyun’s face as he tried to come up with something to respond with. Hanbi, luckily, didn’t notice this, but Young Jae did. When an answer came to his head, Daehyun smiled as he calmly spoke.

“It’s for you, ma’am. It’s a thank you for adopting Young Jae all those years ago.” (DH) Hanbi instantly smiled with joy as she hugged the bouquet a little more, like most mothers would with their newborn child.

“Oh my! Why thank you! It’s such a lovely bouquet. Young Jae, you have such a sweet friend here.” (MY) Hanbi raised the bouquet as she turned to leave. However, she paused for a brief moment before pulling out one of the flowers and handing it to Young Jae. “Here you go dear. I know that this is your favorite flower too.” (MY)

“Moom…” (YJ) Despite sounding like he was whining, Young Jae couldn’t help but smile as he happily took the flower into his hand. With a smile and a nod of her head, Hanbi soon left the two alone once more. Looking down at the flower, Young Jae was glad to have it and all, but… he didn’t exactly want to hold onto it the entire night. He knew that if he held onto it, it was going to end up getting ruined somehow, so he either had to put it in his room or leave it somewhere.

As if to bring an answer to his dilemma, Daehyun took the flower from Young Jae’s hand before spinning it around delicately in his hand. Young Jae stared at it for a moment before looking up at Daehyun in slight realization. “Was that bouquet… really for my mom?” (YJ)

Daehyun looked at the flower in his hand, a sort of sad smile on his face as memories ran through his head. When he finally pulled himself from those memories, Daehyun looked up at Young Jae and held his smile as he reached up and carefully tucked the stem into Young Jae’s hair and behind his ear. He carefully traced Young Jae’s ear with his fingers tips, sending all sorts of chills down Young Jae’s spine, before Daehyun put his hand firmly on Young Jae’s shoulder, making eye contact in the process. “Don’t worry about it.” (DH)

The second his fingers slipped away from Young Jae’s shoulder, Daehyun turned and began making his way towards the dance floor. Young Jae stared for a brief moment, a bit taken by surprise by Daehyun’s actions, before he furrowed his eyebrows and folded his arms. What did he mean by that?! Did that mean that the bouquet wasn’t for his mom? Why couldn’t Daehyun just give him a straight answer?! Letting out an irritated groan, Young Jae followed after Daehyun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everything seemed to be so… complicated. He had hoped that things would sort itself out, but so far, it just seemed to be tangling itself up even more so than usual. Unlike some people, Baekhyun had definitely been paying attention to what was going on. He was only about a table or two away, so it was relatively easy for him to spot Kyungsoo. Of course… he couldn’t exactly say anything to him. He knew that Kyungsoo didn’t like interacting with him in public, but that didn’t exactly mean that he was going to be okay with Kyungsoo practically throwing himself at Daehyun. He wasn’t happy with this, but he couldn’t say anything about it.

Then again, he could always be the one to end the relationship. It’s not like they were necessarily tied to one another or anything, but… Baekhyun didn’t want it to end yet. As odd as it may seem, Baekhyun had… well, fallen for Kyungsoo. It was difficult to just end the relationship despite already seeing it falling downhill. Maybe if he had a little more time, then he could get used to the idea of not being with Kyungsoo anymore. After all… it already seemed like Kyungsoo was looking to move on, so why couldn’t he do the same thing?

“What’s wrong?” (JI) Baekhyun jumped in his seat, his eyes widening as he quickly looked up at Jin. Jin blinked a few times in confusion as he sat down next to Baekhyun, waiting for Baekhyun to respond to his question. After a few seconds had passed, Baekhyun let out a small sigh as he slouched in his seat once more, setting his elbows on the table while letting his chin rest in the palm of his hands.

“I hoped that my boyfriend would love me if I dated him long enough, but… I don’t think he does.” (BH) Jin frowned as he rubbed the back of his neck. He didn’t exactly know how to help with dating troubles, especially with one where it seemed like one wasn’t falling for the other. The only thing he could think of was to move on and forget about the other person, but he didn’t think it would be as easy as it sounded. “What do you think I should do?” (BH)

“Uh...” (JI) Jin had a sort of distorted look on his face as he tried to figure out what to say. He didn’t want to end up being the cause behind making their dating problems even worse, but he also didn’t like the predicament that Baekhyun seemed to find himself in. If he was in a relationship where it seemed to be one sided, then it didn’t exactly sound like a nice relationship to be in. “I think that… you should leave him. It sounds better to do… I think.” (JI)

Baekhyun slowly nodded as he considered Jin’s words. If even Jin thought that was the best thing to do, then maybe it really was something he should do. So… for now, he would just give himself time to get used to the idea. Once he felt like he was ready, then he would end things with Kyungsoo. With a small smile, Baekhyun looked back up at Jin. “Thanks for the help.” (BH)

