It was a bit weird being here before anyone else showed up. Even the servants weren’t here to start setting up the dishes and silverware yet, so it felt completely out of place. Young Jae disliked it, but there wasn’t anything he could do about it at this point. The only thing that can be done is to wait patiently and hope that lunch would be served much quicker than usual.

As he was about to slouch in his seat, Young Jae caught movement at the corner of his eye. Turning his head a bit, his eyes landed on Daehyun, whom had just pulled out his phone. Looking around a bit, Young Jade made certain that no one else was around before he carefully leaned towards Daehyun and looked at the screen. Could he help it? He was a little… curious. Only a little! He could control his curiosity if Daehyun didn’t feel comfortable with it, but for now, Young Jae wanted to know what Daehyun was doing.

Daehyun briefly glanced over at Young Jae, which caused Young Jae to quickly look away as he begun humming in an attempt to seem innocent. A brief chuckle escaped from Daehyun’s lips before he moved his chair over until it was pressed against Young Jae’s chair. Young Jae looked down at their chairs with a bit of surprise before looking up at Daehyun. Daehyun grinned as he sat facing Young Jae before holding the phone between them. “Wanna play? It’s a two player game.” (DH)

“What… is it?” (YJ)

“It’s a rhythm game. You just press the circles at the bottom once other circles enter it.” (DH) Young Jae didn’t necessarily understand, but it did sound better than just sitting there out of boredom. Raising his hands, Young Jae put his hands onto the side of the phone, just like Daehyun. His cheeks turned a little red and he couldn’t help but smile when their hands came into contact with one another, but he tried his best to not make it too obvious. “Ready?” (DH)

“Yeah… I’ll try my best.” (YJ) Using his thumb, Daehyun pressed the start button before he began scrolling through the list. Once a song had been chosen, Daehyun started up the game and the song began playing. Once the circles began appearing, the two began playing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All around him, nostalgia seemed to come at him. He was surprised that the room itself had a forest theme to it and the fact that there was a sort of pop out tree house with his bed and a computer desk only made him continue to remember his time back at the orphanage. Jongup didn’t know who had decorated this room or if it had even been decorated just for him, but Jongup really wanted to thank whomever had decorated this room.

He had set his things off to the side and was now sitting in his tree house, looking around with a smile on his face. Jongup did wonder a bit if Young Jae had been the one to decorate it. The detail of how very close to the tree house’s clearing was rather accurate. Even the small stream and the bridge around the tree house were present. The only thing that was truly different was the tree house itself and the pathway that had to turn a bit to lead towards the doorway. Well, the furniture was also something that wasn’t present at the tree house, but he understood that it was necessary.

Getting to his feet, Jongup climbed down the ladder before he began running around. Jongup pretended to be a little kid again with his friends all running around with him as well. They were pretending to be animals of sorts and as usual, Jongup would tend to pick a bird. The idea of flight always fascinated Jongup back then and he almost always chose that species.

Jongup could still remember what animals the others would have chosen as well. Daehyun would have chosen a wolf, then when Young Jae came to the Orphanage, he would have chosen a bear and because of that, Daehyun would usually change his mind and become a bear also. Woohyun would then pick the lion, Seohyun would choose a dolphin but then get into a slight argument with Himchan because she would have to be in the water the entire time then. So then, when Seohyun changed her mind to be a mocking jay, Himchan would choose the dolphin and then another slight argument would ensue. Then, last but not least, Sunny would choose a bunny and their little group would start playing. Jongup remembered the simpler times and it was always fun when they weren’t having to deal with Sungjong and his group. This room was definitely the best room he’s ever had.

Coming to a stop, Jongup let out a relaxed sigh before he laid down with his limbs spread out. He smiled, staring up at the cloud-painted ceiling. Jongup tilted his head a bit before surprise hit him, noticing the animal-shaped clouds that were currently aligned in a circle. Did Young Jae really decorate this room? They were the exact animals that he had just remembered! Did Young Jae really remember all of that? It made him feel rather happy, so he did wonder what else Young Jae could have remembered.

Getting up to his feet, Jongup dusted himself off as he looked towards the door. Daehyun said that he was going to come get him after he was done waking up Young Jae, but… it seemed like he was taking a while. What could be taking him so long? Jongup was a bit hungry and although he didn’t want to leave his room just yet, he didn’t want to make the food wait either. Plus, this was going to be his room from now on. He would be coming back to this room everyday, so it would be alright if he left it alone for the time being.

Taking one quick last look around his room, Jongup smiled with satisfaction before he made his way out into the hallway and over to Daehyun’s bedroom. Taking hold of the doorknob, Jongup took a deep breath before turning the knob and pushing the door open. Stepping inside, he was about say something, but he noticed that the room was currently empty. “Big… brothers…?” (JU)

No reply, though that should have been obvious since he didn’t see anyone here. Sure, they could have been in the closet or in the bathroom, but Jongup didn’t see any reason for both of them to be in either places at the same time. So… it just means that… they had both left them all alone!

With a frown, Jongup stepped back out into the hallway and closed the door behind him before he began looking down either side of the hallway. They… couldn’t have forgotten about him, right? No, no, of course not! They must have had something to do and didn’t want him to get bored waiting for them. It made a lot of sense, right? Right! So, maybe he could use this time to actually look around and familiarize himself with his new home. Well… he was a guest, but he lived here for however long was necessary, so it technically is his new home.

Looking around, fascination began to kick in once again. The architecture for the home was something that he greatly enjoyed and if he could just look at the blueprints for the house and see how it had been put together, it would have definitely made his day. After all, architecture was just something that he definitely liked learning about.

Walking up to one of the pillars, Jongup grinned happily as he delicately traced his fingers along the smooth surface. One could tell that it was being taken care of rather well and it just seemed to send all sorts of chills throughout his body. Was this something he should be worried about? Possibly, but Jongup didn’t care! Such things always fascinated him, especially if this was his first time seeing certain materials being used.

Only a few seconds had ticked by and already, Jongup was pressed up against the column, his hands constantly moving in a slow manner. When he realized this, Jongup quickly pulled himself away and looked around before straightening his clothes out. Jongup reminded himself that even though he lived here now, he still had to behave. If he did anything wrong, even in the slightest, it could potentially cause Daehyun to lose his job.

Clearing his throat, Jongup took one last glance around him before he began walking. He took mental notes, his gaze lingering here and there whenever something truly caught his attention. Jongup was just so fascinated by everything that he couldn’t help but want to study the house. Yes, one day, he planned to go and visit other places to study those structures as well, but for now, this would have to suffice. Well, of course it would suffice! It was built quite well and he continued to wish that he had the blue prints for this home.

After walking around for a few more minutes, Jongup came to a stop before looking around to fully scan his surroundings. Folding his arms, Jongup nodded a bit, quite certain of his current situation. There was just no doubt in his mind that he was certainly, most definitely… lost.

With a small sigh, Jongup felt his pockets in hopes of finding the one thing that could potentially save him from such a predicament. Sadly, when he realized that his pockets were completely empty, a sad sigh escaped before dug his hangs into his pockets. What was he supposed to do now? Without his cell phone, he couldn’t call Daehyun to help him, so… all he could do at this point was to just roam around and hope for the best.

Well, that wasn’t so bad, right? At least he would get further insight on the layout of the house… not that it would help him too much. After all, it’s not like he could plan every single house just like this one. Though, it didn’t hurt to have a few reference notes, right? This was just the beginning of his up close studies. Sure, he’s had to get plenty of references from pictures and from going up to buildings themselves, but this was the first time he would have plenty of access to this building without having to worry about being told to leave.

Technically, he still had to worry, but not as much.

Either way, Jongup continued to press forward. He continued looking around, amazed as always. Sadly, since he wasn’t paying attention to where he was going, just as he turned the corner, he found himself bumping into something. With a slight ‘oof’, Jongup took a few steps back before looking at whatever, or whomever, it was he had just bumped into. “What the hell?! Are you even watching where the hell you’re going?!” (DO)

“S-Sorry…” (JU)

“Sorry? Sorry?! Do you think that’s enough to make the damn pain go away?! I can sue your for everything you have! Tch… I doubt you even have anything.” (DO) Kyungsoo dusted himself off, quite annoyed that he has to deal with such a nuisance so early in the morning. As he finally decided to look at the face of the one that had caused the disturbance, he took note of the submissive look that the other had on their face. Good. That meant that they clearly knew their place and understood exactly how in the wrong they were. Of course, he did note just how good looking the other was. Not exactly the greatest looks on him, but it would suffice. Maybe it would be a good chance to make this person show just how sorry they were. “Who are you anyway? You’re not a servant, so… are you one of Young Jae’s friends or something?” (DO)

“Huh…? Oh, um… no… I’m not a servant. My older brother got a job here and I just live with him here now.” (JU) Kyungsoo had already gotten bored the second he said no. With a slightly bored sigh, Kyungsoo examined Jongup a little more. Besides his almost attractive face, he seemed to have a rather… well, poor fashion sense. Appearance was everything to Kyungsoo, so it made sense that he would be attacking Jongup’s fashion sense… mentally of course. He had to make himself seem like a good person, at least for the time being.