“No problem! Anything for a friend, right?” (JI) Jin grinned as he gave Baekhyun’s shoulder a comforting squeeze before placing his hands on the table and folding then. “I’ll keep you company, yeah?” (JI)

“Um… Yeah, okay.” (BH) Baekhyun couldn’t help but have a sort of embarrassed look on his face as he looked down at his lap. He hadn’t exactly expected anyone else to necessarily care all too much about his dating problems, but he was grateful. It was nice to have someone around to at least give him some sort of attention while he was coping with his problems. He knew Jin was a good friend and he was just glad to have his company.

Waiting for the perfect moment was always important, but always difficult. One couldn’t just go up to that person and just flat out tell them what it was that they wanted to tell them. They had to wait until they were alone and in an area that was suitable before confessing their feelings. Of course… these perfect moments also needed just enough courage to act because without that courage, then these moments would only end up going to waste.

Sadly, that’s exactly what has occurred with Sungyeol.

Sungyeol has been waiting for these moments since childhood and sadly, each and every time, he couldn’t draw up the courage to confess. These feelings that he’s held within him has been waiting time and time again to be released and hopefully, today would be the day for them to be released.

He has been watching Taeyeon almost this entire time, in a hopefully non-creepy way, and it seemed like that perfect moment has finally arisen. Jessica and Myungsoo had gotten up to go dance, leaving Taeyeon all alone at the table. Sure, there were people that came up to her here and there, but those people would end up leaving soon after. Now was the perfect opportunity to do it. If he didn’t do it now, then he was certain that he would never be able to talk to her ever again. Considering their different statuses, Sungyeol just wasn’t certain that he would find any other opportunity.

Since Taeyeon was currently alone now, Sungyeol had to act. Taking in a deep breath, Sungyeol hesitantly got to his feet before he began to weakly walk over to Taeyeon’s table.

The second he came even within five feet of Taeyeon, Sungyeol’s feet were already trying to carry him away once more. Maybe he really couldn’t do what he had hoped to do after all. It just seemed like it was impossible for them to work things out. Sure, there were some celebrities out there who had a non-celebrity spouse, but the chances of that working out seemed fairly slim to him. Before he could turn and run though, a heavenly voice called out to him, causing him to freeze up and stare into the pair of eyes that seemed to be staring back at him. “Sungyeol! What are you standing around for? Come and sit.” (TY)

His eyes traced downwards, honing in on Taeyeon’s hand as she pulled the chair out that was next to her before patting the seat of the chair. Sungyeol’s eyes widened as he quickly nodded and shuffled over to the seat. Quickly sitting in it, he cleared his throat as he held the bottom portion of his seat between his legs. Leaning forward, Sungyeol attempted to hold a calm look on his face as his cheeks reddened. “Sunggie~! What kind of look is that? Relax a little and tell me how you’ve been doing.” (TY)

This was it! This was the moment for him to just flat out confess his true feelings to Taeyeon. It had to be the perfect moment, right? No, wait! It had to be nicer looking and less awkward, but was it awkward? Sungyeol just couldn’t help but feel like he was in the greatest place ever, but was it the same for Taeyeon? Maybe he should wait for a different time, maybe even take Taeyeon somewhere that was romantic enough to confess. “Sungyeol? Helllooo?” (TY)

Sungyeol blinked a few times as he saw something briefly flash in front of his face about once or twice. Turning to look at Taeyeon, he stared for a moment before his eyes widened and he looked forward once more. “I-I-I’ve been doing good! Real good! Super good! I know I’ve been good!” (S)

Taeyeon chuckled a little as she moved her seat a little closer to Sungyeol. The second Sungyeol noticed this, he sat up straighter and closed his legs as he placed his hands tightly onto his knees. Taeyeon leaned against the table, setting one elbow onto the table as she rested her chin within the palm of her hand. “Okay, I get it. You’ve been doing good. What else have you been up to since we last saw each other?” (TY)

“I, um… uh…” (S) What was he supposed to say in response to that?! He merely worked at a pharmacy and nothing else. There wasn’t really much he could think of that would impress Taeyeon enough to woo her off of her feet. Still, he couldn’t lie. He knew that people didn’t like liars judging by the drama’s, shows, movies, etc. that he’s watched. “I, um… I’ve been working as a pharmacist for a few years now…” (S)

“Wow, really? It must be difficult. Even though you’re working so hard, I’m glad that you haven’t changed.” (TY) Sungyeol’s face reddened, if it wasn’t already, as he seemed to only stiffen even more. That was a compliment, right? Wait. Had he really not changed since the last time they saw each other? Did that mean that he wasn’t as manly as he had hoped to seem? That didn’t matter now! He just had to somehow make it through this conversation.