“So… you’re not a servant and you’re not one of Young Jae’s little friends. So you’re just living here for free? Money scarce between you and your brother?” (DO) Jongup shook his head, though he was mentally kicking himself for not remembering about the question concerning Young Jae. Jongup is, indeed, a friend of Young Jae’s, so he could have given that answer. Would it have mattered all that much though? Would he receive special treatment if he really was Young Jae’s friend? “Are you telling the truth or are you trying to appear strong? You know, you can make some quick money. How about it?” (DO)

Jongup didn’t even know who this person was, but the offer was rather tempting. After all, if it meant making some extra money to help Daehyun with expenses, then at least it would ease their burden, right? Then he wouldn’t have to worry about Daehyun too much. Still, he needed to see what needed to be done. It wouldn’t make any sense to just jump right in without knowing what he was going to have to do. “What… would I have to do if I accept?” (JU)

Kyungsoo smirked a bit as he shifted his weight onto one of his legs and folded his arms. It was rather curious to see if this male would accept his offer, but with the amount of money he had as pocket change, Kyungsoo doubted that this man would reject him. “Well, I’m quite and you’re… decent looking. I’ll give you two-hundred for a or if you want more money, I’ll give you four-hundred if you give me a . Though… if you offer that of yours…” (DO)

“W-What?! N-No! I-I can’t do that…!” (JU) Jongup turned red as he looked away. He had his hands balled into fists, but he wasn’t mad or anything. In order to deal with his embarrassment, he usually either kept his hands balled into fists or he had a strong grip on whatever he was holding at that moment. However, because of the rejection, Kyungsoo was taken by surprise. With the amount of money he was practically throwing at Jongup that should have been enough to entice Jongup for his services. Okay, so he wasn’t desperate and he could have waited until he met with Baekhyun… whenever that was, but this was the perfect time to receive services from someone that wasn’t Baekhyun or someone who did ual services in exchange for money.

“Do you want more money? Is that it?” (DO)

“N-No… T-That’s not i-” (JU)

“I’ll raise my prices by a hundred. Is that more enticing? If you want the money ahead of time, then it’s no problem.” (DO) Jongup shook his head, but Kyungsoo was already digging into his blazer for whatever it was that he was searching for. Even if it is a lot of money that he could use to help Daehyun, he wasn’t sure if he should take the offer. It was tempting to take the offer, but before he could fully decide on what to do, a hand came running through his hair from behind before settling right on top of Jongup’s head. Looking to his left, he saw Yongguk come to a stop as a slight grin came onto his face.

“So this is where you’ve been, Jongup. Let’s get going then.” (BY) Yongguk’s hand lowered to around Jongup’s shoulders before turning him around. Without another word, the two began walking back down the hallway that Yongguk had emerged from, leaving Kyungsoo all alone. Kyungsoo narrowed his eyes as he pulled his hand from out of his blazer. So, this male’s name is Jongup and he is an acquaintance of Yongguk’s, eh?

He was rather annoyed that he had been left in this sort of state, but now that he knew that Jongup lived here, Kyungsoo was certain that it wouldn’t be the last time that he would bump into him. Who knows? It may be a quick way to get his release without having to wait for Baekhyun all the time. So what if it cost him a couple hundred dollars? That was literally pocket change for him.

Still, he was now rather curious who his brother is. If there was a new servant, why hasn’t he heard anything about it? Of course, Kyungsoo didn’t really care about new servants. If anything, the servants here didn’t interest Kyungsoo at all. However, with a slightly attractive brother, that must mean that the servant themself may potentially be attractive, if not more, right? Not that he cared or anything, but the idea of it was starting to pull his attention.

Why did he care anyway? He wasn’t gay. Kyungsoo was currently just experimenting with males is all. That didn’t necessarily mean that he was gay. Why else would he not marry a man? Once he found the right woman to call his wife, then he would potentially cease his experimentations. Sure, he could have messed around with women, but why risk the possibility of getting a woman pregnant? That was definitely something he preferred to avoid and at least this way, he was getting whatever ual curiosities he had out of the way. Though… he did have to admit that he quite… enjoyed lying with Baekhyun so far.

Kyungsoo smirked a bit before he began walking down the hallway. Why the hell was he even thinking about all of this anyway? All of that crap can be pushed off to the side since it wasn’t important anyway. As long as things continued to go his way, then nothing else should matter at this point.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just as they were about to finish the song that they were currently playing, the game came to an abrupt pause before a private number showed up on the screen. Daehyun looked at the screen for a brief moment before pressing the green button on the screen and putting the phone up to his ear. “Hello…?” (DH)

“Oh, Daehyun! I’ve heard the terrible news! How are you doing with everything?” Daehyun could have sworn that he recognized the voice, but a name just wasn’t coming up in his head. Plus, if it had been anyone he knew, they wouldn’t be using a private number to be calling him. Well, that and the fact that the only people he has told about his current situation was Young Jae, Woohyun, Seohyun and Jin. Well… Jin more or less forced it out of both him and their boss, so it couldn’t exactly be helped. Either way, it just made this a bit suspicious if not weird.

“Who is this…?” (DH)

“Who?! Well, it’s your bestest buddy Sungjong!” (SJ) Sungjong…? Why was Sungjong calling him and since when have they ever been buddies? Besides that, if Sungjong was talking about what he thought he was talking about, then how did he end up hearing about his situation?

“How did you get my number?” (DH)

“It’s so terrible, isn’t it? I called as soon as I heard about your situation! I was so worried that something may have happened. But don’t you worry that pretty little head of yours. I have the best solution to your problems and I think you’ll like it. I can get you a job as a stripper at the club I work at! Isn’t that great?!” (SJ) Daehyun let out a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Why was Sungjong offering him a job as a stripper? That was definitely one out of a number of jobs that he would never, ever, even consider.

“How did you even hear about my situation?” (DH)

“I know! Isn’t it so bad? So, what do you say? You’ll take my offer, right?” (SJ) Daehyun scoffed as he pulled his phone away and stared at it for a brief second. Was Sungjong serious? He was completely avoiding his questions and it was annoying Daehyun now. Putting the phone back up to his ear, Daehyun took in a deep breath to keep himself calm before he began to speak.

“I don’t know how you heard about my situation or how you even got my number, but I’m not taking your offer. What my situation is like is none of your business.” (DH) Before he could give Sungjong any other chance to talk, Daehyun hung the phone call up before setting the phone onto the table. Letting out a slightly annoyed huff, Daehyun slouched in his seat before staring at his phone. Young Jae had sat there quietly the entire time and he wasn’t exactly certain if it would be alright to ask what that call had been about.

“What had that been about?” (YJ)

“Huh? Oh, uh… nothing. Don’t worry about it.” (DH) Young Jae narrowed his eyelids a bit, but he knew that he wasn’t going to get anything out of him for he time being. Still, it didn’t exactly sound like the nicest call in the world. Someone was clearly toying with Daehyun and Young Jae was glad that his mother was currently on the case, but maybe… he needed to add his own hand into the game. Of course… he already had an idea as to who was behind this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did he do what he think he just did? Did he really do what he thinks he just did?! Sungjong pulled his phone away and glared at his phone with his mouth wide open. Daehyun did NOT just hang up on! Did he really just hang up on him? No no no. That was definitely not the case. Sungjong had just… accidentally pressed the end call button or whatever bull. Either way, Sungjong was rather annoyed with this turn of events.

Out of annoyance, Sungjong threw his phone at the couch before letting out a scoff. It was all that Kyungsoo’s fault, wasn’t it?! One way or another, Kyungsoo hadn’t done enough to put Daehyun into a desperate situation. Had Daehyun gotten another job already? Was that what it was? Maybe he was living with a friend or something and that’s why his burden had eased up a bit. Had his situation really been bad, then Daehyun would have at least considered his offer.

There was no way that he had waited too long though. He knew that Daehyun was a prideful person and that when it came to serious situations, Daehyun would rarely ever seek out assistance. He was the kind of person that would take on most challenges on their own. It wouldn’t make any sense for him to have received any aide from his friends just yet. So, again, it must have been all Kyungsoo’s fault. If he hadn’t been able to take everything from Daehyun, then it would make sense that Daehyun would have hung up so quickly.