“Y-Yes! I… uh… What have you been up to?” (S) That’s the best question he could come up with?! Even HE knew the answer to that! Why? Well, he was a huge fan of Taeyeon and Jessica’s duo group, so he already knew about every song, commercial, fan meeting, concerts, etc. that had occurred. Heck, most of his money went to purchasing their goods and attending their concerts, shows, and fan meetings! Of course, he couldn’t exactly leave the country for their overseas schedules, but that was alright. Fancams were always a nice way to get over that boundary… even if they weren’t always the most stable.

“I’ve been working hard, but… it’s difficult sometimes.” (TY) Sungyeol instantly noticed the sort of dejected tone in Taeyeon’s voice. Was it truly that difficult as a singer? Well yes, Sungyeol had at least some knowledge as to what a celebrity had to go through, but he had to wait and hear exactly what Taeyeon had to experience.

“Why?” (S) Taeyeon looked up at Sungyeol, whom had finally seemed to relax due to his curiosity. She gave a small smile as she tucked her hair behind her ear. It wouldn’t hurt to reminisce, right?

“To tell you the truth, I miss those days at the orphanage when we were all carefree and all still close friends. I still even remember catching you spying through the door to listen to me and Jessica sing. Remember?” (TY) Taeyeon chuckled a bit as she playfully pushed Sungyeol’s arm slightly. Sungyeol gave a nervous laugh, his eyes looking here and there in an attempt to find some sort of way to change the topic so that he didn’t end up looking like a creep. Sure, he technically still had those traits, but at least he wasn’t one of those crazed fans who would follow a celebrity they liked back to their hotels nor would he try so hard to break into their dorm rooms. Nope. He knew the boundaries that were never meant to be crossed and he would continue making certain not to cross those boundaries.

“Y-Yeah… I remember, but uh… I was cool as a kid, right…?” (S) This instantly produced a giggle from Taeyeon, which worried Sungyeol. He had always wanted to look cool in Taeyeon’s eyes and, well, judging by her reaction to his question, it didn’t seem like it worked that entirely well.

“Yes, you were very cool indeed, Sungyeol. You still are.” (TY) Taeyeon gave Sungyeol’s arm a warm squeeze; to which caused him to instantly sit up once more. Taeyeon looked around for a brief moment while Sungyeol attempted to calm himself down, her eyes watching the dancers on the dance floor for a brief moment before she turned her attention back to Sungyeol.

Dancing was nice, but talking to a good friend was always better.

“Look at all the cute boys in this place!” (HS) Hyosung’s eyes were completely lit up with excitement as she looked around the main room. There were definitely a lot of hot guys in the building and she wanted to test each and every one of them to see if they were possibly ‘the one’. Of course, her eyes were still set on hopefully winning Kyungsoo over, but she did need a backup plan if that didn’t end up working out like she hoped.

“Just because they’re cute doesn’t always make them a good person.” (TF) Hyosung briefly glanced at Tiffany before looking back out at all the possibly available men. She knew what her best friend was trying to say and, well, it would have worked if Tiffany wasn’t already engaged.

“Easy for you to say. You got lucky and got engaged to the guy that’s practically perfect for you! Now… help me pick out a good man.” (HS) As she looked around, her eyes soon noticed the empty chair on the other side of Tiffany. Now that she thought about it, that certain somebody whom had been mentioned just a second ago was nowhere to be seen. “Hey. Speaking of, where’s Young Jae anyway?” (HS)

“He’s keeping an eye on his friend since Kyungsoo is targeting him.” (TF) Targeting his friend? Hyosung probably would have questioned it, but her attention was turned back to the people in the room. “Hm… What about him? He seems like a good man.” (TF)

Hyosung looked over to where Tiffany was pointing before shaking her head as she stared at the man in disgust. “Are you crazy?! Everyone knows that he sleeps with practically anything with a skirt! I even heard that he forced himself on someone and since his father is filthy rich, he got out of the lawsuit easily. It’s ridiculous. There has to be SOMEONE here that’s good! Can’t you introduce me to someone here?” (HS)

“This is Young Jae’s party, remember? The people here were invited either by him or by his mom. You’d have to ask Young Jae, Yongguk or Zelo to introduce you. Until theeen… What about…” (TF) Just as Tiffany was about to point at another random person, Woohyun had shown up to take his seat. Tiffany’s eyes lit up a bit as she pointed at Woohyun. “What about him?” (TF)

Both girls looked up at Woohyun as he eyed them suspiciously. What exactly were they talking about? Woohyun wasn’t entirely certain that finding out would be safe, but it was better than being taken by surprise… depending on certain circumstances. Once he was completely seated, Woohyun moved aside the now clean plate in front of him before taking hold of his drink.