No, Sungjong was certain that Daehyun was just putting up a strong front. There was no point in getting worked up over something like this, right? It was just merely Daehyun being the hardheaded bastard that he’s known him to be. So, all it took was a little prodding around before he would finally be able to penetrate into that tight barrier of his.

Walking over to his couch, Sungjong picked his phone back up before he began calling Daehyun once more. Bringing the phone up to his ear, Sungjong waited, listening to the call trying to connect. When it switched over to his voicemail, Sungjong’s right brow twitched before he hung up and tried again. He was annoyed that Daehyun had the nerve to ignore his phone call and he wasn’t going to rest unti- “What do you want?” (DH)

“I’m afraid you didn’t hear me before. I offered you a chance to get another job an-” (SJ)

“I’m. Not. Interested. Stop calling me already.” (DH)

“Wait!” (SJ) He knew that Daehyun was about to hang up and he wasn’t about to lose this opportunity. As much as he hated to admit, Sungjong was getting a bit desperate at this point. He had to say something that would entice Daehyun to keep him attracted to the call. Otherwise, there may not be any other chance of pulling Daehyun in. “Sleep with me.” (SJ)

“What?! I’m hanging up.” (DH)

“N-No, wait! If you sleep with me, I’ll give you enough money to send you to college. That’s what you’ve been wanting, right? To go to college? Think about it! You wouldn’t have to worry about money anymore. What do you say? It’s a good deal… right? Right?” (SJ) Sungjong heard Daehyun sigh. It could mean two different things, but Sungjong was fairly certain that whatever he had just said hadn’t been enough to entice Daehyun.

“I’m not interested. Stop calling me already.” (DH) And just like that, the phone call came to an end. With yet another scoff, Sungjong stared at his phone out of disbelief before throwing it back onto the couch. The nerve of some people! How could Daehyun not even take the time to think about his offer?! It was a really great offer to uphold!

What had he offered anyway? No, it didn’t matter at this point. He just needed to let the offer simmer for a little bit, then when the time was right, Sungjong would give Daehyun a little call once more. He just needed to have Kyungsoo do much more in order to get everything settled in, otherwise his efforts would have all been in vain. So it was best just to not let it get to him.

Why would it get to him anyway? Daehyun was just a single person that he completely despised! There was no way that something like this was going to get to him. There was just no way. At least… Sungjong was certain about it for the time being. After all, things almost always had to go his way.

Oddly satisfied after talking himself into it, Sungjong smirked a bit as he sat down. It was just a matter of… patience at this point. Just a lot of unnecessary waiting would have to suffice to make everything worth it in the end. Of course, as long as he continued to be paid for his services, then Sungjong didn’t necessarily care about all of this.

Crossing one leg over the other, Sungjong leaned back in his seat before picking up his phone again. Sure, the television was currently on, but he didn’t care about what was playing. He was more concerned with telling Kyungsoo about the little… mishap that had occurred.

Chapter 48: I swear this is like one of the best fanfic I have ever read. The childhood part was really interesting and nicely done, I wish you would detail some scenes but that's okay. And now... I don't know where you are going with this but I feel so excited. I am sad for Jin though because for the first time, he found someone important and yet, he lost it. That's so cruel you know. R. I. P Taehyung ~ ;-; Kyungsoo is a freaking bastard, hope he would end up in prison. Seungjong too! Feels like you are plotting something with him haha! Especially since he didn't get his revenge. Damn.... Daehyun will get to suffer again. X) about DaeJae, I love how slow you are making it. That's frustrating and sweet at the same time. And BangHim gosh, I want them to be together officially. But each time something interrupt them. X) is their couple going to be part of your plot or is it not that important? That's funny because I thought from the childhood that Himchan would have ended up with Sunny ~ By the way, that's been a long time we haven't seen her, is she going to make a cameo haha?
I also found it funny how Zelo and Jongup didn't like each other and how dependant Junhong seems to be towards Jongup when they both grew up haha! I actually laughed a lot when they bickered back then and now Junhong likes his hyung haha! Funny ~ Anyway I'm just going to end this review because I spent the last four nights reading these 48 chapters, I feel like I'm not making any sense anymore haha! Well, fighting for the next chapter, I am kind of excited to read it now! Fighting!!!!