While Woohyun looked away and took a sip of his drink, Hyosung hummed quietly to herself as she examined Woohyun. Well, he was pretty cute and from what she could see, he seemed to know how to dress just enough for her to approve of his wardrobe. Leaning a bit closer to Tiffany, Hyosung giggled a bit as she folded her hands and placed them on the table. When she spoke, she made certain to speak low enough for only Tiffany to hear her, though it wasn’t that hard with the music currently playing along with the chatter all around them. “He seems… decent enough. What should I say?” (HS)

“Just ask him! It’s not like he’ll bite or anything.” (TF)

“You think he’ll bite if I ask?” (HS)

“Hyosung!” (TF) Tiffany gave an embarrassed giggle as she moved away from Hyosung in an attempt to hide her slowly reddening face. Luckily, the lights were dimmed to allow the strobe lights to protrude better, so she didn’t have to worry too much about people seeing her embarrassed. While she was worried about that, Hyosung turned her attention back towards Woohyun.

“Hey! Are you single and interested? What do you say? How about you and me go on a date and see how we hit it off. Deal?” (HS) The second Woohyun let out a sort of chuckle, Hyosung instantly narrowed her eyelids and furrowed her eyebrows as she leaned in a little closer. “What’s so funny?!” (HS)

“Nothing, nothing. I’m interested in someone else, so… sorry.” (WH) Hyosung let out a small huff as she leaned back in her seat in disappointment. Well, there goes one cute guy off the list. It should be alright though. There were still plenty of other guys she could hook up with! It was just a matter of trial and error.

“Well, can you introduce me to a good person then?” (HS) Woohyun was fairly certain that he was the wrong person to ask in terms of introducing someone for a possible date. There was nothing that said that he was the correct person to talk to and, well, he isn’t even currently dating anyone at the moment.

“Well… what are you looking for?” (WH) Hyosung’s eyes instantly lit up once more as she sat up and leaned forward, resting her arms on the table while folding her hands. She felt like this was the best opportunity to get the man of her dreams and she wasn’t going to let it slip from her grasp!

“Well, I would love a man whose funny, smart, kind, caring, and who is super y! Oh and rich.” (HS) Woohyun chuckled yet again, causing Hyosung to repeat her actions from before. However, before she could ask what was so funny, Woohyun spoke up first.

“I don’t think I can find a guy like that for you. The only rich guys I know are Young Jae and Kyungsoo. It’d be easier for you to just go up and talk to one of the guys here as opposed to waiting liking Cinderella.” (WH) Hyosung pouted as she leaned back in her chair and looked back around the room. A perfectly good idea seemed to have just flown out the window, only to be replaced by one that seemed rather… well, difficult. “Well? Go ahead.” (WH)

“Hold your pants, Mister speedy mcspeedersten!” (HS) Hyosung folded her arms as she tried to think about which path she should follow. It did seem much faster to just go ahead and talk to the men whom interested her, but on the other hand, it was much easier to let someone else do it for her, but she wouldn’t be able to tell if they were good until she actually met them.

Everything just seemed to be far more difficult than it should be.

Chapter 48: I swear this is like one of the best fanfic I have ever read. The childhood part was really interesting and nicely done, I wish you would detail some scenes but that's okay. And now... I don't know where you are going with this but I feel so excited. I am sad for Jin though because for the first time, he found someone important and yet, he lost it. That's so cruel you know. R. I. P Taehyung ~ ;-; Kyungsoo is a freaking bastard, hope he would end up in prison. Seungjong too! Feels like you are plotting something with him haha! Especially since he didn't get his revenge. Damn.... Daehyun will get to suffer again. X) about DaeJae, I love how slow you are making it. That's frustrating and sweet at the same time. And BangHim gosh, I want them to be together officially. But each time something interrupt them. X) is their couple going to be part of your plot or is it not that important? That's funny because I thought from the childhood that Himchan would have ended up with Sunny ~ By the way, that's been a long time we haven't seen her, is she going to make a cameo haha?
I also found it funny how Zelo and Jongup didn't like each other and how dependant Junhong seems to be towards Jongup when they both grew up haha! I actually laughed a lot when they bickered back then and now Junhong likes his hyung haha! Funny ~ Anyway I'm just going to end this review because I spent the last four nights reading these 48 chapters, I feel like I'm not making any sense anymore haha! Well, fighting for the next chapter, I am kind of excited to read it now! Fighting!!!!
